Hawaii's transient food scene continues to impress. This time with a truck serving modern Filipino food. To assume all the food of the Philippines all taste the same would be to assume all food from China taste the same. That said, where this food draws its influence from is unlike mainstream Filipino flavors in Hawaii. For example, the pancit uses wide almost "Chinese" style alkali noodles stir fried in a dark soy sauce, a fermented seafood sauce, crispy garlic, colorful bell peppers, long beans topped with three well cooked, head and shell on shrimp and garnished with crab eggs, and chives. Tear off the head, squeeze out the head fat, squeeze the fresh lime wedge and mix into the pancit and it opens up a whole next level of seafood goodness. The chicken inasal is great eats. Beautifully marinated then grilled chicken hindquarter sat atop a bed of crispy shallot rice garnished with pickled cucumber. Shredding the chicken, mixing in the Chinese style ginger onion sauce, adding the accompanying soy based sauce and mixing all the pickles and rice together makes for one absolutely delicious concoction. Lots of other modern Filipino fusion dishes to try. Their version of mini lumpia bites are perfect for the meat lover, filled almost entirely with seasoned ground pork. Refrying leftovers creates and ethereal crisp outer shell making day two even better. Creative drinks available. None sampled yet. Food is made to order. Expect a 15-20 minute wait. Food truck lunch from Pearlridge Mall parking lot, Aiea, O'ahu, Hawaii... When I made a donation at Green Drop - Pearlridge, the worker, Bo, introduced me to the food truck next door: Merianda Maui He said that everything from this food truck is good. Too bad they weren't open on Tuesday... So, I went back on Wednesday! There was a couple in front of me, waiting for their food. I went up to the window and ordered the first item on the menu: Bistek and egg. It comes with garlic rice and pickled veggies! I took the package home... it was killing me... The fragrance... it smelled so good! When I got home, I snapped a quick photo, but didn't get a sho of the pink pickled onions and the green pickled cucumbers... wow... so yummy! Even the Sautéed onions were delicious! The beef was tender and tasty with its citrus-soy marinade and Maui onion ginger scallion sauce. Mmm! I wanna try everything on the menu! Oh... and I got the Mango Sago drink without condensed milk (because the Ube Horchata has dairy). It was excellent, too! The Sago was a bit clumpy, and some couldn't fit through the straw. 10/10!! -Located at the old Sears parking lot Pearlridge mall along with the other food trucks. I would say as a Filipino, the tastes are very similar to what you'd get back at the Philippines except in a much fancier way. I've not had chicken inasal in a long time and this definitely did brought back memories. The other food item we ordered was bistek & eggs, also very delicious. As far as drinks, we ordered both ube horchata and mango sago, however I would much rather have the mango. Service was good, wait time was not that long. read more

Finally got to try this spot. I work close by so it was super convenient and I always grab lunch for my coworkers as well. So I told them about this spot and they were excited to try it too. So we ordered the chicken inasal, bbq ribs, Sisig and Ube horchata. Also pancit and lumpia as well Presentation was really nice and the food was pretty good. The horchata was super good and I wish it came in a bigger cup lol I definitely will be back to try the other dishes. The couple was nice and very attentive. read more

Ordered chicken inasal, pansit and bistek philly. The chicken had the flavor of your typical filipino bbq which I appreciated. I had the leg and it was on the dry side. The philly bistek had a lot going on and the fries had a little sweetness to it. I sadly forgot to take photos of my meal so hopefully the next time I visit, I'll remember. Ordered the pancit, Taiwanese chicken, MFC chicken sandwich, and lumpia and we loved everything we ate. My favorite was definitely the Taiwanese chicken which I was incredibly surprised with how tasty and flavorful it was. The food truck is located by the old sears at pearl ridge. Very easy to order, but just make sure you're not in a rush as the food was freshly prepared after ordering. I went just before closing so they were sold out in a lot of their rice dishes which I'm eager to try and will do so next time I return. read more

Longanisa egg sandwich, bistek, and bao bun were all delicious. The sandwich was on the heavy side. Some of the pieces were pretty fatty in the bistek bowl. Ube horchata was good also but not a must try. Our favorite was the bistek dish for sure. Loved it! Super sweet staff as well. I will say this food is good, but I take 2 stars off. A little slow on service, and 2 the pricing on the food. You guys are working off a food truck step it up and speed things up. We ordered the Longanisa Egg and cheese sandwich, the Chicken Inasal, and the sisig nachos. Wife's comments about the rice being mushy and overcooked. Sisig nachos is good, but the sisig itself can break my teeth. Overall favorite has got to be the longanisa egg and cheese. The Ube horchata is good, but lower it down by $2 that drink shouldn't be $7. Ridiculous IMO. read more

I was really excited to try this Filipino fusion spot in the Pearlridge parking lot and was not disappointed. The mango sago hit the spot with the heat today and I think I downed it in 5 min of getting to my car. Some reviews said you have to wait awhile for your food, but honestly I got mine within 15 minutes of ordering and it was FRESH. All of the rice dishes come highly recommended, but as I came later in the day they were sold out, but I'm not complaining because the pancit was fire! The prawns were so fresh and well seasoned despite being shell on and the pancit had canton style noodles that were tasty with lots of crunchy veg and balanced flavor , even the yolk of the egg was still slightly jammy. It's the attention to detail that show how much care and intention goes into their menu. As for the lumpia, it's probably best it comes in a snack size because I could put away a bucket of them otherwise. This spot is going on my neighborhood top spots list. Went here on a weekend and it was surprised not busy. The location is at the Pearl ridge mall close to former sears so plenty of parking. It's a cute food truck with one available seating for about 4 people. This was our first time trying this place and wished they could have more items available on their menu. There were about 2 items sold out so I was bummed. We tried their shrimp fried noodles, lumpia Shanghai and ube drink. The food was actually not that bad could use a little more taste though but overall it's good. Would be back for the rest of the sold out items! read more

Their pork sisig nachos have an authentic taste. They are new but got their sisig tasty and delicious! Their ube Horchata is one that you should always get with your order. It's a must try. The staff of two are both friendly and seem to cook authentic dishes with a good twist. Presentation is appetizing as they lined their nachos with banana leaf. The fried egg half done is just right to mix it up with the sisig and avocado. It is also garnished with pickle red onion which really compliment the taste and cleanse your pallet after. Yummy! I'll definitely come back to try their other dishes. I came after 2pm so there was just enough shade under the tree to enjoy what I ordered. Plenty of parking spaces as well and very good location as they are at the Pearlridge mall parking lot by the old zippys right along kamehameha Hwy.
