They were good, too, and the wonderful ambulance people took me straight to my room. My experience at big Baptist was amazing apart from the fact that I felt like crap. My nurse, Pri, and her student nurse, Taylor, went above and beyond what they were required to do. Dr. Kuperman was the best doctor I think I have ever seen in the hospital. Jeremiah and Denic were good nurses, too. The food was good. The service in all areas was good. I truly believe some major changes have been made at Baptist. I was impressed, and I really wanted other folks to know also.

I recently spent some time at Baptist Hospital Memphis, arriving on a Monday night, and I have…read moremixed feelings about my experience. **Medical Staff:** One of my main concerns was the lack of cohesion among the doctors. It seemed like they didn't communicate well with each other, leading to rounds at all hours without much consideration for patient comfort. This inconsistency was frustrating and affected the overall experience. **Nursing Staff:** On a brighter note, the nursing staff was outstanding. I had several nurses who truly stood out, including Pam, Monica, Sam, Jada, and Michelle. Their dedication was evident, and they made a significant difference in my care. Even the trainee, Autumn, impressed me with her professionalism and attentiveness. While there were a couple of nurses who didn't meet my expectations, the majority were exceptional and really made my stay more bearable. **Housekeeping:** Housekeeping services were also commendable, particularly when Michelle was on duty. Her work ethic and attention to detail were evident, and I believe she deserves recognition, possibly even a promotion, to help train others in the department. **Dining Services:** Dining services, however, left much to be desired. Although the manager, Camille, made efforts to address issues, it felt like some staff viewed their roles merely as jobs rather than a calling. That said, one staff member, Nisha, stood out for her commitment to customer service. She went above and beyond to meet my requests with a genuine smile. **Patient Care Assistants:** I must also highlight the amazing PCAs, Kierra and Jasmine. Their passion for their work was palpable, and their interactions with patients were warm and caring. In summary, Baptist Hospital Memphis has a lot of potential, especially with its dedicated nursing and housekeeping staff. However, improvements in doctor collaboration and dining services could enhance the overall patient experience. If the hospital focuses on these areas, it could significantly elevate the quality of care provided.

However, I decided I wanted to be surrounded by professionals with expertise in both baby and mom care, and I'm so glad I chose Baptist. Arrival & First Impressions: When I arrived, I wasn't sure if I was in active labor or not, but I quickly learned I was. After being checked, I was immediately moved into a labor and delivery room. My first nurse, Paige, was incredibly encouraging. She reassured me that I could deliver without an epidural, especially since I was already 5cm dilated and not in much pain. Nurse Transition: Paige let me know her shift was ending and introduced me to the nurses who would take over. By this point, I was 8cm dilated, and the new team--Lisa (Charge Nurse), Sierra (RN), Lindsey (Unit Manager), and Dr. Owens--made me feel confident and supported. I didn't experience pain until they had to break my water at 9cm. Delivery: Dr. Owens and her team delivered my baby. I labored for 6 hours, and after 3 pushes, my baby was born. They were very clear with instructions, guiding me through the process by counting and telling me when to push. My husband was able to cut the umbilical cord, and they immediately placed my baby on me for skin-to-skin. I was also able to opt out of having my baby bathed right away, which meant a lot to me. Post-Delivery Care: After birth, I was transferred to a new room and introduced to my new nurses and lactation specialist. Kacee, the lactation consultant, was fantastic in helping me get the baby to latch, and Amy, the nurse, assisted me when Kacee wasn't available. I also want to give a shoutout to the other nurses during shift changes--Dakeila, Lanitra (who provided amazing resources and support, especially after my baby had to go to the NICU), and Patient Care Assistants Denita and Hieu. NICU Care: My baby had some low oxygen levels after feeding, so the nurses transferred her to the NICU. Heidi, the nurse, was wonderful and made my husband and I feel at ease during a stressful time. Her empathy and positive energy helped us through a scary situation. Follow-up: We were discharged after three days, and the doctors called us after two days at home to check in and make sure we had everything we needed for our baby, while also ensuring I was recovering well. Overall, my experience at Baptist was incredibly positive. While I know every nurse and situation is different, each of the nurses I interacted with made me feel comfortable and never like a burden, even when I had many questions. I am truly grateful for the care we received, and I hope that all families receive the same level of care that I did. It took away all of my fears and anxieties about delivering in a hospital. Thank you, Baptist!

Recently, a family member was admitted, so now I'm part of the journey that most never even want to imagine could happen to them. In the midst of the grief and anxiety, I've learned many things, most of which will go unreported in this review. For yelp purposes, I'll note: 1.) I never have met so many compassionate and competent people in one day, and I visit medical-care settings as a regular part of my work. The chief example is the surgeon who spent more than one hour with my family in a post-surgery consult. Who does that? Most procedures for family, I'm lucky if I get a phone call that lasts up to sixty seconds. The kindness extends all the way to cafeteria workers and valet-parking attendants. 2.) It's really true that the family does not receive a bill. Sure, the hospital will pursue every insurance reimbursement possibility. But, in the end, the family will owe $0. If we could make this happen for every life-changing medical crisis in our nation, I can't help but believe there would be so much less grief, and so much more energy released for healing and productivity. 3.) As I've shared our story, I've found many people in communities near and far support St. Jude with regular donations or special fundraisers. From the grandfather of current patient, please know how impressed I am by the breadth and depth of support. Those of you who support SJCRH are doing a great service to children from near and far. Thank you!

I came out feeling physically awesome!!!!Thanks guys! Went in feeling horrible & worse than explainable. They were very nice for the most part, of course there were a few "control freaks" in there. There was just one doctor out of all the wonderful doctors, he made me uncomfortable, he come in and tried to be intimidating, but only If my husband wasn't in the room, he was odd, but I hardly even had to see him, he didn't have any specific thing (that I know of) he was a doctor of, other than of the hospital. He was on an "ego trip," (too young for the job maybe) but the rest of them outshined him exceptionally! (there was one guy in the emergency that was really bad about putting the vein thing in. He collapsed my vein big time & said it wasn't a big deal & I didn't appreciate that bc it took a month to heal-so it WAS kind of a big deal lol) But I wouldn't go anywhere else, & I couldn't recommend anywhere else, especially NOT Senatobia. I must add, that the nephrologist they have is absolutely awesome, very informative Dr Chak, & Dr. Wolfe, their heart dr also, they are absolutely bad asses!!!!
