Dishing up some huge portions, this restaurant is just incredibly busy from the minute it opens. Really, the place wasn't open 5 minutes, 3 people almost knocked me over to get in the door in front of me. Walking inside I could see at first glance a plain, nondescript, dated, small town place. With 4 chefs behind the scenes starting their cooking rituals. Before I knew it, I could see almost 20 orders placed online and over-the-phone. Wow, I saw the place come alive like a well-oiled machine. The counter girls went into the back and started to package and prep meals. Entire orders were ready in minutes. I was amazed and impressed at their efficiency. My Kung pao chicken lunch was ready in 5 minutes. The portions of chicken were large and generous, full of complex, spicy flavors. I could still taste them, rich and satisfying. The chicken wings were just fantastic. I saw them coming out of the frier and added them on at the last minute they looked so good. Fresh, hot and crunchy. You could taste the marinade all through the meat. I made a hot killer dipping Duck Sauce by using their house, mustard and hot oil sauces combined. (For which I dearly paid for.. the following morning) I was both surprised and delighted by this little place. I'll be sure to be stopping back again soon and thanks again to the incredibly courteous staff and counter folks that helped me today. Take it from BIG Jim.. Cold sesame noodles didn't travel well just down the road to my apartment, sauce looked like it curdled up. Sesame chicken was questionable. Fried rice was just yellow rice from supermarket. Unfortunately, after just a quick 10 min walk back (ordered in person) with an hour of eating I was in the bathroom. Hours of pain. Will not be back here. read more

Love this place, I order their pork fried rice and chicken wings or their chicken and broccoli over rice. Each of their dishes has been delish every time. On sick days their chicken soup is also great. They're my go to place on Long Beach no doubt about it and the staff are friendly read more

Decent local Chinese take out spot. The menu has all the items you'd expect to find at any take out spot catering to the American palate. The food is probably a little better than average. Portion sizes are fair and the prices are comparable to all the other spots in the area. Service is usually quick and if you phone your order in, it's always waiting upon arrival. read more

Don't order the house special chow mein. It's all celery with small strips of various proteins. The sauce is pinkish and just wrong. Hardly any flavor whatsoever. They have better chefs working for them, but not this night. read more

I thought this place was going to be another gross "fake chinese food" take out place, but I was pleasantly surprised with how good the food was and how low the prices were! I frequent this place quite often now since I am now a local of Long Beach. My faves: Shrimp with garlic sauce or green beens: TONS of shrimp, less than $10. Sesame chicken: sweet and salt and YUM. Reminds of an orange chicken flavor minus the orange chicken, if ya know what I mean haha. Seafood soup: tons of different types of seafood, piping hot. Eggrolls: homemade, HOT, delicious. and huge. To the rest of the reviewers of this place, I'm sorry, but if you do not understand Asian culture, maybe you could mistake some mannerisms as "rude", but I assure you that's just the difference in cultures. Also.... you can't simply call these workers rude because they are always busting their asses every time I see them working so give them a break dude.... also.. RUDE? are u kidding me?!? Pure, greasy, cheap, delicious NY style Chinese food. This has been my family's go-to Chinese place for at least 16 years; it's longevity is testament to it's absolute mastery of Chinese takeout. No matter how much food you order it'll always be ready in under 20 minutes. The egg rolls are so good, I've been known to buy 5 at a time and eat them throughout the week. As for meals, I love the Kung Pao chicken, Shrimp chow mein, and wonton soups. The pork chow fun is a winner as well. My only complaint would be the quality of the pork fried rice has gone down in recent years (there used to be onion, veg. and a lot of big chunks of that good sweet red pork...now you're lucky to get five chunks of pork in a pint) however, I'll chalk it up to nothing on earth being as good as it used to be. Ordered a wide variety of items ... this is just the worst Chinese food I've tried in Long Beach!

Somehow or another the people who take your order and speak very little English will always get your order right. They always accommodate my vegan requests (no pig sauce! no dead fish sauce!) And the food is really yummy - the veggie spring rolls are the bomb. It's greasy, it's not pretty,but it's low down good NY Chinese food. Definitely our go to in LBNY. read more

The people working here are absolutely, 150% horrendous. Horrendous. They're rude, they flat out ignore people at their counter. Not me, cause I don't deal with that crap, but I saw them completely disregard three people waiting in line to chit chat. The food is not good, either. The only thing I will get here is chicken rice soup, simply because its on the right side of park avenue if I'm headed home. I wonder if its so bad and so cheap because its in the hood of long beach, right next to social security and a liquor store. read more

Number 1 is our go-to Chinese Take Out in the nursing home we work in. We order from them weekly. They are fast and efficient, usually delivering our large group orders in 30 minutes. If an item happened to be missed or if there was a mix up, they would send us the correct order or missing item in less than 15 minutes. You can't beat the low prices! Favorites in our department are: Boneless Spare Ribs Baby Shrimp and Chicken with mixed Vegetables Chicken Dumplings Fried Chicken with fries General Tso's Chicken They have also saved our butt once or twice during various snowstorms!! read more

I was surprised the food was as good as it was here. It's a run of the mill Chinese place in a strip mall. By far the best in long beach. I've been here several times and the food quality is largely reproducible. I was only let down once by a "on the dry side" lo mein. They are super fast in cooking time and they accurately take phone orders. read more

Food has always been good but lately there has been a change smaller amounts and bad service

My boyfriend and I just moved to Long Beach last month. We've been going around and taking all kinds of take out menus, but when we left Waldbaums a few weeks ago, we decided to give this place a try because it was in the same shopping center. The food was gross. We are vegetarians and got something called "Vegetable Won Ton Soup" which was misleading because it was actually pork won tons in chicken broth with vegetables in the broth. I couldn't even eat my chow fun because it was hard and sticky. Every time we pass it now we call it "no one" (rather than No. 1)Chinese because no one would be crazy enough to eat there twice. read more
