I'm Meshuga for Meshuga 4 Sushi! Innovative rolls and generous portions make this place a definite yes! It's a popular kosher takeout and catering destination. I had the sushi donut platter. You get to choose the donut flavours you want and they come in a box of 4 or 8. I chose the California Pizza Donut, Sweet Potato crunch (vegetarian), and Alaskan Special. It's presented in a beautiful box and would make an excellent gift. They were very generous with the sauces too which I love! The donut flavour I chose for myself was the California pizza. It had crispy fried rice cut in half with Kani inside and was topped with sweet sauce, spicy mayo and nacho jalapeño garnish. Such an interesting flavour combination. So good! Check out my reviews from previous years on the other two flavours. They are also excellent! Kudos for also having a vegetarian option, Love it! We also ordered tempura and I shared it with another person. Such a great shareable appetizer. Lastly we ordered some Godzilla rolls. They are larger sushi rolls. I did to go but I also was interested in their limited time only for channukah food. ( latke sushi) I got latke sushi tuna and latke sushi salmon and their creamy crab cakes. Everything is good portion size sauce on side. I used my own soy sauce since it was Togo and it was excellent. It's a small place and the people on the phone were sweet. Burrito was great! It satisfied my craving, had generous portions and everything tasted super fresh and flavorful. Staff was able to help me order from the kiosk inside and answered my questions over the phone. They still took my order even though I came right before closing. Relatively expensive for what you're getting but I don't mind paying a little extra to support a Jewish business. The only downside was you couldn't order at the counter and you had to use the digital kiosk which was frustrating but understandable. I love the sushi here. It is very fresh and so many rolls to choose from. What i love about this sushi spot is the sauces are delicious too especially there jalapeno avocado sauce. I love the variety of food besides sushi u can get. Salmon burgers eggrolls fish nachos etc. Service is pretty good. Never had an issue with them. I can never find sweet potato rolls at places - but Meshuga 4 Sushi has two! Score! Everything we ordered was delivered perfectly and tasted delicious. Loved the Cannon Ball and Extreme Sweet Potato roll. My favorite of the bunch though was the Crunchy Munchy Baked Salmon roll - 8 pieces stuffed with baked salmon and sesame seeds with tempura and sauces. Spicy and nomz. The sushi was just ok, mediocre, I had better from my local grocery store. The ginger was terrible, very dry, with a mild unpleasant smell. Boy does this place know how to make sushi platters! When I've had family in town, we've ordered the 100 specialty roll platter and it's been excellent every time. You can choose the rolls you get (including the low-carb rolls, which are great). The platters are made so beautifully and well organized and hold up well! The platters also come with all the condiments, fixings, and ginger you need. Most importantly, the sushi is delicious! Kosher sushi! There are 2 locations: one on Pico and one on La Brea. Both are a delight to work with. They have a very nice and more unique selection not vegetarian/vegan friendly rolls. My favorite of which is hands down the Green Dragon Roll (not pictured because I gobbled both up in an instant). If I could learn to make it at home myself, I certainly would! The flavors are amazing together and always very well presented. This location has 2 spaces available on the street in front for brief customer parking for order pickup. The ordering process is streamlined by a very neat giant tablet for you to create, place, and pay for your order. Wait time is pretty brief. Such a huge disappointment! We were hosting someone who keeps kosher and I asked for a couple of paper plates and the guy behind the counter had the rudest attitude and said I can't give you plates. I explained the situation and he said with an attitude, here's two paper plates but i cant give you 5 paper plates. I iust spent over $130 to feed 3 kids and 3 adults. I will never eat or order from here again. I even explained we were hosting someone and we needed a few plates. Beyond disappointed in this establishment! On my 2nd visit I had their new Poke Bowl with spicy tuna, edamame, avocado, rice etc. The portion was large and it was phenomenal..best poke bowl I've had in LA this year and it being kosher is a great bonus! My seared albacore was also a 1st place for the year and the popcorn imitation shrimp(real shrimp being shellfish isn't Kosher) super yummy. Staff is A+-one of the best in town. I just ordered from this restaurant after recently having the Labrea location, and I was really disappointed at how the seaweed salad was actually a bunch of cucumbers with a little seaweed on top. $13 for a small thing of cucumbers is very misleading, especially considering it doesn't list cucumbers as part of the SEAWEED salad. Besides that, the flavor was there but I will order from the other location from now on. read more

Three stars because while the food is incredible and out of this world as always, the service is poor. I've been coming to this place since they opened on Pico and loved the staff they had before the pandemic. Now I understand wholeheartedly that service workers are stressed and they feel badgered especially in the heart of Pico Robertson. I myself work as a Barista in a coffee shop so I have some sympathy however I feel the way I was addressed was completely unacceptable. I made sure to look at their menu online, so I came in knowing what I wanted. There were two people in the front, a shorter woman and a man in a green jacket and cap. I wasn't sure where to order so the woman snapped at me to give her a second while she finishes up with packing a previous order and the man in front asks me "know what you WANT? What do you WANT?" And neither were wearing their masks. I will say this: I go out of my way to make sure customers get what they want and I get a return on that by being treated nicely back (I also get compensated through nice tips), and I do believe that nothing should be taken so seriously except to get the order right. Perhaps in the future, the employees will be a little bit nicer when ringing customers up because nobody wants to be treated like they're not wanted. read more

Now, before I start my review...I must say that I was born and raised in the San Fernando Valley. LOL So, when I venture to this side of LA I'm not accustomed to the neighborhood. With that being said, I came here after leaving another sushi joint because the only options were salmon and tuna. Here's where my blond moment comes...It wasn't until my friend pointed out (because he realized the area we were in) that those were the only choices because it's not kosher to have anything else. Oh, slap myself on the forehead. Ugh! LOL :) Anyways, I actually liked the place regardless of the few options. I had the veggie tempura roll (YUM!) and the salmon lover roll (Yum...LOTS AND LOTS of salmon!). Now when I mean few options, I mean fish wise. They do have "shrimp" and "crab" but they are (of course!) imitation. Anyways, it's not much of a sit down kinda place. You order at the counter, find a table to sit down at, and they bring your food out to you. What I found amusing (in observation) was that the sushi chefs were Hispanic/Latino and the owner was Jewish (You can tell he was the one near the register.) LOL My overall experience was good. The guy bringing us our food was very friendly. He even gave us options on sauces and he brought me spicy mayo and ponzu. Cool! I also got a free soda for my Yelp check-in. :) IF (big capital...IF) I really wouldn't mind eating here again. LOL Prices were very reasonable too. My two rolls cost me under $20. NOTE: I'm really oblivious to these things because maybe I just don't believe things like this would ever happen to me, BUT my friend said people were staring at us inside the restaurant. I normally don't see/worry about anyone else when I'm spending time with my friends. Well, I guess they were staring because we were the ONLY Asians in the joint who weren't Jewish. Have you heard about all those Japanese Jews in LA? Oh wait, they don't exist. Neither does authentic kosher sushi, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't go to Meshuga! Japanese Pizza isn't actually a thing, but Meshuga makes it their thing. It's hard to hate on spicy tuna over crispy brown rice. Shishitos are always welcome, and Salmon Lover Roll is fresh. The spicy slices of salmon with blackened edges of pepper are pretty refreshing. Since shrimp just can't be kosher, why not just make it from scratch? That's what they did for the Spider Roll. The shrimp tempura tastes pretty scarily close. Meshuga may not be the most authentic sushi you'll ever have, but it's guaranteed to be fresh and fun and I'm guaranteed to go back for more. read more
