As in drive back and request a manager terrible. I get to hear about it every time we pass this restaurant now. I have been a patron of Metro for over 6 years now. The original Metro in Jacksonville was my first experience and it was amazing. Needless to say, if you choose to go to metro, drive the distance to the Wekiva Springs/Longwood/Altamonte location because it is SO much better! Whoever is in charge of the kitchen at the Wekiva location needs to come to Oviedo and train the chefs. The Oviedo location's food can be summed up in one word: inconsistent. The food was good, cooked as requested. But the floor under the table was noticed by my Granddaughter as "a place for littering by someone"! We arrived before the lunch rush, when only 3 tables were occupied, so I think it maybe should have been cleaned up before we came in to eat. While the food was Pretty good, our server (Sylvester) did not seem very hospitable towards us the whole time we were there. It was me and my grandma and my one and a half-year-old son and he didn't even wait to ask what my son wanted to drink, he just got our drink orders and left right away. Once our food was delivered, he didn't come to check on us in the time period that he should have (I know that he should've come check on us about two minutes after we started our food- he didn't). The manager came to see how our food was sooner than the server did. Sylvester barely made eye contact us when he was at the table, and when it came to things like The fresh biscuits we were waiting on, a box, or a to go cup for my drink, he couldn't have been bothered. the hostess, other female server and manager paid more attention to us than our server did (didn't complain to the manager about service). great diner! went there on a busy saturday morning. there was 3 of us - we sat in a nice clean booth and we were so fortunate to have 2 servers - Dana and Bianca. Bianca was in training (day 2) and she was great! all 3 of has the Bissel breakfast which was so great! A big breakfast with everything you would want with room to customize what you want! i had the standard with the pancakes and my friends had the 1/2 waffle. i had the hash browns extra crispy which was perfect too. Been here a few times now. I have ordered the chicken sandwich several times. It's pretty good, but it's never the same twice. Today's order was disappointing because they left my side item off the order completely which I didn't know until I got home. Feel a little ripped off. Tried the latest Metro Diner tonight, not super impressed. My daughter had the Waffle from the Kid's menu. She seemed to like it, although they never delivered the side of fruit that was supposed to come with it. I ordered the Shepherds Pie, which didn't have much flavor, and was mostly mashed potatoes. Food took a while to come out, but wasn't overly long. Service was a little rushed, even though they were half full. I will probably give it another shot, but if it isn't great next time there won't be a third. read more

My family and I had a great experience for our first time at Metro Diner. We waited for about 15 minutes which was to be expected on a Sunday early afternoon. The staff was pleasant and attentive and did a great job getting the customers served in a timely manner. The manager came by to check in with us and our server was delightful. The service was GREAT! The inside is nicely decorated and clean. I want to love this restaurant! A few friends have enjoyed it. I have been twice and I think it is okay. I tried breakfast and dinner. Dinner I had the shepherds pie from the recommendation of the server. It was just okay. Breakfast I had an omelet. Again it was okay. There wasn't much cheese in the omelet. The hash browns looked like they were from the freezer. My kids enjoyed the waffle and pancakes. I will probably give it another try. Maybe I'm just getting the wrong thing. read more

I've been coming here since it first opened in Oviedo. And I regret to say that I don't see myself returning to eat here again. Granted, I've worked in the restaurant business for years and the service my fiancé and I received today was less than appropriate. Our server, Trevor was attentive and understanding but the manager on duty had quite an excessive demeanor. Long story short, I was excited to order and eat my chicken pot pie because it's my favorite dish! Unfortunately this time around after tasting it, I noticed that the dough or the dairy used in it was quite sour and had my fiancé taste as well to make sure I wasn't just being weird. Trevor helped us out and even though I had lost my appetite, I decided to order the MeatLoaf to replace my meal because I hadn't eaten all day. The meatloaf was great and the manager brought over some soup for my fiancé because he had already finished his meal. (even though he wasn't hungry anymore, it was a decent gesture). What I was most concerned about is that, when I saw the bill, not only did my meal not get compensated, I was charged the more expensive price for the meatloaf and was given %40 off even though I didn't even really want it, my fiancé was given room temperature Mac and cheese and was done with his food before my replaced meal was served by the manager. The manager came off quite aggressive after observing her talking to the other servers and then coming to give me my food, so we decided it wasn't even worth making a scene about the bill, but we will most likely not be returning. read more

Went to the Oviedo location. This place is great! Love the menu. But the best part was our server, Kayla. I was with an older person with special needs who kept ordering things throughout our breakfast. Kayla was so patient and caring with her. She anticipated all our needs including bringing us boxes for our leftovers before we even asked plus a small bowl with lid for my grits. The food is always very tasty and well presented. On a sad note our server Daneka G was no where near par. As I wait for my 89 year old mother-in-law to slowly walk with her cane to the table Daneka just stood there with her arms crossed . No conversation what so ever. She took our drink order, mind you we are s party of 3 and she forgot one of our drinks. Never came by to check on us while we wait for our food. Passed by and grabbed my plate, good thing I was finished. She passed by again and was going to take my wife's plate but she wasn't finished. Went the other day - food was very good and plentiful. Son has been craving chicken and waffles - so we went to get a take out. I ordered shrimp and grits again - son ordered chicken and waffles and a side of fries. Shrimp & grits, still good - but it would be nice to have Florida and not farmed shrimp. Chicken and waffles, also very good - however - the one red sauce should come with a WARNING: SPICY HOT! The strawberry butter was very good as was the chicken and the waffles. Sadly, we did not get our fries! So, that was wasted money ... the food was fresh but son was curious about the fries ... very disappointed they were forgotten! The service was good (take out) - a little confusing ... I took a couple of menus for some people who were asking about the restaurant - and will hand them out, keeping one for us. This has been one of the best times at a restaurant I've had in a long time. The smell when you walk in is a dream. My fiancé and I sat at the "bar" area and got to see all the cooks and runners in action. You could tell amongst the usual restaurant buzz that there was good morale going on. After ordering our food and waiting a bit we were told there was an error with our order, but it would only take another few minutes to come out. The server, cook, and manager spoke with us at different times to explain the situation and make sure we were okay with what was happening. All were super personable, professional, and you could tell they wanted to make sure we were pleased and informed. Both our meals were beyond fantastic in taste! This location use to be a regular spot for me and my large family. We would spend thousands at this location yearly. Unfortunately, today was our last visit to this location as this location just started strict enforcement of masks and there are many restaurants that provide us food instead of health advice. Placed a to go order over the phone, the girl I spoke with was very helpful and didn't hesitate to repeat back the orders for me. Got to the diner and was asked my multiple servers if I was being helped. When the order came out it was wrong, however they had just opened the location so I didn't get upset by it, but they remade it very fast and gave me a voucher to come back. Was very excited to dine at this location. Our waiter was great, very attentive. The experience was tainted after seeing an employee handling my family's food. She merely dusted off the powdered sugar off of a waffle into the garbage (my daughters breakfast was halfway in the garbage) with her bare hands and proceeded to blow off any residual sugar. Placed it back on the plate and handed it to a server that watched her do it and put it in front of my kid. I was appalled simply because its careless and disgusting to handle someone's food like that and out in the open where the handling of the food is visible. I sent it back after clarifying with the waitress that my waffle was handled the way it was as she watched it happen and proceeded to still serve it to us. The manager handled the remainder of our dining experience with great empathy which we were appreciative of however, I cant say we are compelled to return. read more
