Of all the times I have been to Merridee's I absolutely cannot complain. Sometimes the wait is a little long (weekends), but the food and service make up for it. From breakfast to lunch the food has been constantly good. On one of the last visits we had the Sampler Plate (chicken & egg salad, fruit parfait and cinnamon raisin bread). It is supposed to come with tuna salad as well, but I do not like tuna salad so I asked them to 86 the tuna on my order. We also got the Monte Christo which was so delicious. Brownies were delicious! Ruben was superb. Monte Cristo was good. Curry chicken salad was good, though the grapes are not cut. I had 2 huge grapes in my sandwich. If they were cut into fourths, or even just in halves, it would be much safer and would disperse the sweetness throughout the bites, which the sandwich could really use. Service was on-point! Ordered at the counter. Found a table. Coffee came out a minute after we sat and our food came out about 5 minutes later...and this was around noon! After eating, my daughter, husband, and I all needed to use the restroom. They are located in an atrium between Meridee's and another restaurant. Husband walked in the men's and walked out. He said the restroom was a disaster and he didn't want to be in there any longer than he had to. Daughter and I walked in the women's. No paper towels. TP on the floor. Trash cans overflowing. I mentioned all of this to a worker and she said they aren't in charge of the bathrooms and she would have to call someone on the phone to come take care of it. I think that is ridiculous. What if the bathroom was really, really bad? Customers would just have to close their eyes, hold their noses, and pray they don't touch or step in anything? I had the salad chicken sandwich only comes with lettuce no tomato sadly no bagels that's why they getting 4 stars The pastries are good I had the cinnamon roll and didn't finish it cuz they are extremely sweet but pretty good with my coffee They have a back patio with seating under shady trees so that to me is a plus. I was visiting Nashville and a close friend recommended Merridee's Breadbasket. We we were in Franklin for another purpose so it was nice to just pop in somewhere close for lunch. I ordered the quiche and was quite disappointed when all I received was a side plate with a small piece of quiche on it. I was surprised it didn't come with a little small salad or a piece of bread. When I realized that's all it was, I got back up and order a side of sourdough toasts. It took a while to receive and didn't bring it with butter so I had to wait again for that. By the time it came I was already done with my quiche because I didn't want it to get cold. My mom got the tortilla soup and said it was decent. I gave it three stars though because the French silk pie was very good. The molasses cookie and peanut butter cookie were both rather dry but still good. I'm guessing they were probably sitting out for a while. Maybe I just made the wrong choice or came in on an off day? The other reviews all made this place sound very good! read more

I come to Merridees regularly now so I feel as if its only fair I up my rating to reflect how much I enjoy this place. Its full of southern comfort when it comes to the food yes, but also the people are wonderful. Coffee is self serve, they bring your food to you happily, and you can tell its just a classic spot in downtown Franklin. I have gotten everything from a Monte Cristo, cinnamon rolls, egg & cheese biscuit, pumpkin pie, etc. The food is above average and the coffee is always great. They typically have normal coffee, but also a "special" flavor such as todays cinnamon/vanilla/caramel blend which was fantastic. My favorite things I've eaten have to be any biscuit item they have, and their pumpkin icebox pie.... Buy the two together in the same meal and wow. Overall, I cannot recommend this great breakfast/lunch spot enough to those in search of all the classic foods of the South.... and bread! read more

Did we miss something???? How is this place still in business????? We ordered our pastries, and took a bit within seconds of ordering them, and I swear, these tasted 3 days old. They were hard and difficult to chew. Like...a homemade pastry had to be nawed at to get a bite they were so hard. My husband, who will eat almost anything, got a piece of coffee cake. It also tasted STALE, and he threw it out. He eats everything....... This was also at 9 am, so everything should have been fresh, but it all tasted 3 days old. I've had better food at a gas station. The place was overcrowded, really bad seating choices with outdated, tiny, hard chairs. People were just hanging around making it difficult to walk around. I see other people have had good experiences, so I'm not sure why it was just soooooo awful, but we will skip this place and head to the better bakery around the corner next time. read more

The woman at the counter did not assist much in alleviating (we had to ask if we needed to be seated and so on). We both got the five point much to our disappointment. My husband and I have been here many times. This restaurant is full of bakery surprises! The staff is always delightful, but Bennett is a guy that goes above and beyond the call of duty! One dinner dish that I absolutely love is their pot roast and of course you have to get the mashed potatoes (they are out of this world)! The stuffed french toast was incredible!! It was very rich and filling. I got it with bacon. The bacon was overcooked, the type that breaks right off in your mouth with no effort of tearing it with your teeth. The ambiance of the place was very nice and it was pretty. There were around six tables occupied at 7:10 AM on a Thursday. There was a lot of seating though. Unfortunately the espresso machine was broken so I didn't get to try a latte. Merridee's is a good spot for breakfast or lunch. They have some very good sandwiches, and nice baked treats as well. Their Ultimate Club sandwich is a highlight for sure. The burger was just OK to me, but overall the food is good. In my experience the service has always been helpful and friendly. The place can get super noisy, especially back near the kitchen. The walls there don't go all the way up to the ceiling, and it always sounds like someone is smashing pots and pans around trying to make as much noise as possible. First of all - I have had many sandwiches as probably a lot of you have as well, but you have yet to taste the best one out in Franklin, TN. Location - I am from Florida so I am not very good with directions but we found a parking garage near the place and it was literally across from it. It was such a cute shop with a farmhouse feel. Personnel - There were a lot of people working but they were all so nice and quick. I really valued how they were willing to wait for us as we read the menu. Food quality - the picture does not do justice to what that sanwich was. It was so buttery in a good way and with simply ingredients it tasted REALLY GOOD. My hubby got a Salmon sandwich amd he will probably review as well. So good. I have not had a better turkey sandwich. Price - It was a tad pricey. All sandwiches varied from $8-$10. The one I got was $9.75. But it was worth the money. Drinks were expensive so we just got water with it. :) Would I go again? I SURE WOULD. I used to live in Franklin. My wife and I came to Merridee's every Saturday morning. We loved it. Great breakfast, great pasties, great coffee. My, how times have changed. Back in town on business, I came back in on this rainy morning, hoping for a little warmth from the past. This place is NOTHING like it used to be. The staff was not warm and friendly (like they used to be), the food - even the pastries - is fine. Not bad per se, but not good. And the coffee, while it's a flavor I used to like and still do - was not hot. AT ALL. How hard is it to keep coffee hot? The whole experience this morning was very disappointing. But I guess that stands to reason - Merridee's has fallen in with the rest of downtown Franklin - fine, but just not near as charming as it used to be. read more

A friend recommended that I stop by Merridee's Breadbasket for some baked goods. Everything is made from scratch and they were voted best bakery in Williamson County for three years in a row. The bakery was filled with fresh made cakes, cookies, pies, breads, brownies, pastries and more. I purchased a couple of chocolate brownies, two molasses cookies and two oatmeal raisin pecan cookies. The brownies were rich, moist and very delicious. The molasses cookies were flat and the sugar was almost caramelized around the edges. The taste was amazing and something that I would purchase many times over. Nobody thought that the oatmeal raisin pecan cookies were special. They were crumbly and the flavor was dull. Mom and pop breakfast/bakery spot in downtown Franklin, it's one of our favorite places for brunch. Dare I say some of the best biscuits we've ever had?! My husband and I get the Viking and 5 Point. At first I thought $9-$10 was a bit pricey for a sandwich with no sides, but after eating, it was an experience I would've probably paid even more for. The bread is homemade to start with. Moist and fluffy and buttery! You can't go wrong with any of their bread choices. My sandwich was the grilled salmon sandwich that came with a super delicious spicy feta cheese spread. So much flavor between the bread, the salmon, and the spread. My wife got the Turkey Club which came triple stacked with delicious turkey and bacon and cheese. And don't forget the bread. 05/04/2021 We were walking aimlessly in Franklin, TN. I smelled chocolate chips cookies and followed my nose to Merridee's Breadbasket. I didn't find cookies, but discovered a really cool bakery. Hidden on a side street off of Main St in Historic Downtown Franklin (store is on 110 4th Ave S, Franklin TN 37064). Locals seem to know it well, unless you're adventurous and willing to walk every block... you could possibly miss this place. The place is more than a bakery. They serve breakfast from 7am to 11am and lunch from 11am to 5pm. You order your food and pay at the counter, then find available seating yourself. A waiter or waitress then brings the food to your table. Seemed odd to us, maybe its because of Covid?? We didn't ask, because we were hungry, lol. Nonetheless the staff is helpful, very friendly and most important the food was great. read more

My family each had a grilled sandwich. We had the Monte Cristo, the Patty Melt, the Ultimate Club & the Grilled Cheese for our little guy. ALL OF THESE SANDWICHES WERE ALL MADE TO PERFECTION!! I came here on a recommendation from a local that said this was the place to go for breakfast in Franklin. I wasn't that impressed with their breakfast selection as I thought it was pretty minimal and they offered more pastry options than anything else. My iced mocha was good and breakfast was overall pretty bland. I did enjoy my lemon bar that I got here for later but again it wasn't outstanding. It's a very casual environment a kind of seat yourself set up. Parking looked a little tight but it was a really darling part of town. It's obvious where it is because of the blue banners but the entrance itself is through another set of doors. read more
