I only had one drink here, but it was well balanced. I really enjoyed it and I can't wait to come back here and try more things next time I'm in the neighborhood.
If i can give this place a -1/10, I would. If you're here for their matcha, dont even bother. The ratio alone tells me this was going to be milky. I was right. Tastes like mango with a none existent matcha taste. Youre paying $8-9 for milk, topper and mango taste. The mango tasted artificial. Not to mention, you can sit inside if you buy a drink AND food.
Great little local coffee spot near K-town. Surprisingly, each time I have gone I was able to find parking right in front, for free, bonus! They have a nice outdoor patio area as well as a bright, clean and modern space inside to sit. Staff here is friendly, the drinks are made to order and take a bit longer than a coffee chain, but they are putting care into making the drinks. They have all the various coffee's you may be looking for, straight black coffee, blended, latte, espresso, matcha, etc. I typically get a non-fat latte. The espresso is smooth and not bitter, they do make them strong, so if you like strong coffee, you will be happy, if not, just add some creamer or sweetness to it, etc. to take off the edge. The one thing I wish they had more of is food, they have pastries and snacks, but limited, it would be nice to get something more substantial when visiting to get my coffee fix. Great spot, a change from the big chains out there and you are supporting a local business. Check them out. Enjoy!
Every time we return to this place we are greeted by the owner himself. He is so kind and warm. I ordered the matcha duo for the first time and it was amazing. The perfect balance of sweet and earthy. My boyfriend got a vanilla latte which was delicious as well. Van Dyke is definitely one of our go-to's for coffee in ktown. Highly recommend!
We've tried their Dutch latte, houjicha oat latte, orange mocha and orange espresso tonic. All the drinks are good, but my favorite was Orange espresso tonic. It sounds strange but it works. It's kinda like how you use orange with chocolate cake (Barefoot Contessa recipe), I think. The flavors enhance each other in a strange way. Their other drinks were good too, but I feel like the orange mocha and orange espresso tonics were the standouts. Space is nice, there are a lot of people studying, and I think they require you get at least a drink to stay. There are a few tables outside as well, if you want to visit with your furry friend. Right next door to Yama Sushi. We've always found parking on the street, but I think you can also park in the lot you enter from the side. We've also gotten their roasted coffee beans, and it's delicious! They usually have freshly roasted bags available, like ones that they just roasted a day or two ago. FYI, they recommend waiting about 5 days before using it for coffee, I guess that is when the flavors are ideal. Nice staff and some pastries are available as well.
Free 90 minute parking in structure. Tons of seating indoor and outdoor, great for a study session or a quick work from cafe. Chestnut Latte -sooo good, not sure if it's a new item or a seasonal item. They had a small printout near the register. Bits of chestnut throughout the cold foam and the sprinkle of cocoa powder really enhances the nutty flavor. Coffee was solid as well. Orange Mocha -if you've every had Terry's orange chocolate during the holidays, this literally tasted just like it. Bits of orange zest or dry pulp throughout that adds some texture. Coco Ube Cloud -you can really taste both the coconut and the ube shine through the espresso. Good, creamy and not too sweet. Double Mango Matcha -pretty sweet in my opinion, might ask if they're able to adjust sweetness next time. Matcha was good but not as strong as I'd prefer. Dutch Latte -good but also quite sweet.
Yummy coconut matcha drink and peaceful study spot! Loved my coconut matcha! Very refreshing, not too sweet, and the perfect blend of flavors. The inside has plenty of wooden tables and seating, while the back end tables have a couple of chargers. I like all the natural light from the windows, and WiFi's pretty good. The service was quick too.
I visited Van Dyke Coffee last Saturday afternoon with my family. My brother ordered two Americanos. On a previous visit with My Mom in February, we tried the Dutch Latte, and I love how they serve a complimentary mini waffle cookie with each Dutch Latte order. Every coffee we've tried here has been delicious, and the staff is consistently friendly, which makes the experience even better. Another huge plus is the parking; the lot is very spacious and convenient. cf) There is a 90-minute parking limit posted in the parking lot.
Great coffee shop in K Town! There are plenty of coffee shops to pick from, but this newer shop is a wonderful addition. I have been here twice in the last month already, once to hang and another to get some work done. The shop is clean, modern, with plenty of seating both inside and outside. There is a hand washing area in addition to restrooms. All the drinks I've tried have been great, but I believe the sizes vary by 12 or 16 oz depending on the type, not by the size you yourself pick (my assessment is that "specialty" drinks are 16 oz by default). Staff was also kind during both visits. I've tried the strawberry matcha, matcha tonic, strawberry milk and orange mocha. All have wonderful balance, and the fruit components taste fresh and not overly sweet. I also tried a pistachio croissant during one visit, which was also yummy. I found street parking during both visits but I see other reviews saying there is 90 minute free parking at the lot behind the shop. Will definitely use that next time.
Double mango matcha is more mango than matcha (i suppose that's what the name implies?). Almond yuzu croissant was interesting! I prefer a normal almond croissant but it was cool to try. There's plenty of seating although by lunch time most seats got filled up with people doing work or just chilling. There are outlets but only at the tables against the back wall. Got street parking right in front very easily!
I was getting my car serviced and wanted something to eat. Saw that this coffee shop was nearby and walked over. I got a creme brûlée coffee with oat milk and a cherry danish. The service was fine and the ambiance was nice and quiet. You could sit and do work on your computer, sit alone outside or with a companion and chat over some delicious drinks. I would definitely come back if in the area and try something different.
This is one of my friend's favorite coffee spot !! I didn't love the tonic but my latte was super yummy. The place is spacious with tables so you can do work or study here as well:) Theres also out door sitting and it's also right next to a sushi spot if you want to grab food and a drink
If you've never BEAN to Van Dyke, you absolutely have to! Spilling the BEANS on what I consider to be my new favorite coffee shop in Koreatown. While this cafe is busy, it's not overhyped like a lot of Korean coffee and matcha shops in Koreatown, so lines/wait times are very reasonable and it's pretty easy to find a place to sit. Their drinks are also unique and well-crafted to be perfectly not too sweet, and I love how they roast their own coffee beans and use high quality matcha. I ordered the Dutch Latte, which is a coffee-based latte topped with their signature cream and a Dutch stroop waffle. My friend ordered their Double Matcha Mango, which comes with a matcha-based cream top/einspanner, and has a lovely, almost Japanese-like mango flavor that melds very well with the grassiness of the matcha. This spot is a great spot to converse with friends or get work done, and I'll definitely be back again soon! Note: 90 minute free parking in plaza parking garage or free street parking.
4.5 Yelp Stars *** Stopped by here to pick up coffee before the long roadtrip home to the Bay Area! This was one of the closer coffee spot with good reviews that I found near the kbbq place (Seogwan by Yellow Cow Kbbq) my family and I ate at for lunch. It was about 0.5miles (3 mins drive). The coffee shop is super large, bright, and has nice background music. There are plenty of seats for people to hang out or study. There are also street parking but can be difficult to cross the street due to cars driving by so quickly without a pedestrian crosswalk on one side. I ordered their signature drink which was the orange espresso tonic with one extra shot for my husband, and the double mango matcha for myself. Both of us really enjoyed the drinks, especially the orange espresso tonic. It was refreshing, clean, and easy to drink. Normally, they include double shots of espresso, which may have tasted stronger for me since my husband wanted three shots, and I usually stick with two shots. The double mango matcha uses fresh fruit syrup so the mango flavor was not too strong and my drink was very creamy due to the signature mango cream on top. Usually, I would enjoy a creamy matcha but it made me more thirsty on a hot day. The service took a bit of time since they had to mix my matcha the legit way with the bamboo whisk. The matcha tasted like premium, ceremonial matcha since it was stronger and authentic in taste. Overall, both drinks were enjoyable but if I had to choose one, I would go with the orange espresso tonic even though I love mango matcha! read more
You know the most dangerous drinking game is seeing how long I can stand without coffee on weekdays. Let's begin this new coffee adventure. Van Dyke Coffee Roaster (est. 08/2025) is a relatively new coffee shop in Koreatown, Los Angeles, at West Olympic Blvd. The cafe features a very spacious interior x outdoor seating; thus, it works equally well for focused work sessions, study days, or a relaxed midday break. They have copious signature lattes, hot/cold coffee, coffee bags, pastries and friendly baristas. Their interior decor is modern with long maple wood center table and a relaxing atmosphere. I came late morning to grab a Flat white. And it was strong despite its hobbit size--8oz-- appearance albeit good quality. The female barista who wore a pulchritudinous blue checkered, white folded sleeves that almost matched my blue/white striped long-sleeved shirt was assiduous. I could have absconded with her. lol. Anyways, their service was spot on, however, the price seems above market price. Overall, I had a good experience from VDC. I recommend you visit. read more
The matcha latte is alright. For the price, I think I'd gravitate toward another café. It was $19 for two matchas...that I didn't think tasted worth the price. Service was standard. If you plan to sit here, there's a one-drink-per-person minimum. The café itself is aesthetic and filled with natural light. The drink has that bitter matcha flavor, which I'm usually okay with, but this one wasn't very smooth. It left an aftertaste that I didn't enjoy. read more

I got the lychee lemon refresher which was good! It has a green tea base, which is not too noticeable and the lychee flavor was pleasant with the club soda. I would get it less sweet next time, but it was a nice lychee sparkling drink for a hot day! I previously tried their orange espresso tonic and loved it as well. Spacious cafe for a cafe in LA. Came here on two separate occasions and both drinks were sooooo yummy. No complaints or suggestion :) The first time I went, I think they were doing some sort of promotion so I got a free little sweet treat with my matcha-- bonus!! They were also passing out Korean cracker snacks? It was so kind of the owner :) The space is also nice to do work! I sat at a table by myself and the communal table. Both are fine but would definitely prefer a table to myself! read more
This place is genuinely a USC satellite campus because I literally saw four people I knew while we were there. I got a matcha latte and the drink was like 80% ice and only 12 oz. It's a decent quality matcha with a slight savoriness to it and doesn't need sugar to cover up any grassiness. It's set up to be a nice study space with large rectangle tables and small circle tables as well as bar seating, but I wish the tables were wider. It's echo-y because of the high ceilings and concrete walls, though, so it felt a little overstimulating. read more

Another LA/Ktown cafe on my must-try list, my cousin recommended this place, so we went to grab some coffee before we started our day. There wasn't a line when we got there, so that was nice. The cafe is super clean and decor is simple but very tasteful. I ordered an iced Dutch Latte, which seemed pretty unique as it is topped with salted cream paired with a stroopwafel to nibble on. Coffee was good, not too sweet, the salted cream paired really nicely with the coffee and balanced out the sweetness. The stroopwafel was a fun addition, but I think it could've been better incorporated in the drink itself like as a crumble on top or if it was dipped inside vs. sitting on top of the lid. I would definitely keep this cafe in one of my cafe rotations whenever I'm in LA. Vibes were great. read more

I go around Ktown all the time trying to find the best matcha places. Anko was my #1 until I came here. I had a large ceremonial grade double matcha with a small amount of sweetener and it was SO CREAMY and SMOOTH!!!! The guy (who I imagine is the owner or manager in duty) was so nice. Really fast service, tons of seating and there was great energy in the room all around! I will 1000% be back, especially since there's affordable sushi next door that's also rated really well :) read more
Visited Van Dyke in LA and blind tried their double mango matcha since I love a good Mango Matcha. On first impressions The mango flavor definitely tasted different from a pureed mango, more-so like mango juice and no actual mango chunks, so just a heads up if thats what you're looking for this won't be the mango matcha for you. Nonetheless, it was still a solid matcha, and you can still taste it with the mango. Van Dyke has good space inside the cafe to study & outside seating. My friend ordered the Coconut matcha (pictured in the back) which I didn't get to try but she said was pretty good as well. read more
Discovered a new shop and it was so cute! The baristas were so helpful through the drink menu and offering recommendations. I ordered a light roast pour over + oat milk and it was delicious! There were lots of folks in there studying and handing, but there was plenty of seating outside and by the bar. I love how much natural light seeps in. Perfect place to enjoy a cafecito and quick read or study sesh! I did street parking, but had to move after an hour for traffic purposes. Not sure where to park long term? read more

I've heard good things about Van Dyke and finally got to visit. The place is busy but that's only a good thing. I love a well made espresso drink so I went with the Orange Mocha since this was a strangely warm weekend in LA. WOW I don't know who thought of this but it works! I'm familiar with orange and chocolate combinations but those two flavors, dialed down a bit with the citrusy aroma in an iced latte is just the surprise I needed. I'm hard to impress with coffee drinks but I was today. If you look closely at the bottom of the drink, it had orange zest/pulp which tells you it's all natural. They also use high quality well roasted coffee beans. The coffee was perfect. There was a bit of a line but they move quick and there were a few tables available outside which was a nice place to enjoy the drink. They have free parking inside the building, just drive to either the side to enter. 90 mins free. It is next to Yama seafood. read more
The big store name signage had caught our eyes a while back and we finally got a chance to check them out. We ordered the following hot coffees: Dutch latte: Good, but not great Orange mocha: same as above The store is beautiful and spacious with high ceilings, so felt very comfortable there. Service was friendly and welcoming. I saw they had a bathroom which always is a plus. It's a new store, so hopefully they can improve their coffees. I'll stop by in a few months to check them out again. read more
My partner and I stopped by this new coffee shop, and both wanted to like it more than we did. I got the Dutch latte and my partner got a double mango matcha. The Dutch latte is basically an einspänner style latte with flecks of cinnamon and a stroopwafel served on top. The espresso was pretty solid, and was a nicely pulled shot and the stroopwafel was nice to dip into the drink. However, the cold foam top was far too sweet for my taste, and really overpowered the espresso. I had a few sips of the drink that blended nicely, but then it all sorta got muddled together into a sweet mess. My partner's double mango matcha tasted off as well. The matcha was not as high of quality as some other shops in the area, and the drink tasted watered down almost immediately. The mango syrup also tasted artificial. Milk alternatives cost an extra 75 cents, which is whatever. I wish more places would have a complementary dairy free option, but 75 cents is a bit cheaper than average amongst places that charge. On the plus side: The shop has ample seating and probably would be a solid spot to work from. They also have free parking in a garage behind the store. Easy and free parking is always a plus, especially in Koreatown. read more
Stopped by after having lunch next door to try this newly opened coffee/matcha spot in ktown, and unfortunately it was a total miss for us. When we try a new coffee or matcha place, we usually go for their popular signature drinks. We ordered the double mango matcha and their dutch latte. The matcha was the biggest disappointment, the quality felt extremely subpar for nearly a $10 drink. The mango flavor tasted artificial and low grade and left an unpleasant bitter aftertaste. As for the Dutch latte, the cream top was entirely too sweet and overpowered the espresso. What bothered me most was the amount of ice. The cup was completely filled, which made it seem like a full drink, but after a few sips it was basically gone. That was frustrating given the price point. The only positives were the friendly staff and the spacious interior, which could be nice for getting work done. Unfortunately the drinks just didn't deliver. Another new ktown coffee spot that lacks quality and personality. I don't think we'll be returning. read more

If you're in need for a matcha fix, this is a good place to go. The popular and viral Rok matcha is down the street but I did not want to wait in line for that on the weekend. I saw Van Dyke was down the street and decided to check it out and I was pleased!! The variety of the drinks was impressive and everything is not too sweet. Definitely good if you're looking for a lighter beverage instead of a heavier creamer sort. Very chill cafe vibes. Easy to grab and go as well as there's seats and tables for those looking to do work and study. read more

Came here on a Friday morning and there was a good amount of people working / studying but my friends and I got lucky that there was a table available inside since it was kinda chilly. There's also a good amount of outdoor seating as well. Service: staff were very friendly and knowledgeable of their menu! Food/Drinks: Friends and I got the Orange Mocha, Dutch Latte, and Hojicha Oat Latte and we all loved our drinks! Love that they roast their own beans and I can tell they also use high quality Hojicha which is a plus. I also got one of the chocolate chip cookies that was surprisingly delicious, honestly was not expecting it to taste that good LOL Parking: street parking, not sure if they're partnered up with any parking lots nearby though. read more
Tried this spot for the first time and ordered the Mango Matcha and Orange Mocha -- both were really good! The Orange Mocha was my favorite -- great flavor and perfectly balanced even when made less sweet. Their menu has a lot of tempting options, so I'd definitely come back to try more. The parking was easy with both street and retail lot options, which is always a plus. Inside, the space is bright, nicely designed, and has plenty of seating, making it a great spot to study or just relax with a drink. read more
Brightly lit cafe with some seating and a few outlets for charging. I also liked the outdoor patio for some fresh air. They have a garage, but I was able to find street parking in the neighborhood as well. I really enjoyed the orange mocha. It was refreshingly light yet rich with chocolate flavor. I asked for less syrup, and it was the perfect balance. I also ordered the pesto danish, which was crisp and flaky. I would love to come back to try other drinks and get some work done! read more

Trust me when I say that you will have a hard time finding drinks as high-quality as the ones you'll have here. I was genuinely blown away by the textures and flavors of the three different drinks we tried: The hojicha oat latte was smooth, nutty, and rich with a deep flavor that wasn't too bitter or heavy The Dutch latte isn't just instagrammable - it's legitimately delicious with the perfect balance of spice, sweetness, and quality coffee The strawberry matcha was the most surprising - it's not your typical cafe gimmick with the pink-and-green ombré, it just looks like a normal matcha. However, the strawberry taste was so perfectly balanced against the deep matcha without it feeling or tasting artificial that I'm convinced this is the best strawberry matcha you'll find in any cafe. My family and I stopped by during the after-lunch rush on a Monday afternoon and while they were busy, our drinks didn't take long and other customers seemed just as satisfied. We were more than happy to spend some time in the space thanks to the ample seating and bright, yet calming atmosphere. My sister and I had brought our babies and there was still plenty of space for our strollers, which we really appreciated! There's also spaces for solo sitters outdoors, which reminded me of cafes in Korea and Japan. Parking wasn't too bad if you know where to go (there's a garage behind the building by a bank lobby with spaces designated for the cafe). There's also a Japanese grocery store next to the cafe, which is convenient if you're also looking to grab a quick bite! I came here on a Thursday around 11am, and there were a lot of tables taken but I was still able to get one! Plus there's a lot of outdoors tables. One day when it's hotter I'd love to work outside here. the vibe is chill and I loved the inside. Lots of seats, lots of natural light, and that clean modern aesthetic. Personally I'm a fan! Not too modern though, still lots of wood toned which I liked. I ordered a matcha, sweetened with agave, and I think it was pretty good! My matcha did clump a little though, but I'm not mad because it was still good. I also ordered a chocolate croissant, which was good but the chocolate was only in one part of the croissant. I've been watching for this coffee spot to open up. It's located next to my favorite Japanese market. They have a good selection of coffee drinks, pour overs and matcha latte drinks, as well as their own roasted beans. I ordered the iced orange tonic coffee, which is one of their signature drinks. Stagger coffee also has a similar drink. In fact, there were a few offerings that are similar. I'll give the edge slightly to Stagger coffee for their orange tonic, but parking is much easier at Van Dyke's. There 's both a parking structure and decent street parking. Van Dyke's also has a good selection of both savory and sweet pastries. I opted for the Earl Grey lemon cookie which was quite tasty. Everything is new and modern inside with an array of good tables, counter and outdoor seating. It surprises me how busy all these coffee shops are in the middle of a weekday even being within blocks of each other. Van Dyke's is a good addition to the KTown coffee scene. Was here today and overall had a good experience, except for some minor things. Me and a friend decided to come here since we were having lunch across the street. We had no idea this new cafe just opened, but we're excited to come after briefly reviewing the yelp page. Walking in, there was still a good amount of seats on a Monday afternoon at 2pm. The place is quite large and has a lot of seats. They also offer WiFi, which makes it a good study spot! I'm not too sure about parking, since I walked over from another place but I would imagine it be tough on the weekends. I ordered the hojicha latte and my friend had their matcha. We both really liked our and each others. The only thing is they only have 1 size, 12oz. I feel like the price for it was fine, though just note it is a smaller drink. Overall, I'll definitely be back. They're still in their soft opening stage and are probably still figuring things out. They also have a large selection of pastries, which looked delicious, definitely a try for next time! read more
9/20/2025 - This is a newly opened Cafe in KTown with a large sitting area. I tried a cup of cappucino that is very good. The Dutch latte is its signature coffee drink - 5 stars. This store uses a ceramic cup to enhance its specity coffee like cappucino. Street Parking is available as well as at a retail store's parking lot behind the Cafe store. read more
I came here and was excited to try the coconut matcha since I love the one from Rok. Unfortunately, I was not a huge fan of it, as it just tasted like coconut water without any matcha flavor, which was disappointing because it was about $8. Next time, I would just stick to Rok. On a side note, my boyfriend got the cold brew and really liked it. read more

It's a pleasure when you're known as coffee shop hunter, as when your friends figure out new ones opening, they just know you are the first person they need to tell. And that's how I end up knowing about Van Dyke. Arriving at the space and immediately gave it my first score with dedicated free parking garage (always tough when you're in Ktown) and super helpful parking assistant. Next came the venue wowed me by how sizable it was, serving tons of seats and beyond that SPACE. It's atypical as sometimes others did provide many seats yet giving the condensed jam-packed feeling. Van Dyke, coming with high ceiling and large glass windows, served the unbeatable ambiance that got me fallen for it. More than that, with almost all coffee shops in town recently offered almost the exact same thing - your regular coffee or matcha with cream top, I started reaching the plateau stage getting it over and over. Seeking for something that's more distinctive, Van Dyke did come with something similar but adding its own creative touch, one of which was their Dutch Latte. Fun mix of caramel, cinnamon, and salted cream top; my forever favorite combo - sweet and salty! Being a roaster as well, the coffee was full-bodied with smooth finish. If one thing I could wish for with this drink would be bigger serving size LOL. Not to forget, what's carrying 'Dutch' in the name meant without serving it with Stroopwaffle, right? Surely felt like the cherry on top! I paired my coffee with their pastries as well, which the attendant told me as baked in house. My pick went to their Matcha scone, reheated pre being served, and featured mix-ins of white chocolate and cranberries. It wasn't special special, but would call it a fair performer. read more
