This place is consistently good. Huge portions (when you dine-in), and pretty quick service. Anyone giving low stars doesn't understand how the system works. You order, they grill your meat and, once it's ready, they call your number ask about the sides. Almost every time I go here, there's someone who thinks his number should be called earlier, and keeps asking what number they're up to. Here's the thing - because people order different things and some orders are larger than others, the numbers aren't always called in order (gasp!), and I've seen some people be very annoyed by this. If you're looking for great food, and you understand that you can just chill out until your number is called, then it's a great experience. If you're going to be annoying and drum your fingers on the counter and stare down the staff until they call your number, then you won't & you'll come on here to shift the blame to the restaurant. read more

I dont know what all of the 1 star reviewers are yammering about. I have been to both of their locations a half dozen times and it is my fave falafel place in LA no comparison. staff has always been extra friendly and accommodating, even when I ask to put too much stuff inside the sandwich and they cant close it... their salads, baba ghanoush, falafels, and matbucha are amazing. it is a bonus that they have fries and roasted cauliflower. (many places do not have these nor their bread selection). in any case, even if they were rude (which they are not), I wouldn't care because when I need an amazing falafel, I only go here. Only other falafel joint that barely beats it is L'as du Falafel in Paris. But Apple Maps says cannot drive there... On a side note, I pretty much only like Israeli falafels because Syrian/lebanese/yemeni/armenian dont put salads like the Israeli joints. if a falafel sandwich looks like a thin burrito, run away! read more

I picked up from here yesterday (7/14) and the food made me sick, so I will not be returning. I ordered the mixed shwarma with rice, red cabbage, cucumber salad, beet salad. They are really big portions, they cram a lot in those takeaway trays, so I ate about half of it but had a bit of everything in the plate. Within 30 mins I was feeling ill, then was up all night and into the morning going to the bathroom. Now its 7/15 and I'm still feeling queasy. 0/10. I've been a loyal customer, visiting at least once a week, but the customer service has gotten worse with every visit. This was the last straw. We were ignored, and the staff was incredibly rude. The woman working in the kitchen was especially disrespectful and made us feel completely unwelcome. The food may be good, but it doesn't make up for such poor customer service. Management needs to hire friendlier, more professional employees who know how to treat customers with respect. I will put up with a tiny parking lot, crowds of hungry ppl, and long waits to get anything at Dr Sandwich. My go-to is the Vegetarian Sabich plate that comes with hot fluffy pita, fried eggplant, and your choice of as much as the server can pile into the 3-compartment takeout platter. I typically get the creamy hummus with Tahina and whole marinated garlic cloves, the Israeli chopped salad, grilled onions, grilled zucchini, cucumber and onion salad, and of course, the eggplant. It's enough for three meals! You can eat in or takeout, but I bring it home and divide it into storage containers for the rest of the week. Highly recommended. read more

First of all the ordering process using the Yelp app went fine and I placed our full order thru Yelp, it was roughly going to be a 30-45 minute wait for delivery. Very good Ordered it with a couple orders of Pita. Fried Cauliflower that was light. Marrakesh Salad: Chicken breast with harisca, Israeli salad, marinated onions, white cabbage, eggplant, parsley, lemon, and olive oil vinaigrette, garlic confit, topped with tahini. Chicken Schnitzel Pita: Thinly pounded chicken breast. And it was fried to a perfect crunch!! Beef Kebab Plate: Ordered it with Rice, red cabbage, Israeli salad, beet salad and tahini. I've always seen a buzz around this place so today I went to check it out. Parking in front and also you can usually park on Doheny Dr. nearby for an hour. They make fantastic fresh chicken and beef shawarma and probably the best falafel wrap (in a tortilla) that I've had in Los Angeles. You can even get a "sabich" here (a sandwich stuffed with fried eggplant, hard-boiled egg, hummus with tahini sauce). It's busy and loud inside but I really like their terrace outside if you want to eat on site. Super popular with the Pico-Robertson neighborhood locals (and they are picky!) so you know it's good. They really take care making the sandwiches; I watched the kitchen assemble my falafel tortilla wrap and it was beautifully put together. On fridays they make a "chicken schnitzel" challah bread...would love to try that. There are some "Dr. Tortilla" wrap specials that also look delicious. Went to this restaurant recently and was honestly so disappointed. We ordered two shawarma baguettes, and right away the worker left the bread on the grill too long and almost burned it. As I was still trying to ask for toppings, he rushed through the order and started adding the shawarma before I was finished. When he brought it back, I asked if he could add eggplant since I didn't get the chance to earlier. Instead of helping, he became rude and went on lecturing me for ridiculously long about how inconsiderate and selfish it was for me to ask for another topping. I understand it might be inconvenient, but that's no way to speak to a customer. He could have simply offered it on the side and moved on. It got worse when we asked for pickles on the side and he said he'd "do us a favor" by giving them to us. The food itself was overpriced and just average, and $7 for small average fries is honestly ridiculous. Their falafels are always very flavorful and never dry. You can choose the sides you like. I always get hummus as my dipping sauce for the falafels. I add some tahini and chickpeas in the middle and sprinkle some red seasoning on top. It comes with a few other sides as well to fill up the plate. They also give you a pita. It's a large serving and usually lasts me at least two days. I almost always order take-out here. The ambiance is very casual. I think it's a nice place to dine solo during non-busy times. This is a small restaurant and it can get very crowded and loud during peak hours and on Sundays. Service has been mixed when I've come here. However, there is one guy at the counter who is an absolute doll and always makes my order extra special. I'm always so happy when he's the one preparing my order. Israeli salad, egg-plant, pickled onions, whatever will be made available as it's carried across a cafetaria like make-line. The pita was so incredibly warm and fluffy. Just the way I like it. I don't know if pita comes a la carte, but I believe the owners or whoever made my ordered, gave me a few fries on the side. And for that I was greatly appreciative. I came here for the first time with coworkers who already love it and I have to say it was super delicious! I've never had such nice, thinly sliced chicken shawarma and it tasted great. The pita was also super fluffy and yummy, and the marinated garlic you can get on top of your hummus is drool-worthy (I'm a big garlic lover). I have to say it is a bit pricey ($22 for a plate) but then again look at the area it's located.
