My friend and I were a bit boozed out from the night before, so we stuck with a handful of sharable platters including California rolls and ceviche, all tasted amazing. Nothing was too heavy and the portions were all manageable, not too small or too large. The outdoor seats were very cushy and comfortable, it's perfect for sitting with your fur baby, and the restaurant provided water bowls upon request as well. Servers were all really friendly and the food did not take long to come out, though it wasn't too busy that Sunday afternoon around 3pm. Would definitely come back here to try the cocktails with other fusion bites next time we're in the area!

We ordered rolls, salads, ceviche, and pasta, but everything was just okay--nothing memorable. We had to ask for wasabi and ginger three times, and the server seemed confused. Service overall was friendly but very slow, and the restaurant wasn't even full. The pasta was a miss, and the "salad" wasn't really a salad. Drinks were the highlight--great martinis and well-made cocktails. That said, our bill was over $600, and none of us left full. Portions are tiny. Go for drinks and ambiance, but I'd skip the food.

Chirashi - the fish is QUALITY. 2 types of each fish, so it's still shareable with a friend. Standouts: their Uni was so creamy and fresh. Also loved the kanpachi pieces - firm and flavorful. Hamachi was also so buttery and fresh. The Miso Chilean Seabass skewers were the best. So tender, soft and grilled and marinated perfectly. What a nice thick satisfying chunk. This is a must order. Pressed sushi - these are hard to find outside of Vancouver so it was a delight to see them! We had the salmon and hamachi version. Loved that the Hamachi had a delicious spicy kick to it! The matcha mochi chocolate cake was so soft, gooey with strong matcha flavor! Great way to end the meal. It's on a poppin street on West Hollywood. We walked to Dayglow for matcha and the Pacific Design Center for inspiration.

It has the warm, welcoming feel of a family-owned business. We ordered the Kiss of Fire roll, spicy tuna roll, and a selection of nigiri (I've attached photos of all of them). Everything was delicious and clearly made with very high-quality fish. On top of that, it's incredibly well-priced compared to nearby alternatives. Excellent value for the quality. We will definitely be returning!

The staff was friendly, professional, and welcoming throughout the evening. There were some delays in getting a few of the dishes to the table, but the service itself was still good and the servers did their best to take care of us. The food was fresh, high quality, and definitely enjoyable. However, I'm someone who loves fine dining and high-end restaurants, so I tend to be very picky when it comes to reviews. While everything we ordered tasted very good, there wasn't a single dish that really stood out as unique or unforgettable. Nothing made me stop and think, "Wow, I've never had anything like this before." The food was delicious, but not necessarily memorable. The pricing is on the expensive side, but that's also what you would expect for a restaurant of this caliber and location, so I don't consider that a negative. Overall, we had a nice evening, enjoyed the food, and appreciated the service. I would absolutely consider coming back in the future to try more items from the menu. Maybe there are some signature dishes that we missed this time around. If a future visit impresses me a little more, I could definitely see this becoming a 5-star review. For now, it's a solid 4 stars from me.

For me, the experience was less successful mainly because of the fish dishes. The flavors felt too strong, and some of the dishes gave me the feeling that the fish was not handled or seasoned properly, which affected my enjoyment of the meal. I was expecting more balanced and fresh flavors. On the positive side, there were a few dishes I did enjoy. The mushroom salad was very good, and the cucumber salad was fresh and enjoyable as well. Those were the highlights of the meal for me personally. The atmosphere in the restaurant was pleasant, the place itself looked nice, and the staff were friendly and attentive throughout the evening. Still, overall, the food did not really suit my taste, so for me it was an average experience rather than one of the better restaurants I've been to

The restaurant is clean and cozy. Dinner promptly started around 6pm. The 17-course omakase was absolutely amazing for a price tag of $195/person (not including the mandatory 18% service charge and tax). Most, if not all, the fish and ingredients were flown straight from Japan. Everything tasted so fresh and delicious! My favorites were the shirako and monkfish liver nigiri since these are delicacies that you don't see often in omakase menus in the US! I was so excited to see such variety thru out the meal. Overall, I had a blast at Yasu and thought that it was a 2-hour well spent. My belly was satisfied and I didn't feel the discomfort of being ridiculously full.

Chef Yasu was serving us and we were the only ones in the restaurant at the time so we had the full attention of the staff! All of the fish we had was of high quality and it was great being able to see the chef prepare the sushi in front of us as we were waiting and eating. You get to experience a wide variety of fish and some which you may have not had before! Several favorites of mine throughout the whole meal were the monkfish liver, tamago, & scallop! I would recommend coming to Yasu for any special occasion and you will get to eat some amazing sushi here. The overall ambience was fancy but also welcoming and comfortable. It's more suited for smaller groups so I recommend your max party size be around 3-4 people. The pricing for the 17 course omakase menu we had was quite reasonable with picing at $195 per person with + 18% service fee and after tax it came out to be around $250 per person! The value and service you get here is phenomenal and it's one of the better priced options for omakase in LA.

This location actually had the Hirame sushi which was so exciting since we haven't been able to get it at any other locations in years since it's always sold out. The service was quick and they were kind. I will say the busier it got the less attentive they were and forgot to fill our water and ginger. Though I love sugarfish, the proximity of your table to others will always be really uncomfortable and awkward for me as people literally have to press up against your table to sit in the booth directly next to you which has always been really weird to me. But the food was great as always. It's sadly over $100 for us to get the trust me and nozawa trust me which feels pretty high but the quality of fish is always exceptional.

I feel like that sushi place is on a diet very bland, nothing special on the menu...def not coming back and sad about the 180$ I wasted. A place that can't get their sushi rice in order is not worth a star.

Rockpool sounds a little generic for a sushi spot, but the quality of the fish is quite delicious for the value. In particular, the lunch omakase is probably amongst the best sushi deals I've had for a sitdown spot. I'd definitely take it into consideration over let's say... Sugarfish. People often talk about how "fresh" fish tastes at sushi restaurants, but I feel like the best raw fish is often aged to an extent. The taste of the fish here is good, but I don't feel that they always use the best cuts. For example, the otoro was tasty, but it was not as marbled as I'm used to seeing. That said, another critically important and often overlooked component of sushi, particularly in handrolls and nigiri, is the rice. The rice here is delicately warm, pairs well with the fish, and has a pleasant, slightly sweet and vinegary taste. Simply delightful. The miso soup was also quite delicious, with a hearty, deep, set of flavors in the soup stock, and the scallop hand roll here was so good, I forgot to take a photo before devouring it haha. The lunch special should be enough food for most folks, but you're always welcome to add additional items to it! Now, is it good enough for me to try the more expensive dinner courses? Debatable, but it might be... just barely! The value proposition is hard to ignore, though. It's certainly one of the best deals you'll find on the Westside.
