I want to love metro I really do. It's always packed,?for the most part food is amaze balls. But sadly sports fan, I must tell you with a heavy heart, my last experience brought everything to one conclusion they SUCK. While must of you refuse to believe it and remain in a state of denial, I bring proof!!! You know me, I put careful thought and consideration in my reviews, I wait a day before I post. Let me start with I live for their Benedict (Crab, traditional,California) up until today Metro Diner was hands down the BEST on delivering my Dream of poached egg on English Muffin to create a beautiful eggs Benedict, (snap out of it)!!!!!!You know when you touch it with the fork and the yolks runs like a beautiful symphony, OK well,Not!!!). First sign of trouble when Stephanie (Asks How do want your eggs cooked?) Well this is eggs Benedict after all Why are these yolks so formed that they could be considered soft boiled. The English muffin is as hard as rock, burnt and black. I tried to consume this mess ( after all I did pay $17.00) forgot about it not happening!!! This is horrible...quick hand me the lemonade we ordered. heavy sigh... Clearly they are not attempting to pass this sour, bitter liquid that has to be greater than a week old taste. Wait I get it, I'm being plunked! Where's the camera... Oh this is real ooh in that case where's the TRASH CAN!!! Stop with the apologies and just do better!!! Okay so I had the Shepard's Pie at first I was stuck between this and Chicken Pot Pie. I'm so happy I went with the Shepard's Pie, they put their foot in it. Shit was delicious, I looked like patrick eating I inhaled that shit. The meat and the veggies with mash potatoes and the melted cheese . Shit was lit. We arrived at about 8:30am and didn't think we would find a parking spot. Finally, we did. The parking lot is huge. First - it's in the perfect location for Masters week and I'm sure they make a killing. The seem to have added a back entry way into the parking lot so you can turn left from Washington road near the public to enter into the back of the lot. Very convenient. We were seated immediately and the place was packed. Good sign. It took a little while for our server to take our order - but when she arrived, we gave her our drink and food order. The food took longer than I would have liked- but like I said - it was busy. I had a western omelet special, we also had SF Benedict, and a couple of waffles. When the food came, we all plowed through our food until we got to the hash browns. Crispy outside - uncooked inside. This is our only complaint - food-wise. I smashed the omelet and my wife devoured the Benedict. My only suggestion is to maybe speed up the time where the waitress comes to the table. She may have been newer....but we had to ask for our check. These are nit noid comments. We loved it and will be back again! read more

I must say that this diner rocks. On a Sunday, this place is packed and the wait time for two people was 40 minutes. But the time goes by quickly and the food is good. The staff are pleasant, friendly and hilarious. Our waitress (Hailey) was quick to point out my Northern accept "y'all not from around here, huh?" She explained the menu and offered some suggestions. Husband ordered the chicken and waffles and I had the stuffed waffles with blueberry cheesecake. The chicken was golden and served hot and the waffles were soft, chewy and hot. We also had the flavored coffee of the day. Hailey must have mentioned to her fellow wait staff that we were from Baltimore as others came past our table to great us. They also have $3 mimosas, and you can never go wrong with those. I was quite pleased. I had dinner here with the fam recently on a quick trip to the hometown before heading back to ATL and I had to get their well-known Chicken and Waffle dish. Seriously, that strawberry butter is where the money is. Y'all need to really consider slapping your name on it and putting in grocery stores but that is so good. It's always akin to strawberry ice cream and really adds a special touch to eating chicken and waffles. The hashbrown were a great complement but they were not prepared as I requested with onions and ham and they forget to bring the grits I orders but I didn't fret too badly because I was full off of everything else I had eaten. The food is pretty good, and they have been featured on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives. That's a pretty cool fact. On an extended visit from Brooklyn, NY; found this spot based on Google reccomendations. Convenient location off of the highway, large portions for a good price, quick wait time, okay service and decent food. Offered typical diner style food with the hype revolving around the Chicken & Waffles which boasts very large portions but bland Chicken (tasted like KFC Original). Took advantage of the Mimosa Specials (Apple Pie) which was not a Mimosa but either apple juice & cheap bubbly or plain hard cider w/ a cinnamon sugar rim in a tall glass. I tried Metro Diner for the first time on my birthday. My family and I decided to go there for brunch. We were seated quickly and the staff is very friendly. I love the huge portions! I had the San Francisco Eggs Benedict w/ a size of Home fries and ordered their famous Chicken and Waffles to go. I like that you can customize the hashbrown and home fries to your liking. I added sauteed mushrooms and cheese to mines. I docked a star because I was a little disappointed with the food I ordered during my second visit. I ordered the Charleston Shrimp and Grits. The presentation of the dish was wonderful but the dish itself was bland. I tired my best to doctor it up with pepper. It definitely needs some kind of seasoning to give it a kick. This diner has a great atmosphere and interior that fits its name. The menu is extensive with lots of breakfast and brunch items. I don't know if it's because it just recently opened or not, but the waiters and staff were extremely friendly. You can see the staff prepare the food and bring it to you, and everything was fresh and hot when it arrived to the table. Our first encounter with Metro Diner was in Jacksonville, FL while on vacation. We went to visit after they'd been open a few weeks in Augusta. While I didn't realize Metro Diner was a chain during our Jacksonville visit, I was glad of it by the time we dropped in here. The staff was friendly and seemed really happy to see clients as they came in. The menu was familiar and the portions seemed brontosaurus-sized. We've been a few times now and nothing we've tried has disappointed. Really. Nothing. Everything has been beyond expectations. My only caution was because the floors felt slippery when I walked in. Today was a busy Saturday so the wait was a little long (but expected). Service: FANTASTIC!! Our waiter (Bradley) set the expectations that the food will be ready "when we can get to it". This was perfect in a busy restaurant cause if you tell me 10 minutes, I'm clocking! He even checked back to make sure we were ok. Metro Diner is a favorite restaurant in Augusta, GA for my wife and me. Their food is always delicious, very generous, and served with true southern hospitality. We have also ordered meals for carry-out and those are always ready when promised and are just as delicious as those served in the restaurant. My wife loves the Iron City Meatloaf and said it rivals the meatloaf I make at home. She also enjoys the fried chicken dinner -- it is way better than any other restaurant's fried chicken (including KFC!). The sides are way generous and delicious -- mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans -- prepared excellently so there's nothing left on the plate! I've ordered Mike's BLT, the Belgian waffle, and the Metro Club. The club sandwich is so big, you may need to unhinge your jaw to eat it. The Belgian waffle was superb -- a crispy outside with a light, fluffy interior made it a delight to eat. Whenever we've had a tough day or just want a break from preparing a meal at home, we head to Metro Diner knowing there's friendly service and superb food waiting for us. This restaurant has so much potential. All of the menu options sound amazing but the items my husband and I ordered failed at execution. My husband and I order two specials. He had to Cajun chicken pasta and I had the stuff strawberry cheesecake waffles with fried chicken. My husband's pasta had great flavor but the noodles were way over cooked, to the point were they were mushy. My stuffed waffles looked really messy, like everything was thrown on the plate but it tasted ok. The waffles were cold which kind of messed with the flavor. Me and my husband like to start with a spicy honey chicken biscuit to split and then I get a half order (yes you can do that) of the chicken and waffles with chicken fingers instead of bone-in chicken. My husband gets the full order with the regular chicken and it's AMAZING both ways, I just don't like to mess with chicken bones. I personally skip the strawberry butter as it's too sweet for me, but my husband enjoys it. It's also served with syrup mixed with hot sauce, which really brings it home. Stopped at Metro Diner while traveling home from Maryland. My coworker has dined here before and said it's pretty good. I'll admit, it was pretty good. I chose the Charleston Shrimp and Grits entree. Our waitress was kind of "touch and go"... meaning she vanished quite a bit (neglected to provide lemons for our water... irked me). To her defense, the diner was very busy (beginning of lunch rush). My dish was flavorful with the exception of the grit cakes themselves (came off bland). The sauce and shrimp were awesome and the portion size is huge! I love Cajun/flavorful food... and I ate a similar dish in Louisiana years ago (suppose I'm stacking this dish up against my previous experience). My wife and I love Metro Diner! They are usually busy, which is always a good sign, but they get you seated quickly. My favorite lunch item is their BLT sandwich -- it is piled so high with turkey, ham, bacon, cheese, spring greens that you nearly have to unhinge your jaw to eat it. It's one of the most generous sandwiches I've ever had. My wife loves the Iron City meatloaf. We've usually found restaurant meatloaf to be either nearly tasteless or so dry you need a half gallon of water to get it down. Not so with Metro Diner: the meatloaf is delicious and moist. You almost don't need the gravy, but it's a very tasty addition that enhances the meatloaf well. The mashed potatoes are very creamy and the green beans are cooked to perfection. We ordered for a dinner delivery one night when we didn't feel like cooking. I ordered the chicken tenders plate. It was the best chicken I've had in a long time. The breading is so crisp and the chicken has the right amount of moistness. I wasn't so sure about the Creole mustard dipping sauce -- but after trying it, I was sold. It's the perfect marriage of spicy and sweet that enhances the chicken perfectly. For the price, the portions are very generous -- I couldn't finish everything. My wife loves breakfast for dinner so she ordered the Meat Lovers Omelet. Wow, was that packed with meat! Sausage, bacon, ham and cheese -- she said it was a delicious blend of flavors. I'd like to get some training from their chefs on how they make such a beautiful omelet. You can't go wrong with Metro Diner -- their meals will fill you up without breaking the bank.
