There was a bit of a wait before my order was taken, but honestly, it worked out in my favor because it gave me plenty of time to look over the menu. There were so many tempting options that it was honestly hard to decide! I ultimately chose three items and enjoyed a few bites of each. Ham & Fontina Scone: This was my first time trying a scone, and I was pleasantly surprised. The texture reminded me of a dry biscuit, but the ham added a delicious savory flavor that I really enjoyed. Frittata Plate: The frittata was SO good! It wasn't too dry, and all of the flavors worked really well together. It was served with polenta, which reminded me of really fine grits, along with fruit. After trying it, I realized that one entrée would definitely be enough for me to enjoy on its own. Breakfast 'ZA: This was essentially a breakfast pizza topped with a fried egg, and the egg was such a nice touch. The 'ZA itself was really good, although I think adding something similar to a gravy or sauce would make it a little less dry. Even without it, though, the fried egg really took it to another level. Brown Sugar Shaken Espresso: I decided to try the Brown Sugar Shaken Espresso, which was the barista's pick. This was my first time having a shaken espresso, and I'm so glad I gave it a try! It was refreshing and perfect for a hot day. The inside of Trattoria ZaZa is nice, although it is somewhat small, so I opted to sit outside. It was a very warm day, but the awning provided plenty of shade and made the outdoor seating comfortable. I also appreciated that, even though the restaurant doesn't have traditional table service, someone periodically checked on me to make sure I didn't need anything else. Overall, I had a great brunch experience at Trattoria ZaZa. There were plenty of menu options, the food was flavorful, and I really enjoyed trying a few things that were new to me. I'd definitely be open to coming back and trying more of the menu!

The store is a downtown casual vibe. We probably should've opted for outdoor seating, because the evening was so nice.

Depending on the vibe one is looking for, that can be a good or a bad thing. Basically, this is where you come if you don't want to be bothered. As a whole, a wonderful spot to enjoy one of their signature Espresso blends.

I can say he seemed apologetic but I think it was an error on his part, not the computer. After all, he had already mentioned how "busy" he was. And I've never known a sunny, cloudless day to mess with computers. He typed our order in again and this time, the food was out within 15 minutes. The beignets were the best part of the meal. The breakfast sandwich (on sourdough) was hard and dry. The potatoes looked unappealing and lacked salt. My guy remarked his food was ok but commented on how "used" the butter looked. See included picture. The server checked on us periodically. We are not complainers so no we didn't mention any of this to the server. After requesting a box for the leftovers and the check, it was another 15-20 minutes before we saw either, even though he came around twice more and repeated what we had asked him for. We did leave a tip although this was one of the poorest experiences we've had in ages. We will not return anytime soon to this location.

Let me start off by saying that the food here was AWESOME! That's why there are stars. So we arrived at 5:00 and had a group of 4. The hostess greeted us asking "So is it just the 4 of you?" She seemed new and may have greeted us beforehand so I did not think anything of it. We then asked if we could sit outside because it was a bit chilly inside the restaurant. The hostess looked at this guy that seemed to be the manager and asked if we could sit on the patio. His response was "Yeah they can if they want, it's just hot outside." And it sounded like he was saying it as a "what's wrong with them." We were seated and the waitress got our drink orders. We ordered our food and waited. They brought the food out and 30 seconds after our food was put on the table, our waitress asked us if we needed boxes. We all just looked at each other because we haven't even had time to taste our food. So 2 minutes later, she brought some boxes and put them on the table next to us and said "no rush!" At this point we were all annoyed because it seemed like we were being rushed. Then a minute later she asked how many checks we were going to be on, we told her, and then she brought the check out and said "no rush!" My brother in law wanted to order a different meal because he was not satisfied with the huevos rancheros. So she put in the order and didn't ask if it was to go or if he wanted to eat it. She brought the order out in a to go box and we had to tell her that he wanted to eat it here. So she brings the box over and said "do you want me to bring another plate?" And we were like uh yes. Did she expect him to eat it out of the box? So we were pretty annoyed because the restaurant was not even busy so we were trying to figure out why we were being rushed. I was born and raised in Bham, lived there for 35 yrs until I married so I was looking forward to seeing what new places my hometown has now. One of my girlfriends picked this place in advance before we made it to Bham and we saw the location while grabbing dinner Friday night once we all arrived. She was very excited to try Slide Cafe. She also lived in Bham for years while attending school so it was nice for us to see new places to try. Once we arrived the hostess (JB) explained the process to us and we were seated. I ordered a Coke Zero. The hostess brought everyone drinks to the table and I noticed I didn't have a Coke Zero but a Diet Coke and every drink except the coffee was bottled. Coke Zero and Diet Coke are not the same but no problem. Just inform the buyer what they're paying for in case they rather choose something different. While the hostess is delivering our drinks + (1) coffee...he's holding the tray incorrectly, he leans with the coffee still on the tray, and the coffee falls, the lid comes off, and coffee is spilling continuously. It's now burning the hostess leg running into his socks and shoes but it's also spilling into my friend's purse that was positioned in the chair the hostess was standing over. Hot Coffee has filled her purse, ruined everything inside including her Air Pods, her wallet, and everything else inside. Here's where I become appalled....No one came to discuss this matter until 30 minutes after the incident. It was an awful feeling. We waited and waited and it only made the (4) of us more and more upset. We had not gotten our food yet because this happened as soon as we sat down, only our drinks were served. By the time the Co-Owner decided to come over, it was pointless. She showed little to no concern about how she would correct the incident nor did she show compassion to a woman just like herself. They decided to pay for her food. We wouldn't be there if we couldn't afford our food! She offered to clean her purse but did not think her air pods were damaged or her purse should be replaced. The coffee had so many grinds at the bottom of the cup as if it was the last of the coffee poured and it was also all over her things inside the purse. This experience was awful for all of us. The way we were treated is what made the incident 10 times worse. Had someone walked over to us immediately to help us understand the incident was NOT her fault and apologize on behalf of what happened and showed sensitivity to a woman who just had her things ruined, I would have shared a great experience in spite of what happened but that is not the outcome. I lived in Bham for 35 yrs and I watched places open and close often. If this management doesn't understand that this is not how you treat customers then this too will be another place that opened and closed. If I ever visit Bham again, I will never visit Slide Cafe! BTW, my Salmon was very dry. Salad was nice but after such as awful experience, none of us could enjoy our food even if it was good or bad.

I walked in and sat down and was greeted quickly and brought a menu. I got 2 eggs + sausage + hash browns and a coffee and it was all very very good. Only one person in line, restaurant was basically empty. Looked at menu and noticed meat and 2 was over$14.00. We decided maybe it was not the place for us, so we quietly left and went to Alpha Charlie's out by the airport which turned out to be a great experience. I've been to File's in years past and did not remember the place to be so dark and drab. Feel like this places days are numbered. Sure miss the Social Grill for the ones of you that are old enough to remember that place.

Had my taste buds ready for bbq chicken but settled for fried white meat chicken. It was crispy and tasted good to me. Had greens and yams. Price was under $15 with tax. They kept replenishing the food. The line moved fast. Inside the was basic diner atmosphere.
