I love the food but he leaves the OPEN sign on and is Not Even Open. HE IS CLOSED 90% of the time. He needs more help I think.

Exterior Located in strip mall. I've driven past for years, finally ventured in. Interior I was surprised at how well appointed it was. Cloth table linens. Open kitchen. And how large. Customer Service My server didn't speak very much English but he was very polite and friendly. He kept having to ask the Chef / Owner questions and eventually the Chef just came over to help take the order. The Chef was very welcoming and personable. Food I really enjoyed my food. I didn't get exactly what I wanted because that particular combination didn't exist. My chicken skewer in my salad was a bit 'citrus'y and my steak was a bit chewier than I expected, but every was tasty and seasoned really well. Price / Value A found it to be a little pricey, but it matched the interior and the food quality. This spot isn't what you'd expect to find in strip mall - especially one this far out in the suburbs. This place is incredible. Chicken kabobs are the best I've had anywhere. Saffron rice delicious. Service amazing. I could literally eat here every day. He does a lot of catering so it's tricky catching it but when you do, you will want to go back again and again. Highly recommend. read more

I took one bite, and my eyes closed involuntarily, lost in the tender, perfectly seasoned ecstasy of his craft. My husband was looking jealous, so I had to share--had to, because it would have been downright cruel to keep all that goodness to myself. The meat was so long it hung off the edge of the plate--two gloriously thick, juicy koobideh skewers stretching at least 12 inches across the oblong dish. And every single bite? Absolute perfection. Charred just enough on the outside to give it that irresistible smoky kiss, yet impossibly soft and bursting with flavor on the inside. Mouthwatering. Indulgent. Unforgettable. Merci, Chef. Mersi Chef is one of the best Persian/Iranian restaurants in the Atlanta area and even in the USA. Both eating inside the restaurant and takeout/catering and party serving is amazing. My family has been eating here for many years and we are always pleased with the quality and flavor of the food. The customer service is top-notch, and the atmosphere of the restaurant is very warm and welcoming. For takeout, catering and ceremony serving, they have always been very reliable, arriving on time with the freshest quality of food. Have only gotten takeaway but the Ghormeh Sabzi is absolutely incredible. The rice is fantastic and fluffy, with distinct grains. Bread is soft and fresh, and the table bread with fresh mint, walnuts, radish, and feta is one of the best appetizers you could ask for. All of the eggplant and yogurt dips are delicious, but especially the smoked eggplant. I'm not a big fan of the lamb, however I don't particularly care for lamb in general. It was cooked and spiced fine, but I found it too fatty. If you enjoy fatty meats or enjoy lamb generally, I think you might like it. read more

The is the best Persian food in the Atlanta area I've had. As someone from the Middle East I have very high standards for Persian cuisine but this place is top tier! We usually get the chicken barg, lamb shank, and/or the Khoresht Bademjoon. The bread they serve is so fresh and warm. Absolutely delicious! The service is amazing our server was the owner and the chef and he was very kind and accommodating we love going back! The restaurant is a quiet calm place you can dress up or down to which is super convenient. The one thing to note are the hours, often they make close early or only do take out due to catering so just call before if you plan to eat there. It doesn't bother us we just plan around that because the food is worth it! read more

Best ever! My friend was visiting from out-of-town and we had three meals to eat together during her visit, this was one of them. We agreed this was the best of the three! (Yep, we're foodies.) My husband and I have been here before and love it, so I wanted to share the experience with my guest, also. The server was so friendly and welcoming. The restaurant is CLEAN! It was so good that I ordered a meal for my husband to go. I just couldn't bear the thought of leaving him out of this foodie experience. If I could make a pallet in the corner and spend the night in this restaurant, I believe I would just so I could be that close to the food. We stepped into the door around 7:20, but be warned they close at 8:30. Also they would prefer guests to make reservations prior to the visit; however the host was ever gracious and found us a table. When you walk into the space, you can see the open grill to the right with the chef doing his thing behind the clear glass screen. But what you will come to understand is that the lovely smell of something good to eat permeates the air and makes your stomach growl with hungry anticipation, yet you have no idea what's on the menu because you have not sat down yet. When we arrived to our table, we were asked for our drink orders. Since this is a new establishment, they have not received the permits for serving spirits, but they have a lovely Persian tea that I ordered. It smelled almost too good to drink. There were hits of cardamom, cinnamon, cloves and other exotic flavors, but the taste was beyond delicious. Our server brought over a beautiful tray of cheese, walnuts, mint leaves, radishes, and triangular slices of warm bread. The pleasure of using these ingredients together were simply delightful. It was interesting how foods we would not thing to eat together would make sense until you actually try it. The palate simply explodes with anticipation for more! We wanted the lamb shank, but instead we ordered the grilled rack of lamb. When we received our plates, to our surprise the chops were grilled and the tips had those bits of charred pieces that I like, but it's a preference. They were so good that I forgot I was inside a restaurant. I think I chewed up many of the tips. When the server came to retrieve my plate I should have been embarrassed by the way I cleaned the bones and ate a few of them too, but nope, I was not. Lol. I will definitely be back soon. read more

Mersi Chef catered my friend's wedding and the food was ok overall but the kabobs were not up to par with other Persian restaurants in the greater Atlanta area. 2 stars because the rice was very fresh, aromatic and covered in saffron--up to Persian standards. The chicken kabobs were tender, juicy and flavorful. However, the koobideh kabob was not it! I'm not sure if it was the cut/quality of meat or if it had excessive meat filler but it almost tasted like tofu? Least favorite kabob I've ever had. This restaurant was outstanding, from start to finish. Despite being in the midst of a busy take out operation, the owner took the time to warmly greet us and to promptly take us to our seats; he seemed genuinely happy to see us! This restaurant was the ideal size: large enough to be comfortable, but small enough to maintain a sense of intimacy. As soon as we were seated, a cheerful and helpful waitress helped us with our appetizer order. We ordered the Kashk Bademjoon (roasted eggplant with onions and mint); not only was this artfully presented, it was irresistibly delicious. Also included in the appetizer course were a plate of fresh basil, walnuts, radish slices, and feta, as well as fresh, warm bread. Between the Kashk Bademjoon and the appetizer plate, we quickly devoured the warm bread, which the attentive waitress promptly replaced for us. Not long after polishing off our appetizers, the main course arrived. I ordered the Salmon Kebab. This was truly remarkable. It had just the right amount of doneness: well-done enough to be fully cooked, but still soft and juicy. It came with three generous-sized portions of salmon, a cooked tomato, and a large portion of Adas-Polo (rice with lentils and raisins). My friend had the rack of lamb. His portion was enormous, and also came with a generous helping of Adas-Polo rice. The meat was so tender that it just fell right off the bone; it was mouthwateringly delicious! Between the generous portions and two baskets of warm bread, we were too stuffed to consider dessert. The best surprise, however, came at the end. My jaw dropped when I received the bill - all that delicious food, for only around $60. I could not believe my eyes! So, not only was the food bountiful and delicious, and the service great, it also turned out be quite a bargain! We will be back for sure - this is definitely one of our go-to restaurants. read more

They did a great job making it very tender, seasoning it well, and served it with enough gravy that I ended up eating what at first appeared to be a far too generous rice portion. Then I tried my friend's order of beef tenderloin kabob and momentarily thought I may have ordered wrong simply because both meats were well beyond above standard. This was a delivery order. I can only imagine how good this place must be if you have an opportunity to eat inside. Pretty easy 5 stars for Mersi. It's definitely on the list on a return trip. read more

Deliciously flavored & tender meat, soft saffron rice, perfectly chewy baklava, wonderful dressings and hot sauce (wish I could take the green one home with me!), healthy portions, and it doesn't break the bank! The owner (I assume) was incredibly helpful to boot - suggesting in the future I call to place a pickup order, as UE adds $14. Trust me - I wish this place was closer to me (and that I had taken photos of my food before devouring). Which is better, the outstanding excellence of the cuisine, or the loveliness of the family that makes it? Why choose! We came away from our meal here stuffed and overwhelmed by the food and the service. From the exquisite photos we'd seen other reviewers post on Yelp, we were stoked to eat here and the photos do the food justice. On the server's recommendation we ordered the Mirza Ghasemi (smoked eggplant with tomato and garlic) and the Chicken Soltani. The Mirza Ghasemi came with a side platter of mint leaves, radish, walnuts, feta, and butter, with a cradle of flatbread. The flatbread was clearly made in-house and was delicious. We put a bit of the Mirza on the bread and topped it with any one of the items from the side platter. Achievement unlocked: mouth joy! We ordered the Adas Polo (white rice and yellow rice with lentils and gold and regular raisins) to accompany the Soltani - beautiful to gaze upon and fantastic to eat. When we had initially ordered the Chicken Soltani and the server had walked away, I had a moment of recrimination that maybe I would be disappointed because so many places today overcook the chicken. But NO! This chicken came out tender and succulent and I was so pleased that I had to make a point of praising it while we were there. The Soltani comes with a beef kabob and it was also very, very good, but I was so overwhelmed with the chicken that I can't give it a fair review. We wanted to order dessert, but we were so stuffed from the generous portions of food, that we just couldn't. Service here was phenomenal and these were indeed lovely people. Go here, go often.
