I love breakfast food but this pancake was a little lackluster for me. I got the goat cheese on the side because I wasn't sure how I would like the taste of lemon, blueberry and cheese. Nonetheless, there was no wait time for a party of 2. We arrived at around 11 and were able to sit at the bar, it would've been a wait for a table but I was happy to sit at the bar because the waitress was very friendly and attentive and our food did come out quick. The omelette was barely warm and the shrimp wasn't cleaned properly. It did have good flavor, but I attribute that to the sauce. Also, the English muffin was tough-didn't even seen as though it was toasted, and it wasn't warm. My son asked to have his french toast reheated since it wasn't hot. I was here for breakfast and ordered 1/2 chicken & waffles and the cup of brunch jambalaya. The waffle was Belgian style, light and airy. Our server was Chloe and while she was super busy, she was great and attentive to everyone's tables. I had their seasonal Louisiana Quiche with grits and house blend coffee. The quiche was huge for 1 person and I ate it for 3 meals total. The grits are amazing, and you can fancy them up by getting the "city grits" if you want. A nice breakfast and brunch place. I stopped in to place a go brunch order after checking into the Drury Plaza Hotel for the weekend, maybe longer depending on my post operative healing. My surgeon's office is literally two minutes south of here. I ordered the Mardi Gras Omelette with the fried potatoes instead of the grits. The omelette was great! Fantastic! Superb! It had boiled shrimp and andouille in it as well as all the usual omelette fixings. Look for it on the Brunch side of the menu. The fried potatoes were good too. Angled parking spaces for short term parking are right in front of the place. I did use the restroom while I waited for the food and it was immaculately clean and fully stocked. Food great --customer service not so much. On Saturday I visited this cafe and had the lobster & brie omelet which was delicious. Unfortunately I found a piece of plastic in the grits. The manager acknowledged that it was from the packaging but it was clear from her body language and defensiveness that she didn't really want to do anything because she believed I was looking for a free meal. Protocol generally dictates that the restaurant pay for the meal. I asked her to take grits off of the bill. She refused but reluctantly gave me the card for free baguettes which is given to everyone. I would have been happy with $5 pepper sauce they sell and forgot about it but she said no because "they sell those" The experience put a distaste in my mouth which made me further review the whole experience. I note they never asked for my name to put me on the waitlist; they gave a couple a table who had just come in after me (not reserved) and when I addressed this I was told they had not put my on the waitlist and was defensive when i explained that I had been waiting; and finally I noticed that most of the black patrons were not welcomed in or out upon leaving. I did think our waitress was very gracious and I hate to leave this because of her. I doubt I will be visiting this 95th Street location again. read more

I had long wanted to try Another Broken Egg Cafe, however, for someone who works in downtown Indy it's a small chain that had long eluded me with its 7am-2pm hours and locations that simply aren't convenient to where I'm going to be most of the time. When I noticed that a brand new location was popping up closer to my Lawrence home over at 82nd and Allisonville, I became a man on a mission and knew that I was going to make my way to the restaurant once and for all. Much to my surprise, however, it was this Sunday morning when I decided to catch an earlier than usual church service on Meridian Street that I found myself ready for breakfast and actually close to this location of Another Broken Egg Cafe just shy of 96th and Meridian Street. Another Broken Egg Cafe is locally owned and operated by Rootstock Hospitality Group. It's a growing mini-chain that is both similar to and vastly different from other area breakfast/brunch/lunch type restaurants. On more than one occasion, I've actually made it to the parking lot only to be turned off by the inevitable wait. However, it's worth noting you can join the wait list from your phone and this makes it more convenient. Also as a matter of note, arriving today around 9:30am I did not have a wait. It likely helped that I was dining alone and only needed a 2-top. I will admit I'm not usually a fan of 2-tops as my wheelchair makes them a tight fit. That said, this one was decent and it had a nice view of the outside. The atmosphere is bright yet warm and pleasant. To be honest, I was a little surprised how much I liked it. My server, Brandon, was an absolute delight. He was friendly, personable, knowledgeable of the menu, and honestly did everything right. They have a traditional menu, signature cocktails, seasonal selections, gluten-free options, and kids' menu. They offer a vegetarian guide on the website. I ended up ordering Classic French Toast - thick slices of bread that were battered, grilled, and topped with sugar. It was generous without being overly decadent or frivolous. It came with eggs of any style and a handful of protein options. As I'm not an egg person, I was able to switch out potatoes and I was super happy I did. The potatoes were your usual breakfast-style fried potatoes that were an absolute delight. They complemented the meal quite nicely. I went with housemade sausage as a protein side. Among the Indy-area breakfast/brunch joints, I have to say this is easily my favorite sausage. It's uniquely cooked, has a bit of spicy kick to it, and is deeply favorable. I was a bit sad when it was gone. I ordered my usual unsweetened iced tea. It was refilled without prompting and I even got one for the road. As a first-time visitor, I got the chance to try their biscuit beignets. I'm not even sure how to describe these, but they are decadent, super sweet, and messy enough that I'm sure this slightly spastic paraplegic went home with a little powder on the shirt and didn't even care. They are a delight. Pricing is consistent with most area breakfast/brunch joints with my meal running in the $15 range including drink. For the amount of food I received and the top-notch service, I had zero issues with pricing. In terms of current pandemic health concerns, servers and staff were masked and overall general spacing was solid enough that I had no concerns. They also offer some outdoor tables. Overall, this experience was a complete winner. The atmosphere is awesome, the food is delicious, and Brandon's service was impeccable from beginning to end. It's taken me way too long to get here, but there's absolutely no doubt I'll be back. Visited back in November and the food was great, the restuarant nice, the server great, so it could have been a five star rating. However, my credit card company sent an email several days later asking if I meant to leave a $5 tip on a $12 bill, 42%. I did not and compared it to my charge receipt, which showed a $2.50 tip. The tip had been doubled! I would love to see how they did that. I did a review on Google mentioning this issue and within a couple of days received an email from, I assume, from corporate management, as they were concerned by this and to contact them. A couple of my friends suggested meeting here on Saturday morning at 11a. Prime brunch time! Honestly, I was bummed to learn it is a chain restaurant because I always want to support our local restaurants. Their website mentions this location is locally owned and operated. This restaurant group, Rootstock Hospitality, also owns Capri so I can get behind that. Of course before I headed out, I popped on Yelp to read reviews and was so glad I did! While they don't take reservations, your party can be added to the waitlist though Yelp! Super convenient. I hadn't used this feature on Yelp and for someone who doesn't like to wait for tables (I've maybe mentioned once or twice) this was super helpful. Since it is was our first visit we got a complimentary half order of beignets to start our meal (I may or may not have asked after this upon reading other reviews. Shameless). They are more cake-like and dense than other beignets (I am still sad that Louie's Wine Dive is no more) I've had but still fun to try and I'd order them again. They have an extensive menu with a focus on southern inspired dishes. I couldn't decide on what I wanted because everything looked so good! So then they re-made my food. And it I think was 2pm when I got it. I asked about the pancakes' and she said she would check. A I assume manager did stop by for a second and say they were re-making the food. I thought it was nice she stopped by. I really wasn't upset. And when the lobster benedict came back it was amazing. The lobster was tender and the hash under it added a nice touch. The mushroom sauce and mushrooms were great with the fried onions. I also chose grits, which I ate while I waited and they were really good too. At 2:05 our waitress stopped back by to check if my food was good and I asked about the pancakes. She went to check and said the kitchen was closed. I could have saved the whole annoyance by getting the French toast. I just didn't want too much sweet, but we never got the pancakes, which I think we asked for at least 5 times. My takeaway is don't come too close to closing. I understand that's our fault. The food was amazing. We both enjoyed our breakfast, once we got it correctly made. I debate going next weekend I really did want to try the trismus French toast.
