Boy howdy did I get myself into a real Schlitz Pickle today. But Eddy helped me right out. I was driving up the hill on Hyde, just above Broadway, when my Honda sputtered to a stop. Wouldn't you know it that like a bonefied ignoramus I had run out of gas. I was able to throw it into neutral and roll the car into a driveway so that I was off the cable car tracks. But still not exactly a solid resting spot. I sprinted the three blocks to Eddy's and asked if he had a gas can and any gas. He met me half way: yes on the gas can, but it was empty. Like a saint descended from heaven, Eddy lent me the gas can. Even though I was dressed in my Friday best (hawaiian shirt, turqoise party pants, flip-flops), I booked it the half mile to the Van Ness Chevron without stopping to rest, threw in $4.50 of gas, and huffed it back to the car. I smell a little like gasoline now, but all-in-all it ended up only being a 20 minute setback. And most importantly, I met a new neighbor and friend! I have had Eddy help me out mechanically with both my Harley and my Jeep. Both times he was able to diagnose what I really needed for an immediate fix as well as give me honest advice on other things I may consider fixing while he had it, but were safe to wait a little longer on if my current budget wasn't ready. An "honest mechanic" seems like an oxymoron, but that is exactly what Eddy is. All of his prices were very fair and you can tell he has a passion for problem solving and a love for getting vehicles running and looking exactly as they should.
