I hit up Mesero solo on a work trip. Didn't announce myself, didn't make a reservation, just walked in. The vibe grabbed me before I even sat down. Warm, real, not performative. The kind of room that's actually built that way. Fernando behind the bar is an artist. I've been to every major city in this country for work and I've never had a dressed double shot executed like this. Casamigos, chilled just enough to ride that line between cold and almost slushy without falling over it, salt rim that didn't assault you, lime placed with intention. That's not a shot. Full disclosure, I believe Californian Mexican cuisine is far superior to "TexMex." The latter is just not for me but I had a decent enough experience meeting up with friends while staying in Victory Park for work. The positives were definitely the service and the ambiance. I wish I remembered our server's name because she was AMAZING! Super helpful, kind, and hard working. The restraint itself is clean and very modern. We enjoyed sitting outside on the patio, people watching and enjoying the decent weather. The so-so has to do with the food. I had the Number 5: Tejano enchilada, brisket taco, mesero slaw, arroz rojo... I know I know, why get anything with the word "tejano" if I don't like "TexMex," but nothing was calling to me from the menu. I found my selection to not be that flavorful and my portions to be smaller than I would have liked. Came in to get a little drink or two and a small bite. Ordered some queso and drinks. We sat at the bar to enjoy everything. The queso was super thick more than we like but it wasn't so bad. Our bartender saw that we were out of chips and without asking or waiting she replaced them ASAP! You can tell she keeps a clean and organized bar. The place was nice and airy since the doors and windows were open which was really great! The service was nice, and overall I'll come back for a small bite and a drink again. Came here for happy hour for the first time. Made a quick reservation on Open Table. Would highly recommend happy hour, which is weekdays from 2-6 PM. They have $7 house margs (frozen and on the rocks). Although I usually like on the rocks, it was too sweet for me, but the frozen ended up being not as sweet! They also have martinis, half of wines, and $2 off all cocktails. For my entree, I ordered the enchiladas verdes with chicken. It came with rice and beans de la olla. It was super filling, and the green sauce paired with the cream sauce was fantastic!! I also loved the complimentary salsas and chips, which they refilled over the entire meal!! The ambiance is super modern and classic. Lots of booths and tables, and the decor is a nice touch. The bathrooms are SO clean, and loved that they had mouthwash! Haven't been here Ina few years. It was way above average last time we were here. Not so this time. Service was very slow and inattentive. All the food was below any texmex we can get anywhere. I had beef fajitas and they lacked seasoning or something -- just tasteless. We were heading downtown to see an artist I've been following for a few years. His name is Fancy Hagood (seriously, go check him out!). He was performing at the House of Blues, so I did a quick search for nearby spots and found this place just around the corner. Bonus: there's a parking lot right across the street. Pro tip: don't fall for those overpriced House of Blues parking rates! I've been meaning to make a list of the best Happy Hours in town, and this spot has officially earned a place on that list! With $2 off all appetizers, $8 tacos, half-price wine, and a lineup of $7 cocktails (including a fabulous Martini), this is the kind of Happy Hour that I love. My 'tini was served in a glass that was practically overflowing (no complaints!) and had those little icy crystals floating on top, which is chef's kiss and my favorite way to enjoy one. And for $7 downtown Dallas? practically a miracle on ice! should out to our server Mikaela, she was a doll, and really this place was jam- packed with servers, so maybe they get hit with a big 7pm dinner late night crowd, but it wasn't;t crowded on a Friday for HH. I ordered the HH flautas (or "flautinas" as they're called here), and hubbs went for The Chairman, which is a braised pork dish that was fork-tender and generously portioned. We kicked things off with the complimentary trio of salsas, which were all delicious. My only (very minor) quibble? The chips. They were your standard thick, store-bought kind. I met a couple of friends here for drinks and dinner. The atmosphere is so fun! I got the Raspberry Cooler drink which was excellent. My friend also enjoyed her Prickly Pear Paloma. We tried their famous queso with beef added, and it was fantastic! I had the grilled fish tacos, and my friend had the carnitas tacos with added cheese. This is such a perfect place for a date! We have been here twice recently! Once for valentines, and once the week after!!! Valentines was so great, we had to come back! This is a vegan review. The entire visits was delicious from start to finish! The complimentary chips and salsa are excellent. The chips are very hard and crispy, then don't break easily which is what you want in a chip. They give you three options for salsa, none of which is very spicy. There is a regular red, a cheesy, and a guacamole salsa. I am vegan and they do have a few vegan options, but the main one I got both times were the farmers vegan enchiladas, in which they have spinach inside, a green salsa on top and vegan cheese to garnish. They are owey gooey delicious, again not spicy! They do have the standard beans and rice in the side, which taste just like my parents made them when I was younger. The location is in a hot spot in Dallas, and it's nice and clean inside! IT was packed in Valentine's Day just we found two spots at the bar. The Devine time we went was in a Friday, and we were able to get a table instantly. No waiting. I guess the worst part of all of this is the parking, parking is sometimes impossible if you don't know the area, we have a hidden spot that we park at, but if you are new to Dallas it may be hard to find parking, although there are parking garage for a price. The server walked by our table in front of my husband in a very aggressive manner, which made the situation even more uncomfortable. We also didn't have silverware at the table, and overall the service did not feel attentive. I will say there was another staff member who checked on us, and we genuinely appreciated that because it showed some level of care. Can't stress enough how delicious the food here is. For anyone that wants to take Mexican food up a class, this is the spot. The ambiance is very upscale and the set up is always neat and orderly. Service is fantastic. They are always attentive. Great spot for a date and there are plenty of post meal options around. I highly recommend making a reservation before coming here and plan transportation accordingly. It is usually busy here at night. Unfortunately I have to update my review on my beloved Mesero. My bestie and I used to come here at least once a week for the last three years but the entire vibe has changed. All of our favorite bartenders and waiters have left and some of the other regulars have encountered a bit of hostility from a certain female manager that thought they were writing bad reviews about her! They were not, but if it quacks like a duck... it's a duck! I'm disappointed to say that the service is meh and ambience is no longer cheerful so most if not all of the regulars have been forced to explore other options. Ownership should really take a hard look at the changes that were implemented between 2024-2025 to understand what caused the current status. read more

It was recommended to get a reservation but, as a party of 1, their system wouldn't let me. Not to worry because I was there for an early dinner before a Stars game and able to get a seat at the bar with no problems. I started with their complimentary salsa flight and a house margarita and then went with a nacho appetizer for my meal with a trio of hot sauces. The food was delicious and I'd recommend coming for sure based on that. Service and ambiance was a miss for me though while sitting at the bar. They have traditional bar seating and then seats around a "bar" which reminds me more of sitting at a diner like Waffle House. I'll just say the seating was awkward because the workers congregate there to pick up food from the kitchen and watch over their tables. While my server was quick, he never once smiled and it was obvious that he couldn't wait to get me out of there (this wasn't due to trying to free up a seat either as there were plenty). Any Mesero location is a great location in my opinion. The menu is varied and creative. Never had a bad meal. I would suggest exploring the menu and appetizers, perhaps sharing a few with your table. On 6/21/25, we visited the restaurant, a friend and myself to eat dinner and enjoy my birthday. We got to the establishment before 5 pm and 30 to 45 minutes into our dinner a booth table to our left shocked us by the following scene. The table included a total of 4 people. Three females and one male. One of the females turned to me and started verbally attacking with profanity and threatening us by stating they were going to physically assault us . This was unprovoked as neither I nor my guest knew any of the parties involved. I turned to the staff as they were also in awe and called for a manager. I observed the manager approach the party involved but failed to de-escalate the situation. Following this, the manager made his way to our table to ask if we were ok. I advised the manager we did not feel safe. We felt the situation was not taken seriously and the manager lacked the communication skills to manage a tense and potentially violent situation. Several of the staff witnessed the entire incident but only one of the waiters with a calm respectful tone created a sense of safety for us. We thank him for going above and beyond. He apologized for the situation we encountered and continuously checked on us through our stay. This review is only to enlighten management on expectations of a general manager. A recommendation of de-escalation training is strongly suggested to be provided to any supervisor position. read more

The food here is amazing, but the drinks are the true highlight. With creative flavors and cocktails made strong, you can't go wrong with anything on the drink menu. The service is always friendly and efficient, no matter how busy it gets. My friend and I decided to have a quick dinner before we went to the Serenade Tour at the American Airlines Center. This was our first time going so we were excited. We got there around 6 o'clock. It was pretty busy, but there was a steady flow of seating guest. We sat outside on the patio because it was a nice Sunday afternoon. Our waiter he was very professional. He suggested drinks for us and we went with the Brandon one of the best drinks I have had in a long time 10 out of 10. There is a complementary appetizer of 3 salsa and chips. The green salsa is a Verde. I will give that 8.5 out of 10 has a little kick to it. The middle salsa is a roja. I will give that a 9 out of 10. It has just the right amount of kick to it The last salsa is just a plain regular salsa. I'll give that a 6 out of 10 could use some more seasoning. I took the safe route with fish tacos. I will give the tacos a 7 out of 10. I have to say the tacos were a little bland could've used a little bit more seasoning, adding the Verde and Roja salsa helped. My plate also came with a slaw. That was a little bland as well. A little salt helped. My friend went with the beef quesadillas with a queso side of rice and refried beans. She said hers entrée was good. I used to love this place, which makes writing this review all the more disappointing. I've been a loyal customer for years, even back when it was still Mr. Mesero before it gained popularity. Unfortunately, the experience has changed, and not for the better. Service has become frustratingly inattentive--I now have to flag down waiters and bartenders just to get any assistance. They seem more focused on doing their own thing than actually tending to guests. Even the hostess was too preoccupied with her phone to notice much, which probably explains why there was rice stuck to my menu. Gross. Then came the real letdown--my favorite dish, Chili Colorado. The meat was dry, so I politely asked for extra sauce. No big deal, right? Apparently, it was. The kitchen informed me that everything is prepackaged and they couldn't accommodate my request. Really? What happened to the quality and care that once defined this place? To top it off, when I asked to speak with a manager--someone I personally know--the bartenders just laughed. I love this place! The drinks were good and potent. I had Mr Trey with grand marnier which is their version of Gloria's meltdown (their sister restaurant). For dinner I had the Salmon a la plancha which was so flavorful and presented so beautifully. Our server, Jesus, made our experience that much better. He knows customer service. I used to be a regular and this was my favorite place at one time. But after I realized that myself and other regulars were being watched by management and that made us uncomfortable. This place is drama and they used to blame other employees but the management is the common denominator even after all the employees left. Im not the only regular that doesn't go anymore. We made reservations to eat here before the Stars playoff game. Glad we made reservations because it was crazy packed with fans. It's super loud in here so don't plan on having deep conversations. They do have table outside that I wouldn't have minded sitting at. They don't mess around with their drinks. Had two Sangria margaritas that were very good but strong at the same time. Their chips and sauces come out and they kept them filled up the whole time. We loved their chips and seemed scratch made. I had the Ahi Tuna tacos and was pretty impressed. Although we've heard good reviews from others, I was not totally impressed with this place. The starters were OK and lacked flavor.
