Before we embarked on a girls' weekend, we stopped at Mere's so we could load up on all the unique cheeses and wines. We opted to support local vs a grocery store, and unfortch, there was some regret. The shop was out of just about everything, and there weren't any "sides" on display - like olives, dips, dried fruits, nuts, peppers, etc. We saw a few olives in plastic tupperware on the counter, but we weren't compelled to ask about pricing. We were able to taste two cheeses, and opted for a small wedge of a brie-like cheese, their housemade pimento spread and a box of crackers. Their wines are unique, but only a handful had pricing... and there wasn't a good selection of sparkling wines or Champages. Service was friendly, but again, the selection wasn't nearly as robust as we'd expect from a cheese shop. read more

My wife and I ordered a cheese and meat board for a small gathering of about 25 people. My wife placed the order about 2 weeks in advance. I believe she worked directly with the owner who was really nice, but the product we received was an absolute joke. My wife explained what we needed when ordering initially and the woman assured her that it would be a "grand display, easily enough food for 25 people". When we arrived to pick up our order yesterday, we were extremely disappointed. It was the saddest looking excuse for charcuterie that I've ever seen. We had enough meat and cheese for maybe 5 people. It wasn't cheap either. We dropped $158 plus a small tip on it. We like to support small business, so we didn't say anything directly. They also were complaining about being busy, so we felt it best to just leave. Mere or whoever needs to take a look at other businesses doing charcuterie and learn a few things. We ended up going to Trader Joe's after we picked up our order to buy about $150 worth of supplementary meat and cheese so it would be enough for 25 people. We should've done that to begin with as we could have saved half of what we paid in total. All in all, the treatment from the staff was okay, but the product and what was promised was a complete joke. Do NOT bet on this place to deliver a charcuterie board for your party. Might be a nice spot to grab some meat, cheese, and wine for happy hour, but outside of that I'd say this place is a huge letdown. read more

I've been to Mere's a couple times now. The first time, I went solo and ordered a glass of champagne. It was the perfect bubbly for a hot day. Second time, I went with a friend. The inside was packed so we opted to enjoy the patio. We ordered three cheeses and a meat (extra $7). The server asked what we liked and didn't like to help craft the perfect board. We loved all the cheeses, nuts, crackers, spreads and meats. You get a good amount of cheese which is nice. A lot of places skimp on the amount and the quality. Everyone that works there seems to love it and is willing to answer questions and help you have the best experience. I also love that you can order and pick up a cheese board to go! Mere's is the shop we all need in our life, and one Charlotte needed oh so badly. First of all, Mere is a bad-ass all around fit-aficionado, instructor, cheese nerd, and wine lover. I mean she's amazing. I'm so thrilled for the addition of Mere's to Charlotte. Second, the wine selection in here is always unique and interesting. Do they have the usual suspects? Yes. Is Erin going to pour something you've never had that is also delicious (and then come at you with a bunch of knowledge too?). Also, yes. The boards are great (thank you for having a gluten free cracker option)...Mere's is fabulous to meet up with a small group. A couple of communal tables in the center and some 2-top high tops on the outskirts of that. Small outside area is quaint and quiet because she's tucked back in the shopping center. I have an infatuation with local wine shops. I went to Mere's for the first time last week and was happy with the visit. I was impressed with the wine selection and loved the cheese case for display. I spoke to the lovely woman behind the counter who recommended a red to me. She was super nice and knowledgeable. After I ordered the wine while waiting for my husband she gave me some suggestions of cheese that paired well with the wine. I ordered the 3 cheeses, a glass for him and enjoyed watching all the different people coming in and out of the store. I also learned that you can order a cheese board ahead of time to go...this will come in handy for parties/wine tasting at the house There was one server on, who just was not thrilled to be there. Absolutely love this place! I've been to MERE'S more times than I can count and have always had an amazing experience. The cheese and charcuterie boards are top of the line and are always so visually stunning. The staff is very knowledgeable and always picks out exactly what I'm looking for. We recently had a bridal shower there and couldn't have picked a better place. If you are there to celebrate with a nice bottle, or if you aren't trying to break the bank, Mere's has a wide range of options of wine bottles. Meh.... I was looking forward to trying this place. It's so so. I doubt I'll be back. I didn't think much of the decor. Just personal taste. I would have thought there would be written descriptions of the cheeses. Nope. And it seemed that the charcuterie was an afterthought. The cheeses came out nicely presented. However none of them blew me away. The choice of wines by the glass was pathetic. This is an areas where this place is really lacking. A wine and cheese place where I can't get a decent glass of wine? I'm not sure if this is typically a girl's hangout, but I was the only guy in the place. We stopped in on a Friday evening to try out the new place in Dilworth. It's touted as a boutique cheese and wine shop. There are a few tables outside, a few high tops and community style seating inside. They offer a few wines by the glass with a rather nice selection of wines by the bottle. Overall, the bottles seem very reasonably priced for the the handful or so I recognized. I am not completely sure on the ordering process, but a server approached us once we had a bottle of wine ($30 from Graves France)picked out. We ordered 3 cheeses for $18 and an additional meat (don't recall the price). The server was very friendly and made a few suggestions while taking us through the process. We sat outside as it was a nice evening. Within a short period of time our meat and cheese selection arrived served with several accompaniments like grapes, almonds, a spicy honey (wow, it was really good) and bread rounds. Checkout was a bit odd in that I think we should have paid when when we first ordered, maybe, as it took a few minutes at the register to pay and they only have one register. I definitely recommend Mere's. It's a nice addition to the plaza. You can also purchase items to take home. read more

The employee that helped us was condescending when I selected my bottle, and she made us feel like she was being inconvenienced when we asked to order a charcuterie plate. We decided to try out the new addition to the Dilworth restaurant scene that genuinely has something unique to offer. Mere's is in the plaza behind Famous Toastery, and offers high top tables inside and a few tables and chairs outside. We picked out beer and a charcuterie plate to share, and had a great selection of cheeses and meats. The owner is friendly and knowledgeable, and the staff is very helpful. We really enjoyed our evening and will stop by again soon to try a different selection of meats and cheeses. read more
