WE ARE SO FURIOUS!! AN ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE SHELTER. DO NOT RESCUE FROM HERE…read more My mom had applied to adopt a cat from this place over two weeks ago. The director said the cat she was interested in wasn't up for adoption yet and she would have to wait. After many days of my mom calling and talking to the lady she basically said that the cat was already hers she just had to wait for him to be available. Today my mom called the shelter again and the director said THAT THEY GAVE THE CAT AWAY!!!! my mom was so devastated. We just lost our family dog and she was so excited and looking forward to getting a new cat. The director said it was because they had heard my mom say she was going to make it an outdoor cat, WHICH IS COMPLETELY FALSE. first, my mom would never do that. She specifically wants a cuddly indoor kitty as a companion, second the shelter specifically said she cant have an outdoor cat and my mom agreed with that part of the contract. It makes absolutely no sense. I could tell from the very beginning something was off about this rescue and I was right. I'm not sure what they're doing over there but whatever it is it's not good. We will probably be getting in contact with a lawyer. DO NOT ADOPT FROM HERE!!!

This was about 2 days before Christmas. I was contacted by one of their adoption coordinators not long after and by New Year's Day I was having a meet-and-greet with my potential kitty. Meet and greet went awesome and I signed the adoption papers that day. In less than a week I'd found my new buddy! The adoption cost ($75) covered neuter, vaccines, microchip and more. I felt great knowing I was rescuing a safe and healthy animal. His foster mom was fantastic as were all the Pawsco people I interacted with. Everyone was very helpful and responsive - it was an easy process and I would recommend them to anyone looking to adopt a pet.

I was told I need to show proof that I was low-income by bringing in my social security paperwork, which that is illegal to ask for on top of the fact that they never let us know that they no longer did in-house payments. If we would have known that we wouldn't have had them do the services that they did. I don't know how they expect someone to pay if they don't have it.Especially someone that's low income and for the secretary that checked this out, it was very rude and disrespectful to my husband on top of the fact that as soon as my husband left out of the building, she was a it's still being rude and being hateful and acting racist toward us. My dog has been going to the vet there for a long time. Now, they've seen him last year at this time for his allergies and the lumps on his body. If you didn't have so much turnover, you guys would know what the last person who's seen him told us about the lumps. I don't think they have their stuff together there. Because one vet told us something last year to make him comfortable. There's nothing they can do for him. And now, this bet is saying the same thing about act rude about it like we weren't not caring for our dog correctly. My dog gets the best treatment ever Financially went in debt. To make sure my dog had a major surgery, I don't appreciate the disrespect, and if you guys are a facility that is racist, then please put a sign up that you're racist

A cat had been brought in under the impression she would be fixed and given her immunizations for the catch and release program. It was also communicated that if they can't do the program then the cat should be returned home so a proper home could be found. They REFUSED to give the cat back and then KILLED her. They didn't even give her a chance. I don't understand why you would get a job to help animals and do the complete opposite?

Planet Pethood is a nice little pet food store at 43rd & Tennyson, right next door to Wine Jesters…read more(the new little wine shop in the neighborhood). The store has various brands and types of pet food, treats, and toys. She also has a few adoptable cats and dogs that were obviously given up by their uncaring people parents. The owner is a vet tech and a vegetarian, and she seems to care deeply about animals. The shop is not as big or as fancy as Mouthfuls pet boutique down the street but it carries the dog food we buy. Nature's Variety is a great natural dry dog food. Our dog loves all the flavors... and while it is more expensive than grocery store dog food, because the food has less cheap "fillers", dogs actually eat less than they would of other "cheaper" brands. So, the price is actually only slightly more more expensive when you factor in the whole bag lasts longer than the same size of cheaper brands. http://www.naturesvariety.com/ 4 1/2 stars because she cares about the animals!

This small and very adorably designed pet store in the Highlands area combines a charming retail…read morespace with a passion for rescued animals. You can view animals available for adoption- usually cats or small dogs- every day during store hours. The store owner describes Planet Pethood as, "a politically correct pet store." I can't justify giving any less than four stars to a cute shoppette that combines support for pet adoption and rescue with a fairly nice selection of foods, treats, toys, leashes, and everything you need for your dog or cat; and Planet Pethood fully deserves the four stars it's getting. I do, however, have some minor gripes. For starters, both the store itself and the website are unclear on exactly what Planet Pethood's involvement with Planned Pethood, the low-cost vet down the street, is. Nowhere can I find an actual percentage donated to a specific organization, and as a rescue person that sets off a serious case of nerves. The website describes the store owner as having her own rescue- but where is the name, the 501(c)3 status, the official website? Also many of the links point to Planned Pethood, but nowhere does the store owner declare an official affiliation. My spidey senses would be beeping if it weren't for the clear support of rescues via adoptable animals in store. I'd love to know if this store donates its profits, and if so, what percentage and TO WHOM; also, how closely, exactly, it is related to Planned Pethood. Second, I have a few snipes to take at the dog food selection. Canidae and Timber Wolf are excellent choices, but where is Innova Evo? I wanted a bag of Innova Evo Red Meat, but left empty handed because it doesn't appear to be on the shelves. And Avo Derm? It uses ground corn in several formulas- NOT exactly up to my pet food standards. Breeder's Choice is similarly well packaged but lacking in actual quality. However, for the slightly less picky than myself, Planet Pethood seems to be a nice pet supply store with many good choices and a true desire to support rescue and adoption.

Their adoption "process" is nothing short of rude! They have no comfortable place to sit (skinny…read morebackless stools), for folks to fill out the electronic adoption form which takes a minimum of half an hour. Then, after you as a customer, are kind enough to provide them with all this detailed information -- they state you will hear from them in 48 hours. WE DIDN'T. When they finally sent an email they stated that we would hear something from them within the NEXT 72 hours (business days). WE DIDN'T. I guess they justify their extremely rude treatment by their last sentence which basically says if you hear nothing from them, you can assume you did not get the cats you attempted to adopt! That is inconsiderate and rude! Their response to this review was they "claimed" they DID tell us there were other people ahead of us trying to adopt the same cat. UNTRUE! (Remember- there were two of us and you did NOT communicate this information to either one of us!) But all readers have to do is look at the multiple other reviewers who also said Almost Home has very poor communication. And, the manager's response was to agree they do have and continue to have this rude policy of failing to notify! I still say if people put in half an hour to answer all their multiple questions then surely they can send out a two minute text informing people they did not get the cat. I was even sorrier that the manager did not agree that they are rude and that in the future they will improve by switching over to a more informative process for the kind people who come to them to adopt their kitties. It appears too many of the cats at Almost Home must be adopted out as a pair which probably decreases their chance of adoption. There was a male volunteer there that seemed like he needs an education about what to say to potential adoptees. He wanted to tell us about THE ORGANIZATION from their point of view instead of providing what he should be saying to customers which is that the adoption fees are very high because it includes neuter/spay, shots and microchip. That is what people want to know so it would be nice if you spent five minutes (or less) teaching them this. As a pair of women with great veterinary care history, animals with longevity, an excellent income, our own home (main home in Colorado and vacation home in Texas) and excellent credit history, it makes me believe if they turn us down, then Almost Home has extremely poor judgement! All of our pets have always been provided with excellent vet care including all shots and even dental care. Our last kitty lived to 14 and only passed away due to renal failure. DO NOT GO TO ALMOST HOME thinking you will be able to adopt soon. They drag out the process more than what is reasonable. ALSO, DO NOT EXPECT GOOD COMMUNICATION or you will be disappointed!
