Huge, amazing, crazy good shout-out to the staff for helping make our anniversary fun. I arranged some secret-handshake drinks in advance and Andrew and crew delivered in spades. So happy Mercury was happy to play along! A delicious take on the Last Word had my wife swooning and an equally nice take on a Mezcal Margarita made me lean into that swoon. Granted I would have anyway, because mmmmm, but it really was tasty. We then all played around with recipes (hello Laphroaig) and ... what a night. Plus, do you know any other bar with a Cocktail-O-Matic? I'll save you the time: no. You don't. But Mercury has it. So in addition to the incredibly friendly, fun bar staff who will help you with any drink you can think of, or just want them to think of, there's also a retro machine that will spit out a recipe for you. Read that again. Go to machine, push button pull lever etc., receive random but awesome cocktail recipe in your hands. So easy, so dangerous, so good. This spot was such an experience- I felt like I was walking into the 1970s! The atmosphere is beyond! I opted to try the "mystery drink" which is a wonderful concept- but the execution was rough. There is a vintage vending machine in the back corner. The server will give you a coin, you select a spot and an empty shooter bottle with a rolled up cocktail recipe comes out- take it to the bar and viola! You have yourself a mystery drink! Unfortunately for my group, the vending machine was acting up and all 3 drinks were difficult to choke down- but that is on us for choosing the mystery. The staff seemed generally annoyed by our table and we received better service once approaching the bar. It was at the bar that I learned about their many vegan food options- which was great to know for the future! Complete disappointment! Been going there for a long time. We ordered cocktails and asked for our regular drinks and said they were out... ordered apps specifically the meatballs and said they were out... ordered the Mediterranean platter because I love the feta dip... that came out and I asked were the feta dip was and the waitress said you know what sir tomorrow is our shopping day so I guises you will have to wait... Ambiance made for a good night out. The place was decked out for Christmas and the drink menu had very creative and fun holiday themed drinks. The service was excellent as the servers were super helpful and recommended some favorites to try. I'd heard so many great things about Mercury over the years but have only stopped in a 3-4 times in the past 2 years. I've never tried their food- so I cannot speak on that, and my experiences each time coming here for drinks has been different in terms of the vibe here, the service, the drinks, and the ambience. The space is varied, and the main attraction is the super long bar that is fully stocked with all your favorite bottles. They have some tables, and lounge like seating with couches. I think it's meant to be more "bar/lounge" than restaurant, although the food choosings look like good accompaniments to the liberations. On my last visit, it was super busy, and I felt rushed in the sense that usually I can ask for more recommendations from staff but they didn't quite have the time that evening. I picked a few drinks that were too sugary and I didn't really enjoy. Other times I have come here it's been dead, and even another time it was just a crowd that didn't match my personality. With so many amazing craft cocktails in Omaha, it is true (more now than ever) there is something for everyone. I think this is a great spot with a sizable and creative menu, but just didn't seem to match my vibe that night-or I didn't make the right drink choices. Also, I'm looking for a little more consistency in my visits. Would not hesitate to return, but probably not the place I'd choose first if i was doing the planning. read more

My favorite cocktail bar in Omaha. I've been here a number of times in the past few months and it never disappoints. The staff is extremely friendly and open to conversation. I normally sit at the bar to see the bartender, (Phil or Alex), work his magic as I imagine just as it would have been to see Michelangelo create the Sistene Chapel. Seeing these guys in action is awesome. So calculated with every pour and drop of liquor. They have a lot of unique craft cocktails on their menu or you can order a craft version of your favorite drink. Every piece of hand-cut ice that they use in their beverages is derived from their unique Clinebell ice machine, which produces flawless 300 lb. blocks of ice. They have the only Clinebell between Denver and Minneapolis. Their food is also amazing. I've had their meatballs and their stuffed mushrooms, both were awesome but the meatballs stole the show. Comprised of duck, pork, and bacon speck, these meatballs are so flavorful and moist. It also comes with a delightful cherry jam that is mind-blowing. I can't say enough good things about this place. I have no idea how everyone doesn't know about it. I will definitely be going back real soon to watch the artists at work and to grab some amazing food as well. read more

Great cocktail bar. They have excellently crafted drinks with fun names. Currently their menu is a "choose your own adventure" book which is a fun and unique touch. My party got the "Mayday" and "Deadwood City". The mayday drink came out in a cute shark container. The deadwood city drink had "gun powder" in the drink which was actually lemon ash. Both cocktails were thoughtfully crafted. We will definitely return to try more of their cocktails. read more

After perusing Yelp we landed on trying Mercury for a Sunday evening dinner and drink. Stepping through the door you either notice the incredibly well stocked bar or the classy seating. The service was personable, the menu offerings were enticing and the gin and tonics exceptional. The food came quickly, before we were finished with our appetizer. We had the Mac and cheese with pulled pork and the Bolognese. Both were excellent. We finished off with the Tres Leches cake and it was a unique take on the dessert, not overly soggy and delicious. They no longer have appetizers or dinner menu. Take notice that the positive reviews are mostly about the food that they used to have. They have a "snack" menu. We ordered the charcuterie board. The charcuterie was the worst I have ever had. It literally had slices of white bread that had been heated slightly (I'm guessing a few seconds in a microwave). Yes - carrots. Served on polenta with walnuts and a gentle glaze - everyone loved this! The rigatoni was good, the pork chop was cooked perfectly but would have been a little better with some flavorful sauce. The fondue cheese dip was too smoky so no one loved it. Drinks were great. So why just 4 stars? We went thinking we could eat some dinner. But this is really a wine bar- as advertised. The tables are coffee tables and not conducive to actually eating a meal. It's actually super awkward and food spillage was inevitable. It was just too weird. The food options are fairly limited anyway, so I think this place would benefit from changing to a tapas/small plates style. read more

What a suprise in the heart of downtown Omaha. Very cool lounge environment located across the street from the Orpheum Theater. We were immediately sat on a Friday night at a two-top near the window. Fantastic, quick, inobtrusive service. We both had the Bolognese - very tasty, a bit spicey but not overbearing. Followed with a tre leche cake for dessert split between us. With one beer and one glass of wine, total was $71, a bit pricey but worth it. Treated horribly. We were a party of three and were asked to wait at the bar for a table to open. We had a drink and as we were finishing our drinks a table opened up. A party of six came in and the hostess quickly put two tables together for them. We were left at the bar and when we asked about our table they had no answer. I love bitters and this is a perfect balance of bitter and sour just a perfect cocktail. Now for the food The small plates are fabulous. perfect little European styled plates. All have been impressive with great intense flavors. and at $4 a piece it makes you feel charmed to order a spread of multiple items and all seem to compliment each other. My friends and I went to Mercury last night for cocktails and we did NOT regret it! The atmosphere was so fun and I absolutely loved that the menu was printed on a cereal box. The service was a 10/10 and the waiter we had came to check on us regularly. I personally got the fairy nectar beers but my friends got vodka/tequila cocktails and they all loved it !! We also got a buncha apps: hummus, Brussel sprouts, and guacamole. They were all such good bar food and great to have with our drinks. Restrooms were also very clean and maintained well. My wife and I have always been a fan of Mercury. We were looking for a small, quaint location for our wedding with just a few close friends and family that wasn't going to break the bank(preferred the idea of traveling rather than a big wedding). Everywhere we looked wanted a minimum reservation fee and all ended up $$$$. We contacted Mercury, since it was already a favorite, and this placed delivered 100% on making our night perfect, memorable, and right in our budget. The food was amazing, the ease of planning was absolutely steer free. The staff was absolutely top self...but the crown jewel was the cocktail menu. So creative, so tasty, and so much fun. We didn't reserve the whole place, and they treated it as a large reservation, which kept costs reasonable, and everything was amazing. We've always loved Mercury, and this solidified it even more so in our hearts. read more

This place is sooooo coooool! I LOVE the atmosphere! It's very comic-book themed, from the drink names to the menu setup. Plants on the windowsills made me happy! We went around 11pm-ish for a couple drinks and the whole place is self seating so it made it kind of hard to find a nice spot for 4. Fortunately a couple left shortly after we arrived so we got a nice lounge spot with a couch and some cozy chairs. Ordered a few drinks and all were pretty good! Very innovative and visually cool! I also ordered their carrots and polenta since I had to try some kind of food thing while I was there. The dish was great but it needed acid to cut the heavy sweet flavor in my opinion. Maybe a dollop of Greek yogurt or creme fraiche over the top? Our server was great! Super nice and very polite. However, we didn't see much of her. She popped by to take our orders and give us our drinks and that was about it. We waited quite a while for her to take our checks after she dropped them off. Outside Curb appeal wasn't much which is misleading. Inside is surprisingly upscale and comfortable. Small kitchen supports a small menu - but what they lack in quantity they make up for in quality. Probably the best cheeseburger I've ever had. My husbands sausage pasta Bolognese was fresh and perfectly spicy. Cocktails? Oh yeah! While at first I found the CD case drink menu a little hokey, after a bit I realized the creative menu layout supported some creative and bad ass cocktails. Bartenders there are artists. My husband and I stopped in on a weekday afternoon for drinks and a snack and sat at the bar. The décor is really nice and they have an impressive alcohol selection. In addition to the standard beer, wine, and liquor options, they offer several cocktails. The bartender was very friendly and knowledgeable about their options, and offered good recommendations. I tried two cocktails while we were there. The first was the Cracklin Rosie, which is vodka, rhubarb, lemon, rose water, and egg white. It was frothy on top with a red swirl, and smelled faintly of roses. It was very light and fresh to drink. I also tried the Threat Level Midnight, which is Mezcal, passion fruit, lime, and almond. This was the complete opposite of the Cracklin Rosie, but also delicious. It has smoky, intense flavors. My husband ordered the Shark Attack, and while it is fun for pictures (it is served in a giant shark mouth with a Barbie leg sticking out and fake blood), he didn't really enjoy the taste. We also ordered the beer cheese fondue to snack on, which is served with crusty baguette slices. This was excellent and we really enjoyed it.
