I came in here today for lunch with a friend. It was a heavy rain day and so there were just 2 people in there so with us made 4 people. I called ahead to verify it was the buffet lunch today and it was. The place opened at 11:00 but the buffet was not all laid out until about 12:15. It was surprisingly large in size. With only 4 customers so far there was food for at least 40 I would say. What I found odd is that the food is all a really dark brown. I see it called Persian online but I asked a Persian friend about it and he thought it might be Arabic. Who knows! Normally a Persiain place says so in the name or on a sign. This place only calls itself "Mediterranean" on their sign and on their van. I have eaten Persian at many places including the middle east and I cant say I can ever recall all this dark brown food. The meats also seemed to be from maybe a day or more before. The lettuce though was definatly fresh. The vegetables were better than the meats. They also put this dried lime in one of the dish and I didnt like that flavor at all. It took me a good while to figure out what it was. The skin all brown and then covered again with a dark sauce. The bathrooms are not clean here. I could see the hall to the bathroom from where I sat and I never saw anyone go in there while I was there. I went in just before leaving. On entry it didnt look good. I go in one stall and the toilet paper is empty, just the empty roll but no tissue on it. I go to the next stall and oh geez, someone didnt flush! I expect this was there from the day before. Whomever did it I flushed for you. It is obvious the bathrooms are not tended to. read more

In comparison, each entree on the regular menu is typically $9.99 and up. Many of the regular menu items can be found on the buffet. Several of the buffet items aren't labeled, so you may have to figure out what some of the stuff on the buffet is for yourself. It's light, fluffy, and fragrant. I'm not a big fan of the steak and chicken kabobs. Oftentimes, the kabobs sit out for too long and the meats get dry. The ground beef kabobs usually hold their juiciness the best. They're usually tender and savory, almost like eating seasoned hamburger. The "fried shredded potatoes" are essentially hashbrowns. There's even a bottle of Hunt's ketchup next to it. As for the khoresht (Persian stews), it's not bad. I like both the ghormeh sabzy and the khoresht bademjan. Aromatic and flavorful, they go perfect on top of the rice. There's another stew on the buffet that I can't identify. It has noodles and Garbanzo beans. Desserts are lackluster. Shish Kabob has a small bar with four hookahs. The restaurant is old and the furniture is worn. They have a patio, but it's really only designed as a waiting/lounging area. If you're looking for the restaurant from the road, the sign outside says "Mediterranean Grill" in big letters and "Shish Kabob" in smaller letters below. read more

I tried the chicken, but the ligaments and tendons made the meat almost inedible. The rice with cranberries was good, but the flavor didn't mix well with the meats. We ordered take out catering order for 30 people last night for my wife's birthday. We got chicken barg beef barg and koobideh along with various sides khoresht and eggplant dishes. I have to say the food was exceptional. Most people at our party were asking where we ordered this from as they were delightfully impressed. There was so much rice and pita bread and salad that came with it that will be eating leftovers for the rest of the week. I've been eating Persian food throughout my life and this restaurant probably has the best value for what you pay for this kind of food. It's better food meat quality in my opinion than those fancier restaurants but the prices here are lower! I'm devastated. I absolutely loved this place. My friends and I came here at least once a month for lunch. A group of us went for lunch today. We were finishing up eating and a cockroach crawled across our table. We told the hostess and she killed it with a towel. She was apologetic and let us know that they have an exterminator that comes often to spray. We still payed for our meals and left. I can never go back again after seeing that pest on our table. I suspect it was a mexican restaurant but it has been renovated nicely and the staff are very kind and helpful. The kabobs are excellent, pretty much everything was. If you are looking for Gyro and some hummus this might not be your place but if you want a bit more and have time to sit down and enjoy your meal you should definitely check this place out. We arrived for dinner one cold night as they were getting ready for a really big party. A "we're closed for the night" party. A major affair. But that did not stop them from serving us. That wonderful lady and her staff took brief snippets of time out of their prep work to serve us. And they did it cheerfully and graciously. Our food was very, very good. Dinner started with (of course) some hummus, which was served with some really excellent naan-like flatbread. I liked it. And my dinner (for some weird reason I cannot remember the name of it) was excellent. It was a big plate of saffron rice, koobideh, and steak, along with some vegetables and a couple of stewed tomatoes. Delicious. It got better and better the deeper as I got into it. And the portion size was huge. All that delicious meat and I had to take home leftovers. Just fantastic. It's clear the lunchtime buffet is the major draw for this restaurant. On my trip from Knoxville to Atlanta, I would always stop for lunch or at times dinner. Their flavor profile is great and always fresh. Lunch Buffet is pricy and gone up to $12.99 but it's still well worth it. You get grilled bone in chicken , barg minced kabab, cube of steaks, Kofta Kabab, 2 veggie, salad , 2 to 3 kinds of rice, bread, hummus and few desert items. What a hidden gem, so happy I stumbled upon this great restaurant after leaving the airport. Could tell each product was ridiculously fresh and made to order. Another shocker is the beautiful different hand made tiles and wall decor really have Shish Kabob mixing more modern flare with an authentic Mediterranean vibe. Food was tasty, but the service was nothing to write home about. Last week I finally had talked my husband into trying this buffet. Well, we really were open minded about it. Arrived around 2:30 p.m., on a Wednesday afternoon, (still lunch time). Waited to be seated, and nobody came to greet us. We walked around the buffet. Someone was taking photos of the buffet while we were walking around. Still did not see any service personnel. Some of the Kebob pans were 1/2 empty. So maybe they were too busy cooking. That's OK. Husband was not very impressed about the food selection, and I personally am used to better customer service. So, needless to say we will not be going back anytime soon. Secondly, during the winter time they put inside gas propane heaters that are only meant to be used outdoors. It ends up stinking the whole place up. Nasty and very dangerous. It's not very fancy, and appears to be inside of a refurbished Burger King, but they've added personalized touches to the decor to make it seem a little nicer. The buffet tables take up a good bit of room in the dining room, even at night when the buffet is not available, so it's a constant reminder that the lunch buffet would be something to try. My first visit was for dinner, and my boyfriend and I shared an eggplant appetizer and the Sultani Kabob. Both were good and the Kabob was plenty for 2 people. One thing that is disappointing, however, is that there is no beer or wine available, though the owner says that it is in the works. I asked if I could possibly bring my own wine, and they seemed very confused as to whether the law would allow this, so no chance of getting a glass of wine with your meal unless you get carryout, which might be a good idea. The lunch buffet is a good deal. I believe it is $7.99, according to the sign outside, but that doesn't include a beverage. I think I had an iced tea which jacked up my bill by a couple more bucks. Kabobs on the buffet are very good, and there is plenty of fresh pita, salads and other side items.
