Great beer. Great service. Great atmosphere. This small brewery is in Lapel, which makes it a little more off the beaten path compared to the typical Fishers brewery. Not many people in and out, so it feels more quaint which is nice! There were many beers to choose from, so there is something for everyone. My favorite was their cream ale, NSP Charmer. Their flights are even made of reclaimed wood from their building. So cool! When you go outside there are yard games (giant Jenga and cornhole) and they have board and dice games inside to borrow. They do offer food off a limited menu however they do allow you to bring your own food. They have a great selection of beers ranging from their staple beers to seasonal beers. We enjoyed a flight of beers each to go along with our dinner. They have a huge selection of vinyl records that make up all the great music they play. The best was the coconut porter called Dark Matter. The decor in the pub was very cool. Red brick, rustic yet elegant woodwork and art. They also sell t shirts and other items. Little did we know that we showed up right as their annual 'Way Out' beer fest was ending. (Bummer! We'll be attending next year, for sure.) Pax Verum Brewery is a nice relaxing Brewery in Lapel IN that not many people know about. My friends and I came here for their three year anniversary party and it was very nice. This was my first time here and I was impressed with the beer and the outside patio. They had a cloudy judgment IPA that tasted amazing and the three year anniversary bourbon aged beer was incredible!! There was another hazy IPA I tried that was excellent as well, but I cannot remember the name of it. All the hazy IPA's are excellent, and they have a food truck called Porkapolis that offers decent BBQ if you are looking for food. The outside patio is immaculate and a wonderful place to relax and hang out with friends drinking beer. The interior is beautiful with great artwork and a very nice projector for a T.V. screen that they bring out for special events. The staff is accommodating and gives good customer service. This Brewery is a great find and would come back here to hang out in a heartbeat. It is a hole in a wall Brewery that is excellent and puts out a great quality product. A former dime store now houses this Lapel brewery. Fun fact; the flight holders are original floor joists and the brewing equipment all sits below floor level where these once were. Many and varied beers on the list. The coconut chocolate stout was a fave but the red ale was my preference. Fun fact two: they have a great turntable playing Creedence Clearwater Revival the day we visited. Not sure if you can bring your own albums, but they had a collection on hand. Was told only 21 and over can visit but wonder if the place would have been more crowded if they addressed the legalities by putting up a railing to "separate " the bar and thus allow beer drinkers with families. Pax Verum is a hidden gem! They have 13 of their hop forward beers on tap and an Ash & Elm cider. We tried six of their beers and they were all really good and their red ale is absolutely amazing. They also offer wine and have some mixed drinks, which I love! They have a small food menu: beef brisket, ham sandwich and several snacks. We didn't try any of the the food; however the soft pretzel and cheese looked fantastic. Located in a century old building, the interior of the brewery has an great rustic, industrial interior. They have a great outdoor seating area/patio. I love the story of the brewery too: Two brother that once brewed in a pole barn got some investors involved. Guess what I found after a day of hiking in Madison County? A great new brewery that has lots of tasty beers and a very cool setting. Pax (Peace) Verum (Truth) Brewing opened around the end of April 2018 and has an unexpectedly cool new building on Main Street in Lapel. Just five minutes from the interstate, it was easy to find. The interior has lots of exposed brick and some industrial seating along the bar and high tables. They also have conventional seating at four top tables and a zone to relax on comfy chairs. The sound system is great and features vinyl and a reel to reel for sound that is crisp and clear. Though I caught them between meals, food is served all hours that they are open. They have a variety of munchies as well as sandwiches that run $7.50. I decided to go with a flight of beer. They generally offer five 5-oz options but will work with customers who want more or less (and you can sample smaller amounts if you are curious.) Prices on the flights vary depending upon the selections. If that's important, just ask. I grabbed a diverse group and enjoyed each of them! I started with the "Single Speed" session IPA (5.0% 34IBU) which was loaded with hoppy flavor, but not too bitter. I moved to the "LaBlonde James" American wheat (4.3% 24) and the "Indiana Cascade" pale ale (5.9% 35). Both had a lot of flavor and were smooth. I moved to the "Darkish Matter" Chocolate Stout (6.5% 35) that was downright delicious! Rich and yummy, I almost forgot it was beer! And I finished with the hard to describe "Rxtacy" Red Ale. It has a different taste that some thought it had hints of coffee. I thought it had hints cola flavor without as many bubbles. Whatever that flavor was, I enjoyed it. Future plans are in development for a beer garden on the north side of the building. The owner has a landscaping business and will be putting his guys to work on making a restricted access patio/garden area that you will be able to get to from within the brewery. I didn't notice any private lot, but street parking is free and seemed to be plentiful in the area. The perfect place to set back and enjoy some craft beer. Super cool, super hip and tons of character at this place. Made a stop here on a Sunday at opening time. Bartender said Sundays are hit or miss. At that time it was only my wife and I in the place. I took the opportunity to take a look around and not feel like a tourist. The inside is great. Nice seating around the wall and then a long high bar down the middle to stand or hit at. On the way to the restrooms you get a nice view of all the brewing activity. In addition to the inside they save a super neat outside area. It was a nice day so we took a walk outside to check the place out. They have several picnic tables and a setting area under shelter. We noticed 2 really cool fire pits that ran on gas(they were not on at the time). They also have a food truck but it was not open that day. There was a few nice options for sale at the bar. I noticed a pretzel, dipping cheese, "sandwich", snack tray, chips & salsa plus a few other items. Nothing fancy just something to hold you over. Last but not least is the BEER. They definitely have something that every craft beer drinker can enjoy. The Pulpit was my favorite of the day. I grabbed a 4 pack to go. They had a porter, red, blonde, pale ale, and a few IPAs. I had a flight of 5 and all tasted great and were easy drinkers. This is a brewery I have ANXIOUSLY awaited to visit. Super disappointed in it and I will never ever utter the name of Pax Verum again as a beer I like. I drove quite the trip to come experience one of the cultivators of some of my fave beer in Indiana. Got there-- I was told I couldn't even sit outside in the street on a bench because there was a private event. Closed. No notice of that on Google or anywhere. I called and asked if I could just get carry out beer and sit on a public bench outside-- told no. I watched as a large group of guys with white vests and blue jeans carried in coolers of BUD LIGHT to this brewery to celebrate-- WHATEVER they were celebrating. I couldn't care less. Who brings trash beer like Bud Light to a craft brewery and what brewery refuses the purchase of their own artisan beers to accommodate a Bud-Lite-athon?! The guys that were there were rude. I tried to sit outside and eat a pizza with my wife and daughter from Pizza King (just cause we made the long trip) and the drunk "Bud-dudes" kept cursing, dropping f-bombs, so we left. I've always spread great words about this brewery and their art to many people-- I'll never be back and I refuse to drink your beer after this unbelievably dismissive experience. #CloudedJudgement on your part and #B@&chBeCool about closing your doors to cater specifically to people that aren't even buying your product. No Nectar of the Gods here. Piss of the Devil is more like it. Next time, have these losers go party in a cornfield out the back of their pickups like they were meant to. Couldn't be more disappointed that you closed your doors the one time I came and then even let people bring their own beer-- you weren't even insisting they drink yours?! Why have a brewery? Have an event hall at that point. All these reviews about "great customer service" probably only apply to Lapel residents. Can't express more how much of a wasted trip I made to this poorly run "pick-up truck", "Hey there Bobby" place that should be a brewery, but turned into a backyard for hotdogs and yee-haws! Yuck. Pax is one of our favorite places! The beer is reliably great. I love to add the grapefruit or mango purée into my favorite IPA. The atmosphere is just the best. The inside is a relaxed area where we love to meet up and chat.. and the outside is amazing. They have done a lot of work in landscaping and the set up is awesome. They have bands in the summer, and there is usually corn hole and games to play. My favorite part is that the outside area is dog friendly.
