This place is amazing!!!! There is something for everyone on the menu. The service was nothing short of excellent. And I've been there on average, two times a month since they have been open. They are consistent with service. I am led to believe that everything on the menu is great. The steak, AMAZING!!!! Very tender and juicy. The chicken and waffles, with the strawberry butter, has the taste of heaven. And my favorite thing on the menu is the breakfast pizza. I am truly convinced the Angels came up with the recipe to this masterpiece. It's freaking DELICIOUS!!! It was very busy when we arrived around 1030am, we put our name in and were told 10-15 minutes which seemed like it was pushing it with the amount of people waiting. We were seated within 6 minutes. Went in for a quick bite to eat, well nothing was quick about it. Took 25 minutes to get a cup of chicken noodle soup, which was the worst cup of soup. broth wasn't a normal taste and the chicken chunks were hard. we asked for it to come out before our meal and 2 minutes later our burger toast and home fries came out. the home fries looked burnt but were not crunchy and had no taste to them. Other than the friendly face that greeted us at the door this morning (one star for her and her only!), I just had the worst customer service here. They were busy on a Saturday morning, which I completely understand. We put our name in and were told it would be at least 20 minutes. Because we've been here before and had a great experience, we decided to wait. The waiting area in the lobby had people squished sitting butt to butt and the standing area was extremely crowded as well. I'm 7 months pregnant with a toddler, and it being cold outside, we decided to wait outside in the car. We told the guy in the front, who looked incredibly overwhelmed and came back in 15 minutes. The same guy told us they had long ago called our name and made no effort to get us seated. He had an attitude with my husband, as if we were causing him an inconvenience by not coming when he called. Basically, we were SOL. Because of his demeanor towards this situation, we opted to leave. I'm really disappointed because we have had such good service here in the past but I don't know that this will be my go-to breakfast place anymore. read more

My sister and I had been wanting to try this restaurant for awhile, and I am so glad we did. It was pretty busy, but we were seated quickly, and the service was wonderful. We had a great waitress, and from what I could tell the entire staff was awesome. I got the tenderloin, and it was probably the best I've had. When I think of tenderloins, I think of basic toppings on a bun, but this had aoli, wilted spinach, carmelized onions, and fried jalapeños--among other toppings-- and served on toasted bread. It was amazing, and the tenderloin itself was delicious. I got the fries, and they did not need any salt. They were already seasoned well. Some other highlights of the restaurant were their side options (macaroni and cheese and pasta salad are what I need to try next time), different flavored coffees, and a variety of drink options. Was hoping that 3rd time was a charm, alas it was not. Went the first time the first week they were open, I knew that they weren't all settled in yet so didn't expect too much. Went the 2nd time for breakfast a couple months after opening and the food was just ok, nothing exceptional and it seems as if they overcook things (chicken, toast, pancakes) but it wasn't so bad that we didn't think that we would try again. Went for the 3rd time this week at lunch time with the family and it definitely wasn't a charm, chicken was overcooked, waffles overcooked, toast overcooked. I typically like things crispy and well done, but when the toast is almost black that is too much. We didn't complain to our server, her facial expression (or lack there of) wasn't inviting at all and said she really didn't care one way or the other. After looking around at the other servers working, they had either had a very hard day already (this was a week day around 115pm) or they really weren't that in to it. My husband, our adult kids and our guests all left unimpressed and will mark this off of our list of "go to places", which is unfortunate because it is so handy for us due to the location to our home and work. read more

My boyfriend and I came here on July 4th, deciding to forgo our normal haunts and try something new. This place did NOT disappoint! They were incredibly busy for it being a holiday, but we waited no more than 10 minutes before getting a seat (they do have a counter you can sit at, we just preferred our own table). The food is straight up classic diner food, but so good. I ordered Gram D's fish sandwich, which comes fried, grilled, or blackened. I got it blackened and the seasoning was so good. It was also huge, you definitely get more than you pay for! I chose onion rings as my side and these were pretty standard - not the best I've ever had, but decent. My boyfriend's burger though... If you want to go all out here, get the Vortex burger. It's a bacon cheeseburger between two grilled cheese sandwiches. You can also add an egg cooked to your preference, which he did not. But man was it delicious! The next time I really want to go all out and blow my calories in one meal, I'm getting that. I mean, it was mounds of bacon and a huge beef patty with two classic grilled cheese sandwiches as the ends. You can't go wrong! He also got a mountain of fries as his side. The prices are very reasonable for the amount of food you get. Service was really good - for it being as busy as it was, we didn't wait very long for our food. Also, when we were first seated, another waitress took our drink order and made a point to tell us that our waitress was busy wrapping up a large party and they didn't want to make us wait. I really appreciated that - we weren't left to wonder where our waitress was. Met friends here yesterday. First time here. I ordered Yo Hala on the Square because it read fun and interesting. Waitress said it was a lot and I would be asking for a to go box. It came, two ordinary pieces of toast dipped in egg and syrup batter and grilled with a dab of butter on the side! I looked at her questionably, she volunteered this was the yo hala! Never saw a picture until I went on website this morning. Menu said it was French toast stuffed with cream cheese, bananas, brown sugar, which I never tasted. No strawberry/blueberry compote. don't go expecting traditional. they'll do it, but the as is comes all fancied up. the tenderloin is as good as it gets, then for me they ruin it with spinach and bacon. that being said 3 of our 6 loved the tenderloin. The burger was fairly bland so they smother it in toppings. I like a traditional burger and it's hard to find one that will stand on it's own (like bub's in carmel, eg). What a good spot! I had never heard of Metro until my parents told me about it. I really didn't know what to expect, but I am so glad we chose to go there and will definitely be returning. The place is much bigger inside than it looks on the outside. My favorite thing was finding out that everything on the menu (including breakfast!!) is available all day. Our waitress was friendly and knowledgeable. We were all a little overwhelmed with the menu because it is so large, but I like having variety. I chose biscuits and gravy and they were great. The only thing I didn't care for was the scrambled eggs, but the portions were so large that I didn't feel like I was missing out. We were all blown away by the portion sizes! This place is nothing more than an IHOP. They are known for their 12 minute ticket times and it is because the food comes out wrong. We had a party of 4 and all of our entrees came out 1 to 2 minutes apart. I had told the server that I was allergic to shell fish and asked if the shrimp and other foods were cooked on separate stoves and she replied yes. However, when I came home I was so sick I had to stay in the bathroom almost all night. Everything is either too salty or not seasoned there is no happy medium. The tables are really close together and there's not a lot of room or a high chair, sling, or wheelchair. My family will definitely not be returning. read more

Even tho busy my server, Jo, was unhurried and engaged. I was on my own and sat at the counter which is open to the kitchen. The kitchen was crammed with cooks all busy at their stations and yet taking time to speak with patrons and offering suggestions. I ordered a blackboard special of fish and chips. My plate came quickly with 4 filets of lightly breaded white fish, skin on fries and slaw for $9.99. My counter neighbors had the monte crisco and corned beef sandwich. Went to lunch today at the Metro Diner. First time visit and quite possibly my last. Service was excellent, food was average. I had the "special" which was the shrimp po boy. ( fried). Sandwich was lukewarm and dry. The number of shrimp and size was good but it really lacked sauce, or something. The sandwich was bread and shrimp that's it basically. Terrible sandwich, without a doubt one of the worst sandwiched I've ever had. This is no joke Wife had the meatloaf which she enjoyed ( but didn't rave about) and upon sampling I thought it also lacked something, like maybe quality beef and ingredients?
