I usually get a lunch special which includes a smaller entree and choice of a soup, can of soda or an egg roll. Prices are fair and they're always quick in having your order ready. We ordered lunch from this local Chinese take out restaurant for pick up. First the guy who took our order screwed up. We ordered the seafood combo (D11) and we requested to replace the string beans (listed on the menu posted here on Yelp) with scallions and onions, more scallions than onions. Then he rushed to get off the phone with me before I made my second which was the chicken and broccoli lunch special with wonton soup and brown rice. Pros - you would get a lot for what you've paid off and the accurate timing of pick up was on point. The chicken and broccoli was pretty good and a good portion for the prize. Cons- The seafood combo came in with broccoli which there was no mention about. In addition, the quantity of shrimp, scallop and "lobster" meat, which was really imitation crab meat was minimal. The wonton soup was doughy and the broth was bland. Should we come back? That's something we have to think about. read more

I made an order at this place, first great food but the delivery guy was just rude. I didn't give him a tip due to the fact that I found out the amount they told me on the phone wasn't the same amount when the guy arrived with my order. so I didn't have enough for a tip then he asked me "your not going to tip" " I was shocked and I said no sorry" he continued "ridiculous, they don't even pay me to deliver " he just went on and on. My husband and I were stung on his abusive comments. Mind you the food came up to $68 for my family. I'm staying in the area on business & I stumbled upon this little gem of Chinese/jap delivery place. Omg!!! Everything is so fresh. On the 2x I ordered delivery.., I'm pretty sure they were here within 15 min! No kidding!!! I've had the pepper steak, soups, edemame (sp?) yellow tail sushi & California rolls. Everything was so tasty, fresh & delicious. And.... They have these little donuts that are served nice & warm with powdered sugar..... Holy Christ , this place is another crappy, zero flavor waste of time. Order Gen Tso and boy were do I start. Opened container and saw 40 tiny fried pieces of what I thought was chicken and I'm still trying to figure out what the assortment of crap is. Cut open a piece only to see a slimy brownish meat that looked like anything but chicken. The sauce had zero flavor. I spit that piece out and looked for another . Found one , cut it and again I saw a jello piece of who knows what. F ing disgusting! Next was the pork fried rice. Another disappointment! How can you screw this up? But the found a way. I got so lucky on my first try with Chinese food in Long Beach. This place is top notch and I am a Chinese food snob. It's not gourmet, but it's that perfect kind of Americanized Chinese food that is full of flavor, spice, and is the ultimate comfort after a really long day. I am going to drop some truth on you. Most Chinese places are disgusting. Within moments of eating it, you know I am right. Your pants start to choke your stomach. You become so thirsty and yet nothing you drink will take the pain away. Lord knows what goes on in those kitchens. What's worse, many have OPEN kitchens, so whatever nastiness they do to your food is being waved in front of your face, and yet you will still eat there because General Tso's chicken is too goddamn good not to eat. Well fret no more. Merry Land Chinese is actually not disgusting. It's pretty good. For cheap Chinese food, I would say it borders on amazing. Wow - Chinese food that doesn't give me heartburn! This place is great, both in terms of the quality of the food and the cost, served up in large quantities (so be careful ordering appetizers and mains). Items worth noting: actually, almost everything. The shorter list is what I haven't liked here, which really only consists of the house special soup. Chef's specials rock, and even the steamed low-calorie diet menu is flavourful, with personal faves being the boneless spare ribs, sesame beef, and salt and pepper crispy shrimp. You should also ask for (not on the menu) the fried dough dessert that they sometimes have by the checkout counter. Food is prepared very quickly, but delivery can take some time. If you're planning to come pick up take-out though, come with another person, as the parking situation around here is fairly impossible. read more

As far as Chinese take out goes, this was a lucky find. Fast delivery and clean food. If you order take out, you know what I mean. Not greasy, clear sauces, flavorful. Chicken and broccoli, the broccoli has been crunchy EVERY time. Sesame chicken, crispy pieces of chicken in a nice sweet sticky sauce. the shrimp in each shrimp dish has been quite big. The fried rice is also good, it's not just yellow rice with bean sprouts, it's actually seasoned. We will order here every time we want Chinese takeout.
