YO WHAT IS THIS SORCERY??? Best Mexican food I've ever had in the city my goodnessssssss. I have been craving this place everyday since we went and I truly can't stop thinking about it. You order at the front, and then take your seat, and you are promptly greeted by a server with water, and we also got a complementary potato taco app!!! This was also one of those places where I ended up eating my food too fast to take a proper photos of my tacos but my favorite one was the carne asada and del trompo! The guacamole is really the main star for me, holy smokes! Best guacamole I've ever had. Overall the inside is very spacious and relaxing and doesn't feel overstimulating like a lot of Mexican places can be for me. The service was insanely fast too- we were only here for 30 minutes total and we joked that it took us longer to drive there and back than it did to eat! We will be back! read more

So tonight with the rain we decided to stay in the neighborhood and to try Mestiza and are we so glad we did! The restaurant is super clean, comfortable, colorful. The staff is super friendly and very informative and you tell they are happy to be there as well looking forward to serving you. They serve strictly tacos, again let me say it, tacos only....so no sides of rice or sides of. beans or even chips and salsa here.... Just tacos period. The menu on their website doesn't truly show how many different tacos and variations they serve, but don't worry, their staff are more than happy to help you out with your selections. No chips you say?!?!? No salsa!?!?!? No way!!!!! Calm down and just hear me out. Their different tacos, and trust me, again they offer A LOT of tacos options which took us back to our first trip to Mexico at our first bite! If you look at my pictures they start you off with a complimentary fried potato based taco with was outstanding in texture and flavor! When our tacos came out the meat in each was flavorful and moist! One of my taco's came with rice and sliced boiled egg which I had seen on previous trips to Mexico, but had never tried. When I bit into that taco I couldn't believe how a slice of boiled egg would add so much depth of flavor to a simple taco! My other tacos were all flavorful and filling as well, from the al pastor to the fried rolled up one with grated cheese and crema! They offer 5 sauces, left to right on the picture ranging from mild to spicy, along with Chopped cilantro & onion, and fresh lime slices. Find one you like better than the others then they gladly will bring you out more! Cantaritos! Their drinks are all made with fresh squeezed juice and you can tell the quality it adds to your drinks! Our Margarita had a dried slice of lime which added a fantastic deeper flavor to the drink! Mestiza is not only a great place to take that "Special Someone" in your life to teaming up with your best friends for great food, great drinks and great times! read more

St. Louis is filled with great taquerias and Mestiza belongs on the list. Ate there recently, had a few tacos, along with the guacamole. They also brought a free taco de papa (not fried) along with their various salsas as samplers. Everything was delish. This is without question my favorite restaurant in STL. Angel is so kind and so welcoming to everyone who steps in the door! The food quality is consistent, and it's undoubtedly one of the best authentic Mexican spots in the city. They also have really great vegetarian alternatives -- the potato flauta and hibiscus tacos are INSANE. If you like spice, ask for the spicy habanero salsa. It's amazing. I found out about Mestiza from a TikTok made by camillaacrosstheborder. Who's a Mexican born and raised woman who lives in Saint Louis. As someone who's from Saint Louis, but grew up in LA, I trust someone from Mexico who says the food is great. In fact she said she had been gate keeping them.... Well the secret is out. I went in the late afternoon on a Sunday. We ordered the chicharrones with guacamole and tostada (a simple fried and spiced tortilla), esquites, black bean frijoles, potato flautas with creama and queso fresco, a trompopo taco, a hibiscus al pastor taco, a carnitas taco, and two cocktails. The Apasionata and the Jamaizcal. The service was fantastic. We were brought out small fresh potato tacos with a tray of salsas to start (just as an amuse bouche). Delightful. The guacamole and chicharrones was delicious. Fresh and tasty. I enjoyed everything I ate so much. The owner came by to check on us. He was so kind and friendly. I've been looking for a place to get incredible Mexican food, that's authentic and decently priced. I'm so so glad I found Mestiza!!!!! read more

This is different from typical Mexican restaurants in the U.S. It is authentic Mexican street food. Be open to the options, and you will have a great meal. Came in early on a Friday and the food was fantastic. The flight of salsas was fun to try! I had three of their tacos: carne asada, tres Marias, and birra fundida. Would absolutely order all three again - though I'd like to try their other tacos as well. The service was excellent. I explained this was my first time in and I got the full rundown of the menu which was great. I don't normally get margaritas - but I was glad I did tonight. It was delicious! The auga de la casa was also the perfect accompaniment to the spicy salsa! The mint is so refreshing. Because it was right at 5 when I came in it was still quiet but by the time I finished my food, the place was filling up. Would definitely come again. read more

We have been driving past this place for months thinking that it was the old terrible Mexican place. We finally went in to inquire about it because we thought the sign was different and wondered if they were under new ownership. The new owners have been in there for 11 months and we had no idea! This place is incredible. Everything we had was delicious and authentic. The salsas were incredible, the meat was seasoned and cooked perfectly, and the margaritas were top notch. My mom has diabetes and can't drink many margaritas due to the amount of sugar in them. The owner assured us that they don't serve "kool-aide" margaritas and everything is hand squeezed. He didn't lie because her bloodsugar was 111 after the whole meal. read more

They have a vast selection of authentic salsa and meat options. We tried Carne Asada, Carnitas, Del Trompo, Tres Marias, Alambre, and Birria Fundidas...Had to order a second round of the Alambre. The guacamole and chicharrones were superb. Margaritas were top notch. I'm not a sweets person, but the churros and the homemade chocolate cake were so comforting and delicious.
