Anticipating a busy Valentine's Day dinner on Saturday, my wife and I decided to "observe" Valentine's the day prior with an early dinner at Mesa de Notte. We made a reservation for 3 PM but when we arrived, it didn't look like a reservation was needed since there were a few empty tables. Our server presented us their menu, with a Valentine's Day special menu insert. We already checked out their menu online so we pretty much knew what we wanted to order. We started with the Calamari Fritto ($17). Reading how their Maiale Osso Buco ($32) is their standout menu item, that's what I ordered. My wife was going to order off the regular menu but pivoted to the Ravioli di Aragosta ($35) upon seeing the special menu. We were served freshly baked rolls topped with toasted garlic and accompanied by an olive oil dipping sauce. That was yummy. The calamari was well prepared, flavorful, tender and not rubbery. My wife liked her ravioli, commenting how the pasta was perfectly cooked. It was accompanied by 5 pieces of large shrimp. My dish lived up to the billing as their best dish! One of the wait staff even commented how it's the best dish on the menu. Tender and juicy meat accompanied by creamy, well seasoned risotto. The portions were also quite generous that I had to take some leftovers home. Oh yeah, like any good restaurant, the wait staff puts your leftovers in a container instead of diners having to do so themselves. Always appreciated! Service was on point and the ambience was equally nice...although located along Silver Springs Blvd/Hwy 40, traffic noise can be heard inside. Dinner for 2 came out to just under $120 with tip. We'll be back.

I think this might be the best Italian restaurant I've ever had the pleasure of visiting. We had reservations for 5:45 and when we arrived, waters and menus were set up on the table. James was our waiter with lots of helpful suggestions. I got the Italian martini and my husband got the Godfather. We liked each other's drinks so much, we ended up ordering another round and switching drinks. The bread was hot and delicious. There were people walking around and filling waters. We ordered the tuna appetizer with mango salsa and it was fresh and delectable. The eggplant and fettuccine Alfredo were incredible. My husband loved his cannoli dish he ordered. I got a peanut butter martini for dessert. Truly a memorable night!

When we arrived, a Happy Anniversary card was on the table. At the end of the meal, they brought out 2 little cheesecake desserts.

From the moment we walked in, this place made our anniversary feel truly special. The staff didn't just acknowledge it--they celebrated it. From thoughtful touches to genuine kindness, every detail showed that they actually cared about the experience we were having, not just the meal. The service was warm, attentive, and never overbearing. We felt welcomed, appreciated, and honestly spoiled in the best way. It's rare to find a restaurant that goes out of its way to create a moment, but this team absolutely did. The food was fantastic, the atmosphere was perfect for a special occasion, and the extra effort they made turned a nice dinner into a memory we'll always remember. If you're celebrating something important--or just want to feel taken care of--this is the place. We'll definitely be back. Thank you for making our anniversary unforgettable.

We had such a good experience in January so we went back in February. Parking was pretty easy. You can park in the front or back of the restaurant. Food was good overall. Service was good I thought until I learned that they charged us $7 extra for splitting a dish. That was a disappointing to find out after we got home. First, I only asked for an extra dish to share and the waiter never told about the extra charge in advance. Eating $19 dish and to pay $7 to split is nonsense. We were served by a guy who has been there for seven years, that was a dick move. Also seafood pasta I had today, linguine was overcooked.

Another lovely meal. The pre-dinner cocktails were delicious and the bread and oil/herbs are awesome. The Calamari everyone raves about in reviews left me flat and slightly greasy. The high point of dinner was my boyfriends Brasato Di Manzo. Truly epic my delicious. My chicken saltimbocca was health and tasted overly lemony and healthy. I was going for just low carb/healthy. We ordered desert to go. I'm yet again wishing they offered a free limoncello aperitif. It's truly the best Italian restaurant in town and would be an A+ if this was an option. read more

Our waitress was excellent! The restaurant is nice & pleasnt to dine in ! The food is delicious! It's a little pricey but it's the best Italian food I've had since I've been here in Florida! My wife & I had our 25th anniversary dinner here. This was our 1st time and we were truly amazed how good everything was. We had a cocktail before at the bar, a chocolate martini & a Manhattan & both were excellent. We also enjoyed talking to the woman tending bar. We shared Bruschetta for an appetizer and it was first rate. Balsamic reduction sauce was great. I had Osso buco & she had filleto Marsala. Both were excellent. Service was impeccable. I've had a lot of great meals here, the service is always great and the restaurant is always clean. I've only tried a handful of things on the menu because each one was so good I would reorder over and over. I've only tried one dessert, the chocolate Thunder cake, so good. Our group of 5 arrived for our 4pm reservation. We were promptly seated and waited on as well as taken care of during the entire dining experience and after we had finished. Wow....just coming off vacation and this was a fantastic Italian dinner. The vino, even by the glass might I add, was Belle Gloss Alturas. It's a wonderful paring for the cuisine. My families dinner consisted of the spaghetti with meatballs, which was well loved, and the veal piccata was outstanding! I will stop again just to eat here...Ocala you have a gem. There were 4 of us who went to Mesa De Notte for my birthday. We had made reservations and when we arrived the restaurant was a little over half full. We were seated right away, but our server was a little slow to appear. When she finally showed, she took our drink order and quickly disappeared again. When she finally returned we ordered bruschetta appetizer which was served fairly quickly and it was a hit at the table. She was very slow to return to take our orders, and once the entrees were served, she was pretty scarce. I had the veal saltimbocca, which was just ok. My husband had the steak with pasta which he enjoyed, & one of our friends had the lasagne which neither she nor I thought was good. Her boyfriend ordered a different pasta dish and he seemed to like it. We all had dessert, which is pretty hard to mess up. Overall I was underwhelmed... we might try it again sometime, but it's quite a distance from where we live, not sure we will ever go that far again. read more

Not sure on a large party, we were a party of 4. Normal tipping policy, they list the suggested 15, 20 and 25 on the receipt. Our experience was wonderful!

Just made reservations for Valentines Day.....Anything special I just Have to order?

No, not really. We thought the pasta dishes were great and priced fairly, but we didn’t have any of the more expensive veal or seafood dishes. Enjoy!

This place is amazing! A MUST SEE!!! I went there today for my two-year anniversary with my boyfriend. From the outside i didn't expect much but as soon as I walked in I was floored! The atmosphere was beautiful, romantic and VERY Italian. We immediately were seated (mainly because we arrived in between lunch and dinner). If you plan to come during dinner, I highly suggest making reservations! The bread they brought out was fresh, warm, and had perfectly crunchy crust. The waiter (Jason) was very friendly and knew all about the dishes. I ordered the Roast Glazed Lamb Shank and my boyfriend ordered the Shrimp Scampi. I was expecting hefty prices but even the steak and lobster dishes were reasonable. The roast lamb was cooked perfectly! I have never in my life had a dish that had so many flavors yet all of them melded together perfectly. It came with garden veggies and risotto. The veggies almost tasted like they were grilled and the risotto tasted sweet, this complemented the lamb which had a tomato like sauce over it. This is the ONLY restaurant that he has ever been to that actually got shrimp scampi right. They put the lemon in the sauce, which was very thick and even with the flavors from the butter and the garlic coming in, it wasn't too over-powering. Over all this was an amazing experience! I am definitely a fan of the this restaurant and WILL be coming back for more! read more

We went for Christmas Eve. We had a group and all of us had a lovely time. Our server (young man--forgot his name) was wonderful. Place was packed but service was pretty fast in spite of that! The entire staff was very pleasant. I was so looking forward to the beef Carpaccio appetizer, as it's hard to find. However, the left side of the plate was swimming in Olive Oil. It soaked in too much of the razor thin beef, and the presentation was lacking. For the $15.00 cost, I wouldn't order again. My Tuna on crostini bread was wonderful! However, the chef should skip the salsa. It's over kill as the tuna and other sauces were just perfect as is. My husband's two lobster tails were very good. In my opinion, the sauce was a bit much...it would have been better if not so much as to let the lobster flavor come out more. The crab cakes were excellent! The steak my sister had was tough. But, all in all, everyone enjoyed their meal!!! The desserts were divine! Not the best Italian I've ever had, but very nice! You shouldn't miss this Place. It's worth a try! Oh, and don't let the outside fool you, it's lovely inside. Plenty of parking in the back too. I would have given this a 5, but was so disappointed in the carpaccio . read more

I was in town visiting with my parents when they suggested we have dinner at Mesa de Notte. It was a Sunday and when we arrived, we were one of a few tables inside. I guess no one eats out in Ocala on Sundays. We were received promptly and seated at a table of our choosing. The service was great, I really liked Tabitha. She was patient with me as I had a hard time deciding based on the large menu. There are not only pastas, but pages of entrees. I also had many questions that she received well and provided knowledgeable answers. Of course, what I wanted wasn't on the menu. I prefer spicy sauces as opposed to creamy ones so they were kind enough to let me order off the menu. I ordered Shrimp Fra Diavolo and it was pretty damn good. I also added some mushrooms and broccoli. I would have preferred wild mushrooms or portobello but it was good nonetheless. Their wine list was reasonably priced as were their entrees. My parents thought this was a bit more pricey; however that may just be in terms of Ocala as it wasn't expensive comparable to Denver. All in all, great service and great food. read more

A great local restaurant offering authentic Italian dishes with excellent service - the spaghetti with sausage comes highly recommended! Our family of 4 enjoyed a delicious dinner tonight, so this is a great spot for date night or a special occasion. Entrees include soup or salad and bread to start and are in the affordable range. Perhaps best of all, the staff was friendly and attentive as we had no less than 4 people stop by our table to help serve and make sure we were enjoying our dinner. read more

We just returned from our son's wedding in Ocala where we had Mesa De Notte cater the rehearsal dinner at a local residence. There was just under 100 attendees and Julian Osorno, General/Catering Mgr. was such a pleasure to work with and he took much of the pressure off of my wife and I so we could enjoy the evening. The food and staff were excellent and made the evening perfect. We could not have done this without them. Thank You To All! read more

We stopped by this evening, BEST FOOD WE HAVE THE PLEASURE TO HAVE SINCE WE MOVED TO OCALA ONE YEAR AGO. Antipasto Freddo, wonderful, Mushroom Soup, you must order one, Fish Special was Salmon in a very tasty Champaign sauce with pasta, so tasty and perfectly cooked. I've been driving past this place for years now. My only regret is that I had not gone sooner. The food was fabulous arguably the best pasta dishes in all of Marion county, the atmosphere had such a great vibes. The best part though was the service. Returned to Mesa de Notte to celebrate our 46th anniversary. Again, a great meal! The veal marsala was excellent, Mario, server, was most attentive and friendly.
