My husband and I visited this morning (Wed morning around 9:30) for a late weekday breakfast. I was surprised to find it completely packed and we were quoted 10-15 min wait (we ended up only waiting 5-7 min). Our stomachs made our brains feel empowered and we foolishly ordered the Bissel Breakfast. This ginormous meal consisted of a short stack of pancakes, 2 eggs, 3 pieces of bacon (or other meat option), English muffin (or other bread option), hash browns (other options available). I can honestly say everything but my eggs were perfect. The bacon was delicious. Sitting in the restaurant you get a slight diner feel but with the service and food I prefer to call this a home cooked meal. We will return as I can't wait to try lunch! read more

Sunday lunch with my family. I had chicken & waffles which was very good. Daughter had a hamburger & onion rings (which were too thick for her taste). My son & mom split the Monte' Cristo sandwich, which wasn't as big as expected, my son could have eaten the whole sandwich. We seldom get away from our side of town (near the airport), so when we do we look for somewhere we don't have, and Metro was it for us today. It was crowded when we got there, but, it didn't take long to get in though. Parking was bad, but some how I ended up with an ok spot. So, it was a good experience for all of us. I actually tried something different today. Well I had to with the vegetarian thing now. Great service as always. We were seated very quickly, especially for lunch time. I know they try to be fast because they are a popular diner and they want to accommodate guests quickly. Our food was fresh and delicious. I tried the Breakfast Burrito. This burrito was so big I had to eat it with a knife and fork. I requested sour cream to top it off. Somehow some way I ate the entire burrito. My husband did a half order of Chicken and Waffles. It isn't on the menu but it can be ordered. I just love secret menu items! I was very pleased because it has not always been 5 stars for me at this location. I had a hard time trying to figure out what to rate this actually. The reason being that our food was amazing, but our server was kind of intimidating! I couldn't tell if it was like a dry sense of humor thing or if he was really just kind of rude. We had a group of 11 and when he came over there were no smiles or friendliness from him and he went straight into drink orders. Then when he came back to drop off water for us all there was some confusion passing it along and getting them out for everyone which we thought was just funny, no harm done. But the guy was not having it. After they were out the just threw the straws down on the table and we all just kinda stopped laughing and when we left we were all left thinking we made him so angry and wondering why. We honestly were wondering how likely it would be that he'd spit in our food for making him mad! The entire time we felt like we had to be extra nice so he wouldn't give us a sarcastic reply or just get a annoyed look. But again, we couldn't tell if it was like trying to be funny or if he was just rude. It was totally bizarre. The food however was sooo good. Every bite was amazing and I ate way more than I should have. Everyone got something different and everyone was very pleased with what they got. My husband and I went there for lunch today. I had the chicken fried steak special. The steak tasted good but it was very,very thin and had a lot of breading on it. The mashed potatoes were luke warm at best. My husband had the Pastrami sandwich, and the bread was soggy and not toasted enough. We both drank water and the bill was $28 and change. We are regulars at Metro Diner and we love the food as well as the service. We've only had one issue with our food in all the countless times we've been and they were quick to go far above and beyond what we felt would have made it right and did so proactively. They have even renovated to add a takeaway window that eases the traffic flow at the front door for these pick up orders. Metro is a household favorite! read more

We love metro, we are usually there every week sometime twice a week. We went on December 31 about 4:00 pm. I had just had surgery that morning, so we stopped on the way home and got a to go order. French dip with fries and a chicken parm dinner. We live about 5 min away. The food was horrible, except for the fries. The bread for the sandwich was hard, parts of it burnt, half portion of meat that they normally put, aujus was very salty. The chicken parm is usually one of the best we've had. Chicken was over cooked, so tough to eat and they burnt the bread. January 21 we stopped and ate lunch. We had a small salad and a big mikes BLT. Everything was great. At 4:30 I tried to order a club sandwich online, after not being able to complete it, after 15 minutes I called it in. They did honor my online coupon when I called it in. My husband went to pick it up, a guy with a beard said it wasn't ready so he waits and waits, 2 people came ordered got their food and left, yes he's still waiting. He's sitting in plain sight, they can see him waiting. He goes back up and asked again and the lady says it's been ready. He sat there all that time waiting!! It was a club, but the bread was tough, hard so I had to toast some bread at home and remake my sandwich. Not a happy customer today!! I'm not sure what happens in the afternoon/evening but it's not as good. We probably will stick to breakfast and lunch! Avoid this location!! We are typically a fan of Metro Diner but this location keeps getting worse. Visited on a Saturday night. Not too crowded. Waitress very nice and helpful. After 20 min from placing our order, we noticed the table next to us having words with the waitress about when would their food arrive (there were tables getting served who sat down 10 min after us). The manager came over to their table and said they had issues and would comp their dinner. 5 min later their food showed up. We figured our food was next. Nope, they kept serving the tables that sat down 15-20 min after us. Went in to find our waitress and she was nowhere to be found. A few minutes later she walked by and I asked about our order....and commented that a table who sat down after us had already been served, paid their bill and left. She said she had "words" with her manager. A few minutes after that, 1/2 of our order arrived....all luke warm as it had been under the heating lamp. The other 1/2 came later and they said they would take care of the bill. Great, because the food was now cold and rubbery. Bill came, they gave us a 50% discount. What?? We waited twice as long as the other table who you comped their entire meal. No apology. No asking if the food was ok. They just wanted to recoup their cost and get us out of there. I love them! It's my favorite breakfast spot... Except that none of the staff wears masks prooerly. The mask goes over your noise, you CAN wear it to talk to someone, or at least just put one on. Even the cooks aren't wearing them properly and they're preparing our food. read more

Have had take out twice from here. First time I had the western omelet which was a disappointment. They forgot it was minus mushrooms and the way they make it was a bigger disappointment. They cool the omelette and than put all the fixings in and close it. The hash brown potatoes had no flavour The second take out was the metro club which was excellent. The omelette just would have been better if the veggies & ham were cooked in the egg instead of just putting that in after cheese is melted and folding the omelette over. Hollandaise sauce was delicious and made to perfection, tasted very home made and I could eat it by the spoonful! The only reason I will not give 5 stars is because of the hostess. Everything I've gotten from here has been wonderful. Lately I've been on a salad kick and haven't gotten tired of their spinach salad with grilled chicken. It's spinach, feta, shredded carrots, praline pecans, red onion, strawberries, and blueberries. The berries are exceptionally good because they are in season right now. We really miss the Metro diner on San Jose in San Marco. Probably the best brekkys I have ever eatin. Not found a Better one yet. We are not a hundred miles away but we are seniors so it is a little problematic at this time to pick up and take a ride. We have two of the old coffee mugs from Metro with the old type advertising on them. They are a little chip here and there. I bought them at the diner some years back. They are not for sale, and on and off we use them for a mug of coffee. For some reason the coffee even tastes better when drinking out of the Metro mugs. read more
