I use to love eating at this restaurant until my last experience. Now they are pricey however my food has always been good. My order was incorrect so I called and tried to explain to the owner and he immediately became so defensive. He became upset while raising his voice Eventually he offered to remake my sandwich the correct way but I happily declined. They lost a loyal customer that day and any owner that behaves the way he did, does not deserve to be in the restaurant buisness. read more

I moved away from Wichita a decade ago. I always stop here when I come to town. Infamous Bob is a legendary sandwich!

Stopped in last evening for a cocktail and light dinner. Been hearing good things about this place.... I had Seared Salmon and my wife had the Chicken Fontina. Both meals were very professionally prepared and the flavors were off the chart. Even the Tomato and Basil Bruschetta was beyond descriptive for the quality of the flavors alone. Small small small joint, virtually one other couple there at 8:30 on a Saturday. Probably due to the basketball games NCAA tourney. Still, not the best location- but parking and getting there was simple. Our server seemed a little under-trained and we had to ask for refills on water. Never offered any sides for the dinner, but we were great with the main entree. Crazy good music playing. 70's rock, soft enough to be "cool". Nice lighting too, relatively dark. We will definitely be back to enjoy the place again. The food business is so tough in Wichita due to the multitude of offerings, give this place a shot Yelpers, we really enjoyed it! read more

This place has great food always. I had the Cubano sandwich & my wife had the Bomb. We loved both of our sandwiches. The sandwich's are a unique blend of flavors which end up delicious. Bummed. I haven't had a Cubano in over a year and was excited to find this place with that on the menu. The Cubano had chips in the sandwich which was interesting but the chips leave the sandwich very dry and your mouth and throat begging for something wet. The garlic potatoes were good but at $5 the side is too much and too big. Dropping it $1.50 and cutting the portion in half would be much better as a dry Cubano and way too many potatoes runs near the price of a 6 oz steak with 2 sides at other chains. The place should be more relaxed with paper towels and the Cuban served in a red basket and a dill slice with a small cup of spicy mustard to help with the dry Cubano. Fancy napkins and a banged up menu just don't go together. read more

Mahi sandwich is the only item I have tried. Been here about 10 times. I want to try other items but always choose the Mahi. I do take out must of the times. Dine in is nice. Full drinks are available. I get salad which is simple but amazing. Perfect dressing. All around Metro Bistro is well worth visiting and becoming a regular...And on some nights the owner play a guitar (softly and not loud) which is very relaxing. Love this place. Support Andover! Wow! I did not expect a place like this in the heartland! We had the cuban, a mahi-mahi sandwich and asparagus. All were AMAZING. The style inside is neat, and the staff was friendly. A friend too me to lunch here today. It's a cute little spot in Andover. Our waitress was friendly and helpful. I had the mozzarella caprese and a cup of their soup. I don't know if it's the same soup every day- it just says "soup" on the menu. The caprese was delicious- very fresh! The soup was my favorite part. It was a spicy cheese something or other- I did not catch the name. I twas served with two toasted slices of thick french bread. We split a dessert of the brownie cheesecake. It was much, MUCH more brownie than cheesecake, so that was a disappointment for me. If you're more into brownies than cheesecake though, you'll love it. I thought it was a tiny bit pricy for what we got. It took awhile to get seated and served, even though the restaurant was mostly empty when we were there. I was really excited when I was cuban sandwich on the menu which is why I went here. There are two any authentic cuban joints here in Wichita Kansas so I was hoping this place would fill my void. Unfortunately, this place was disappointing. The staff was nice but the food was not authentic. The Cuban sandwich was one. Instead of the potato sticks I. The sandwich you normally would find, they used kettle cooked Ridged potatoes chips Instead. It all tasted off. The garlic potatoes were just baked cubed potatoes with massive amounts these of dried seasoning on it. And the mozzarella, tomato caprese was disappointing as the vinaigrette was overpowering. I love their tag line, "Eat What You Deserve," because you really ought to. At Metro Grill II, what you deserve is organic produce, complex sauces, exciting flavor combinations, and beautiful presentations. Owner and chef Michael Gonzalez is a delight to talk with as he flits around the kitchen effortlessly whipping up the dishes from his Italian/Cuban background. Michael treats his employees like they're his children, which is to say he barks random orders at them, but with love in his voice. His father hangs out and oversees the operations; I love a resident old man in the kitchen, which my friend and I agree is tantamount to good food credibility. Yesterday I tried (with three other people) the Boliche, Pasta VIP, Salmon Gabrielle, The Real Cuban, and for dessert, the Flan. The Boliche-- the Boliche! A traditional Cuban roast topped with a rich tomato sauce, was served with black beans and rice, and garnished with sauteed plantains. The flavor and texture of the beef round was so tender, the sauce so rich and light at the same time, I found myself hovering over the plate so no one could take the last bites. Which brings us to the Real Cuban ($7.95), a pressed pork loin and grilled ham sandwich on Cuban bread, melded with melted swiss cheese, grilled onions, and spicy mustard. What really makes the sandwich though is the tangy, salty dill pickles grilled inside. I could eat one for lunch, and come back for another at dinner. The other dishes were excellent and amazingly executed (a bleu cheese-stuffed dried apricot to garnish the arugula salad-- perfection) and the flan was Temptation's younger sister, Decadence. But if I described it all, I would have a novel. Just go in! Everything-- especially the Cuban delights-- will leave you full to the brim and begging for more. read more

This place is horrible. We've tried to eat there three times and each time there was something wrong. 1st attempt: They were closed yet the hours posted on the window said 9:30. Maybe you should think about posting your business hours on the door. 2nd attempt: After the first time, we found out you opened at 11:00. We arrived shortly after 11 only to be told that they were waiting on a shipment of food. They said hopefully they would have it about 11:30. Ugh! Not very organized. 3rd attempt: Arrived once again after opening and they were closed. Two other cars were waiting outside wondering what was going on. I got out to see if anyone was in the restaurant and noone was there. At 11:30 on a Wednesday and noone is there? I left a nice note on their door, Simply stating the obvious. I had no idea this place was here. I dropped in for a quick lunch and wow was I surprised. Today's special was the Italians. The flavors were spectacular. I can't wait to come back to try the Cubano. The food here is absolutely awesome. Everything has a very unique flavor you won't find anywhere else! I typically get the bistro burger along with the roasted poblano and white cheddar soup. Definitely one of the best burgers I've ever had! So buttery and smooth! So often when going out, restaurants all have similar soups, but not here! I've also tried the bomb sandwich, which was just as good. The environment is also extremely chill and relaxing, which I love! My wife and I decided to eat here not knowing anything about it. To say the least we were not disappointed. I had The Real Cuban and my wife had the Philly Steak, both were delicious. We also ordered the Caprese salad to share, which was also delicious. It is small but cozy more than cramped. It's a relaxed atmosphere with soft music playing in the background. It has a small kitchen so there was a bit of a wait for our food, so if you're in a hurry it's probably not the best place to stop. But if you have a little time it's well worth it. For a nice lunch in Andover, this is the place to go. My wife and I split the Cubano and pasta. OMG, both were delicious. The chips do not come with the sandwich, but for an additional 50 cents the homemade chips are a nice touch. Finishing the meal with an order of tiramisu was the grand finally. I love Metro Grill. Tonight my wife and I both had the Pasta Mia, mine with sausage and my wife added shrimp. Love the Pasta Mia. My mother-in-law had the Pasta VIP. I snagged a bite of this and it's a garlic lover's dream. I've never had a bad meal at Metro Grill. I seem to gravitate to the pasta dishes, but the Infamous Bob and the Cuban sandwiches are delicious. I only have one complaint. The ventilation system needs to be improved. You always come out of there smelling like Metro Grill. I'd give it five stars if not for this, and I promise I'd come for lunch more often if they got a better range hood. Be aware that you're not going to dine on fine china, but they still care about presentation. I'm so glad we've got this "change of pace" place in Andover. read more

I have lived in the Andover area for 30+ years. And Andover has never had a restaurant like this. Normally it is just a location for the next fast food joint or dive restaurant. You know it is bad when getting an Applebee's was big news. Metro Grill finally brings a classy local restaurant with a flair and great food. Menu: The menu has very interesting east coast type of flair with a hint of Cuban, Italian and americana influence. Staff: Chef Michael has a flair about him that adds to the experience. And the two cooks took great care in preparing attractive food. It was not slopped onto the plate. Food: The flavor of the food is amazing and unique. My wife and I both tried the Infamous Bob sandwich with a side of asparagus and it was outstanding. I saw at least 5 other sandwiches and dishes that I wanted to try in my next visit presentation: I was not a big fan of the paper plates and the plastic forks. BUT... if it keeps the costs down and it is passed on to the customer I am ok with it value: I expected to a pay a bit more going in. But pricing was surprisingly reasonable when you compare it to a deli like Jason's Deli atmosphere: very basic but unique environment. New York wall hangings. Cool modern art using spoons and forks above the grill area. Not loud and dirty like Jason's Deli Negative: It is a newer restaruant, but has been there long enough to have a more established sign. The sign is a banner hanging on the front of the building. I honestly had drove by the restaruant a number of times and was put off by this. It was not until I talked to someone and the restaurant recommended to me that I tried it. Some nice signage shows establishment and class. It doesn't have to be LED and lit up like a Christmas tree. But a basic classy sign would be a great addition Overall: A very charming and unqiue experience. I will recommend Metro Grill to others and will return to try other dishes read more

Maybe we ordered the wrong thing, but food was very disappointing. Went on a Tuesday evening for light dinner. The Good: nice decor, small bar offering more than wine and beer, good service (not a lot of customers), 1/2 price wine by glass or bottle on night we were there, nice menu options. The Bad: wanted to love this place, but the food disappointed. Started with edamame appetizer, which was good (hard to screw up). Husband and I both ordered the fish sandwich, which was nothing like the photos posted here. It was basically a tartar sauce sandwich with tomato. Could barely find the fish and way too much tartar sauce! They flaked the fish and put one very thin layer on the bread. Kettle chips are an extra charge and are served with a spice seasoning, which underwhelmed. Would be better to make the seasoning optional, since it appears to be just sprinkled on top of store-bought chips. Doubt that we will return. read more

Waitress was friendly but the food was far from delicious. I used to enjoy going here but I believe they saved the menu but quality of ingredients has gone down. I ordered the beef tenderloin (med rare) and the beef that came out was that of a chuck steak. Meat looked as though it was not fresh (discoloration when cut into) and it was over cooked. Will not be coming back as the new owners have taken short cuts and have tried to fool their clients with cheap ingredients. read more

Excellent food! In Wichita for work and came across this place. I ordered the Bistro Burger and it was very tasty.

So it's been sold to some opportunistic 22-year-old. I suspected as much, as changes were evident right away--small things like too much parmesan on the asparagus (which wasn't prepared quite as well, too, unsurprisingly--as if it were all that hard to do in the first place), country music on the radio with the NYC photos and menu (no, they don't do country too much in Gotham); big stuff too... one of the soups is gone from the menu; parmesan is now obviously from the green can; cheaper hot dogs instead of Famous Nathan's. Not good. The new owners are accountants, not foodies (not to mention the noticeable absence of panache). Back to the mall for me, I guess. Ugh. what a thought. read more

This place was awesome! We were there on a Monday around noon. We chose to try the special which was a chicken turkey bacon sandwich. It was amazing!!! It was big enough that I could have only eaten half and been satisfied but it was so good I couldn't stop! Been here a handful of times now and this truly is a hidden gem in the wasteland of fast food that is Andover. My favorites are the Mahi and Bistro Burger, but everything we have tried has been fantastic. Also, nice quiet environment with friendly staff, great for a business lunch or casual dinner.
