We had our summer afternoon party catered by Mestizo Paella. The food, service and everything was exceptional. Their appetizers were also delicious and unique. The cooking demonstration of Paella making was fun. We have a backyard party of over 60 people and plenty of food left over. I highly recommend Angee and Christian to cater your event.

We recently had Mestizo Paella over in Alamo, CA for a backyard Holiday Paella Party. We worked with Angee on the quote & met her husband Christain at the event. Together, they cooked, served, & cleaned up after. Our friends enjoyed the food. We had their Signature Paella, Seafood Paella, Chicken Empanada, Patatas with their awesome sauce. For dessert, we had their Churros. I liked how they responded quickly via text on the date availability, and then we continued on email till the day of the event. This is a husband and wife team with a story behind the food. Highly Recommend!

On my final Pastel order, I added an item from here on the recommendation of a friend who tried their vegetarian version of their signature dish. I decided to try their signature paella (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=pgAeevKcCIFraMycZkpX8Q&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q), which comes with pork, chicken, Spanish chorizo, and shrimp. Contrary to their instructions (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=5raJgmn6o-IVrTrEbNqKHA&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q) as I do not like using a microwave, I placed it in a baking pan, added a few drops of water, and covered it with foil. I baked it for 20 minutes at 350F and here's how it turned out (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=QlqQ9cXvR2pCNWhSmiHBUg&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q). I squirted the lemon juice and dipped the various proteins into the provided aioli and had this for dinner. It was delicious flavor wise and definitely generous with the pork, chicken, Spanish chorizo, and shrimp (five or six tail-on deveined ones). I could only finish half of it since I paired it with a bowl of soup. There were some bits of rice that were crunchy, one of my favorite parts of having paella at a restaurant, scraping the crispy rice from the pan. Kudos to Mestizo for making a quality product that's easy to reheat at home. I really enjoyed this and would definitely order this again.

Hands down, BEST paella in town. I first discovered them in November 2020 + have been ordering from them since. Their paellas are delicious. I have tried the meat lovers, seafood, negra, Valencia con pollo and signature paellas. Personally, the signature is my favorite. Their paellas are so flavorful, have a generous amount of protein, and the perfect rice crust. Their pollo al ajillo and tortilla de patatas appetizers are also yummy. I can't wait to try the other items on their menu. Most recently, we asked Angee + Christian to cater our twin's birthday. The 80cm paella pan was definitely the highlight of our food spread. Everyone raves about how good it was. Angee was easy to communicate with, friendly, professional and on time. I look forward to working with them again. Thank you for making our boys' birthday memorable.

Where do I start?! First off, Angie and Christian were beyond amazing to work with. Friendly, accommodating, flexible, and professional! They bring an exceptional talent and passion to their cooking and it absolutely shows in every dish they make. My wife and I lost count of how many guests at our wedding complimented their delicious Paella! We loved that they were local and that the cooking was authentic and personal. As an added plus, Angie was a wedding planner so she had a great ability to integrate her catering service into our wedding in a seamless manner. Thanks so much Angie and Christian for catering our wedding! You both made it so special!! Highly recommend.

It is not even close to the taste of a paella and it is expensive, price-quality ratio = 0. Disappointed

I had the salmon, fried prawns, mac and cheese, and cabbage. Everything we tried was flavorful, fresh, and cooked with care. The standout items were the blackened shrimp and the crab. The butter sauce covering the crab was absolutely delicious and packed with flavor. The salmon was cooked exactly the way salmon should be--moist, flaky, and tender. Too many restaurants overcook salmon and dry it out in the center, but Chef Smelly's got it right. The fried prawns paired perfectly with their sweet chili sauce, which was a nice change from the usual tartar sauce. The sides held their own. The mac and cheese was creamy with great texture, and while I won't call it the best I've ever had, it was very good. The cabbage was excellent, but the collard greens were the real surprise. They reminded me of my mother's homemade greens, and that's not a compliment I give lightly. If you're from the South, you know how hard it is to find greens that taste like they came from someone's family kitchen. The service was attentive, friendly, and hospitable throughout the meal. More importantly, the food was consistently good from start to finish. Bottom line: Chef Smelly's is worth the visit. Great flavor, quality ingredients, and food that feels like it was made with pride. We'll definitely be back and would gladly recommend it to others.

It was a little hard to find because the bldg had a sign that says "AU" and not the actual name of the restaurant. We were greeted as soon as we got to the front and were seated right away. The ambiance was nice. The place was clean. We opted to get the hot honey chili prawns for an appetizer and it was pretty good. Hubby got his fried catfish w/ collard greens and yams. I got the fried red snapper w/ the mac n cheese and yams for our main entree. The food came pretty fast and hot. Pretty big servings also which made it ok since they priced each at $31. The fish tasted great, the only problem was they switched our fish. The yams were good and collards were ok. Mac n cheese we didn't really care for. Excellent service and I would say the food was ok. **I ordered the red snapper w/ mac n cheese n yams and my husband ordered catfish w/ collards n yams. I ended up w/ the catfish and he was given the snapper. We were halfway w/ our meal when he said I think u have my catfish. Not saying anything bad about the restaurant, it's just our fish was not with the correct sides and we had it mixed up. ** Both fish were cooked to perfection and tasted great. Just the sides were just ok.

I was so busy during the wedding that I actually didn't get a chance to try the food myself, but afterward I received so many compliments from our guests about how good the tapas were. That alone told me we made the right choice. The delivery was also right on time, and everything arrived still super hot and ready to serve, which I really appreciated. Everything went smoothly, the food was a hit with our guests, and I would definitely recommend Havana Catering for an event.

I had heard of them before because a friend used them for their wedding, and since I plan events for a living, I've worked with a lot of caterers. For my own event though, price mattered a lot, but I still wanted really good food. After reaching out to a bunch of places, I went with Havana because I had tried their food before and their pricing was very reasonable. We ordered full trays of adobo chicken, lechon roasted pork, crispy tofu, paella, sofrito rice, black beans, corn, poblano mac and cheese, and plantains. I did bring in one dish from another restaurant, Jamaican oxtail, just because I know my guests are big foodies. The biggest hits from Havana were definitely the poblano mac and cheese, lechon, and the paella. Honestly, the mac and cheese was the standout. Everyone kept going back for it and I wish I had ordered an extra tray. What really stood out to me though was the delivery experience. The driver called me ahead of time, brought everything in, and set it all up. He opened the trays with gloves, added sauces, arranged everything nicely, and even put out utensils and labels. I've had plenty of catering deliveries before and this was easily one of the best. He was just genuinely kind and went above and beyond, and it made a big difference. Overall, everything went smoothly, the food was great, and I would definitely order from them again.

Not only that, the cajun fries tgat come with it are absolute PERFECTION!!! ‍ I think I paid about $18 for the sandwich and fries after tax. Mama T's is a tiny, hole-in-the-wall spot with just enough room to step inside, place your order, grab a drink, and step back outside to wait for your food at the curb. She sells a variety of things, including turkey burgers, wings, and more, but the fish sandwich is actually what brought me there. Mama T was so sweet, and she was in the kitchen working alongside her son, Terrence, who I believe does most of the cooking. The customer service was absolutely top-tier, and I'll definitely be back! One thing I noticed was how many people walked up and were disappointed to find out that the fish sandwiches had already sold out. I think she needs to create a sign to post when the sandwiches are sold out so that people don't waste their time in line only to find out once they get to the register. Nonetheless we got lucky as we were among the last few people to get one! With that, if I had to give you one tip: GO EARLY! I'd recommend getting there at least an hour or so before closing because those fish sandwiches definitely sell out. Overall, great food, great service, and definitely worth the visit!
