What a cool, modern beachy vibe! It's not very big but a cozy feeling. We had a large group and they had no problem accommodating us. The servers were attentive, friendly and knowledgeable. We visited the Rogers Promenade location for dinner on Saturday around 6:30 pm. We were greeted seated promptly, menus of drinks and food were sort of scattered onto the table, with no explanations. Our waitress Amanda was excellent, explaining specials and giving recommendations from the menu. The 2 stars (could've have been better) is for the food. The food lacked seasoning, from the bread to our entrees. We ordered the Cajun Pasta and the Mahi special. Cajun Pasta had zero Cajun flavor. also the pasta dish was very soupy. the Mahi special also lacked any seasoning, a very bland flavor, The fish was cooked very well just lacked any seasoning. Again Amanda, our waitress, was overall fantastic. I did notice the owner in the restaurant. I did see her speak to one table, maybe 2, but did not check in with any other guests to my knowledge. Mermaids is new in Rogers and this was our first visit. We were delighted with what we experienced. Our server Liz was cheerful and attentive throughout our lunch. The food was great, including warm tasty bread, a superb chicken roasted pepper soup, tasty shrimp and scallop items. The manager stopped by (sorry, I forgot your name), and she was warm, friendly and cared very much about our experience. The ambiance is pleasant, easy to carry on a conversation in. You couldn't ask for a more perfect spot for lunch or dinner. We often try new places but aren't impressed enough to build them into our dining routine. Mermaids is the exception. We'll be back regularly and are eager to try additional items on the menu. Give Mermaids a try ... you won't be disappointed! read more

I was really looking forward to seafood. It is my favorite genre of food. Mermaids had been suggested to us many times since moving to NWA just before COVID shut down most everything. So for our 26th anniversary, we decided to go. I was thinking this would be what to me is a typical higher end seafood place, but it wasn't. I think, by the menu, it maybe focused a bit much towards Italian. I was looking forward to scallops, my husband towards lobster. Alas, neither were on the menu. Our fault...we should have checked before going. In walking in, it did have a very cool atmosphere, I'll give it that. Wait staff was friendly, maybe a little too laid back for the type of restaurant I thought we would be entering. But I have a lot of seafood restaurant experience and from many states. This may well be the best in NWA, I'm not sure. It was nice to see the other people there were dressed nicely for the place instead of shorts and t's like I've seen so many times in nicer restaurants. The food was okay. I can't remember was I chose, quite honestly. Since it didn't have what I was hoping for, I just took a gamble after following the waiter's recommendation. I like clean, lighter food and this seemed like a good choice for that, but it wasn't. I do remember crab fried rice. I need to remember to stay away from anything involving the word "fried". It's just not for me. Overall, it was an ok experience, but I admit that was based on personal taste and experience. Someone else might love it! So I'd say it's worth trying out, but I'm not sure whether we will return or not. read more

Ambiance is fine, the food is tasty, the problem I have and the reason for the one star rating is the extremely small portions and the price. I paid $20 for a tiny portion of fish on a tiny bed of rice. Two small slices of bread accompanied my meal. The fish was approximately 1"x 3". Not kidding. We had an excellent experience today. We are in town from St.louis. We sat on the patio and the weather was great. We started with a nice beer. We then ordered the seafood special. We don't have dairy in our diet. They prepared our meals to perfection. We also were able to have the bread without butter. We all cleaned our plates. Very disappointed in the quality of the food. Prices are expensive and the food was horrible. I had to send my soup back because It had a piece of plastic in it. We got fried green tomatoes as well and they were the size of a silver dollar. The seared sea bass wasn't sea bass. my husband and I could not even eat it . it was prepared horribly and had a very fishy taste. it came with crab fried rice and there was absolutely no crab in the rice. I am being very serious when I say it was just gross. Food shouldn't be like that when your paying $28 for a entree. Definitely will not be back. Don't waste your money. read more

I really do not understand the appeal of this place. I have been twice and both times the food has been bland, under salted, and generally just tastes as if it was just pulled from a microwave. With these prices I expect fresh caught fish, top quality ingredients, and exceptionally cooked food. Dinner for four with one app, one glass of wine, and one very dry chocolate cake was $180. Mermaids is great... consistently. I have never had a bad meal here... the fish tacos are amazing! Chicken parm is my wife's favorite. Service has always been friendly and efficient. They have a good knowledge of the specials and food preparation. I skipped my favorite today and tried the Chicken Parm special. I loved it. The sauce was light and was the perfect amount. So many places drench their food with sauce and over powers the other flavors, they put, to me, the perfect amount. I am compelled to add that their lunch specials are very reasonably priced. The owners are nice and will stop and visit your table. The dining area is comforting , well decorated and intimate as well. Table lighting is soft but bright enough to see. Have been here a handful of times and have ordered different items from the menu. While Mermaids is a really pretty place to dine, the food doesn't qualify as fine dining . . . doesn't even come close for the following reasons: 1. Portion size is not comparable to the price ($25 average/entree). 2. Minuscule pieces of meat in pasta dishes. 3. Wait staff is rude. 4. Steak is always burnt on the edges no matter what temperature one requests. 5. Each time I, and my parties, dine at Mermaids, someone always gets sick. This last time, four of the six guests (including me) got sick. 6. Service is slow. 7. Between the time one places one's order and when one receives one's meal hovers around 45-minutes. 8. The bread is swimming in butter and inevitably will drip on one's clothing no matter how careful one is while eating the bread. read more

This was our first time trying Mermaids and it definitely did not disappoint. We made a reservation for 6pm and were seated promptly. Our table had chilled glasses of water awaiting our arrival, something we appreciated. Our server, Kortney acknowledged us within moments and was very attentive throughout our dinner. We made sure to try an appetizer...okay 2! The lobster fritters and the fried green tomatoes (these were a special being offered) and both were amazing! The salads we good, nothing special, but a nice filler before our entrees arrived. But the bread that is served with the salad is to die for! Fresh, hot and pre-buttered, Lord help me! I ordered the shrimp tortellini with artichokes which was delicious and my husband had the New York strip that came with asparagus, mashed potatoes and a rich brown gravy. His portions were huge. Dinner ordered the Mermaid's Trio- pan-seared scallops on a bed of spinach artichoke cream sauce, blackened shrimp on rice and fried crawfish tails served with a remoulade. Dinner comes with a side salad as well. The scallops were perfect! Medium sized and bursting with flavor. Shrimp had a nice " kick" to them with plenty to go around. Crawfish was the weakest item with smaller pieces with a bit of crispy outer covering. VERY good food. I would order this again! read more

It's just not the steak place I wanted it to be. Our appetizers were awesome. Fried lobster bites, the crab cakes and the sauce were good, but the spinach artichoke dip was seriously good. Next time I plan to order the crab stuffed mushrooms to see if they are as good as mine. And I'll order the spinach artichoke again for sure. The steaks were cooked perfectly, and the sides were wonderful. I'm just not sure I liked the sauces. When you order a steak bc it promised a cracked pepper rub, you expect a salty,peppery flavor. This sauce felt more like barbecue sauce. I live in grilled steak country, so I'll admit I'm hard to impress. Next time, I'll stick to appetizers and pasta. The service is 5 star for sure. The sauce was great but my fish was over cooked. My wife ordered the chicken fete cub and it was really good. Do NOT eat here without THOROUGHLY inspecting your food. My husband and I went in for the first time, and he found a HUGE bug in his mashed potatoes (looked like a very large stink bug). Needless to say we BOTH lost our appetite. But the absolute worst part of it was when they brought the check. They actually had the audacity to try and charge us $23 for his meal, after we (very nicely, mind you) showed them the bug and sent about 80% of the meal back uneaten. When I spoke with the manager and told her that we were still being charged even though there was a huge bug in the food, she said, "I know, I saw the bug... But why wouldn't we charge you? It was only in the mashed potatoes. He could have eaten AROUND IT..." Needless to say, we will NEVER AGAIN eat in that establishment! read more

I'm torn between 3 and 4 stars. So I actually plan to come back the next time I'm here to order something different. Let me start off by saying the service and atmosphere would get 5 stars each, individually. The place is quiet and beautiful...pretty serene. We went on a Wednesday night and there was one other table besides ours, so it was pretty empty. Our server was perfect. Attentive, professional and knowledgeable. The food...ehh, I was expecting more "oomph" or "pizzazz" or something. Reading reviews and taking the advice of my friend who had eaten herr previously, I ordered the Cajun pasta. It wasn't bad...kinda just okay. The sauce was a creamy sauce with shrimp, scallops, crawfish, tomatoes and mushrooms served over angel hair pasta. The best part of it was the tomatoes and the freshly shaven parmesan cheese the waiter added on top. The crawfish were dirty (as in, still had the mud veins intact), the scallops and mushrooms felt very canned, and there was really no Cajun flavor. The bread they served at the table drenched in oil felt a little forced and the side salad was...well, just a salad. Nothing wowed me. And for rhe quality, it was a bit overpriced. I have no problem at all paying $22 for a pasta dish, if it's really good. Like I said, I'll try it again, but it just wasn't something I think I would crave going back to. read more
