Food is fine- nothing noteworthy....but the sour, nasty attitude of the owner and the greeter (likely not a position, but a fill in by whatever waitstaff is available) set the stage or a poor breakfast experience. I have been coming here for decades a few times in the summer and never really expected this level of indifference toward diners. Not likely to go back as the owner was the worst. There was an Asian waitress that was terrific with a big smile and very congenial. That was the only bright spot. My wife told the owner that she had a great waitress and she said "which one" and she pointed to her. The owner looked up at her, then looked away with indifference and without speaking. read more

We had our puppy with us, so they let us eat outside and even brought us out the food. They were very friendly and accommodating. The good came out piping hot. I was not a fan of the pancakes, but the sausage was really good. My husband really liked his, the bacon was crispy, the eggs cooked perfectly over medium, the toast was cooked well and lightly buttered, he wasn't a fan of the home fries though. We would definitely go back. I never went inside but everyone coming and going stopped said hello to us and of course my puppy, made for a pleasant breakfast read more

Horizon puts a fantastic breakfast out at very fair prices. Homemade home fries and baked beans are great sides. My eggs have always been delivered hot and exactly as I requested. This place is right across from the hotel and I can only eat hotel breakfast so many times. I remembered that I ate there last trip but due to covid it was my only choice so I decided to try it again. I walked in and was seated immediately, not very courteous but right away. No one working in the restaurant seemed to be happy to be there. I got coffee as soon as I sat down, along with a menu. I waited a little longer than I would have liked to put in my order but nothing unreasonable. My food came so quickly it made up for the time I waited to order. It could be that they only cook 1 or 2 tables at a time and were ready as soon as I made my order, never the less it was fine. I had 2 eggs, fried potatoes and local sausage links. The fried eggs were fried eggs, unless you really do something bad it is hard to mess them up or add to them. The potatoes were very good. Instead of using onions and bell pepper they use pepper and other spices allowing you to enjoy the potato not the extra things. The sausage was from a local place that I was not familiar with but was excellent. 3 big links that were not overcooked and full of flavor. For toast they offered orange marmalade in addition to regular jelly. I visit for work every 2 years. When I return I will come to this place again. They would be 5 stars if the servers were more friendly. In the service industry, the way you treat people is what brings them back. read more

This is truly a sweet family run restaurant for breakfast. My husband and I had breakfast here two days in a row. It is a warm and a welcoming place to eat. The staff is friendly and takes the time to chat with their guests. Day one, my husband had a bacon and cheddar omelette with home-fries and wheat toast. I opted for a bacon, egg and cheese on a bagel with blueberry yoghurt for my side. Our server John was fantastic! And the coffee is wonderful. Day 2, my husband had his usual:3 eggs over, home-fries and wheat toast. I enjoyed two blueberry pancakes, link sausage and coffee. I really appreciate that I can order real maple syrup for $1.95. Today was maybe my 3rd time in... it's a MUST Stop when we come to Wells. Today I had an ice coffee to pair with my Irish Benedict LOL. When I ordered the server asked me how I liked the eggs, Light (runny) Medium, or on the harder side. This is THE First ever person to ask me this! Thank you as I don't like it too runny!! The HOMEMADE Corned Beef Hash was made with love and the English Muffin was toasted just right. All this for under $18. A great meal, homemade with Love, and a fair price. See you soon !! read more

While the pancakes and home fries were very good, the beans not only tasted like they came out of a can, they tasted like can. The raisin bread wasn't as good as other places in town and the oj was sour and wasn't drinkable. Also, we weren't offered coffee refills until after we were done with breakfast. Pro tip: order the pancakes, they were light and fluffy and had a taste of cake batter. Omelets also received a thumbs up. Skip the beans and OJ. Also, after waiting for the waitress to pick up our credit cards, we discovered you pay at the counter. To be fair, if we had a different waitress we might of had a better experience. We were sat rather quickly and greeted without a smile.. strike 1 i'm also a server so having your waitress approach with a smile is key! Quickly took our order food came out fast.. mediocre to say potatoes strike 2 omelet was good but forgot the tomatoes i'd say a score of 6 for food The service was the disappointment No return of the waitress until she dropped of the check No "how is your breakfast"? No frills, delicious vacation breakfast spot. It was conveniently located across the street from our hotel. I loved their blueberry pancakes and local sausage. This place is fantastic. I have to confess, it was not my first choice to go here, but after the first choice had a 45 minute wait (for breakfast?), and the second choice was closed, I figured we'd give it a try. So glad we did. Was quoted 20 minutes, and sure enough we had a table after 20 minutes. Full menu, including some great "royal treatment" options, including the King, the Queen, the Prince, and the Princess. My kids got a kick out of ordering the prince and princess for themselves. Food was great, especially the hash and eggs (the King) and the kids loved their choc chip pancakes (the Prince). The waitresses really hustle in this place and genuinely seem to love working here. So, my 3rd choice has become my 1st choice. Will definitely be back the next time we're in the area. read more

Came here for a quick breakfast. The young girl who took care of us was very nice and accommodating our separate checks. I had a cheese and bacon omelette which had cheese and bacon in every bite and that's what makes it great! The whip cream on the hot chocolate looked and tasted homemade which made it all wonderful. We went to Horizons yesterday for breakfast. There were six of us. We were given the option to eat either in the dining room or the outside table. We chose outside as it was a beautiful day. Our server was excellent. She kept apologizing for service being a little slow. (The service was not slow at all) Everyone in our group understands with the shortage of help the staff was doing their best. (Our server did not say anything about being short staffed) she kept our coffee cups filled. Our food arrived very quickly everything tasted great. What a great find. Right around the corner from Hannaford. Owner was our waitress, great personality. Food just as great as the owner. If you want good food and nice people, this is it. Absolutely horrible. I had trouble even mustering up the desire to give 1 star. I sat next to my wife in our hotel while she gave the order to what sounded like a young woman on the phone. My wife was very clear. I went to the business and while I stood there waiting a female diner look me right in the face and said, "They have no idea what they're doing." I thought to myself, "Great." I get my order from a very disorganized hostess/waitress and leave. Low and behold I get back to our room and half the order isn't there and the other half was wrong. I called back and told them they needed to get their act together and that I would never be coming back. A few minutes later we received a call from the nasty rag who took our order. She attempted to apologize while at the same time blaming my wife for the screw up. Then commenced to tell me we all make mistakes. Her attitude and tone basically I dictated she didn't care right from the beginning of the call. She said, "I shouldn't have bothered calling. And she's right. You don't call a pissed off customer and then have an attitude. What was also interesting is looking back at one review that the owners/ manager responded to who wasn't happy they basically told him to go to Congdon's Donuts or The Maine Diner. Sounds to me like they don't appreciate the business and are fine with people going elsewhere so their rotten attitudes and horrible service stay quiet. I will never return or recommend this place to anyone. I know kids that provide better service and would make more doing a lemonade stand. They certainly wouldn't recommend that their customers go to someplace else. When you close at noon today do everyone a favor and stay closed for good. read more

I had a great breakfast. This place was pretty no frills and being from around here it's nice to have a decent simple good tasting breakfast. It was a Friday morning so not to busy and we were sat right away. Freddy (the host) was a great guy with a fun personality and great stories. We got a Jack breakfast with a side order of hashbrowns and an omelet. Food was quick and hot. Really great pancakes, nice thick bacon. What you see is what you get here. Wait time was crazy. Once seated the young waitress took forever to check in on us. Didn't get beverages till after that meal was brought over. Food was over cooked and burnt. Didn't seem like anyone there really knew what they were doing. Price was pretty fair for the area, wish our experience could of been better. read more
