While in town for the weekend my husband and I wanted brunch somewhere unique to Augusta instead of another chain restaurant, and after scrolling Yelp and seeing all the glowing reviews we decided to give this Black owned, family operated spot a try. I noticed online that you can make a reservation for a $20 fee that gets deducted from your check. At first I was a little surprised, but after seeing how busy this place is, it makes total sense. We decided to roll the dice without a reservation anyway. When we arrived on a Saturday morning there were already several people waiting outside. There isn't really an indoor waiting area, so the hospitable hostess took my name and phone number and kindly asked us to wait outside. Later I noticed the sign explaining the process. She quoted us a 40-minute wait, but thankfully we were seated in about half that time. Inside, the restaurant is quaint and cozy with a classic diner feel complete with counter seating and booths. The ambiance is casual and welcoming. If you have a larger party, there are a couple of outdoor tables that appear to accommodate around six people, but personally I think this spot is best enjoyed with a smaller group. Our waitress was friendly, attentive, and kept everything moving smoothly despite the busy brunch crowd. My husband ordered the chicken and waffles while I went with the Garden City breakfast bowl loaded with veggies and home fries plus a salmon croquette on the side. Every single thing tasted homemade and full of flavor. This is what Southern comfort food is supposed to taste like. My husband said the chicken was seasoned well and fried perfectly, and the waffle paired with it beautifully. My breakfast bowl reminded me of the kind of breakfast my grandma used to make, comforting, flavorful, and cooked with care. Portion sizes were just right, enough to leave satisfied without feeling miserable afterward. Prices were also very reasonable for the quality of food and service we received. Stellar customer service, delicious food, and a welcoming atmosphere. If I ever find myself back in Augusta, this will absolutely be one of my repeat stops.

We came in on Mothers Day and was surprised by how busy they were and the organization of the staff. We were quoted a 25 to 30 minute wait for a party of 7. Once we were seated we were greeted by our server Barbara. The first question asked is if we had dined here before. Some of have and some hadn't. She told us about the special board which is on the wall..a chalk board with big bright colors!! She told us about the flavored coffee and tea. I had the Bavarian Chocolate coffee..which is soooooo goooddd!!!. While waiting for her to return with our drinks we observed the organization the kitchen had and how they call out food. We also observed that what looked like managers were helping out with the seating and running food to tables. That was great to see..most places you have to ask to even see a manager. When Barbara returned we were ready to order. I asked if she had any recommendations and she quickly said they serve the full menu all day long so what would I like breakfast, lunch, or dinner. I said brunch. So she said Shrimp and Grits. I ordered it after she explained in detail that it was grits cake infused with cheese, anduille sausage and red peppers and its fried and sits in a creamy shrimp sauce. It was excellent. My husband got the Bold City Burger and enjoyed it. This was our first visit while others at the table dined here before and really raved about this place and I see why. There was four in our party and we arrived about 740 pm last night. We weren't aware they closed at 8. But it was not a problem at all. The manager Rashawn sat us in the back in a both. He pointed out the special board and told us our server would be right with us. Our server Barbara came to the table in less than 2 minutes, introduced herself and went over the special board and featured drinks and menu because it was our first time dining she told us about the most popular items. She took our drink order. I had the Mango tea and my husband had a bloody Mary...which he ordered another half way through our meal. I ordered the Bissell breakfast which was a tremendous amount of food. My husband ordered the Classic eggs Benedict. The couple we were with also ordered the Classic eggs Benedict and a Chicken pot pie. The food came out pretty quick and hot...maybe because they were close to closing. But we never felt rushed and Barbara's customer service was on point. She cleared our dirty plates and conversated with us and made us feel welcomed. If you like your ears to bleed and leave with a headache, this is the place for you! The acoustics inside need to be so much better. Their was about a 40 minute wait which I couldn't understand why as they had seating open and available. This is just way too long to way for what it is. If you like bacon crunchy from a microwave, then this is your place. Their is nothing like extremely thin sliced, extra hard, crunchy bacon to make ya want more. If you want the home fries, well...you'll get what's been sitting there for about an hour as they were cold and hard. It just wasn't worth the actual headache I walked out with from all of the extreme noise and the food, well...if you like microwaved bacon and day old potatoes then you will enjoy this place. A female friend and myself just visited metro diner off Washington Rd and the workers are allowing special privilege to Caucasian. The staff informed us that we weren't allowed to sit in a booth in the back because we requested a booth but they allowed a group of Caucasians to sit in the booth in the back. We informed the staff we still wanted a booth because what makes them special to be able to sit in the booths in the back but nobody else can . My company and myself politely left and went to top dawg tavern. I will never be coming back to this racists establishment.
