We went here on a Sunday during a holiday weekend so it was not too busy. Service was excellent as usual. They changed the menu by adding some new items. I noticed that a few have passed the $30 threshold, so for Tex-Mex that is getting expensive. Despite having a bad experience with the fajita meat for three consecutive trips, the wife opted for the fajita salad. This time was a winner. The meat was tender, smoky, and good quality with no gristle. She loved it. I had my usual Saltillo which is great. I love their cheese enchiladas. The kid had her usual steak taco and the meat was tender, smoky, and delicious. The drink menu changed a bit. Prices went up of course, but my "grade" frozen was gone so I had to settle for a regular. Overall, everyone was happy. This is a pretty decent restaurant. The ambiance is slightly elevated and dimly lit for either a nice date or just dinner with family and friends. The service was great, the they were quick and efficient which made the food come out hot. The prices here are also reasonable. $5-$15 for drinks and $15-$30 for entrees. I don't have anything to complain about, but this is your typical Mexican style restaurant. Nothing really blew me away, but I enjoyed eating there. My sisters and I always pass by and can just feel the fun vibe and music coming off the building. We decided to come on a slightly chill day to hang out and have a girl's lunch on Sunday. The interior decor was so cute and I loved the holiday decor that was there as well, Starting with the service we were quickly welcomed by the hostess staff and lead to our seats. They got us waters and chips and salsa quickly. Diana, our wonderful waitress, was quick to get our drink orders in. I LOVED my frozen Strawberry/Mango marg and my sister enjoyed her Wanda as well. I like looking for good Tex Mex whenever I come to visit Dallas, and overall I thought this place was pretty good. I ordered the brisket tacos, which were tasty. The prices were not too bad, compared to prices I've seen at comparable spots in the Bay Area. The restaurant itself has a nice vibe to it, with some cool decor and lighting. The reason why this review got knocked down to three stars was the strange experience my friend and I had with the waiter. My friend and I are both Taiwanese-American, and throughout the evening, the waiter (who was clearly not of Asian descent) made sure to tell us "xie xie" ("Thank you" in Mandarin) almost every time he came back to refill our waters or check on us. He even remarked at one point, "I love saying that!" While it didn't ruin the whole experience of eating here, it was kind of off-putting. The sauce was on the salty side for me, but I am usually sensitive to salt so others may like it. This is a fantastic place to enjoy a good meal. The fajitas are cooked over mesquite, the tortillas are made to order and salsa is just hot enough without being too hot. I could eat there 5 days a week. Diana was our waitress and was very attentive. She brought more tea without asking and always seemed to know what we needed before we could ask. I was visiting a friend in Dallas and decided to try some Tex-Mex cuisine while I was out there. I would say the food pricing is on the higher side ($20-30 per entree), but the serving sizes were large, so I wasn't too upset. I tried the brisket tacos and I unfortunately thought the meat was pretty dry. It was okay with the avocado and salsa, but the sides of beans and rice were also pretty lackluster. Definitely wouldn't come back for a meal. Here's what I did like though: the service was incredibly attentive and friendly, plus we constantly had a basket of chips at the table. That's honestly what kept this review from dropping to 2 stars. Their complimentary salsas were solid and the queso was actually incredibly delicious. The drinks here are boozy and they claim to be the inventors of the frozen marg. I did try the Frozen Strawberry Mango and it was sweet, but strong aka dangerous. Fantastic thin tortilla chips - I can eat baskets. So much food! And don't forget your frozen margaritas as it is so fun to drink at the place that invented it. The restaurant is smartly decorated with an upscale vibe. Service is adequate with no complaints. We are on the west side of town but we don't hesitate to make the drive. I arrived at 6:30pm on a Thursday night and the parking lot is packed with a 45min waiting list. I got the last seat at the bar. (Whew!) Fast service from the bar and kitchen (8-10 min for food!). Impressive while totally packed. Very nice and attentive staff. Patrons are multi-generational and there was a great happy buzz in the air. Why advertise? They are packed every night... and now I know why! Strawberry Margarita: Delicious. Perfect thickness and texture, normal strength (you can taste the tequila), and it doesn't melt too fast. I recommend these over a swirl. Red Salsa: Delicious, not sweet or bitter. Just perfect! Nice tight small chop on everything (not puréed), great flavor and balance of every ingredient you expect. (There is also a darker version I did not try.) Tortillas: Super fresh, handmade, and only minutes off the grill when you get them. Awesome! (They last perfect in a ziplock.) Beef Enchiladas: Perfect! Savory dark meat sauce, elegant and obviously old school cooking from home. It's not thick and creamy like some lesser quality places serve - this is like a hearty Texas mini-chili consistency that's exactly what I would expect, and not greasy! The meat is moist (not greasy), nicely seasoned and portioned. Yummy - get some!! (10 out of 10) Sour Cream Chicken Enchiladas: Generous portion of shredded chicken, nice flavor but about 20% on the dry side. The sour cream sauce is very Tex-Mex traditional, soft hints of the sour come through, nice consistency. Overall 6 out of 10. Beef Fajitas: Wow! Really good. Soft, moist, and tender meat, well seasoned and smokey. The handmade tortillas are a perfect compliment. I'm getting these again. We stopped in as a party of 8 on Sunday evening and had to wait a little to be sat. Even tho more than half of our party was there they would not seat us until everyone arrived, which was annoying. Our table didn't have sufficient chairs. We had to wait for those and did not have sufficient silverware. We had to grab from another empty table. The food was fine, our server had somewhat of an attitude and was not bussing the table. We had to start putting plates and beer bottles on the floor to make room. This was a drive for us so we won't be back. Again, the service was disorganized, we had to remind about a sprite for the kids. One of our party members ordered fajita chicken nachos and he forgot to put those in so they received their food dead last while everyone else ate. I included a picture of the empty dishes and bottles that kept being left. It was a cramped table that needed to be bussed consistently but unfortunately the server had lots of time in between visits. Not sure if he was just that busy or if we were forgotten bc of being on the patio in a corner. Food was fine, nothing stood out different from any other Tex/mex place though. When I arrived at the restaurant, they informed me that they did not have a record of a reservation under my name. I had a record of the call on my cell phone. Any time I'm in Dallas, I stop here for fajitas and margaritas! They claim to be the originator of the worlds first frozen margarita. I celebrate this accomplishment with them every time I go because I get the frozen margarita. I have also tried their other versions and all are good! It's a happening place. Expect a wait if you are going during traditional eating hours, but there is lots of space around the bar and the outside patio. They make fresh tortillas onsite!!! Shout out the ladies who crank these delicious tortillas out in large batches. Their corn ones are also good too. I personally have never tried anything but the sizzling platters of fajitas but can vouch for the queso to go with free chips and salsa. I've been coming 2-3 times a week for 20 years. Prices have continued to increase and very recently quality is way down. Fajitas used to melt in your mouth and now chewy/tough. We only came in for a margarita with a friend in from out of town who is a margarita junkie. I had recently seen that this place is supposedly the birthplace of the frozen margarita. (haha --This particular friend got wasted on frozen margaritas at our wedding - and yes, we rented a frozen margarita machine for the reception, and have zero regrets!) The cocktail prices are high, but what the heck - the atmosphere is on point! - a big square "cheer-style" bar, a kitchen with a bunch of voyeur windows to watch the action, and a little handmade tortilla station right by the entrance. I was mesmerized and they gave me a steaming hot flour tortilla sample! The drinks were good - I got the one swirled with frozen sangria. I really want to come back here for dinner sometime. read more
