    Serbian Americana

I got to say they have the best french toast I've tried so far. They are huge, soft and fluffy. Most places make it very dry and hard. So I will definitely recommend getting the french toast. We came for brunch on the Saturday morning. We got there around 9:30am. A line started forming shortly after. We opted to sit outside since it's was a nice morning. We almost got attacked by the little seeds from the Palm tree up above but good thing we were saved by the umbrellas LOL My fiance for the Serbian Americana Breakfast with a caramel latte w/oak milk. The proscuitto was tasty and worked great with the eggs. Came with 2 pieces of mozzarella and baguette. The baguette was made fresh, still soft. We also really enjoyed the caramel latte with oat milk. It didn't come with the nice latte art though but it tasted good. Not too sweet. If we're ever in the mood for brunch again, we'll definitely come here again. Service was ok. We had to ask for water refills. Not sure about the parking situation since we decided to walk there.

So this is somewhat hidden. You only hear or know of this cafeteria if you work near Metro, or you work for Metro. I heard of this cafeteria from my coworkers when I started working for the city. I wanted to grab some lunch but didn't want Denny's or walk too far. A menu is planned weekly and there are daily choices of salads, hot meals, sandwiches and soups. All affordable. I would recommend eating here if you are hungry, want home cooked meals and don't want to spend a lot.

I use to come to the Metro Cafe everyday in order to get my lunch. On days where I don't feel like eating a lot I just grab a bowl of chili or anything that looked good. They have a new agua fresca everyday and a lot of variety to choose from. Their food is pretty good for an affordable price of around $7-$8. It's located on the third floor of the MTA building. Take the escalators twice in order to get to the third floor.

Metro's cafeteria may not have 4-star food, but it merits one extra star for location and value. Just steps away from the East Portal of Union Station, this affordable employee cafeteria is open to the public for breakfast and lunch. Just enter Metro Headquarters (aka "The Taj Majal") and take the escalators up to the 3rd floor. Turn left and you'll be at the entrance. No need to check in with security, that's only required for going up the elevators to the Metro and Metrolink offices. Note the beautiful paintings depicting the history of transportation in Los Angeles. The Metro Cafe is open weekdays for breakfast and lunch and offers both hot and cold items. You can get a breakfast cooked to order, or choose from a large variety of cereals and pastries. There's coffee and orange juice too. For lunch there is a sandwich bar and a salad bar. There are also the standard burgers and lunch specials, including Asian and Mexican dishes. My favorite is the cook to order station where you tell the cook just what you want. I had a very decent chicken and veggie pesto pasta with a drink for just $8.50 ! On a previous visit, I had a Mongolian beef and veggie stir fry with rice for a similarly low price. The cafe overlooks the tracks at Union Station, so it's a great place to go if you like to watch trains coming in and out of the station. The best place to view this activity is a couple of chairs and tables at the north window, just beyond the cashier. The outdoor deck is nice too, but you have to stand up, or be very tall, to get a good view.

New owners (trimana) got their shit together. Food here is simple, basic, and cheap. Exactly whats needed for a workplace cafeteria.

(If the inside is full sit outside for a nice breeze, the WiFi still works decently well outside!) I got the orange mint matcha which was both rich and refreshing at the same time - the orange slice was fresh and a nice bite at the end! The seasonal menu also looked good, I hope I can return to try it at a later time. Lots of matcha options for those looking. Pretty big food menu too, which I didn't try this time sadly! Parking in the garage is validated for 30 minutes and then they start charging at the regular rate. They do NOT take tap to pay, as I learned the hard way. Parking is my only complaint about this spot! I loved Archives of Us and I'll be back to try more!

The strawberry matcha einspanner was also yummy and had a great presentation The space is pretty small but there are a few seats available. Order: matcha latte, less sweet Price: $7…read moreLuckily I went during a time that surprisingly wasn't busy. The parking lot was full, but there was street parking right around the corner. Service was friendly and staff were helpful when I asked about adding a matcha cream top to the matcha latte. I ordered my matcha less sweet just in case my drink would be too sweet. The drink wasn't sweet at all which I didn't expect, but it wasn't a bad thing. I wouldn't make any adjustments next time. The matcha was astringent, bitter, and umami. I did taste some slight graininess, but nothing too bad. I think they prepare the matcha as a paste then add it to the top of the milk. I've never seen other places prepare their drinks like this before! Overall, it was a solid drink for an decent price.

4.5 Yelp Stars *** Stopped by here to pick up coffee before…read morethe long roadtrip home to the Bay Area! This was one of the closer coffee spot with good reviews that I found near the kbbq place (Seogwan by Yellow Cow Kbbq) my family and I ate at for lunch. It was about 0.5miles (3 mins drive). The coffee shop is super large, bright, and has nice background music. There are plenty of seats for people to hang out or study. There are also street parking but can be difficult to cross the street due to cars driving by so quickly without a pedestrian crosswalk on one side. I ordered their signature drink which was the orange espresso tonic with one extra shot for my husband, and the double mango matcha for myself. Both of us really enjoyed the drinks, especially the orange espresso tonic. It was refreshing, clean, and easy to drink. Normally, they include double shots of espresso, which may have tasted stronger for me since my husband wanted three shots, and I usually stick with two shots. The double mango matcha uses fresh fruit syrup so the mango flavor was not too strong and my drink was very creamy due to the signature mango cream on top. Usually, I would enjoy a creamy matcha but it made me more thirsty on a hot day. The service took a bit of time since they had to mix my matcha the legit way with the bamboo whisk. The matcha tasted like premium, ceremonial matcha since it was stronger and authentic in taste. Overall, both drinks were enjoyable but if I had to choose one, I would go with the orange espresso tonic even though I love mango matcha!

If you plan to sit here, there's a one-drink-per-person minimum. The café itself is aesthetic and filled with natural light.
