Tucked into a strip mall (rubbing elbows with the likes of a Foodtown, Dunkin and Taco Bell, among others) - the humble and tiny Metro Bagels has been going strong for years now. You walk inside and it's got enough 'stuff' to fill a Costco but it's not much bigger than your living room. Cases of soft drinks about to topple over in that corner, lighters and Alka-Seltzer in another corner... you get the idea. (If you have too much time to look around you'll eventually notice those grills tops probably haven't had a proper deep cleaning since Beyoncé competed on Star Search in the early 90's.) As for the bagels? A good dozen flavors/options. They're a wee bit smaller and pricier than the local competition. (And yes, for a town as small as North Arlington - there's an absurd amount of bagel joints.) They have a nice snap and decent flavor. Maybe my favorite part of waiting for my food is checking out the "celebrity gourmet sandwich board" on the back wall. My teen kids might know/recognize 'Dolly Parton' and the 'Sly Stallone' but... Omar Sharif?! And how can you not you appreciate "The President" - vague enough that both Repubs and Dems can 'reach across the aisle' to order it and no arguments or recalls would be necessary. In NA (locals never actually say "North Arlington", now you know!) my favorite bagel place is Sam's. Sadly Metro would be my least fave of the crop. The gentleman behind the counter (the owner?) is really friendly. (And there's a parking lot - which gets crazy as the day progresses.) read more

The female server that they hired is very rude. She wouldn't let me order from her. I have a long running relationship with them. Then we opened the bag after spending over 30 dollars. Found out about Metro Bagels & Grill because I work in area. I would drive passed this place all the time and decided to stop by one morning for breakfast. I ordered a turkey bacon Egg and cheese on a roll with mayo and ketchup and it was incredible. It is my usual order when I buy breakfast at a store in my neighborhood, so I wondered if it was going to taste the same. It's my usual order now every time go. The staff is very friendly and they have a wide variety of sandwiches and bagels, coffee and sides.Although I've only tasted their breakfast sandwiches I can imagine that the rest of their food taste just as great. read more

Here's a great local family owned bagel shop. The people are friendly and the deals are great. They have a $4.25 egg and cheese with coffee deal that i love ordering. They make it fresh on the spot. The coffee isn't the best but if you ask for a flavor shot, it changes the game. They also have the best prices on a dozen bagels. The service is fast, friendly and they all wear masks and gloves while preparing the food. read more

The staff is really nice but I feel like that may be the only plus side. The space is small so it's more of a grab-and-go place. My friend and I got an egg and cheese on jalapeno bagel but it left a lot to be desired. There was barely any egg or cheese in it and the bagel was extra thick so I felt like I was just mainly eating a bagel by itself. Me and my husband would say this is the best breakfast burrito we've ever had. I think they put a hint of barbecue sauce with ketchup in it such a breath of fresh air and a different take on a breakfast burrito and the home fries inside 10/10 it's something my grandmother would've cooked definitely will be back and worth the money!!!! read more

My first name may not be Thomas, but DAMN this is a good bagel spot. I have religiously come here before a dreaded weekend work appointment, a treatment to a vicious hangover and when I'm attempting to get over a breakup by carb- induced happiness. This is a shop run by a family, and you always see the same three faces in there that will get to know your order. Speaking of orders, you can place your order on the phone and it will be promptly ready for pickup. They make a decent ice coffee and dozens of flavors of cream cheeses! I personally prefer the everything bagel stuffed with eggs, cheese and taylor ham. They are so big you can easily eat half for breakfast and half for lunch. So I agree with Brian M. I don't know how that Dunkin Donuts is still in business next door. What they need to do is join forces with the liquor store and put some Baileys in my coffee. read more

Came here once with my brother before skating Kearny skatepark...I didn't even know we had entered another city. We just drove past the park in search of food and stumbled across this place. I used Google street view to find the name of it just now. How are there no reviews??? Had a bagel with egg and ham...so good...it had that home cooked feel to it. Like...it was made with love. In Front cashier people are good. But the cook is rude! He gave me wrong order and call me back and gave an attitude as I made a mistake by picking up wrong order. However, he did it. He did not apologized at all. My daughter got agh and cheese on a roll and she did not like it. The bagel I got which was good. My recommendation, the cook should be more kind to customer. From the outside its not the best looking place but don't let it fool you. I tried it for the first time ever and had a taylor ham egg and cheese. The bagel looks huge but its actually really soft. I was surprised by the size of them that they are only $4... My only suggestion is to call ahead your order before showing up, they get busy and then your inside waiting for awhile and inside it pretty narrow to stand in. read more

The food is good, but not great by any means. They have a large selection to choose from which is an added bonus, but most of the menu isn't anything special. There are a few people that work there who are awesome at their job, the owner being one of them. If you get someone who is great your food will come out delicious and quickly. If you get anyone else there is a good chance your order will take at least 25 minutes and there will be a few mistakes made (even if you order directly from the menu and don't make any substitutions). I like going here, but the past few trips have resulted in bad orders such as missing items, or the cook made something entirely different. read more

Advertise breakfast spacial 4.45 for egg sandwich and a small coffee, problem is they charge you 6.30 There are no signs posted of minimum charge for credit card but they automatically charge you 1 dollar with out telling you. OK that's BS, look at this math 4.45+1.00=5.45+tax(. 38)=5.83 How did we get to 6.30 O yea they charge a question fee of 47 cents. read more

I'm up in North Arlington 4-5 times a year and always stop here for a bagel or a sandwich. They have a big selection of bagel flavors, great bagels, very fresh. Today I had the "Paul Newman" roast beef sandwich: thinly sliced roast beef, really fresh french bread, terrific horseradish dressing. It's one of 40 gourmet sandwiches, besides all the basics. Owners are always nice, but the place is filthy. No idea where they are from but they do not have the same health standards as I do. Cannot believe they are not closed by the board of health, makes me have little faith in this department. The main refridgerator that holds the salads (egg salad, tuna, etc) and cream cheese is broken. Instead of fixing the issue, they set a fan up to blow into the fridge to keep the air circulating. read more
