Lunch duo chicken & waffles and brunch jambalaya
    Kimberly T.

The Lunch duo is a still at 10.99 and is offered all day. I sat at the bar and was served by esther who was delightful. I was here for breakfast and ordered 1/2 chicken & waffles and the cup of brunch jambalaya. The waffle was Belgian style, light and airy. The chicken tenders were slightly under seasoned, lightly battered and crisp. The brunch jambalaya was delicious. It was seasoned with the perfect combination of shrimp, sausage, and crawfsh. It was served with an over easy egg on top which I'm not usually a fan of but it worked out great on this dish.

This has been in Indy for a while and has some good brunch/breakfast options. I had a pretty good experience but my brother not so much. They messed up his rode a few times and still charged him he was pretty laid back about it so didn't cause a fuss. It has a cute outdoors area if you want to be covered outdoors.

The ambiance is cute and airy. We were seated right away at 10:30 am on a Sunday but it got really busy after we sat down. Our server was Chloe and while she was super busy, she was great and attentive to everyone's tables. I had their seasonal Louisiana Quiche with grits and house blend coffee. The quiche was huge for 1 person and I ate it for 3 meals total. The grits are amazing, and you can fancy them up by getting the "city grits" if you want. Plain with butter and Splenda worked great for me. The quiche was very good, not spicy but very flavorful. I would get it again. Husband had the B&G with scrambled eggs and bacon. He really liked the Biscuits and Gravy and he's picky. All in all, good breakfast for less than $50 for 2 people with tip.

Great Brunch spot ! There is about a 30 minute wait on the weekend. I recommend getting the waitlist online prior to coming. They do not accept reservations. The manager got us seated quickly when our table became available and offered a free order of Biscuit Beignets since it was our first time here. The waiter was attentive, the mimosas was good and strong. We had strawberry & blueberry which was $12.30 a piece. They also offer a pitcher for $33. The lemon pound cake was soooo delicious. It is a bit rich. The bacon was so good. The beignets was a bit doughy in the middle but they were tasty. Overall it was great and we were able to discuss our book without being rushed out. I wish they offer a half size of shrimp and grits but I guess I just have to go back to try it.

Went in for brunch on the weekend and it was a surprisingly light crowd which we did not mind since there was no wait. Server was very pleasant and once we gave her the order we had our order in about 10 minutes or so. Excellent turnaround. Went for my birthday pancakes and wife got the Crab Benedict. I chose the Bourbon Street Pancakes and they were awesome. Have to try making this myself. The bananas with caramel rum sauce and fresh whipped cream (that's definitely not Reddi-whip.) all came together so well. The crab Benedict was also tasty with Jumbo lump crab. Has a little bit of kick to it but not like a 5 alarm fire or anything. Parking is also free and easy with the large lot. Highly recommend it

Great experience, I sat on the patio yesterday underneath the onning so the sun wasn't beating down on me & it was lovely. Unlike other restaurants I've notice ABEC keeps theirs tidy (no bird droppings need to be wiped off after having already seated guests there) which is big to me. Our waitress was lovely & very knowledgeable of the menu as well as attentive with water refills even though my drink of 1st choice were the mimosas ( which are 1/2 off for happy hour). It was a great experience. The food was perfectly seasoned & proportioned! I'll be returning for sure cheers to Indy having happy hour again!

This placed is tucked into a small mall but an absolute find! The atmosphere upon entering was warm and inviting. Our server, Elise was awesome and helped with first time customers! Food was great with refreshing new menu ideas !! Would come again in an instant!

Last minute decision turned out to be the best one . Never been here before but heard about it and they were busy but we were seated promptly. This place has a diner feel and our waitress was extremely pleasant and gave us great suggestions. I had the Lobster omelet with the bacon grits. Sheeesh...talk about delicious . We also had the kids sampler and poached eggs with grits. The food is an an amazing experience and definitely bring your appetite. Well worth every penny. I'll be back again.

This place is absolutely delicious. We have Michaela as our server and she is such a sweetheart! I ordered the shrimp and grits with the city grits, which is more of a cheesy grit and oh my goodness it was so delicious. They have half off mimosas every day from 12 PM to 2 PM and we were able to the mimosa action! Before the mimosas, we did order a cup of coffee. They have a Colombian blend for their coffee and I got 2 cups, which is abnormal for me at a restaurant. I cannot wait to come back! They have seating indoor and outdoor. It was very clean inside the restaurant. They also have a bar area. Parking is right outside the door.

This is a great brunch spot because it offers so many unique dishes and drinks! All of their seasonal items sound delicious, from apricot French toast to a shrimp and grits eggs Benedict. They offer a variety of brunch drinks as well, from classic mimosas to spiked cold brews. Everyone at the table can get something different, but for a side, I do recommend their breakfast potatoes, which are perfectly seasoned and crispy. If you come on the weekend, I advise making a recommendation or coming early as it does become packed. The service is always efficient though! I'm not big on breakfast, but the novelty of the dishes here drew me in.

Another full belly day at Another Broken Egg. Excellent sides. They make their own sausage--yummy!! I also love that all caloric nutrients and numbers for every entree and sides are listed. This really helps me aim toward healthier eating! Large parking lot out front, easy to find a spot. Thank you!!

Service: 2/5 Server had the audacity to ask me if I was ready to order after 15 minutes of waiting around. Who was the waiter? Me or her? I couldn't tell you. It seems that she didn't know if it was her or an other server that was supposed to serve me. When my order came out she checked up on me twice which is good, but I shouldn't have to lose 15 minutes of my time looking around wondering if anyone sees me. Food: 3/5 Food was mediocre. I got a side of fruit and a side of pancakes. Nothing too fancy, pretty basic. Fruit tasted funny, like it was marinated in celery juice before it came out... pancakes should come with fresh butter and powdered sugar. Butter in plastic packets is not it. Smores cold brew drink was amazing! I don't even like cold brew but it was dessert in a drink. Had a chocolate and cookie rim, delicious! Ambiance: 3/5 cozy. simple.

I ordered the A La Crossing Benedict, side of gravy, lefse, side Norwegian potato cake, and peach ginger hot tea. I was thrilled to find the hot tea was loose leaf in a pot brought to the table. It's a lovely touch. The Benedict had perfectly crispy bacon and so much asparagus. The egg yolks were perfectly runny and the hollandaise had great flavor. I picked the house salad with champagne vinaigrette for the side and enjoyed that as well. I tried the gravy on some of the sourdough bread and it had a great flavor. The biscuits and gravy will probably be something I order next time because it was so good. When I read they season their sausage in-house I knew I had to try it even though I wanted the Benedict. The Norwegian Potato Cake was a delight! I love every take on a potato pancake or latke and this one had great flavor. The Lefse was a perfect treat to end- I had the traditional with just butter, sugar, and cinnamon. (I had leftovers of this and ate it at home with extra butter and a little syrup also.) I had heard firsthand that this cafe is dope, and I had read reviews that this cafe is dope, and I finally got to visit it myself today. You know what? For a hospital cafe, this place is pretty dope. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. I peeped what they had for breakfast: they have a "breakfast station" where you can scoop out your own breakfast foods onto a plate. Each item is a different price. For instance, scrambled eggs and breakfast potatoes are $1.29 per scoop, bacon is $0.89 per strip, biscuits are $1.09 per biscuit. Then you take your plate to the register, and you pay for all of your scoops and slices and individual things. Lunch begins at 11 a.m., at which time the deli counter opens, and you can get a made-to-order sandwich, panini or wrap. There is also a pizza station; a grill station with things like hot dogs (only $1.99!), cheeseburgers and potato wedges; and an entree station, where they have a special meal every day. On the day that I visited, it was salisbury steak. If you don't like any of those offerings, there's also a grab-and-go refrigerated area with food like parfaits, hard-boiled eggs, sushi, and microwavable meals like arroz con pollo, of all things. Carmel doesn't know how to be anything other than Carmel, and it shows in this hospital cafe. I shuffled into the cafe right when they changed over from breakfast to lunch, so I got a turkey sandwich on wheat bread. Sandwiches are served dry, no sauces, but there's a condiment area with mayonnaise and mustard (and ketchup, but why?). I don't know if it was because I was starving, but my turkey sandwich was great. It also cost $4.49! What in the every loving heck. Where can you get a hearty sandwich packed with multiple slices of turkey, tomato, red onion and lettuce for less than five bucks? And all of the condiments that you want, waiting for you at the condiment station! Whatta deal. The great prices at La Verna Cafe could account for the old timers I saw posted up at a big table in the cafe. They were all hanging out, enjoying food and coffee, but they didn't look like they were patients or waiting for a patient. They were there for a good couple of hours. I'm thinking they probably discovered a secret: La Verna Cafe is the place to visit if you want great food at an amazing price. I suppose it's also a cafe that you visit if you're at the hospital, too.

Over the past year or two, I've slowly faded out my visits to a certain popular coffee establishment with a name shared by a character on Battlestar Galactica. So, when a friend told me about The Haverstick, I needed to check it out! I'm so glad I did. It has become my go-to office of choice! Housed in a community center of a local church, the environment has dim lighting and soft music. A perfect place to get focused and stay focused. They have a coffee bar that also offers a few food options. The coffee is good and very affordable. The staff is always friendly. There is usually only one person staffing the coffee shop, but they get to your order quickly. You just may have to wait if there is a large group, as happened to me once. But no worries. Simply have a seat and get to work, and they will call your name when your beverage and/or food is ready to pickup. The Haverstick is less a coffee shop and more a community shared-space work environment that offers coffee. They have a lot of comfortable chairs and tables of various sizes. The room is wide open and you never feel crowded, even if there is a decent amount of people. However, it's usually only a handful of other people around, so it's a great place to get things done. They also have conference rooms for rent. I'm grateful this church has opened its doors to the public and offers such a wonderful and inviting atmosphere. I look forward to returning soon and getting some more work done.

The hash browns were a nice golden brown, tasty, and very good around the edges but soft in the middle. I understand why some might order them extra crispy, which I would do next time. The hot sauce was indeed delicious and the sever mentioned that it was available for sale, only $5.99. Deal! I liked my food and loved the hot sauce, which perfectly complimented both the eggs and hash browns. I would return to try some of the other menu items. I also ordered cinnamon toast.

It was perfect for staying inside somewhere warm and dry, spending time with loved ones. We had a fantastic time laughing and talking. The morning was made even better by the excellent service Brittany provided. The food was delicious, and the service was outstanding. Grateful to the Uptown team for a memorable fall morning breakfast.

It was served warm and very fresh, with delicious cream cheese frosting. I ordered the Signature Egg Tart, and it was wonderful. It was rich and almost quiche-like, filled with lots of roasted vegetables, and the bright, acidic sauce balanced it really well. I honestly wouldn't have changed anything except maybe adding a little salt, but that may just be personal preference. I also enjoyed a cold brew while we sat out on the patio. The only downside was the construction noise from the large apartment buildings going up around the patio. That is obviously not the restaurant's fault, but it is something to be aware of if you're planning to sit outside right now. Overall, great food, kind service, and a really thoughtful birthday touch. We would definitely go back!

Rize truly stands out for its commitment to local partnerships, sourcing fresh ingredients from nearby growers, and you can absolutely taste the difference. Everything felt fresh, thoughtful, and well-executed. The space is clean, bright, and nicely decorated. Coffee was strong and flavorful (just how I like it). The salad that came with the omelet was next-level, with a light, citrusy dressing that balanced everything perfectly. The waffles were incredibly airy, soft, fluffy, and melt-in-your-mouth good.... And wow, the bacon was so good we ended up ordering another side. Despite the restaurant being packed, service was friendly, efficient, and never felt rushed. Food came out quickly, and the staff kept everything running smoothly. A great spot for breakfast or brunch, definitely worth supporting a local business that also supports its community partners. One being how they consistently roll out new monthly specials - they're always creative, and the names and descriptions are so much fun. Plus, their specials tie into whatever's locally happening at the time, whether it's Pride Month, Oktoberfest, or anything in between. I tried the summer za' which is a pizza with tomato, corn, zucchini, sausage, red onion, and cheese. Super tasty! And for my mocktail lovers, try the watermelon mint refresher. I'm obsessed!

The Brussels sprouts are an absolute triumph: perfectly blistered with a caramelized exterior and tender interior, dressed in a harmonious balance of bright acidity and savory depth. Little crunchy bits and a subtle smoky char add texture, while a finishing sprinkle (and a hint of something sweet-salty) elevates them from simple side to a show-stealer. The Korean salmon is equally impressive. The fish arrives flaky and moist with a richly glazed crust that carries sweet, spicy, and umami notes in perfect proportion. Layers of flavor -- gochujang-forward heat, sesame brightness, and a touch of citrus -- play against the salmon's natural richness without overpowering it. It's plated thoughtfully, with complementary sides that keep each bite balanced. If you're at Big Lug Canteen, don't pass up those two dishes -- they demonstrate skilled technique, bold yet nuanced seasoning, and a real sense of care in the kitchen. Great food, relaxed atmosphere, solid value. Highly recommended.
