Saturday morning visit around 7 AM. Cute and cozy farmhouse chic space, with ordering out of a display case and eating outside on tables. Friendly staff. Many options. The croissants all looked good in the case, but didn't come close to wowing as much as all the five star reviews would suggest. Only one out of the three was warm, and none of the three had that must-have croissant crackle that leaves crumbs all over your shirt. More of a dish rag feel here. On the plus side, the everything croissant had really good flavor and the chocolate croissant was buttery. Unfortunately, same texture as what you get at Starbucks. Maybe it was an off day? Not bad, but if you've had the croissants at Belleville in Portland or a handful of shops in Boston, this doesn't compare. read more

So good I practically moved to Kennebunk. Best of the best as far as French in America bakeries go. Croissants, bread, quiche. Everything I've had has been phenomenal. The line is ALWAYS out the door because it's just that good. read more

Before we left New York for our trip to Maine, we put a list together of all the bakeries that we wanted to visit. We stopped in on a Saturday after visiting a local farmers market. First let me just say WOW. Everything looked and smelled amazing. All of the fresh breads that we purchased were delicious. The coffee cake was easily the best I have ever had. Oh my God !!! The bakery opens at 7:00 AM. I arrived at 7:05 & the line was out the door. It took 40 minutes for me to be waited on as I stood out in the cold. Such nice people in line. 3 woman's saw me with my cane & offered for me to sit in my car & they would place my order for me, How sweet is that. I chose to keep standing but my knee tells me I should have taken them up on their offer. I was told the Chocolate peppermint cookies are a must buy so yes I picked up a package while waiting in line. My time finally has come I wanted an everything croissant & a seeded rye bread but both items were already sold out. I did buy an almond croissant, a cinnamon roll, & a lemon something muffin. All in all $41.00 later I was on my way back to our condo basically just across the street. read more

It is so quaint here, and there is always a line for a reason. The sourdough is insanely good, the pastries are always yummy, and the deli chicken salads and sammie's are also great. They sell a small selection of wine bottles, as well as a full coffee menu. In the warmer months the patio is the perfect spot to sit for a gilmore girls vibe while you have a coffee! read more

I met a former colleague at Boulangerie this morning and am so glad this is the spot she chose. In my excitement to catch up, I failed to get pictures of the darling bakery, their tasty offerings, its neat and tidy interior, and its outdoor seating, bounded by beautiful flowers! We were recently in France and walking in took me right back to Paris! They have a fantastic selection of freshly baked breads and treats, including everything you'd expect from a "Proper French Bakery". The staff is super busy, but were kind and cheerful. Another vacation in Maine, another breakfast at Boulangerie. We arrived shortly after 9AM on a Saturday morning and joined the line to order inside. Two different quiches were being offered that day and my wife and I chose the one featuring broccoli, scallion and cheddar. After trying another "French" bakery in town and being disappointed, we visited Boulangerie, and thank god we did! THIS is an authentic bakery! The chocolate croissant was out of this world, and for a chocoholic like me, their brownie called to me right away. We would've taken the whole store home with us if we could've. I have been going to Boulangeries for quite sometime now. They have a wide variety of bake goods that don't disappoint. The service was quick and attentive. I usually order a quiche, baguette, and scones to take home! Only downside is I wish they are able to warm up the sandwiches or quiches to enjoy. I will be returning. read more

Freshly baked goods in a beautiful, small bake shop/barn tucked behind downtown Kennebunk. The croissants are amazing and worth waiting in line for. Great lattes as well! Loaves of bread and daily quiches also looked incredible but we didn't try. Everything is a little expensive but high-quality. They offer a few limited "gluten-free" options but the staff flagged there is high risk of cross-contamination. Not surprising at a small bakery. We were in town for a couple of days and the place we were staying did not have breakfast. We noticed a guy had returned with good looking pastries and he told us about this place. We drove out to the store and were not disappointed. They had a good selection and it smelled heavenly. Got a cinnamon roll, chocolate croissant, they were really good. I visited Boulangerie during my stay in Kennebunk ME. It was cold out and around 8:30am but regardless, there was a line out the door and diners were eating their pastries on the outdoor patio. It's obviously a very popular place. I waited in line and it was soon my turn to go inside. The aromas were heavenly of all the fresh baked breads and pastries. Lovely bakery tucked behind the art market off the main road. They have a marvelous pastry selection. The everything croissant (with chive cream cheese) was extra special. This is probably the best and cutest bakery outside of Portland and Portsmouth meaning for French croissants, baguettes and other breads. Again we arrived late but not late enough to get a gluten free brownie and a biscuit. Seriously everything was close to sold out. Food is good and the customers keep coming despite the disappointment of not getting what they came for. I don't know if I can make it out at 7 am for pastry though. We also went with a scone and it was perfect. Typically, I find scones way too sweet and this was delicious. The service was fast and efficient. This place has been amazing from the day I fist set my foot here. Even during Covid times , they've managed to maintain the same level of service and quality. You can go to the bakery and pick up stuff and sit outside and eat or just take it to go. I would highly recommend thier coffee cake and biscuits. The breads are freshly baked daily and their service is unparalleled. There's usually a big line during summer but they're also allowing only a few customers inside due to Covid. We live a few blocks from there and when we aren't trying out new places (to be fair) , we stop by here to grab a weekend breakfast bake. Oh the aroma in this place! This was my first time visiting this bakery and cafe, and I honestly could have stayed for hours. The coffee list is simple, but there are SO many options for baked goods (sweets, bread, gluten-free options, etc.). My chocolate themed brunch was perfect! There is plenty of free parking, but on-site outdoor seating is limited (looks like they would have more seating indoors but-for the current pandemic). If you have a little patience, or just get lucky with timing, they have a great setting outside to sit back, enjoy your drink and food, and maybe read a chapter or two while taking in the classic New England scenery. Almond croissant was good, but not the best I've had. But still tasty. Blackberry yogurt muffin, while tasty was small for the high price tag of $3+ would not buy again. Okay, lets be real here. The fougasse. It was the perfect texture, albeit a bit over salted. Not the best I've had in the state, but holds its own. Their brownie is glorious. This is such a cute place. We could smell the fresh bread as we walked up to the entrance- mmmm. There was a great selection of loaves of bread which all looked fantastic. There were also meat pies, monkey bread, cupcakes, scones, different types of croissants, danish and more. It was so hard to choose!! My husband and I shared a beef and ale pie and the sweet scone of the day- blueberry. The beef pie was warm, flaky and the filling was so flavorful. The scone was not very sweet and relied on the fruit for sweetness, perfect. It was slightly crunchy on the top and soft and crumbly in the middle. They were wonderful!
