May decide to switch for healthier choices. ....Update: Tonight had sliced turkey in mushroom gravy with cauliflower mash, and Parmesan coated chicken breast with steamed cauliflower and broccoli. Absolute worst experience with is company. Attempted to skip and/or cancel delivery due to traveling. Only placed one order of (6) meals to try out quality, They still delivered and charged me when paused delivery for (8) meals that they chose on their own. 3 of 8 meals where damaged (container compromised). I attempted multiple times to discuss with customer service and all I ever got was the typical, "you still need to pay". I tried this service above all of the others I looked at because their signup page indicated that there was no "subscription". So, we tried about 6 meals (just under $70), just to see what it was like. The food is OK - not great - but was substantially different from the supplied pictures. Rather than the nicely browned chicken breast and pasta meal, for example, we recieved a bland chicken breast with no browning whatsoever. Quite bland. Not terrible, but certainly not what we expected. We took our time eating our 3 meals each, and had not decided to purchase again. I saw some emails about ordering our meals, but I ignored them because there was no subscription. To my surprise, I see a charge on my credit card for $133 and change, for meals that we did not order. A bit of a surprise, no doubt, for a service that advertised "no subscription". Now, I'm sure I didn't read something that I should have, but I really feel the no subscription claim was BS, and sending us 2X our original order without my consent is unethical - at least. I cancelled my "subscription" immediately. As a bonus, I tried to call them to let them know why I was canceling. Another surprise - there is no customer service phone number to call. I took them up on the trial offer. I received the meals but realized that I didn't think they were very tasty. So I called on April 29, 2026 to cancel the subscription. I emailed them first and the I spoke to Kristy D. on the phone and said I wanted to cancel the subscription. She said why do you want to cancel and I said because I didn't like their food so she said no problem. Then I kept getting emails regarding the menu options for the next week but since I thought I canceled, I didn't respond. So on May 27, I get this huge box from them with a bunch of meals that I didn't order. So I emailed them and I hit a canned response saying it was too late to cancel this order. So I said I canceled in April and just kept getting a canned response. So I called and I got 'Sorry there is no one to take your call". So I emailed them and asked if I was charged for this box and got crickets. So I looked at my credit card and they indeed charged me $125. So when I looked at the emails from when I canceled, Kristy only canceled the shipment for May but not the subscription. And she's like a manager. They have the worse food and customer service. So I hit up customer service through email and was told to contact the carrier and set up a profile (I already had one). But no, the carrier is YOUR vendor. I pay you for a service, that service should be fulfilled. And not one mention of how they will make it right for the ruined food. Now its too late to cancel the second week? First off, the food is pretty good, nothing hugely special -factor was just as good. The portions are much smaller and it costs much more. Secondly, their customer service leaves a lot to be desired. We were going away for a week and I skipped the week's meals. They ended up being delivered anyway, and sat on my front porch... They said, after looking at my account that I had not skipped, which I definitely had done. They ended up sending meals (that I would not have picked) and they just sat in the box on my porch because we weren't there. They charged me 150 something dollars for the privilege of wasting meals. As a single eater in my household, this is the best option to balance my intake needs (GF), budget, and convenience. The only thing that I don't like, but I don't know how to fix or provide ideas for, is the unsustainable packaging. Yes, it says it's recyclable, but not in my area--according to my local ordnance. (Not MM's issue, but doesn't change my moral/ethical dilemma.) So, I ordered 1 week's worth of food; lunch & dinner. The order consisted of 10 meals. I ordered. I paid & I waited. Not only did it take almost 3 weeks for my food to arrive, one of the meals had been smashed & I wasn't able to eat it. I sent an email asking about a replacement or maybe a single meal refund & got nothing. No response...nothing. After eating 2 of the meals, (steak & potatoes-spaghetti w/ meatballs), I realized the food doesn't taste good. The portions were nothing like the images they use online & much less appealing in real time. So, I cut my losses. I decided I would eat the food I ordered & be done. Well, metabolic meals had more surprises. After receiving my food late & damaged, the very next day I get $166.16 taken out of my account thanks to metabolic meals. I immediately call "customer service" & they tell me that since I didn't choose any meals from the following weeks menu, that they automatically choose for me. So, now I have $166.16 invested in food I didn't order & I have no idea what food I'm going to receive. (This amount was almost $50 more than the 1st order). I made a $66 order to try Metabolic meal company out. When I made the order, the delivery date was for Jan 19 (Monday), it didn't arrive until Wednesday late afternoon while I was at work. The next day, I have a $162 charge show up on my debit card from them. Unbeknownst to me, I unwittingly signed up for a wkly subscription and the deadline to order was 9am on Wednesday morning. This is before my first shipment arrived which means I have not even tasted the food yet and their email telling me I need to order before the deadline was in a spam folder so I didn't even realize any of this until I saw the unauthorized charge on my debit card. Of course, I immediately called (Thursday 130pm) and no one manning the phones. My only recourse was to email them. I have gotten NOWHERE with these people. They keep sending me canned text regarding membership and that their system will pick something similar for you if you don't order. I DONT THINK a $66 order is similar to a $162 order. I find it shady, sketchy and downright unethical how they have handled this situation. I'm disputing the charge with my bank. I've given them a suggestion to give new clients a week grace period so we can taste the food before ordering more and for the set up process to have a check box to utilize to hold off on second order until it's been tasted. The meals were okay, some kind of small portions so left me hungry. Appreciate the lower salt, but otherwise the spicing is very mild and not very interesting. Not gourmet, as advertised. I did enjoy the meatballs. My wife also appreciated the diabetic low carb meals. Mainly, got burned by the fact that we missed one week's order deadline. The site does say if you miss the deadline they will send you meals they choose. I got distracted by holiday prep and missed a deadline by one day. They made out an order for *eight meals*, including some that were extra protein so more costly. When I called was told that the order had "already been processed" so could not be cancelled. She did give us credit for the two extra meals. What they DON'T tell you until you cancel is that you can go on-demand, and that if you forget or don't choose to place an order they just skip that week and don't charge. VERY poor business model, folks! You could be transparent and give us a choice up front to choose a "must respond each week" or be penalized, or an order on-demand as you offered when I cancelled.
