This place is the place! It would be easy to say come here for the fried chicken because if that is all they did it would be worth the visit but there is so much more to this place. From the minute you come in the staff is friendly, knowledgeable about their menu and accommodating and in general so sweet. I saw them talking to other tables like they knew them they remember things about them and everyone seemed at home. Well I felt the same after just a bit. You get the feel of true americana diner, lay back, relaxed just good food that puts you back on the road feeling good. I usually get one of two things here: 1. Chicken and waffles. Fair warning it will ruin chicken and waffles for you. After this you might find good but never this good. A giant Belgian waffle, half a fried Chicken, fresh made to order fantastic chicken!!!! I need a picture and might use that as an excuse to go to Metro :D 2. The Fried chicken platter. Same fantastic fried chicken with regular sides, Seasoned fries that are great and their creamy (done right cause you are in the south) Mc- n-Cheese. Wife had the croissant (quason) French toast and hash brown, great sweet savory breakfast. I've had their burgers and offering all satisfying and delicious. Their coffee is good and strong, but I have to admit my wife wished there was a more barista like coffee option as she likes her coffee with more of a dessert vibe. I dined in here on a Friday night for dinner. We were glad to be seated right away. We had a friendly, upbeat server who took good care of us. I liked the vibe of the restaurant. This was around 4th of July and I liked that the lights were changed to red, white, and blue colors with some patriotic decorations. We ordered 2 of the crispy chicken and sandwiches with fries and diet cokes. The sandwiches were very filling and we both only ate half and took our other halves to go. We should have split one! It lived up to the crispy name and was fresh. I always order honey mustard at restaurants to dip my fries in and I liked the flavor of the honey mustard here. Anyone can have very satisfying brunch here. If you like a good old American this is the place for you! If you are hungry they serve enough that you will leave happy. My husband amd I were ready to eat! My husband ordered fried chicken with mac and cheese fries and a biscuit. And I ordered the croissant French toast with powdered sugar and topped with butter. We stopped into Metro diner while visiting our college student at UCF. It's very close to campus! I love the vibes of this little diner, it's the perfect mix of classic diner with updated restaurant offerings and seasonal decor. The service was fantastic! Roxann really knocked our socks off. She was insightful about the menu and what they did and did not have as options. Our order came out PERFECTLY and in great time. I haven't been to a Metro Diner in several years. We were in the Oviedo area for the day, so we decided to stop for breakfast. I joined the waitlist online on the way, so by the time we checked in with the hostess, we didn't have to wait long to be seated. Aundrea was our server; she was very personable and welcoming. I had forgotten that Metro Diner has both brewed regular coffee AND brewed flavored coffee. I drink my coffee black, so flavored coffee is always preferred, although nobody usually offers it. It was hot, fresh, and delicious. The Metro Diner menu has changed a bit since we were last at one of the diners, so it took a little bit of time to review. I ordered the Fried Chicken Benedict, which I don't recall being on there before. It was delicious, with a generous portion of everything. And the eggs were perfectly cooked, so the yolks oozed into the biscuits and hashbrowns, complementing the Hollandaise sauce. The prices for breakfast were reasonable, too, compared to other breakfast establishments. I wish there were more locations on the west side of Orlando. read more

I've been to many different locations and this Metro Diner is the best. The staff, quality and overall ambience is excellent. I placed an online order with Roxanne who was so kind. When I arrived Roxanne went to get the order. She came back and said the manager saw my order and asked for it to be remade because the chicken did not look good. She said they are training someone new. She gave me a free drink while I waited and some extra ranch (they have the best). The chicken tenders were huge and the fries seasoned just right. The staff were super friendly and accommodating -- we ordered the Metro Club (asked for double turkey instead of ham, and they happily did it!), a Southwest Scramble Bowl, and chicken strips from the kids' menu. Came on Friday, 1/2/26, for late lunch. Food was very good, they have a good variety of selections including meatloaf, chicken pot pie, Shepherd's pie, Teriyaki Salmon. My hubby got the Fish and Chips, only available on Friday. Two large pieces - took one piece home for next day's lunch! I got the Metro Club which I took home 2/3rds for the next day's lunch and Rich ate part of it for Friday dinner. Club was well built and not slack on the meats and cheese - tasted great! Hubs got a salad for his side with the fish. Fresh, tasty and the dressing was yum! Our waitress, Serena, was attentive and helpful and gave us good service, especially considering she was taking care of half the tables! Came here with a couple of friends who were visiting us from New York, and honestly I was impressed with how quickly we sat down and how delicious the food tasted this time. The last time I went to the metro diner of university it wasn't the greatest. But this location was great. We waited about 10 mins which was supposed to be a 30-40 min wait. And then the food came out about 15 minutes later! We were sat near the back line and arrival tub observe the hustle and bustle of the cooks and the waitresses. The place is run like a well oiled machine. our waitress, Isabella, was super friendly and efficient. The coffee tasted great, the biscuits were perfect, my hashbrowns were perfect, and the eggs were excellent! My wife changed her mind about the home prize and they quickly replaced it with fresh fruit, which was actually very fresh! This is my second time at Metro Diner and I had a good experience. Typical diner vibe and it's not a very large restaurant but they get through tables pretty quickly. I came here for brunch with a large party and ordered the fried chicken plate which is a half chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy, another side, and a biscuit. For my other side I went with a Caesar salad which was ok just your basic salad. The star is definitely the fried chicken and it was crispy, fresh, and juicy. It did need a bit more seasoning but I enjoyed the chicken with the spicy syrup they offer. Service was lacking and my party had to constantly ask the server for refills, napkins, to clear out plates - so that was the only thing that I feel needs to be addressed. I ordered delivery from this location. My order was missing several items. When I called the restaurant they basically told me there was nothing they could do. This is not the first time my order was missing items. I will never order from them again. Also when I visited the restaurant they had a special needs kid as a host. He didn't talk and put together more place settings than was in my party. I'm all for special needs people working and learning jobs but host was not an appropriate role especially if they don't talk. It was very awkward. This location clearly doesn't care about their customers with service like that. UPDATE: first of all Mike how dare you insinuate that I am not open minded! I specifically said I had no problem with special needs people working and learning job roles but it was the wrong role. I ordered the brunch burger with the holly on the side and got no holly at all. I ordered the strawberry shortcake pancakes and all I got were two pancakes with a few strawberries on them. No strawberry crunch, powdered sugar, or strawberry cream cheese. I also ordered the croissant French toast and added strawberry butter which was an extra charge. I got no strawberry butter or syrup. Who eats French toast without syrup? Clearly the attention to detail was severely lacking. Your employee told me I needed to contact Uber Eats about my missing items or a manager could contact me later that afternoon. What a great place for some hearty food! From the food to the service, Metro Diner is one of the best diners around. Yes, it is a chain but I love the fact that the food is consistent. I ate at two different Metro Diners in the same week and ate the same thing at both because I enjoyed it so much. It was consistently good at both locations. Rundown of what I really like: - Food is excellent! It's cooked to order and they have something for everyone. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are served all day. - Prices are reasonable for the food portions and quality. Yay for my pocket. - It's family friendly. They have high chairs and changing tables in the restrooms. - Service is great and the atmosphere is relaxed. - They serve beer, wine, bloody mary's, and mimosas. Food wise, my favorites are the burgers, meatloaf, fries, broccoli, and pretty much anything on the breakfast menu. I want to try it all! I reviewed this place about four years ago, and I gave it four stars. I don't know what was wrong with me. I'm updating this to five stars because duh, this is the best chicken & waffles in town. And in the past four years, I've eaten a Lot of chicken & waffles. I took four other guys here for our annual boys trip, my friends come and visit me from the Panhandle, and they always look forward to Metro. We came in, got promptly seated, and ordered four orders, which panicked the cooks. Two whole chickens take a long time to cook. But after our well-worth-it wait, we got our Fried Chicken & Waffle (Half a fried chicken and a Belgian waffle, topped with powdered sugar and sweet, strawberry butter. Served with our signature sweet and spicy sauce). Perfection. Crunchy on the outside, juicy within, and a perfectly cooked waffle, too. And you can customize each and every bite with either the Amazing strawberry butter or the equally Amazing spicy/sweet Texas Pete's hot sauce/maple syrup combo. It's just so good. I also got the chance to try one of their specials, the carrot cake bread pudding. This was fine. It was slices of cake out of a sheet pan soaked in the pudding solution. It was so dense, it didn't permeate as much as it could of. I recommend them cutting their cake into cubes for more solution absorption. But maybe that's just me. Overall, I guess 2019 me just didn't appreciate things as much as he should have. That was before Covid put everything into perspective for me. I used to love this location. The servers are great. The employees do the best they can with bad management and bad management decisions. The care taken with the food has gone down quite a bit. More than once I have had 'stray' food items make its way into my dish. The once great tasting entrees are now lackluster at best. When concerns are brought to management, they are dismissed. I let the manager (I think his name might be Mike) know that food pieces from other dishes are getting into the wrong orders. He replied with 'Okay', turned away and walked off. No apology, not even any excuses...just 'okay' and walked off. I was utterly dismissed without any concern for the issue. I will not be returning to this restaurant until I know this issue has been addressed. There are far too many great restaurants for me to waste my time and money where it is not valued. read more

We've been going to this place for years. The food was never amazing but it was decent and fair. The last few visits have been iffy. Today was the worst. We had 4 adults and a child. Three of the meals were not good. One meal included home fries... they were dark brown, soft, squishy and tasted of old oil. The server replaced them with hash browns. One meal was an omelet which was cold in the middle. The third included pancakes. The pancakes had onions on them. When the manager came by at the end (not during the meal) and we tried to tell him the food was not good, he said "ok" and started to walk away. I pointed out the onions on the pancakes to him and he just said "ok" again and walked off. We had already paid and we're not expecting a comp or anything but some kind of apology to acknowledge the problem was needed. My husband spoke with the manager as we were leaving to be told OK again, no apology, no interest. Such great staff such, awful management response. Food standards are slipping.
