I also ordered onion rings instead of the French fries. The BLT was PHENOMENAL as ALWAYS. It's even BETTER when U add avocado.. The onion rings were piping hot and delicious. Stopped by this Metro Diner bc I got coupons at the Motor Enclave event. I tasted their meatloaf there and it was so tasty. This is only the second time at a Metro Diner. I went to one years ago in St. Augustine. I didn't remember what I ordered. This time I ordered a small order of shrimp and grits and my husband ordered the steak tips. We were delightfully surprised at how tasty they were. Our server was very nice and helpful. Only thing was it was a little bit hot inside. Perhaps due to the windows and the kitchen, and the A/C not working as well as it could have. That was the only thing that didn't make it perfect. It was a scorching May Day too. read more

I will start off saying I'm not crazy about chain restaurants, but the one thing that will have me coming back to one is consistency and that it is consistently good. Metro continues to give great food and service no matter where I go to one. My mom and I stopped for a quick breakfast before a long day and I didn't want to eat heavy so I ordered a breakfast sandwich and coffee. Well this sandwich I got was huge! I wanted a strong iced coffee so the waiter suggested their cold brew and it was amazing! Loved the taste and was wired all day. Needless to say I will be back to Metro soon. read more

not very good unfortunately the price was much better than the quality! I ordered a honey chicken biscuit and it tasted almost like they syrup mixed in with the honey. It was real watery. I have never ate a honey chicken biscuit sandwich where there's a pool of syrup at the bottom of the foam container they gave you. honey is thick. They didn't even wrap it in aluminum foil or wax paper or anything. just put it in the Styrofoam container so when you go to pick the chicken biscuit up, the biscuit, literally just crumbled and fell apart, because it was saturated with syrup and honey or whatever you want to call it. it definitely wasn't honey and if it was, it was watered down, cause it tasted more like syrup. And the chicken was very, very greasy like they needed to change their grease, the breading was almost black on certain parts of the chicken, you could taste the burnt grease. I also got Hash browns. I guess people haven't figured out to poke holes in the Styrofoam because it retains moisture and literally makes the fried food taste like rubber definitely will not be ordering from there again. read more

Overall, I left this place more disappointed than satisfied, even though there were a couple of small bright spots. I really wanted to like it, but the experience never quite came together for me. The first red flag was the coffee being served cold, which immediately set the tone. That kind of miss is hard to overlook, especially when coffee is such a basic expectation. The "home fries" were another letdown. Instead of anything resembling freshly cooked or pan-fried potatoes, they were clearly deep-fried, which felt misleading and lazy rather than comforting or rustic. As for the rest of the food, it was... fine. Nothing was outright bad, but nothing stood out either. The best way I can describe it is adequate, in the sense that it fills you up and does the job. Flavor-wise and presentation-wise, it felt like a slight step up from Denny's, which isn't exactly the bar I'm hoping for when I eat out. To be fair, the portions were decent, and the service was friendly enough, which kept the experience from being a total wash. Still, those small positives weren't enough to outweigh the overall sense that this place is coasting on mediocrity rather than trying to impress. I ordered breakfast from their all day menu. Food was at my table within five minutes. Most of it was cold. Biscuit was not as ordered. Waitress had biscuit corrected and hash browns warmed ... but by the time they were returned to me the rest of my breakfast was cold. Coffee was lukewarm. My waitress who was pleasant but inept, then abandoned me. Eventually I had to ask a different server for a to go box and check. Overall, my limited experience with Metro Diner was negative. Worst food experience ever. My son ordered the ribs and chicken $19.95, and it came with 2 dried-out chicken tenders and an extremely overcooked 1/3 rack of ribs. My burger was like a hockey puck, and it included onion, lettuce, and tomatoes. The tomato and lettuce covered 1/3 of the bun. When I asked for a larger slice of tomato and lettuce, the server noticed they had forgotten to give me the onion. The kitchen brought out the same pathetic-sized tomato and lettuce and pieces of onion, not a slice. It got worse: the handheld (burgers and sandwiches) menu states it includes a side, and below on the menu was a list of sides. I ordered an item off the side menu and was upcharged for the side. The server never told me there would be an upcharge, nor was there anything on the menu that indicated there could be an upcharge. I asked to speak with the manager/owner, and he tried to tell me they were right. I noticed the server's handheld ordering device listed each side, and there was a charge for every item. The upcharge issue could have been handled by having an asterisk stating the limited cost of the sides available. Honestly, too much bad taste in my mouth to go on. I feel strongly there's been a change in management, and food quality and service have suffered. read more

What happened to the manager, and the chefs? This is the place we come after every dr appointment in st Pete. Usually everything is top notch. I dont blame the server but this place needs help. People around me were also sending food back. My pancakes were cold, the coffee was awful. We had to get hot water just to drink it. No silverware, no syrup. The best thing was the new pancakes she had remade. Thank you for that. Just sad. Hopefully next time they will have a new manager to keep things running smooth. Okay, now I am surprised myself I am giving Metro Diner 2 stars. The first time hubby and I ate at a Metro Diner was about 7 years ago in Jacksonville, Florida. We ate breakfast there and really enjoyed our meal, our Grandkids were with us and they enjoyed it as well. This time the food was wayyyy too salty! I mean salty. My son and I ordered the fish and fries. Way to much salt in the seasoning. I tried my granddaughter's chicken fingers and they also was seasoned with too much salt. I tried my daughter-in-law avocado toast. I grew up eating avocado, a lot. The avocado on the toast did not taste like fresh avocado, tasted like it had some type of preserve on it, did not taste good at all. Holy cow were we happy with our meals. My girlfriend had never been there but I use to go to one in Indy all the time. I knew what I wanted the second we walked in...Chicken and Waffles!!! My husband toast was burnt, he never got his sausage and even after letting the waitress know the sausage never came. We made them aware as we were paying the bill. They did adjusted the price for not getting the sausage, however our waitress was ok not the usual friendly experience we always have with other servers. To the 'manager' on duty who thought it was ok to A) mock my order openly in an open kitchen environment and B) make his employees visibly uncomfortable by his comments Good job. I ordered toast and turkey sausage with Alyssa D who was lovely and amazing. My $12 order wasn't going to make her day and she didn't flinch. My toast came out with another server completely black and in my mind inedible. I asked if I could have (and I quote) 'not burnt toast'. I was (am as I write this) 5 feet from the kitchen. He grabbed the plate and loudly spoke (basically yelled) oh what does she want rye bread? So basically un toasted bread? Not black toast'. He goes on and on, got all the other kitchen members to laugh even though one was viably uncomfortable. After witnessing more of this and worse for how he treats people, I asked my server if he was always so 'charming'. She professionally shrugged and apologized for anything he did to offend me. Enough said. As Im talking to her he emerges from the kitchen to eaves drop but doesn't have the ...ahem ...gusto to approach me as a manager and part owner??
