Went to Mi Cocina last night for a belated birthday for a truly special friend! Alfredo was absolutely amazing, answer all our questions and kept the service smooth and flawless! We started off with the cup of queso ( lil heat : very tasty ) and I celebrated w a glass of Prosecco ( was extremely chill and smooth) My brisket quesadillas were plentiful and fulfilling. It wasn't very busy but I really liked the larger table and the music was just loud enough to be background but not too loud . I didn't actually hear but Alfredo had said welcome back in the beginning of his greet and then I remembered the my last visit was 6 months ago but he remembered my visit ! I didn't even know there was a Mi Concina closer to my house, until I looked up the nearest one when I was in Uptown running errands. I ordered to go. They have valet parking, so that is where I stopped because I had a to-go order and the valet guy said it was ok to park there to pick up my order. I walked and in and the ambiance was very uppity, very nice. It looks small at first glance, but I think they have an upstairs. I could be wrong, but it looked like it. What I ordered was the Problano Chicken Enchiladas and they were delicious. I will be going back for the same dish and maybe some nachos al carbon as well. read more

I have been here twice and loved it each time. I absolutely love the frozen Mambo taxi!! I even enjoyed it during the winter! The rice I preferred was the arrow verde! I'd never had it before and it was great! How could I forget the steak tacos? The tacos de brisket are so good! The restaurant is well lit with some dim areas and various seat options. Nice place to grab dinner with the girls in downtown. We sat outside and it was a nice view of the park and not too loud. It was busy but our waiter was able to stay attentive to us. There was not a very long wait at all from ordering food and drink to receiving them. The food was okay but nothing spectacular just your typical tacos. They were well seasoned and filling. It'd be nice if they had an al a carte taco option because the portions are large. I didn't even finish my food. Pricing was reasonable for the portion. My friend really enjoyed her fajitas and the other said her burrito was just your typical burrito. Overall I'd probably only come back if someone really wants to go. Worst parking in the neighborhood... and that's saying something. They allow huge trucks to occupy multiple parking spaces and there is no notice if the parking lot is full. They need an attendant. Food is ok, nothing special, and service is generally slow. There are better places for sure. read more

I am extremely frustrated with the abysmal service we received at the Mi Cocina Uptown Dallas location on December 23, 2025. Unlike our previous visits, this experience was completely unacceptable. From the start, the hostess and waiter were inattentive and dismissive, and we felt like we were being treated with suspicion and disrespect. When we requested additional items, we were informed of extra charges, which was not the issue. It was the degrading way we were monitored afterward that was infuriating and embarrassing. This experience is far below the standard we expect from Mi Cocina, and it's unacceptable. We demand a courtesy credit or a gift card as a gesture of goodwill to address the embarrassment and poor treatment we endured. Thank you for your attention to this matter. I've been a regular at this McKinney Avenue location for a while, and while the food and drinks are still really good, the service has really slipped over the past six months. Greg is the one server who always does a great job, but overall things feel very disorganized. My visit last night is what pushed me to finally write this. I ordered a drink, waited 15 minutes, and it never arrived. I ended up having to go to the bar myself to get it. First world problem, sure, but when you're at a restaurant you expect basic service to be there. It's frustrating because this is a popular spot in a prime location with locations all over the metroplex. If they don't address the service issues, the experience is going to keep overshadowing the great food and drinks. read more

This is a nice place to get Tex Mex in a fancy location. My husband used to live in Dallas, and he wanted to come to this area to get some Tex Mex. I think he hadn't realized the degree to which the area had gentrified. We ended up eating at Mi Cocina because it was the only Tex Mex option in Uptown (no, Velvet Taco doesn't count as Tex Mex, sorry). We were there for a late lunch on a weekday, so it wasn't crowded, and they were pretty attentive to our party that included two kids (they do have a kids menu). The setting is cool and elegant. They play Latin/Caribbean (mostly Cuban, a little Dominican) music rather than Mexican music. We started with an order of guac and an order of the yellow queso. The guacamole was excellent, and we all loved the freshly fried chips. I also loved the salsa that they automatically bring out. The queso was only okay to me, but my husband loved it. I had the lunch special brisket tacos. They were really good. I wish that they came with beans instead of the avocado salad, but only because I didn't like the dressing on the salad. Otherwise, I liked the green rice, and my daughter liked eating the veggies on my plate. My husband had the fajitas, and he liked them. My son had the kid crunchy beef taco, and he loved it. My daughter ordered a quesadilla, but they brought her an enchilada, and she did not like the enchilada sauce, so she ate more chips and the avocados and tomatoes from my salad. I ate some of her enchilada, and I thought the sauce was too salty. They have an Arnold Palmer on the menu, which is what I ordered. The iced tea was unsweetened, which was good, but the lemonade was clearly not housemade, and given the location, it seems like a disgrace to have an Arnold Palmer on the menu that uses Tropicana. Just saying. My husband asked for a silver tequila on the rocks, and they brought him reposado. It was an excellent tequila, but not what he ordered. I'm generally not a fan of chain restaurants, especially for things like Tex Mex, but apparently those are the only options in Uptown Dallas nowadays. And Mi Cocina isn't bad, it just isn't what I was hoping for on our one unscheduled meal in Dallas. read more
