Visited on a Thursday evening. It was very slow. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We had our choice of seats. We sat outside.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]They had fans to keep it cool.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The waitress was extremely nice. The food came out quickly and was pretty good.
[[HIGHLIGHT]]3 stars for the vibes.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Staff is friendly but the service is slow. Ordered the $27 grouper bites and it lacked seasoning. Good place to stop in for a drink and views.
A friend highly recommended this spot to me, so I decided to stop by for a quick bite -- and I'm so glad I did. This place is truly a hidden gem... emphasis on hidden! If you're driving, pay close attention because there's no sign on the main road. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Additionally there is a small foliage-covered pathway leading to the restaurant that makes you feel like you're going on an adventure.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Once you arrive, though, it's absolutely worth it. There's plenty of seating, including a beautiful area by the pier right on the water. The scenery alone makes for a great experience.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My table ordered from the happy hour menu: conch fritters, fish dip, fried shrimp, fried grouper, and two Key Lime Coladas. The total came to around $58, which felt very reasonable for the quality and portions. The standout for me was definitely the fish dip, but honestly, everything was fresh and delicious. The staff was friendly, attentive, and provided service with a smile throughout the visit. I'll definitely be back!
We had a fine January Florida Tiki lunch here, @Peter and I. We arrived just before 11am and the parking lot was already full! That's a good sign! There is overflow parking at the beach to the east. Upon checking in to ask for a table, I was asked for a phone number and I was surprised there was a waiting list already!? False alarm... we were seated immediately and given a choice of sun or shade. We picked shade! The tables are spread out and very comfortable, unlike many crowded or touristy places. Sarah was our waitress and she did a very fine job, handling my special ingredient requests (due to a strict doctor ordered diet) with grace. She checked on us but gave us time to chat. Excellent really. I got a mocktail of the bartender's choosing and blackened grouper bowl. The mocktail was tasty and not too sweet like I requested. The grouper portion was large, seasoned and not overcooked. It even came with a fun purple edible flower! We relaxed, enjoyed the breeze, enjoyed the view, and enjoyed our meal. Conversation flowed. Life is good with a tiki lunch in Florida in January!
3 stars for the food, 5 stars for the ambience = 4 stars for The Getaway. Elite Dave W chose this restaurant for our regular monthly get together because I mentioned Tiki at our last outing. Dave W's choices never disappoint. There is plenty of parking and most of it was full. At 11am on a Friday the place had a surprisingly lot of customers. This is a truly authentic Tiki Bar. Most places that advertise Tiki are just open air thatched huts. The Getaway is a large, sprawling, beach front property that winds its way around, among, and through the shady palm trees and thatched pavilions. The atmosphere is truly fantastic! We were offered a variety of seating options. We chose shady with a view of the water. We were led to a wood table with comfortable woven bamboo chairs. The only metal I saw was the silverware and half way hidden speakers. The view of the water included kayakers, small boats, and wooded islands. The January weather was kind to us: 75 degrees! The menu is eclectic. The food was only slightly above average, and the price a little more expensive: you pay for the ambiance. Sarah , our waitress, was cheerful and laid back. Everything about the Getaway is laid back. I ordered a Mai Tai, Calamari, and Volcano Shrimp. We were never rushed and had plenty of time for conversation. The tables are well spread out so you get a feeling of privacy even though there are 30 or so tables in sight, and another 20 or so tucked among the trees and tropical shrubs. The Getaway is a perfect place to show off the Florida vibe to out of town guests.

I stopped by today while I was out on my paddle board. I took a break to enjoy a rum runner and sat out on the dock. They have a great happy hour with food and drinks. The bartender gave me the happy hour menu and was very nice. I always have a great time at The Getaway.
The perfect afternoon 'getaway' and wrap up to our Tampa area vacation. [[HIGHLIGHT]]So many choices of seating...lush tropical restaurant dining, 2 Bayside bars, or a tiki hut on the sandy beach[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. A variety of food choices. The Chicken Cobb Salad was delicious. Large portion and fresh produce. Grouper sandwich was also a favorite. Definitely try their original lime margaritas . Very refreshing. There is a 5% service charge added which covers all the amenities offered on property. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Adirondack beach chairs dockside for watching the dolphins and yachts go by in the bay, sandy beach, wooden Bay side swings and get conversations at the bar are a few of the activities you can enjoy.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Should be a MUST VISIT locale when in Tampa Bay for sure!
This tropical restaurant exudes beachy vibes, offering stunning views and delectable food. Despite its spaciousness, the food arrived promptly, and our attentive server ensured a pleasant dining experience. For just $18, a 16oz Long Island iced tea is an excellent deal! I indulged in the soft shell crab sandwich, featuring two large, deep-fried crabs nestled within a brioche bun. It was simply delicious!
I've been here around 3 times before (typically with tourist friends) and every time I'm disappointed. This time, I was with an out of town friend who was looking for somewhere on the water to grab a bite as we were headed back from the St. Pete airport. Parking was not bad on a Friday afternoon. We were seated quickly and drink orders were taken quickly. It took a while for drinks to come out, and every longer for a food order to be taken. We had to ask multiple times for water refills. When food finally did come, my salad was good, but not worth $18 in my opinion. Then, we sat for so long waiting for our check, we had to flag someone else who was not our server for assistance. Overall, not worth the overpriced food and drinks and poor service just to sit on the water.
The view! We were seated quickly and had a table right in the water. We ordered drinks (weak) and apps to start. The brisket jalapeño poppers were good but spicy (maybe left seeds in). I would skip the conch fritters. Dinner was okay, nothing special. If I came back it would be for the views and a simple lunch.

Getaway: the perfect place to sit back, relax, and get scammed! Our group of 6 visited Getaway on a Sunday afternoon. It was packed, but they sat us right away and it was good vibes. Our waitress came over within about 5-10 minutes of us sitting down and we put our drink orders in. All was well, but we were starving so we got our food orders together pretty quickly. Things started to take a turn when we decided we would put our food order in as soon as we got our drinks. 30 minutes later we finally got our drinks and were able to put our food order in. At this point the vibes are still okay, we were a little like "oh no, why did the drinks take that long," but we are the LAST people to really be that bothered. When our waitress finally came back we put everything in and the vibes were back to great (hungry), but great. Food started to come out and one of the salads was supposed to be a wrap, another meal was just forgotten, but both were resolved super quickly, not a biggie at all. One of my friends ordered the "coastal chicken Cobb salad." It's important to really soak in the title of this $20 salad. When you look at the menu description, the first ingredient listed is literally "grilled chicken." So when her salad is placed in front of her, she mentions to the food runner (who had asked us if we needed anything else) that her coastal chicken Cobb salad didn't have any chicken on it. That's when he informs her that if she wanted chicken she had to have added it on and then walks away. We were a little shocked to hear this because who would think they need to ensure there is chicken on a salad titled coastal CHICKEN Cobb salad (that is already priced at $20). We decided we should chat with the waitress because there's no way the salad she ordered didn't come with chicken. When we finally get ahold of our waitress and flag the chicken-less coastal chicken Cobb salad, she informs us of the same thing: "well you had to have added it on." My friend responds with, "but it's in the title," and our waitress then states, "well in our system you have to click add chicken." Now we're all just kinda staring at her asking ourselves if we're the problem lol. She then asks if my friend would like a side of chicken, to which we say... yes... the whole reason for the $20 salad was that it had a protein. She brings the chicken and the vibes are back up, a little hesitant, but okay. Then the bill comes. Not only did they charge the $20 for the coastal chicken-less Cobb salad, but they also charged us $10 for the side of chicken. I took the bill and pulled our waitress to the side and explained that it was a little absurd to pay $30 for a salad. I pointed out that both of the Caesar salads were priced at $14 and the chicken add-on was an extra $4, so why would we pay $30 for this salad?! She was super nice and agreed to take off the $10 chicken. Great, problem solved! I paid the whole bill on my credit card, still left a 20% tip, and off we go. About 10 minutes after we leave and are driving back to our hotel, we get a call saying the card we paid with didn't have enough money on it and that we owe them $11, and they requested we return to pay the balance. The problem with this is that I paid with my credit card that was nowhere near its limit, so how could that possibly be the case? We called back right away but they never answered or called back. When we got back to the hotel I took a closer look at the receipt and noticed that the grand total was $316 after tax, but then further down the bill it shows a total of $328 (with no explanation of what the extra $12 is). I tipped on top of the $328 number, as it had suggested, which landed us at about $386 (which, looking back, wasn't even correct either but it was the suggested amount at the bottom of the bill). All in all, I checked a few days later and they only charged my card $316 and didn't even charge for the tip. Whack experience. Wouldn't recommend. Food was also meh

[[HIGHLIGHT]]There's no denying this place looks cool. The Hawaiian Tiki theme and bay setting truly transports you to a Polynesian island oasis. Bamboo, thatch roofs, tiki umbrellas and sand...it's all there.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] While we were very slow to be acknowledged after being seated, once we were, the service was on point! Orders were taken promptly and delivered in reasonable times. We all ordered from their specialty cocktail list, and we all agreed they were very good. My Miami Mule was one of the best I have had in a while. Fruit flavor was forward, you could actually taste the bite of the ginger beer, and they didn't skimp on the alcohol. While I didn't order food, the rest of my family did and they all enjoyed their meals. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The only downside was the bugs! BRING BUG SPRAY! The Getaway is all outdoor, located on the bay in the Mangroves, and it's home to biting insects. We were almost eaten alive by the tiny biting flies (noseeums, flying teeth). They were annoying as hell.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] While bugs come with the territory, a can of bug spray or a few citronella candles on the tables would be nice. read more
I came to the Getaway for a girls brunch recently. Parking is always a nightmare here, especially on a busy weekend. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We were promptly seated at a waterside table, luckily we had some shade![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was fun watching the boats and paddle boarders go by.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They have a variety of coffee drinks and cocktails for brunch. I decided to order the chicken and French toast, and it was a perfect combo of sweet and salty for breakfast. They also have a full lunch/dinner menu. If you're looking for a laid-back spot with a true tropical vibe, this place is a must-visit! The atmosphere instantly makes you feel like you're on a beach vacation--complete with sand seating, beautiful water views, and a breezy, island-inspired setup. I ordered the Island Pancakes, and WOW--easily some of the best I've had. Made with coconut milk and topped with coconut shavings, they were fluffy, flavorful, and had the perfect hint of sweetness. I definitely would recommend this place ! read more

I don't know how I had lived in Tampa, my whole life and had never heard of this place before but now that I've discovered it I'm obsessed! The food options are endless, they all taste amazing, the drink options are even more endless and are even more amazing, and the service is top-notch. Stopped by here with some girlfriends for dinner and we couldn't have enjoyed ourselves more. This is the perfect place to hang out with friends, go on a date, watch the sunset, dock, your boat, and grab drinks or food, and so much more. I'm already looking forward to going to this place again and showing people who come visit such a unique spot in the Tampa Bay Area! read more

My area was self service Ordered a drink and never got it . Was told they had no estimate time on when i would receive my drink ( yeah ) Clean rest rooms Would recommend. The getaway is a a nice waterfront restaurant tucked away off of Gandy in St. Pete. Upon arriving, parking is a little limited. There are signs indicating that additional parking is available but as a first timer I found that a little confusing. The atmosphere is amazing! Lots of tiki huts , tables in the sand, and even a little beach situation for small kids to play. The food was okay. I didn't love how you had to use the QR code and then walk up to order your own food at another station. The service was good but a little limited due to how you order. The food was okay. Not spectacular but appropriate for a waterfront seafood. read more

Food was mid. A side of fries is $6, the bowl was $26 for a single crab cake and what looked like 2 cups of rice, Cole slaw was not good on either of our meals, sweet potato fries were soggy... The food in the service was great imperfect for breakfast. I enjoyed the jalapeño popper hash with eggs. The jalapeños are a little spicy and filled with brisket. They are also wrapped in bacon. My friend loved her grouper tacos. It's the perfect place to bring somebody right after they get off the plane or anytime you need a getaway.. Angelica was awesome read more

First, this is a beautiful spot, lush and tropical right on the water. Second the food was really good, just a few notes. I ordered the lobster tail toast, which was their take on an eggs Benedict I'd say, and the lobster came fried. Don't know why anyone would fry lobster and I don't know that it stated that on the menu, I would NOT have ordered it had I known. It was ok, but definitely would have been 100% better not fried. Mostly all I could taste was breading. My husband got the coconut French toast and it was great. My only other issue was we arrived right after it opened and it looked like someone had sprayed the bathroom down with a hose, everything was soaked, even the toilet seats which was a bit gross and decidedly uncomfortable as I did not notice until after I sat down. read more
We came here for my mother in law birthday, and it was very good, the vibe and the drinks are unbeatable, I'm still thinking on that piña colada! It was so good! We shared a couple appetizers and they were good, not the best food ever but it was decent, it's a great place to come and chill with your friends and have a nice view of the sunset. We ordered the wings, the tuna tataki and the tuna tartare, wings were very good actually! And the other 2 dishes that we ordered were good but kind of forgettable to be honest. We were seating by the beach where they have a cabana where you have to go and order everything! That's totally fine with me but some people don't like that, they still bring all the drinks and food to your table, which is totally fine, but be aware of it. They offered plenty of parking spots, and as I said before the vibes are pretty nice! I'm coming back for sure to get those pinas coladas again! read more

This place is a solid choice! The setup is a bit different since you don't have a server (you order at a kiosk and give them your table number) but the food came out fast and the staff was super friendly. Regarding drinks: I got a margarita, which was just okay, but after trying my friend's piña colada, I kinda wished I had ordered that instead. Food was decent overall shrimp tostadas had plenty of shrimp but were a little too acidic for my taste. On the other hand, the tuna tataki and the wings were really good! The food was decent the grouper appetizer was good, but there is an excessive amount of bees because I don't think they are cleaning around the restaurant enough... and this is the $11 pineapple rum cake. I had to do a double take and ask them but it is in fact. Update: I ate the rum cake and it tasted like what a pet store smells like. read more
Let me first start by saying, the ambiance of the Bay View and seating is amazing. It was an absolutely beautiful day when we went, and was very busy. We waited probably closer to an hour to get a table for two. We walked along the piers and glared at the boats and we actually did see two manatees in the water go underneath the pier. That was kind of exciting. The food was very good and the people we dealt with were nice. My issue with the restaurant is the cost especially with no server. Two Bloody Marys were $28 before any tip. When we finally got sat, we're told use the QR code to see the menu and then you go to a cabana to order. So they have food runners and bar runners but not actual servers. I was a little put off by that. So there's no getting water refills while you're eating or anything like that. Then our food was served to us with no silverware and the taco dish came with rice. Whatever, I wasn't really concerned about the rice. I love the area especially since you can get into the water with paddle boards and kayaks and such and I would go back for that purpose and maybe get a coffee from the next door neighbor but this is not a place that I would go back to eat. read more
Great location with water view. Lots of outdoor seating by the water. The food was decent and portions small for the price. The server are nice but service is slow. There is 5% service fee (for location/property maintenance) and groups of 6 and above there is a 20% gratuity. Even if serve is slow and lacking. read more

What a beautiful place right on the water, you can't ask for better views! When visiting Tampa, I went here for brunch on my birthday. I'm so happy with our experience! I ordered the crab cakes on sourdough and they may have been some of the best crab cakes I ever had. The potatoes were crisp and seasoned super well. We shared the coconut French toast which had the most phenomenal texture and sweetness, served with berries and tasty whipped cream. My only note would be that the coconut flavor could've been stronger, but overall it was still one of the yummiest French toasts I've had in a while. Definitely a somewhat hidden gem! The ambiance, water views, boats, and relaxation? Can't beat it! I had a lavender margarita, which was great! Service was prompt and quick. It's also right on the gandy beach, which is great for a nice stroll or hangout before or after your getaway visit! I definitely recommend! read more

Nice location aside from gandy beach being gross still, I walked two min from the restaurant and there were a dozen dead birds along the water. Confused about their "dog friendly" status if they have a sign at the hostess stand that says dogs only allowed Tuesdays? They allowed me and my dog to sit at the beach as it was a Sunday .... I wasn't super hungry and just wanted a latte - their lattes are not lattes. Lattes are espresso and milk by definition. They only have cold brew, no espresso. I ordered their coconut pineapple smoothie and was told about the 5% gratuity added to all orders and my total for a 12oz smoothie was $14.52. Incredible. I won't be back. Nice people but the prices are too steep and policies confusing. read more

There aren't any out in the beach and dock area but maybe some under the tiki bar.
Hi! Just moved to the area ana stopped for lunch today. I saw a boat pull up and dock while I was eating, with COVID I was wondering if is that an option to dine at restaurant ? I'd love to come by jet ski or boat...
