The first time I booked my appointment for massage, facial, and milk bath. But they booked me for the wrong day and time. I arrived and had no appointment waiting for me and the facialist was not working that day. Ok??? So I left and the manager called me later apologizing and offered me the services free. I just went today. The facialist Tatiana as excellent. The massage was just ok since I don't think she could massage with harder pressure. They totally forgot about my milk bath service! I was able to watch half of a movie on Netflix in the lounge before they even noticed. And the spa girl gave me attitude about it saying I'm supposed to remind them. Really?? Isn't that your job to remember your clients services? I have gone to Bliss Spa, Burke Williams, and many other luxurious spas and I have never had so many issues until this place. It's rather disappointing. Whoever reviewed Meridian spa and said it was like a smaller Burke Williams and less expensive...I beg to differ. It's not a dump, but I would not say this is luxurious. The spa in the Mondrian hotel that's luxurious...just sayin. Lol Also, they were supposed to provide the services complimentary for their error, but I just checked and they redeemed my groupon voucher. So now I have to dispute it. Classy. The location (inside Commerce Casino) is suspect, but once you go inside the Meridian Day Spa, you are instantly in a whole new world! I was surprised by co-workers with a gift card, and they organized the time I was to get my massage. So, I show up to the casino area, and should have parked in the hotel's parking lot. Once inside, the spa (second floor of hotel) I was greeted and checked in. I took the time to look around. This place was well decorated and smell heavenly, like natural herbs and flowers. Typical "spa-like" music was piped around, already creating the ambiance of relaxation. I was escorted back to the spa area (women only and men have their own spa area) and given the tour. I was blown away at the things available. You get a key at the front desk for a locker and you can put all your valuables and clothes in, and slip into a cotton robe and rubber slippers. Then, I explored alone. No one else was scheduled at this time, and I felt comfy to try all the amenities. I took a warm shower and then went into the sauna (they have a wet and dry sauna). Then I tried out the hot tub and then the cold tub (freezing). Then back in the sauna. My massage was wonderful (tips not included) and you can leave a tip at the front desk on your way out in an envelope. Your treatment includes using the spa area at your leisure for 4 hours. I asked to speak to the person in charge and she answer i am the only one here. Then she answered and said the person is in the basement. I have been to this spa plenty of times. Had a facial with Tatiana!!! One of the best facials I've had hands down!!!! She's so gentle with her hands and very precise. My face feels like smooth baby skin! The extraction process was soothing and almost pain free. She wasn't harsh or forceful. She was very careful. Also had a 60 minute massage with Elbia. She was great. She does work a little fast for my taste (not fast in terms of cutting your time short but she has fast strokes). She still got the job done and massaged ALMOST every inch of my aching body. Hit the steam room soon after per her recommendation and now feel like complete mush! The facility has great amenities. Very clean. Nice lockers... But only one restroom. I normally get massages and facials then stick around for a bit and use facilities. Did the mineral bath and sugar scrub as well and both were great! Vanessa is an awesome masseuse. I was looking for a spa that was nearby that wasn't too pricey, which this was. If walking through a smokey casino foyer doesn't effect your experience, then you're good. This place loses stars for me mainly for service/lack of communication. I was lounging in the TV room, then some women barge in and loudly was setting up for party. I'm all for the party. The spa should have given me a heads up if this shared/public space was being used for a private function. They could've posted signs or told me as I was checking in. Better yet, if they had known while I was booking my massage, tell me then and I would've rescheduled. This shortened my visit and then when I spoke up about it, they pacified me by giving me a free entry voucher. I am not cool with that - you're asking me to drive here again because you ruined my experience? Massage is great, although it's Swedish style and they're not very rough (I prefer Chinese style, where pain feels good). I spent a good 2-3 hours in the place having some much needed r&r. It's a GREAT deal for a quiet place where you can have a cup of tea, lounge on the chair and relax. They have deep dish bathtubs that feel like heaven. With a sauna, jacuzzi and tv room, there's not much else to complain about. It was somewhat hard to find (it's inside a casino), but other than that I have nothing but good things to say about it. Inconsiderate. This was my first time getting a massage and I had the experience to have it next to a room of loud women. I was not warned when booking the appt that there was going to be a big party coming in until the day of. During the entire massage, I had to listen to trap music and women screaming. I have mixed feelings about this place. Calling to make an appointment is like pulling teeth. I don't know who answered the phone when I've called but she's RUDE RUDE AND RUDE some more. I don't know why I didn't ask for her name. The spa is clean and today's attendants were super cool. However that tiny robe for my boobs was like a Shaw!! Ugh!! The masseuse was good. But we had no clean face covers. You know the sheet that covers the part you stick your face in. Well none of those!! Ha! Oh and no sandals in locker!! Glad I have my own. Bought 2 vouchers from Travelzoo. One for myself and one as a gift for my brother. I cashed to book an appointment and they accommodated me to the time I requested. We arrived and parked at the back of the casino and had to walk through the casino to get to the Spa. That's my only negative. There wasn't any sign telling me where to go so we had to keep asking people. We arrived to the Spa and were greeted by the receptionist and she explained everything. Men are upstarts, women downstairs. The place is very nice. The rest room had the lockers, showers, sauna, Jacuzzi, pool, etc. Everything was nice and new. My massage was amazing! Elvia was able to perfectly balance my request for stress relief and relaxation. She was firm around my neck, shoulders and back like I requested but a bit lighter every where else. Before this day, I had never gotten a facial before. My face had been recently breaking out (bad) and, was in desperate need of a facial. Love how they are open late. Called in the night before around 10:30PM and were super nice and helpful in getting me my appointment. The day of my facial I had taken my 8 month pregnant sister (unexpectedly) and they were able to take care of her despite not having an appointment. Definitely felt relaxed. I was invited here by one of my girlfriends who wanted to celebrate her birthday all weekend. I was reluctant to buy a massage so I just paid for the day pass. I hung out for an hour or so in the theater room, hot room, and near the Jacuzzi. Once I saw two of the girls come out from the treatments, they look so relaxed and peaceful. I said I need that! I went downstairs and paid for my massage, and they credited the amount that I paid for the day pass to the cost of the massage! All I have to say is that Vanessa was absolutely amazing, thoughtful, and detail oriented. She didn't make me feel bad about me having my wig off or my crusty feet LOL... But seriously. This place is still a WINNER! I just made my sixth visit to Meridaian and my stamp card is full, so I get a 30 minute upgrade on my next massage. I really can not say enough great things about this place, from the time you walk through the door, until time to depart. It is still a hidden gem that I want to keep that way, but the way I tell people about this place I'm surprised it is not overflowing with people. Well, my massage on Monday 3/29/16 was another amazing one. I always ask for Arcelia because I know she does an outstanding job, but this time she was not available for the time I went in (4pm) so, I had Vanessa and my god if this was not another wonderful experience. This spa is nice. Not as high end as some casino spas I have visited, but clean with quality services and decent amenities. The facial and massage I had were excellent. The private bath was nice, too. I spent the better part of 2 days having services and relaxing in the theatre and quiet room, and left feeling very relaxed. Management does a good job at trying to keep their customers pleased. This time I went with my husband and we both enjoyed our massages. My technician this time was Vanessa and she did an amazing job. I can't remember my husband's technician's name, but he was pleased too. In four hours, you have plenty of time to shower, relax in the hot tub, plunge in the cold pool, use the sauna and/or the steam room, and even bathe in your private tub. However, after those visits, I booked an appointment twice with this spa, many months apart, and both times I was cancelled on by the esthetician the day before my appointment. This was my first time going, and I went with my boyfriend. We hoped to get a couples massage but I guess it wasn't possible even tho we tried twice to schedule an appointment for a couple. I was hoping to enjoy this with him but everything is separated. So now I know to bring a friend or my mom. The massage for myself I thought was really nice she actually almost got me to go to sleep. The massage my boyfriend got, we'll he said it was ok a 7 out of 10. We would both recommend this place but if you don't want to be bored bring a friend of your own gender. The robes we we got were a bit rough on our skins and weren't very comfortable. But we both enjoyed the jacuzzi and sauna. BIRTHDAY FAIL: My friends and I were looking for a spa to celebrate my 32nd birthday. I was referred to this location by a coworker because of the very reasonable prices. Before I tell you why I gave them two stars,let me say it is a nice facility. It's small but it's very clean and I really liked the decor. They have a quiet room adjacent to the locker room and I was told they have a movie/TV room but I didn't see that. The steam room and sauna are very nice. The jacuzzi was really hot. Now I know they're suppose to be hot but one girl got out because her skin turned red from the heat. I was unable to sit pass my knees in the water because it was just too hot for me.I ordered a milk bath and a deep heat therapy massage. The tub for the milk bath is nice but small. I'm 5'6 1/2" and I couldn't stretch my legs straight out. It wasn't how I imagined though. I thought it would be a white color with a creamy feel. Instead it was a powdered milk with a lavender scent, similar to a regular bath. Not bad for a $10 add on but it's definitely something I could have done at home. The deep heat therapy massage includes the use of heated herbal bags. My complaint is not with the bags but with the masseuse. My mother had Noel before I did and she told me she asked her to stop early,lying saying she had a stomachache,because she was actually disappointed with her technique. I ended up getting her next and I was sad to find out my mother was right. First, the oil was cold so every time she touched me I flinched from her cold hands and the cold oil. The air was also on and I had just gotten out of the water,so I was cold. Second and most important,the massage was so scattered and didn't flow at all. I did not feel relaxed and was very confused and uncertain during the massage. Noel would start on my foot,digging into one section,causing pain, and instead of rubbing the knots out and massaging the entire foot,she would then jump to my thigh. Then rubbed very lightly on my calf and then back to my foot,on the heel only. I had no clue where she was going next and there was no kneading,no use of her fists,no tapping, no nothing. She literally just lightly rubbed oil on my body and it was over. At one point, I asked her what kind of massage she was giving me,was it a deep tissue or other. She said she fluctuates so I indicated I wanted a relaxing massage. I had so much oil on me that I used the sheet to wipe myself before I left. I was soooo disappointed. I waited all month for this massage and it was worthless. I left with the same back pain and my foot actually cramped up when I put my shoes on. I did tell the manager that she was very nice and gentle but really inexperienced. I told him that my mother and I did not enjoy our massages. He told us that she was new with their company and gave us 15% off but my birthday massage was ruined and that really didn't help. All of my coworkers keep asking how my birthday was and I'm a little upset to say it was not great. I will not be returning. Update: 3-23-17, I changed my review from 2 stars to 3 stars for customer service. The manager, Federick, called and apologized for the service and offered a resolution. He gave me the names of his best masseuses. I am going to allow them to redeem themselves and I hope I'll be updating to 5 stars! See ya soon! read more
