This place is a vibe good for pictures and very pretty. Turns into a lounge after 9 and waitress/bottle service girls are super helpful. Don't come hungry everything is a smaller portion and more of appetizer set up. The Brussels sprouts a must try and pizza it's spicy . The menu is limited my fav was the sashimi and the drinks. The bathrooms are very unique and each stall has a sink which is nice. We celebrated my cousins bday party of 13 tab was $900 and it really was mainly drinks and appetizers. 8 out of 10 due to the limited menu but overall shoutout to the DJ the best music was playing. read more

Reservations highly recommended! And make sure to have your ID. Your ID is checked (regardless of your age) on the sidewalk before you enter the facility. (Love this!) We were greeted immediately by the hostess and shown our table. We elected to take advantage of the restaurant week menu. We ordered the meatballs and tempura style olives for appetizers. Both are fantastic! The meatballs were fantastic! Love the seasoning! The tempura style olives were very tasty - and different. Personally, I think the light breading could benefit from some additional seasoning, such as salt, pepper, garlic, red pepper flakes - but, with that said, the olives were good and none were left. I ordered the Branzino. Absolutely delicious! Great seasoning! Perfection! My guest ordered the steak frites. The steak, prepared medium rare, was outstanding. Very tender. Delicious flavor. And the dipping sauce that accompanied the steak was "out of this world"! And, I LOVE LOVE LOVE the hand cut, "homemade" fries! It brought back memories of mom making French fries for us as a snack - watching her peel and slice the potatoes, seasoning the potatoes, and then placing rhesus potatoes in the very hot grease to quickly fry to just rhetorical right point. Crunchy on the outside. Tender inside. Needless to say, I would not let the waiter remove the plate until ALL of the fries were consumed! I ordered panna cotta for dessert. Perfection! Great way to end the dinner. I really like this place. My only negative comment is that the music is very loud- much more like a bar/club than a nice restaurant. General manager JOE was suppose to send me footage of the front where the security had the backpack last. Has avoided trying to send me footage. Beware the 'no shorts' policy! We drove over an hour to attend our friend's engagement party at Mesa and one of the men in our group was denied entry because he was wearing shorts. Now, I can understand upholding a dress code and not showing up dressed like a bum. But these weren't board shorts, or short shorts, or some torn up jean shorts. Think of dress pants that stop at the knee, with a button down, and dress shoes. To say we were disappointed is an understatement. That's a moment with our friends we will never get back, all because of Mesas' archaic attitude towards mens fashion. Our last experience at Mesa was excellent. We are so happy to give them a 5 star review. We had a late dinner that night where we tried many things from mussels and Mediterranean board to pizza and dessert. Everything was flavorful and tasted very fresh. I grew up in Spain so I always have a hard time finding seafood that can satisfy me but the huge pan of mussel at Mesa really hits the spot and I can't wait to have it again. I really appreciate Joe the manager stopping by for a chat with us and making us feel very welcome. Came here for dinner and drinks. Food was OK, nothing spectacular. Drinks on the other hand were delicious. Had two of the Mirame which was phenomenal. It is on the pricier side and parking is a nightmare. There is however valet. Came on a Thursday night at 7pm and it wasn't crowded at all. One of the best lounges around the OC! The ambiance & music are just top tier! My fiancé and I were a little bored, so we met with some of my girls and went to paint the town RED! Mesa was by far one of the best club/lounge experiences I've ever had in my entire life. First of all, all the hostesses were so sweet and accommodating to our requests and helped with even the smallest things. Then our server, Jordan, was literally the SWEETEST bottle service girl I've EVER met in my ENTIRE life! That is NOT an exaggeration. She went out of her way to make sure we had everything we needed, yet never was too pushy or forced us to buy extra bottles/drinks. She went above and beyond and offered to sit us at a better table just because she wanted us to have a good time! This type of service is truly rare. I'm so thankful for our amazing experience! Got tea with this place, but also don't tend to frequent these places. Definitely more of a lounge than a club or dinner place. They do have bottle service? (Cake service? Birthday service?) With sparklers but not the type of place to mingle about. I do admit the security is friendly and they have a concierge for the bathroom which is interesting, but they do gatekeep the preparation area I think for paid use only & I think it was unisex. Ambience wise.. overall lounge, keeping to self at your own table and talk over wine kinda mood. But the music was mixed horribly.. it was like an alright muffled bass for a while and suddenly out came hiphop that was blown very loud. The lighting inside & seating is definitely more jazz vibes? But then there's club like projections on the wall.. Anyways! FOOD- EXPENSIVE cheapest entree is $18 for a pizza- which I do get, is alright but the portions are so small. I got a palm full of fries for $8. Alright give or take with the "class" of restaraunt. Drinks are $9 beer ( they were out of half the menu at 8pm), and $15 cocktail drinks - fresh flavors, but not super special (canned lychee, pineapple had some weird slight cream/savoury flavor) Honestly, I could accept it b/c again I'm new to these kind of environments so I guess its kind of to be expected. The calamari was bomb, but again eh portion for cost, and took forever to make ( we were there for like 2 hours ish... and our appetizers/sides were spaced throughout the hours). BBUUUUT even if expected, it should be stated somewhere or mentioned that WATER COSTS MONEY. I was like the wait staff should differentiate between still (bottled) and plain (tap water) instead of offering the three (sparkling too) & then just choosing still when we said water ( as its also loud & not easy to clarify ourselves) . Its not mentioned anywhere on the site, menu, disclosed at all. I also feel like if we did ask for more water near the end of the meal, it makes sense to refill via tap/pitcher then give us two bottles we don't even touch and charge it. To me its like you'd get an idea from how someone is ordering (like balling out) /is whether they'd care about getting mineral spring water or not ya know? Also just never hurts to check. Maybe, it's typical for this environment but it's $6 a bottle for me to pee, I don't care for that. And honestly, if it were properly mentioned somewhere that'd be fine, okay take the $6 as my conscious choice, but definitely like a hidden charge situation that I'm not happy about. It just racks up when I'm innocently being hydrated. I am disheartened as again security is nice & respectful, I feel the girls just doing their business. I just think food portion wise- disappointing, some parts really seem budget cutted & sense could be better. Would not go back unless you have some sort of attachment to this place. Do take my review with a grain of salt as again I don't frequent these places, it just didn't live up to expectations of the what it attempts to. The seats were comfy though & parking was crowded but has valet (not sure if complimentary). I have been to Costa Mesa many times but I didn't know about this place until my friend invited me there. This place is so cool especially if you want to celebrate your birthday. The drinks are around $15 and up but the prices are reasonable compared to other places. If you love loud music and enjoy hanging out with friends on weekend nights, this is the best spot to go to. This place is 21+ only, so make sure you have your ID ready because there are people in the front to check your ID. My experience was great and it was safe. I recommend this place to anyone who enjoys drinks and music :) PS: This place gets more crowded after 10pm, but then when everyone starts dancing :) read more

Pretty cool spot for the weekend to hang out with friends. I heard that the line gets pretty long so my friend and I came pretty early around 9 and there wasn't a line at all but the only thing is that parking sucks because it's in the same plaza as CAMP so it might be hard to find a spot. Inside is super cute, good music and bathrooms are co-ed so don't be surprised lol. The setup is okay, it's meant for tables so you just saw people crowding around the bar so it gets really packed and crowded in there. I can't believe I've never been here before. My friends and I made rsvp for dinner and drinks. I love the ambience of the place. It's a cool spot to grab drinks and catch up. We came on a Friday night so there was a dj. the steak was so good and the sauce it came with it tied everything together. The scallop dish was my favorite. It came with a butternut squash risotto and it was perfection. I also tried the beesting pizza that honey on it. It was interesting. I love that it was both savory and sweet. I ate here the other day for my cousins birthday and the staff was super friendly and attentive. We went on a wednesday night around 7 and it wasn't busy during that time but did get busy later on. Food was delicious I tried the sliders and the mushroom pizza and those were really yummy. My friend and I sat at the bar after putting ourselves on a waitlist because we did not have reservations. We ordered calamari & garlic fries. Our bartenders were super cool & we ordered a few drinks. I had a whiskey sour with egg whites, it was well made. As the night went on it got very packed in there, and the bartenders were still super attentive even with a large crowd. PS the parking lot gets super packed & they do have valet but just expect to circle the lot few times in order to find a spot. It was on a Wednesday at 7:30pm and I'd say it's perfect timing because we were seated right in the middle and in perfect view of the entire restaurant. I loved how trendy the look was with a huge tree in the middle and open roof. We ordered a couple drinks, I had their Lavender cocktail and an old fashioned. We also ordered a couple of appetizers, cauliflower, sashimi and mushroom pizza. It was the perfect amount. The pizza was my favorite, absolutely delicious and covered in mushrooms! Literally once it hit 10:00pm is when a bunch of people arrived for the bar so we had perfect timing before it was packed. Also, the DJ was phenomenal! Playing all of the jams. Attended Mesa Lounge in the city of Costa Mesa, CA it was a date night with my husband and I. We wanted to go out and have a dinner and listen to music. my husband and I had reservation for 8pm, as soon as we walked in we were told that we needed to rush and order because in an hour our dinner table of 2 was going to become a $500 dollar table. The place becomes a night club at 9pm. We were given water immediately but food and drinks took a long time to be served. Food is tasteless. After the bad service and the long time waiting for everything, we actually had to wait for a long time just to pay and get out of the place. We thankfully left to another near by restaurant bar lounge and had way better service, food and drinks! First time and last time for us. Too pricy, service is horrible food is not that tasty! First thing-I hate this parking lot!! It's located at The Camp and parking is HORRIBLE. If I had know it was here, I probably would have picked a different location. Seriously awful parking. Probably depends on where you sat too. We came for OC restaurant week and it was a great deal! Service was a tad slow but not much you can do about it but catch up. Here is what we got: Calamari-crispy and tasty Meatballs-smelled amazing and had good flavor as well. Salmon-can't sub out though bc of fixed menu. Cooked perfectly and fresh. Shortribs-feel off the bones, great flavor as well Mixed berry panna cotta-delicious! Yum!! We both got the panna cotta but they accidently brought out a bread pudding so we also got to try that. I use to love coming here because it was not too far away from me and It always had a very chill vibe. It was grown and sexy. You can just sit there and order drinks, chill but now it's literally a club. I saw somebody's review that said it's a club and I thought they were over exaggerating but it's literally a club. unfortunately, I more than likely won't be coming back. First of all you walk in immediately it's a wall of people. You can no longer stand in certain areas, so basically buy a table or pay to eat food if you want personal space or a small amount of comfort Otherwise they cram you in front of the bars or in front of the DJ of their so-called dance floor. I could hardly move. I wouldn't doubt it was some kind of fire code violation. I have never been to an establishment that was so jampacked in my entire life. The security guards with their stupid flashlights telling you to keep moving , keep moving I mean, you can't even breathe or you can't even take a second to get your footing before they're ushering you off and telling you you can't stand here so you're chest chest with someone and it's just basically a money grab to cramp people in the smallest space and get as many people in there as possible. The music was OK. It was just old school snippets of early 2000 hip-hop but the place is way too crowded and they need to really do better. read more

Great music and ambiance, LA vibes in the OC, delicious food and strong drinks which was a great choice for my little brothers 21st birthday! I've never been here for dinner but to my surprise the food came out with burst of flavors! I personally got the steak frites with chimichurri and steak fries which not one thing was left on my plate because it was that good! The portion size was just right and not too heavy. As for our drinks I personally got the lychee martini which was super refreshing and the rest of the table got F*ckin Perfect which consisted of mezcal, strawberries, cucumber, basil and arbol bitters which was smoky and sweet. Only complaints I have were that the menu is a bit limited and the staff although friendly was not super attentive as I believe it was short staffed due to Covid. I love the energy here! When we first came in, they gave us rosé yum. The service was ok, the bottle girls were servers and I understand they are busy, but we had to flag them down for a while to get their attention to even order. The hamachi sashimi was my favorite it was so flavorful. We got the Mediterranean board, it was ok. We didn't finish it there was so much bread. The jams and sauces on the board were ok. The pizza was ok too. Probably wouldn't come back for the food. However, the atmosphere is really fun and lively. Okay, I messed up. I booked a table at Mesa expecting upscale Mexican food. Er...that would be Playa Mesa up the street. Caramba, mi malo. When I walked in, and looked around I had reservations even though I normally have no reservations about much. It was too hard to retrieve my ride, so I parked at a corner table by the cozy fireplace arms folded across my chest and waiting to be underwhelmed. Mesa is basically a bar with food. Crispy nibbles (which describes some of the patrons) to keep the healthy pours company. You will be informed that the table is yours for 2 hours, so bring your egg timer. At 9:00 PM the bar lowers the bar and it's no holds barred as the place gets packed with people taking a chance on romance. The Look: Mesa is a giant box with a plastic roof 2 stories above the evolving stories below. A huge painting of squiggles anchors one wall and wall of Moss hugs the opposite one. You can switch from licking your chops, or someone else's, to chewing on the Vegan wall. So much for decor. Mesa has been a fixture for 12 years featuring an army of chefs. However since going "Bottle Shop" it has been reanimated. Its now a lounge to scrounge up someone for Summer or New Years. Check out the website's photo gallery which looks like a casting call for the new Netflix series in pre-production. All thin, all skin, all in. The Staff: Affable which is better than laughable. They were all as sweet as fresh cookies. How refreshing to be greeted and seated on arrival with a smile instead of standing there like a lox watching some lemon tart twirling her fall with a vacant stare past you, texting her BFF about the new hot bartender or complaining that one for her French Acrylics cracked after only two days. The Bar Program: Designed to do what is required. Calm you down or amp you up. There are some signature cocktails, you know the ones with a whole chemistry set in them. There are elixirs and mixers, craft beers, and wine by the flight, glass, bottle, or bucket. There is a Happy Hour to make you happy or hope for a happy ending. My tried and true Whiskey Sour was better than most. I had a second...and then a third even though I had to be somewhere in two days. The Vibe: The hot and the hungry. The Food: At first blush I thought the offerings were merely incidental to the loungey atmosphere and only something to do with your free hand. I expected Yardhouse in Sheep's clothing. Wrong. The Happy Hour bites were all a cut above. The Chicken Bites were not simply McNuggets. They were coated in Corn Meal, nicely spiced and came hot and crunchy with two interesting house made dippers. The Fried Gnocchi had a crusty shell encasing a creamy soft interior. (Yes, you'll find those at the bar too). They were fun and delicious. (The Gnocchi, that is). The Brussels Sprouts took a turn in the Salamander after a stove top toss with some Sausage spears which added a nice touch and elevated this ubiquitous vegetable to something really interesting. The true test was the Spinach and Tomato Pizza which was NOT the soggy mess I expected. It had a carefully crafted crust that was slightly sour hosting charred Cheese and just enough Spinach and Tomatoes to assuage any guilt over having ordered it. This was a damn good Pizza. Although the Squid Ink Battered Fish and Chips looked intriguing (and it was, in fact, really good with perfect fish in a jet black cape) I opted for the House Burger. "Medium rare, please"? "Yes" Olivia said, "Of course". So easy to turn into an Instagram of Blah! This monster was memorable. Double thick bacon, perfectly medium rare and running with enough juice to send your shirt through the dry cleaner twice. Dessert: (At the bar after 9:00 PM, Son). The Chocolate Chip Cookie Bread Pudding with Vanilla Ice Cream disappeared as quick as half the bar huggers by midnight. Mesa was an ace, ah! Watch the Bar from afar and enjoy food far better than whats around in The Camp or the hood. read more
