I was contacted by their management after my review and wanted to update my review. Here is the response I got: "We are currently unable to alter any of the way our togo and delivery are set up at the moment, but we are working on something with our construction team to hopefully create a remedy to the problem that you experienced while dining with us. Based on your review as well, I contacted our delivery partners to ask that their drivers not crowd around the tables that are by the register and we have taken a more observant role when it comes to having several pick ups around the same time." We tried Metro Diner for the first time this past weekend and LOVED it! We had breakfast and the food was excellent! First, the coffee is great. Smooth and not bitter at all. My Breakfast Pie was cooked perfectly and was delicious! It also came with bacon and grits. Many restaurants seem to fail at cooking bacon and grits, but they were both excellent at Metro Diner. We loved the decor. If you've ever been to a diner in the Northeast, you will like this place. It is somewhat small inside but they have plenty of tables. A couple of other thoughts. Parking is limited so you might have to circle around the parking lot a few times. Also, you will probably have to wait for a table. It was very crowded when we got there. We will definitely go back and try dinner! read more

Jermaine took great care of us today and the staff is always amazing. Metro Diner is our absolute favorite local spot especially for breakfast. The menu is fantastic keeping us coming back time after time. Everyone on the staff makes us feel very welcomed and quickly take care of our needs. I was so excited to see a restaurant with table service again... I was so sick of drive-thru food! I walked in to Metro right after opening on a Tuesday, and ordered the 2-egg breakfast. When asked for my choice of toast, I requested wheat with real cow butter - and I GOT real cow butter! The eggs were to order; bacon crispy but not burnt; and I think I got half of Idaho on my plate in hashbrowns: what a beautiful pile of food! I tasted an interesting, exotic flavor to the potatoes... a bit of inquiry revealed a light dusting of Cajun seasoning on the hashbrowns during the grilling. Heard great reviews about this place but had a horrible experience. First, we ordered two mimosas, one orange juice and one cranberry, we got two orange. Then, ordered crab cake Benedict's for them to be out. Ordered a separate Benedict meal and exchange the side for potatoes, got the wrong side and never received the potatoes. Our second order we added a side of biscuits and gravy. When the food came out there was no Biscuits and gravy and when we asked, once again, they were out. All of this after waiting an hour and 15 mins for our food after ordering. The food itself wasn't bad but the service was awful. They were clearly overwhelmed. When we tried to talk to the manager just to inform him of the situation he was too busy to come over as he was cooking in the kitchen. I come from a serving back ground and understand busy times but communication and service is key. Not worth it. read more

I wish I had a diner like this where I live! This place was awesome! We were greeted by friendly, smiling employees and seated rather quickly for a Friday night. The menu has a vast array of different options, so many different things I would've loved to try-especially the breakfast for dinner section-I love me some all day breakfast! Service was great but the food did take a while to come out (probably my fried chicken-better to take a while than have undercooked chicken). My boyfriend got the shepherds pie-sooo good! He only let me have one bite I ordered the chicken and waffles because-well I just can't resist when that's an option anywhere This is a BIG meal but OMG is good! The chicken was fried perfectly with a great taste and the syrup/hot sauce mix just elevated the flavor that much more. To make it better, the breast was super tender. I'm usually a dark meat person but this whole dish was great. The waffles were also amazing! I'm not usually a fan of flavored butters but the strawberry butter was delicious and paired perfectly with the whole dish. I couldn't finish this on my own so I shared (I probably could've but they'd have to roll me out of there after ) so my boyfriend was happy to enjoy the deliciousness as well. Metro Diner has good food and the portion sizes are huge. The prices are a little high but all in all, it's a good experience.

Stopped in for brunch, sat down and no one took our order. Several who came in after us, got there order and drinks.

This seemed like a great place when i walked in. The menu was to die for. Being a big fan of Eggs benedict, this place had several choices . When my meal arrived i was impressed. The presentation was excellent. Eggs done to perfection and plenty of ham and avacodo. Everything seemed perfect until i took my first bite. Although delicious the muffin was tough as shoe leather and so hard i trouble cutting it with my knife. I told the waitress and she only said, oh sorry. Not offering to replace it. If you've ever eaten breakfast - or lunch - at a proper diner in northern New Jersey, this is as close as you'll get anywhere around here. It's a chain, but don't even think of comparing it to Denny's or IHOP, this is a whole other ball game despite any superficial similarities in the menu offerings. I went to my standard NJ diner breakfast order: two eggs over easy, sausage, toast, hash browns. This is eaten in a very specific way: put about 2/3rds of the hash browns on the eggs and add one of the two sausages, then dice that up so that the potatoes and sausage bits are egg soaked. Season to taste with salt, pepper, Tabasco. Now, the four toast-halves, buttered, as used as follows. Two are wrapped around the remaining sausage and eaten sandwich style. The other two toasts are eaten with jelly, one grape, one strawberry, but only after you have eaten the remaining potatoes doused in as much ketchup as you can find. #process You know what will absolutely NOT work in that process? "Home fries". They're not soft enough to absorb the egg and the flavors simply don't mix. So Metro actually offers your choice of hash browns or home fries! Never seen that anywhere. And they'll put add-ons in your hash browns, borrowing a note from the Waffle House (but again, that's the extent of any similarity). Anyone that cooks breakfast potatoes two different ways seriously knows what they're doing. The lunch items I saw here looked delicious too. I don't think you can go wrong here. read more

Our neighbor recommended this restaurant so we decided to give it a try. We showed up on a Monday morning and the place was about a third full. I ordered the biscuits and gravy which was very good. My wife also liked her meal but she prefers a thick cut bacon instead of thin type they serve. The only minor (and I do mean minor) was our server could have been more attentive. However, since other servers cleared dishes it wasn't a real issue. I would recommend this restaurant for breakfast. read more

Coffee pot was put on fresh and the waitress apologized REPEATEDLY for a "delay".... Fresh coffee is always worth the wait AND it did NOT disappoint... Biscuits are OUT OF THIS WORLD PERFECT.... just enough "crust" on the bottom like Mom's.... The Sausage Gravy and Eggs... Well, what can you say NEGATIVE about those... the Hash Browns are PERFECT.... Absolutely PERFECT.... Portions.... Well, if you leave here hungry one of two things happened.. 1) You lack class and taste buds to be in a WORLD Premiere DINER... -or- 2) Your an idiot who thinks Chicken Tenders from a drive thru window are the bomb....
