Just left after eating breakfast, our first time trying the restaurant. The food was horrible. I had the Eggs Benedict and it came out cold, the hollandaise sauce was thin, runny and greasy. The hash browns were greasy and had a strange taste. My husband ordered eggs over easy and they came out with the yolks completely hard. My wife and I have been twice since it opened earlier in December. Our 1st visit was for breakfast and I ordered a pancake only to find that it was runny in the middle. Sent it back and waited 20 minutes to get another one. Too many other places in town that two people can eat breakfast for less than $32. Tonight we went for dinner and I ordered a well done All American burger and received it medium rare. Wife ordered a Philly Cheese Steak sandwich and she said it was bland tasting with very little cheese. So, needless to say we've tried to give them a chance but we will not be going back. Also very limited seating for parties of 5 or more. Most entree items are $10 to $15. Be aware of servers suggesting certain sides which are an up charge. Music was very load and all the servers were singing. If I wanted to listen to people sing while eating dinner I would go to a dinner theater. My suggestion is to go across the Thompson Lane and eat at Red Robin where you can get $7 burger with bottomless fries. Maybe they will get better. If not, they will not be open very long. read more

2/20/21: Been a while but we're back and we both tried the "limited time" Sausage Gravy & Chicken Tenders Waffle which was yummy! It has a cornbread stuffing waffle is not gritty or sandy like some folks like their cornbread but nice and soft like you'd get out of the Turkey on Thanksgiving! I'd highly recommend this dish before they decide to take it away! Enough for me to split it in 2 and have leftovers for my Mom's dinner later (as we're eating at 3:30p)! Walking in you're greeted with friendly smiling hostess. It was busy for a Sunday evening but we were seated right away. Observing my surroundings' I notice the tables were quickly clear and the waitress were helping each other bringing food to hungry patrons. We had the country fried steak drench in creamy yummy sausage gravy on top of mash potatoes and Pulled Pork on top of macaroni cheese drizzle with BBQ sauce and corn bread. Great experience here! As a family we were seated right away. I'm not going to go into every detail but the customer service was great! I ordered the chicken n waffles with regular and strawberry butter and spicy syrup. The waitress came over while our food was being prepared and demonstrated how to make the spicy syrup which was cool. I also ordered their biscuits and gravy and grits for the table. (No hardcore judgement since it was for the table). The food came out hot and fresh I used both regular butter, I preferred regular butter the strawberry wasn't my style. The chicken was seasoned well and the waffles were fluffy. The grits were thick which is hard to find but needed more seasoning. The biscuit and gravy were solid as well. I went on a Friday morning with my family ordered the chicken and waffles and the avocado breakfast sandwich. I ended up ordering a brown sugar oatmeal for my 2 year old I thought it was strange there was no kids menu. But once I asked for something for her to draw with I find out they do have a kids menu, well the brown sugar oatmeal was terrible I sent it back and asked for something else it was bland and had no sugar in it. My wife had the avocado sandwich and it was disgusting the avocado was very old and flavorless and the French fries came out cold and hard. I had the chicken and waffles if this dish is the staple of the place that's sad it was not good the strawberry butter is over powering and too sweet the waffles were hard and the chicken was bland. I was happy when I first went here and loved the vibes inside! Because it's an obvious busy place we were able to be seated at the bar and that wasn't a problem for me. The food was relatively quick for now busy they were and it was all around good. When I think of this place I can compare it to a retro ihop in a way. They have about the same quality food (minus the amazing syrups you can get from here). The service here is pretty good and the food isn't too bad. The serving sizes are HUGE. I had the chicken and waffles and it was more than enough for two people... and I like to eat! The little sauce they mix up for it wasn't my favorite. I've also had a couple of their burgers and they were ok as well. The clam soup is great so give it a try when it's available! read more

After meaning to try the Metro Diner for over a year, the wife and I finally stopped in last week. We had breakfast, and were so impressed we went back the next day for brunch. And this morning we went back for the third time. The place is always hopping, for good reason. From start to finish, everything about this place raises the bar for the competition. Where other restaurants hand you the hockey puck pager to let you know when your table is ready, here they send a link to your phone so you can actually see how many people are ahead of you in real time, and then notify you when it's your turn to be seated. The atmosphere has a real 'diner' vibe, but much nicer. The staff is friendly and attentive, without being intrusive. Especially Jenna and Halie. They make you feel like family. Now the important stuff. The FOOD! The food is amazing here. Everything is cooked to perfection. Their fried chicken is the best I've had, anywhere. But be warned, no matter which plate you order, the portions are HUGE! Which is not a complaint. Get used to taking a doggie bag home to enjoy the next day. (Note: you can order a half size on many plates, which is nice!) This morning we had the Chicken Benedict ( heaven ) and the Steak and Egg bowl, which had steak so perfectly seasoned and tender it practically melts in your mouth. We are in love with this place, and have committed to going every week, until we've tried everything on the menu. I hesitated to leave this review, because it's already hard enough to get in sometimes, but when a business excels at everything it sets out to do, they deserve recognition. This is and updated review. At the bottom of this review is my original review. Following right now is the result of my re-visits. I've improved the rating from 3* to 4*, as I suggested in the first visit. REVISIT REVIEWS I stopped by last Saturday to try breakfast, and the line was out the door. I did not even bother going in. Today, my wife and I revisited on a Wednesday. It was uncrowded and we enjoyed our meal better than our first visit. I had the Crab Cake Eggs Benedict and enjoyed it very much. When the dish was placed before me, the first thing I smelled was the crab aroma. Presentation was very nice. The crab taste was nicely balanced with the egg and Hollandaise Sauce. Now the crab cake had a lot of crab meat, but it was not the most expensive, probably a canned lump version. Absent were the nice large pieces of crab, but it tasted very good. English Muffins used in a dish like this can ruin it if too mushy or too hard to cut. These were a little difficult to cut, but it worked fine. Substituting Cheese Grits for Hashbrowns was a good idea. However, they were not the dish I expecting. Expecting that the cheese would be blended through out the dish, I found that they only melted a slice of cheese on the usual dish. But it was good. I will come back when in the mood, but it is not my absolute favorite, especially during busy times. ORIGINAL REVIEW BELOW This restaurant has not been open long, so my rating may be higher if I go back. The inside is beautifully decorated, the menu has many diverse offerings and to my surprise, they serve beer and wine. The bench seat at out table was wet, and I had to get someone to come with a real towel to dry it off. Even though several servers checked on me when I first got there, it still took over a half hour to be seated and to get our food. Our server was nervous and unfamiliar with the menu, but was pleasant and cheerful. She had to go check what the Sam Adams seasonal beer was. Now for the food itself. Cheddar cornbread waffle highlighted the appetizer menu. Since it is unique, I had to try it. There were two huge waffles, cut in quarters and were a meal in themselves. Balance between cheese and corn was wonderful. There was even some whole kernel corn in it. Maple butter was a nice addition, but it was just on lump that buttered only one piece. A bit soggy, but very tasty and I recommend them. Side salad was pretty good. My server never asked what dressing I wanted, but I settled for the Ranch it was good. My lunch was very late today, so I was not really hungry, which may be why I knocked them down a bit. When you order herbal tea, they bring a large tea tray with several up level offerings. My wife selected a blueberry and as soon as she opened it, everyone at the table could smell the wonderful aroma. Many burgers were on the menu, and my son ordered the Swiss mushroom. His comment was that the beef flavor was wonderful, but almost too favorable - to the point of masking the cheese and mushrooms. Your French Fries are one way my family rates restaurants. My wife and I stole a few from my son's plate and declared them very good. There was a nice crisp coating and the inside was fluffy and flavorful. My wife had the veggie wrap with chicken. She liked it a lot because everything in the wrap was crunchy an flavorful. The actual tortilla was not as good as she hoped. The tomato basil flavor in the tortilla was overpowered by the goodies inside. read more

It was between ok and good. I came in for some breakfast. I had the meaty omelette with biscuits & gravy and grits. I didn't season anything and ate it as is. Like in many restaurants they want you to taste it first. I found the seasoning to be adequate so that I didn't add any more salt or pepper. To start off the omelet was ok. The egg was cooked well almost over cooked and they just chopped the meat and placed them inside the eggs. The meat included bacon, sausage, and ham. Then there was the biscuit and gravy. The gravy was seasoned perfectly. With additions of the sausage it made the seasoning slightly saltier. Anyways, I liked how they crumbled the sausage. There were some big chunks of it. Nice touch there. Next was the grits. I decided to get it plain. I wanted to try it out before I added anything else. Well it turns out they already had lots of butter and/or too much salt. Normally I like my grits slightly plain before I add anymore seasoning. Lets just say I couldn't finish the grits. Whether I was full or I didn't like that they didn't pay attention to the amount of salt/butter. Again, it was ok. In conclusion, it was ok. Some people like their food with lots of seasoning and then some don't. Usually you would want the food to have a baseline so that everyone can eat it without too much salt/pepper/seasoning. That's why there is ketchup/salt/pepper on the table. One can always ask for these condiments. This is my first impression. I may or may not come back. Again, it was ok. read more

The respectful communication between the kitchen staff was incredibly impressive. I sat at the counter for breakfast on a busy Saturday morning and never once did I see the kitchen staff get frustrated or irritated at each other even though they had multiple problems to solve which they did so respectfully and efficiently, communicating well. The speaks to both great staff and great training and management. I spoke to the manager on duty, Brittany, who was quick to take time to speak to me even though they were very busy. The music is nice and the American diner vibe is right, but the comfortable ambiance is juxtaposed with poor service and disappointing meal preparation. We had to eat our appetizer with our hands because we weren't given utensils or napkins until our meal arrived. Then, 2 of our orders were prepared incorrectly with an excuse that they just didn't have the proper ingredients in stock.
