Thanksgiving Dinner was wonderful thanks to Metro diner and there dedicated staff.. Our order was for 20 people of turkey and ham dinners. It was all assembled beautifully easy to reheat and fabulous. It was enjoyed by all. I can't say that I would improve on anything. the best part when picking up the food, I know how busy the restaurant was but I really enjoyed seeing the smiling face of Candace our server and coordinator. Good service and plenty of food are a staple at Metro Diner. For those from up north, don't get confused by the term diner. This isn't your typical 24 hour diner. Metro is not open 24 hours. The menu has plenty of variety, albeit not as much as your typical diner. Breakfast is outstanding. Plenty of choices and lots of food to fill you up. Lunch and dinner are the same and will keep you from being hungry anytime soon. They recently also switched to Coke products. Metro Diner is usually busy. I remember when there was only one Metro diner. Now they are everywhere and with good reason! Southern fare in extremely large portions at a great price, AND, delicious! If you leave hungry, it's your own fault. I enjoyed my first experience here where the locals eat. I'm in town building a MedMen on San Jose Blvd and drove by here a few times before I stopped. Nice & friendly attentive ladies getting their work done yet taking the time to chat. Coffee was wonderful and my breakfast was as well. Portions are more than adequate and the plate was beautifully presented I could have split it with my woman but she wasn't in FL yet. Serving $2.99 Bloody Marys & Mimosa's I will bring my lovely bride on a Saturday to partake. The meals are not cheap but I have yet to find much worthwhile in life that is. read more

Came to this location for the first time and as with all their locations the wait was long as usual for a weekend. Once inside, the service was amazing. Never had to ask for a drink refill. Very friendly and attentive. We always had what we needed. I decided to try one of their daily specials, the Apple Yo Halla. While it was delicious, I wouldn't order it again. It didn't live up to my expectations, which are always high when walking in to a Metro Diner. Their peach tea is my favorite and has become my go-to drink. Overall great experience. First time dining here. All I gotta say is: the team working the Sunday brunch rush today--everyone was freakin' professionals. From hosts to servers... to runners... to preps... to cooks... bussers... expeditors--FOH and BOH was solid like I haven't seen in a hot minute. Sweet lil baby Jesus! The food was on point! Had me on my bar stool looking all ridiculous like, "yasss kween!" Shrimp and grits are a must try. Even my friend who swears she doesn't like grits said that the shrimp and grits at Metro Diner were solid. Making little cakes out of the grits is a genius idea. Definitely will try that at home. The pot roast also turned out to be a nice treat too. Beef was a little on the dry side for me, but the abundance of juice on the plate took care of that issue when eaten together. I enjoyed the overly generous portion of meat and potatoes on my plate. Again, service was flawless. Our server, Nike, was friendly, professional, highly attentive, and delivered clear answers for any and all questions I had regarding the menu. Being able to watch the kitchen trudge through that grinder just made the whole dinning experience that much better. My favorite is the shrimp and grits and that's usually what I order. This time I had a craving for a patty melt and they certainly didn't disappoint. It was very good - good enough to make me forget about the shrimp and grits. The ranch is homemade, which is a nice touch, being the ranch snob that I am. Enjoyed it with the fries. They no longer offer bottomless mimosas, but $3 mimosas are not bad. And the glass size is generous. The service with this last visit was outstanding. My favorite diner in town - and probably everyone's judging by how busy it always is. It's worth it! This time I had the Yo Hala on the Square. I don't usually like fruit mixed in with my food but I trusted the chef and tried it and it was amazing. The perfect balance of French toast, fruit, sweetness, and cream cheese to balance it out. The waiters were awesome too. We initially didn't like where we were seated today after getting our drinks and the waitress smoothly transferred us to another table with no problem. The new waitress even offered me her coat because I was chilly inside! The menu is huge, and everything I've had so far has been delicious. The portions are also large; 0/4 of us finished our brunches today, and we each took half of our meals home. Definitely recommend trying Metro Diner our if you haven't yet read more

My morning breakfast with friends could only get better after passing by this sweet Metro Diner location. With the river near by we opted to sit outside and enjoy the gorgeous morning weather. Wait time to sit outside was less than 10 minutes so not bad at all! As I've been to metro diner multiple times since moving to Florida I already knew what to order. However, this review lends to this specific location. Throughout my dining experience we had an ongoing conversation with friends so I didn't take much observation other than our service was well rounded. Server was attentive, brought us what we requested, and efficient on time. I ordered my usual which is the half order of the San Francisco eggs Benedict with a side of hash browns. That is the perfect amount for me to feel energized and full. I for sure recommend it if you don't know what to order! Coffee at metro diner is always freshly brewed and I also suggest asking about their seasonal coffee blends. So in conclusion, this metro diner rocks! My husband and I put our names on the online wait list at 11:11am, the wait online said 26 minutes at this point. We arrived at 11:18am and checked in at the front to let them know we were here. The girl told us it would be about 25 more minutes. At 11:50am we went up front again to ask how much longer because we were now waiting 40 minutes on a 26 minute wait time. We were told another 20 minutes!! I just do not understand how we were on a 26 minute wait list that turned into an hour wait? I wish they were open and honest when I checked in, so that we weren't held hostage and were given an opportunity to make a decision to go somewhere else. Now it's noon and we still haven't eaten. We were warmly greeted, quickly seated, and our drink orders taken. Our son ordered breakfast and we went for sandwiches. Our meals came quickly. Everything was well prepared and tasty. They were very organized and communicated very well with each other. As a server, I completely understand how stressful it gets with a place like this, especially on a Sunday. Every server works hard, and manages to keep a kind smile on their face and appropriate humor. They are tough and fast. The prices match the quality of food and the size of the portions. While I wouldn't consider this place cheap by any means, it isn't insanely expensive. The prices are fair and unless you decide to add on multiple extras, your bill won't be extreme. The food. You don't get more southern comfort than Metro. Today, I had the club. Not only was it perfectly made-it was so big that I could only eat half! This was my first time going to Metro Diner in about six years. It's not because I dislike it, but because the wait time is usually just insane. Today I waited only five minutes so it started out great. I ordered Eggs Benedict and for the first time in a while I found a place that did them right. The Eggs were properly poached, the muffins nicely toasted and the Canadian bacon was...Canadian bacon. Good flavor, nice presentation and a huge portion too. I'd have preferred more lemon and some cayenne in the hollandaise but I ate the whole thing and enjoyed my meal. Our waitress Francis was fantastic as well. I was unaware of how much metro diner has gone downhill over the past few years. I stopped coming here right around when they got rid of the vortex burger. Decided to eat here because a friend of mine was in town. They sat us in the corner by the window, which had multiple flies swarming around. I decided to order chicken tenders because I remembered when I got them years ago they would be in a circle around the plate with a big cup of ranch and a side plate with fries, metro was always known for its amazing portions and taste. When I got the chicken tenders, this time, there were only 3 and a handful of fries with a side cup of ranch. The worst part of the experience, though, was the wait and service. My 2 friends got breakfast bowls, and I got chicken tenders. It was a week day in the morning and not busy at all, but it still took 40 minutes to get our food. The waitress, which I never received her name, was terrible. When a waitress is so bad that the running joke of the table is how to get her to crack a smile, then you know your restaurant has a problem. We were extremely polite and never received even a "you're welcome." You can offer me free food for a year, and I will still never come back to metro. read more

The huge crowd and 15 minute wait really made us wonder if it was going to be worth it, and the significant noise level once seated was another strike it was going to be working against... but seriously, it was worth every bit of everything you'd normally think was an inconvenience. The food and service were SO SO SO GOOD. Great coffee, great sweet tea. I had the breakfast pie, add ham, without the mushrooms, and light on the peppers and onions. When I asked which the server recommended, bacon or ham, she immediately chose ham and said the bacon can tend to sogginess in the pie. Great choice!! But with every plate that servers kept passing me by with came more and more anticipation for my next visit and my next order. Ahhhhh, the famous Metro Diner. I read review after review on how exceptional the food was here, DDD and Guy Fieri fame, etc. Right. Since it was my first time here and the place was packed, I ordered something off the menu that was pretty hard to screw up. Maybe I was at the wrong location, I dunno, but for me this experience was less than ordinary, to say the least. Food: Biscuits and gravy, eggs, with home fries. That "Yo-Halla" creation seemed way too sweet for that time in the morning, with the frangelico and cream cheese mixture going on. I ordered a soda...tasted remarkably like diet...I hate diet. Drank it anyways, since my breakfast didn't exactly qualify as "heart healthy." Food came out in a matter of minutes, so that was cool, and the portions were HUGE. 1 breakfast, 2 plates. Now here's the kicker...took a bite of a biscuit...chewed...swallowed..and started coughing. Why? Because there was more pepper in the gravy than GRAVY. I tried to persevere, but in the end I could only eat 1 biscuit...diet soda chaser between bites *sigh*. I don't send food back because I've seen the movie "Waiting" one too many times, call me crazy...or call me maybe. Home fries...very dark in color, oddly enough....and soft. No crunch on the outside, so I wouldn't exactly qualify these as home FRIES. What was weird was...even without the crunch...there was a burnt aftertaste to them. Eggs were fine, thankfully, and the only thing i finished. Suffice to say, when i left...I left hungry *with a look of disdain.* The service wasn't the problem, it was actually pleasant and efficient (Thank you, Laura and by the way...I drink "regular" coke, but no worries). Atmosphere was indeed diner-ish, but charming so no shock there. But my food...uggh. I kept waiting for Ashton Kutcher to jump out and say I was being "Punked," because I was in such disbelief. You must be there by 8-815 if u don't want a horribly long wait and must be willing to sit at the first available spot lol. Come with an appetite bc the portions are astronomical. Take half of it home or share with a friend. I've so far been a few times, and brought my very pregnant sister and brother in law here , my dad and mom are next! I just love sharing the cities food with people new to town! Try the yo challa on the square, try the special pancakes...I've had lemon soufflé (the best by far when they have it!) and the sweet potato ones. So happy metro chained out! I visit several locations according to my location for that day and this is my eat with the girlz stop. We love the water view and the service is always top notch. The food has always been fresh and inviting with new board items daily with a creative touch. I usually eat breakfast otherwise I would be double my weight with all them gourmet waffles! They do need more restrooms as there is always a line but that won't stop me from coming here. :) read more

We have been here several times during the brunch hours. The most recent was today when my son went and picked up take out for Mothers Day! I had Yo Hala on the square-stuffed French toast topped with a fresh berry compote while my husband had the western omelette & my son had the chicken & waffles. As always, love the Yo Hala! My sons chicken was so tempting that I had to steal a tiny bite.....then my son was kind enough to share a small piece of his succulent, tender chicken with me. Mmmmmmm. My husband can be very particular. He didn't dislike his omelette but it wasn't his favorite. I highly recommend checking out the Metro Diner to anyone looking for a yummy meal!
