Ate a bite before I got my photo. Oops

My friend and I decided to meet up here on a Sunday afternoon. There was a small wait when we arrived but we got seated pretty quickly. Our server provided great service!!! She came on over to take our drink orders. She explained the different mimosa flavor they offered and which ones she recommended. Well.... We got the peach mango mimosa and it was tooo sweet and had an off after taste. I didn't love it. Sips water instead! lol We both ordered chicken and waffle as our entrees. I also added a side of hash browns and my friend added a side of scrambled eggs with cheese. Excellent choices - we gobbled them up! Our food was hot, fresh and delicious!!! I really like the sweet hot sauce that goes on the fried chicken! It's ah mazing! I also loooooooove the hash browns bc they have a crispy exterior but a lovely potatoey taste. Ahhhhhhh SO GOOD! It's been awhile since I visited this location. Many years actually. I really enjoyed everything except for the mimosas.

Oh my goodness, where do I start? From the moment I walked in I felt welcomed. The waiter was extremely nice and I was seated immediately. I placed my order and nothing took long to get to me. All of my food was hot, fresh and flavorful! You must get the STRAWBERRY BUTTER!!! I most definitely will be back. They also offer a 50% off coupon at the bottom of your receipt for your next visit! I also noticed they acknowledge their frequent customers and the entire place just feels like home! The place is clean and has ample space.

This is definitely the place to get your eat on. The portion size for the chicken and waffles is insane. A half a chicken and a whole Belgian waffle for $17!!!!! And the chicken is fried to perfection. One of us got chicken tenders instead of the half chicken. The seasoning on both was on point. Our server, Elle, was super nice and attentive. She was so pleasant. The ambiance is definitely diner style, so bear that in mind if you are wanting something more modern. I will definitely visit again the next time I am in Birmingham.

3.5 out of 5 It has been awhile since I have ordered from a Metro Diner. There was a 50% off entree deal that I signed up for the other week and decided to use it today for a chicken and waffles curbside order. I've always loved the portion sizes at Metro Diner because I am one of those people that can eat A LOT. My waffle came with strawberry butter, syrup, crispy chicken (Breast, wing, thigh and a leg) and hot honey/syrup mixture. Don't talk to me if you're one of those individuals that must have chicken tenders instead of bone in chicken (you can sub chicken tenders though). I do remember the chicken being a lot more flavorful during prior visits to both this and other locations... unless I'm mistaken... but I'm sure I'm not mistaken at all. It was still good and had flavor, however, it required the sauce to fully enjoy it if that makes sense. Curbside - There are no designated curbside spots that I happened to see. According to staff - you park in front of the store for your orders. This seems like it could pose an inconvenience traffic wise for those driving and/or those walking to and from the store front. I could see how it is more convenient and a safer option for the staff members though.

I was extremely excited that there was a Metro Diner in Birmingham. I've visited a few in Florida, but did not they were in Alabama. This place had several great options. I usually get the shrimp and grits, but this time I tried the chicken and waffles. Their mimosas are really delicious. I chose the strawberry lemonade flavor. It gave me lemon drop vibes. Back to the food! Half a chicken came with the order. So I got a leg, thigh, breastfeeding, and a wing. And a fluffy waffle. My aunt ordered the breakfast burger and it looked yummy. I also tried the shepherd's pie. Omgeeeee, it was so good. Anytime I get a chance to eat God food at Metro Diner, I'm there.

It's a nice place for breakfast. Ordered classic Egg Benedict and it was prepared just the way I like it. Avacado toast and carrot pudding , tasty. Service was a bit slow , but understandable as they were busy. Restaurant itself has a pleasant atmosphere.

Feeling a bit nostalgic, I decided to take a 30-minute drive, only to be met with a bit of a letdown. I was hoping to find a diner, you know, a "greasy spoon" that had that old-school charm. It looked like a classic local diner, but something just didn't feel right. Having visited diners all over the country, this one just didn't quite hit the spot. Being the third person out of three adults and two kids, you'd think the place was packed, but the service was slow. I stood at the hostess stand, and a waiter kept telling her someone was waiting, while my waitress couldn't remember my drink order. American diners are a treat for travelers, especially those who are up late or heading to work early, serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner no matter the time. Metro Diner seemed to fit the bill. I ordered the 2-egg breakfast plate at 3 p.m. My complete order was 2 eggs over medium, toast, hash browns, and bacon. It's my usual order at another diner closer to home. I'll say my local diner sometimes struggles with the over-medium eggs, undercooking them but they're never served them to me as scrambled. After waiting a while, it was nice to see the bacon and hash browns cooked perfectly, but served cold. Another oddity here was that every diners needed to ask for utensils. I wouldn't say my local Waffle House is the perfect example of a greasy spoon, but it's definitely the bare minimum of a diner one should aim for. Diners should be friendly and welcoming, no matter where you are or what time of day it is, with food served hot and fast. Having to drive past Waffle House, IHOP, and a bunch of other places, I'd say don't miss out on a good meal - pull into one of them instead!

This is an amazing restaurant hidden in a strip mall. First let me address the amazing sweet southern girls that are working as servers. Polite, sweet, helpful and carrying about the experience. Now on to the food which everyone wants to know about. For the appetizer we shared a plate of Poutine this is a twist on the classic style and it does work very well with a great gravy with perfectly seasoned fries and the twist deep fried cheese curds... I know it is different but it works. The Main Course we shared a 3 piece fried Chicken dinner with green beans and red mashed potatoes. The Chicken was seasoned perfectly and juicy so very juicy... the mashed red taters with brown gravy something you find only in the south. Green beans were steamed the supervisor loved them. Team member got a breakfast plate here comments this is very good. Last but not least the burger bowl he said this is the best bowl ever. Needless to say the bowl was gone in a matter of minutes. Highly recomend stopping in a strip mall to enjoy a classic style diner.

The service here was excellent. The food was tasty. I just wish they had cooked my hash browns crispy like I ordered. Other than that small thing it was a perfect meal.

The food was super good and in very great condition too. The comfortableness inside is great to have a meal alone, with a group, or even to sit and work on your laptop if needed. Even though that was all great the thing I always desire the most is Service and the service here was seriously perfect. My server was super nice and super perfect as she served me and she even kindly spoke with me. This was a great place.

Came by last night for dinner. Eric was our server. He was super friendly, always fun to talk to. He recommended the pot roast which was a special. So glad for the recommendation. It was so good!! I would definitely get it again. Portion size was big. Enjoying again for lunch today! Love Metro Diner!! I'll be back!!

Great BLT... you can add extra bacon. Good food. The one in Trussville is like WalMart.. jammed packed. I did pickup and it was great.

We arrived fairly early, shortly after opening, but the place was already bustling and the hot bar was full of yummy-looking and smelling food. It has a pleasant, sort of old-timey feel, which makes sense given it's been open since the 70s. This is a "Greek and three," fairly common in Bham, so they offer country cooking favorites like fried chicken in addition to Greek foods like souvlaki. You order as you move through the line in front of the hot bar. The food is protected from guests by glass so it doesn't feel as icky as a buffet does (to me, at least). The folks working the hot bar were pleasant and working diligently. There was one waitress who was suuuuper bossy and a little short with me (she really didn't want me to stand still and look at a paper menu, apparently), but she eventually warmed to us after my dad chatted her up while she was getting our drinks. I ordered fried chicken with yams and fried okra. My mom also got fried chicken, hers with mashed potatoes and cabbage. My dad tried the baked Greek chicken with green beans and macaroni and cheese. I snagged a roll and a sweet tea to drink. The tea was refreshing and not overly sweet. The food was overwhelmingly quite solid. My fried chicken breast wasn't ready when I ordered it so I had to wait a while for it to be prepared, but on the bright side it arrived piping hot and super crispy. It was great fried chicken, clearly brined and flavorful throughout, not just on the crunchy batter. The yams were nicely spiced and not overly soft. The fried okra was a delight as well, crispy and plentiful. The roll was average, but nbd. My parents were also quite happy with their meals. My mom RAVED about the cabbage and ate all her mashed potatoes and gravy. The macaroni and cheese was outstanding (I wish I'd gotten three sides and it been my third). The Greek chicken was succulent and light. The only so-so item was the green beans, and even those were decent. Definitely worth a visit if you're in Birmingham! One of the better meat and twos/threes I've had in a while.

In addition to this, the staff is friendly and pretty flexible on accommodations. I visited on a Wednesday morning, and there were about 7 other tables filled. In the past, when I went on a weekend, I usually had to wait around 15-20 minutes for a table, so if you are able to, I recommend visiting on a weekday. Today I got the vegan sausage, eggs, and pancake combination. It came with two eggs, two pieces of sausage, and three pancakes, which was plenty of food. I ended up bringing home my leftover pancakes, and they heated up quite nicely in the microwave when I ate them later. They also provide ramekins for different sauces and syrups if you want to bring any home, which was very nice. Our server was very kind and proactive at refilling water, checking on us, and getting the check to us quickly, especially because he knew that we had to leave relatively quickly. The decor is bright and fun, though it didn't quite seem to match the style of food being served. Just my personal observation. They also have a robot that helps deliver the food alongside the servers, which felt a little unexpected for the casual atmosphere and southern comfort food vibe. They were fairly busy since it was lunchtime on a Friday, but the wait really wasn't bad at all. Would I go back? Yes. Was it my absolute favorite? No. But there were definitely things I enjoyed, especially that sweet potato cake that nearly made me consider ordering dessert first next time.

Harvest was one of the best dining experiences I had in Birmingham. One thing worth mentioning…read moreright away is that it's located inside the historic Redmont Hotel. That wasn't immediately obvious from many of the reviews I read beforehand, so don't let the hotel location deter you--this is a destination restaurant in its own right. I ordered the braised short rib (without the grits), and it was outstanding. The meat was incredibly tender, packed with flavor, and cooked to perfection. It easily ranks among the better short rib dishes I've had. The service was equally impressive. Everyone was friendly, attentive, and struck the perfect balance of being available without hovering. The dining room has an upscale yet comfortable atmosphere that makes it just as suitable for a business dinner as it is for a date night or special occasion. If you're visiting downtown Birmingham--or staying at the Redmont--don't overlook Harvest just because it's inside a hotel. It's proof that hotel restaurants can absolutely compete with the city's standalone dining scene. I'll definitely be back the next time I'm in Birmingham.

I've always seen this place in passing, but was never able to make it there because they're only open from 7am-3pm. I'm honestly had a burger in mind because most lunch spots serve burgers. I only had an hour for lunch and this was the closest spot. When I walked in the owner and workers were making the announcement that because it Jury Monday they only had grilled beef hotdogs available. In the combo you get 2 beef grilled hotdogs and chips for $6.60. I was very hesitant because they already had the hotdogs wrapped in foil sitting by the register. I knew then it would be a hit or miss. I was hungry and decided to go with this meal. She asked did in need condiments and I said yes. I asked for ketchup, mustard, relish, and sour kraut . I look in my bag to find 2 packs of ketchup and mustard and a small container of relish and kraut. I'm a ketchup person and one little pack per hotdog wasn't it. Also I asked for plan chips and was given bbq. The food itself was underwhelming. How can you go wrong with. Hotdog?? I ate it because I new I would be sitting for a couple of more hours. If I ever have jury duty I will definitely pack my lunch....this was a waste of $6.60.

My Mufuletta, panini with ham, salami, Swiss cheese, olive salad cooked into a bread with a side of fries (under$12) made me happy and sad. I was happy to be able to experience this gastronomic wonder, yet at the same time, I was sad that everyone I know and love wasn't able to share the experience with me. The next best thing to me treating you to a lunch at the Scenic View Diner, would be for you to drop in on them sometime and enjoy some food that is prepared and served with love. The owner, the chef and all of the staff make me feel like I am family every time I have lunch there. They make certain that their restaurant meets the needs of the community. In case you don't know, visits to courthouses can be stressful for any number of purposes , and the diner sells a variety of snacks and headache, remedies, stuffed animals for newly adopted or newly placed children, and even items if you need to take someone a razor or toothbrush. I could say a lot more because I like their products and services and mission, plus I am convinced it is owned and operated by wonderful people.

Current Charcoal Grill is…read morethe first restaurant I've been to in years that still understands and executes on everything that makes eating out enjoyable. The service is *excellent* with a capital "E." We ate at the bar, and the staff were friendly, attentive, and extremely knowledgeable about every single aspect of the restaurant. They have tried everything on the menu themselves. They can describe any one of the imported liquors up on the wall. These are real deal professionals who illustrate just how important the people in a restaurant's front truly are. The food? Delicious. It's a wild grab bag of East Asian fare - Chinese, Japanese, Thai - and it's all done extremely well. The portions are small, which is good, since you'll want to try half a dozen things on Current's very deliberately thought-out menu. The Peking Duck is some of the best I've had. The cocktails are also excellent, with my favorite being a delicious, earthy combination of coconut, lime, and pandan. It's like an extremely upscale tiki drink. I cannot recommend this place enough. Absolutely perfect. 5 stars.

High ceilings and exposed brick are a few of the ways to my heart. If you've seen a post about this place, you've probably seen a picture of the crackly round, artistic dish and wondered what it was. There are dumplings on the underside of it and you break each one off of the crackly part to enjoy. We did enjoy these but I would've loved a soy sauce to dip them in. They came with chili crunch, peanuts, and green onions but I wanted an actual sauce. They were very standard tasting dumplings and there was nothing extraordinary about them unfortunately. As always, we'd looked at the menu beforehand and decided what we wanted. It does state on their website that their menus can change due to freshness and availability. But we'd both decided on an app and entree we wanted only to get there and have none of them on the menu. I do appreciate a rotating menu to accommodate local items, but I would also love for those to be updated on a regular basis. So after rerouting, we decided on the chicken skewers as another app with the dumplings. These were chargrilled, flavorful, and had a nice crust on them. I got shrimp fried rice and Julia got spicy beef noodles. It was fine but I wish the shrimp wouldn't have been cut up. It felt like they chopped them up in order to not put as many in the dish. At $25 for this, I'd like whole shrimp please. There were a few pieces of raw spinach with pepper on the top. I would've loved a sauce of some kind. I would've preferred shrimp hibachi with fried rice from a Japanese place that included vegetables and sauces. This was not *bad* there was just SO much room for improvement. We both agreed that nothing was awful, but for these prices and the hype, we expected more. Our waitress was super friendly. Bonus points because they had match boxes at the host stand! There was a paid parking lot diagonal from the restaurant, so we had to walk through an intersection to get there. There are some spots up front if you can snag one. Overall, we enjoyed our time here but won't be sprinting back.

The started of with bread from the Birmingham Bread works with a goat cheese and butter spread, then came a amuse-bouche that was BLT, a cherry tomato with a basil cream, topped with a piece of ham and balsamic dressing. I ordered the smoked grilled ribeye stake topped with a black garlic compound butter and veal sauce, with rosemary infused scallop potatoes, Brussels sprouts and to top it all off a passionfruit crème brûlée. It might have been the slowest dinner I ever had in my life. I had a 7:00 PM reservation and I arrived early and sat down at 6:50. After being greeted and ordering wine I placed an order of the pork belly appetizer at 7:05. The pork belly appetizer came out at 8:00, 55 minutes after ordering. I placed the entree order at 7:30 and it came out at 8:30. There were only 3 other tables in the restaurant. Two three tops and a two top so not even large tables. Why on earth is it taking an hour to get out an order. I have my credit card at 8:50 and got it back at 9:15. 25 minutes to charge a card? I mean I guess you can get busy but the 4 tables here had 3 people helping with them. At no point when the server came by my table did I ever say I needed another minute. So, a 2.5+ hour dinner as a single diner was ridiculous, especially considering they were not busy. The food here was truly incredible, some of the best I've had anywhere I've traveled. I absolutely loved it. You can tell they source fresh, local ingredients daily, and that commitment clearly shines through in the quality of every dish. I started with the pork belly appetizer, which was outstanding. The cut had the perfect balance of meat and fat, expertly cooked with the fat beautifully rendered. The flavors were exceptional as well, finished with a maple glaze and paired with a sweet potato cornbread that was completely unique and memorable. For my main course, I ordered the smoked ribeye, and it was flawless. The quality was top-tier, with gorgeous marbling that truly reflected a prime cut. The smoke flavor was perfectly balanced--present but never overpowering. It had a beautiful crust, was expertly seasoned, and cooked to an ideal temperature. It honestly could not have been better. They also offered a few amuse-bouches that were equally impressive. A single bite of cherry tomato with lamb bacon was one of the best bites I've ever had. To finish, I was served a watermelon and muscadine sorbet with a St-Germain finish, an incredibly thoughtful and skillful dessert. There is an immense amount of talent in this kitchen. You will never be disappointed by the food here. My experience seemed to be overshadowed by the slow service and near the end I was so ready to just leave. However I might consider returning just for the food.
