My Mini Cooper had the pressure tire warning pop up yesterday and all the gas stations I went to didn't have any attendants to help me out. Boy howdy did I get myself into a real Schlitz Pickle today. But Eddy helped me right out. I was driving up the hill on Hyde, just above Broadway, when my Honda sputtered to a stop. Wouldn't you know it that like a bonefied ignoramus I had run out of gas. I was able to throw it into neutral and roll the car into a driveway so that I was off the cable car tracks. But still not exactly a solid resting spot. I sprinted the three blocks to Eddy's and asked if he had a gas can and any gas. He met me half way: yes on the gas can, but it was empty. Like a saint descended from heaven, Eddy lent me the gas can. Even though I was dressed in my Friday best (hawaiian shirt, turqoise party pants, flip-flops), I booked it the half mile to the Van Ness Chevron without stopping to rest, threw in $4.50 of gas, and huffed it back to the car. I smell a little like gasoline now, but all-in-all it ended up only being a 20 minute setback. And most importantly, I met a new neighbor and friend!
