Review: I haven't been in for a while, but this visit reminded me why it's still one of my absolute favorite spots. The Hobo soup is just as great as I remembered, and the blackened pork chop was cooked to perfection. You also can't go wrong with the sides--the pickled beets are fantastic, and they truly serve one of the best potato salads around. And don't even get me started on the biscuits; they are incredible. Hubs found this place and we stopped here to eat breakfast after leaving our hotel. I got the sense this was a locals place. Excellent food, chaotic fun atmosphere with a bustling staff. Loved the staff shirts embracing their one star review for slicing toast diagonal! May have seen Jack, there was a gregarious man who's tats matched the sports theme memorabilia in the place and he was taking the time to chat with the elderly couple next to us. I'm very new to the area and this restaurant was recommended by a couple of people. When I got there, it was super busy, but I was able to get a place at the counter since I was by myself. I ordered the Amy's breakfast smile because it was what I wanted and because I'm Amy. :) I asked for a side of gravy for the biscuit. Huge portions. When I got it, I thought it was tasty, It's eggs and ham, etc. but the GRAVY!! That changed everything. I poured that stuff on the whole plate. It was fantastic. The best gravy I've ever had. It does get busy there on the weekends and can be a bit crowded inside but it's totally worth the wait. Staff always seems happy and helpful. I ordered Jack's SOS. It was better than I used to have delivered, because the styrofoam package is only so big. Still the same great taste. The food came almost immediately. Of course, it was all precooked. Even the coffee was great. Last time I was here I was too young for coffee. I'll be turning 70 in a couple of months. There's parking in this location. The space is very nice and homie. They are very busy every time we come but we have not experienced any wait lines as of yet. The staff is super nice and friendly. I have been here about three times now and I enjoy every time. Ofc is not perfect every time. But more times than not it is pretty good. The food is very nice. I have had a lot of issues finding a good liver and I think I found it. LIVER BREAKFAST- I love the liver here. Even if I am not a fan to the fact that they bread it. I do enjoy the liver flavor here. It is cooked perfectly. The only thing I must say is that my eggs were so raw I was scared of them. The place is nice and the overall experience was pretty good. It's always a friendly atmosphere when you walk into the spot,- a little off the beaten path so well worth the drive. My friend and I had corned beef hash, eggs over medium with potatoes and also the shrimp and grits. I've been craving both of these meals for the last 48 hours, I don't know what got into me! Skyway Jax never disappoints- the grits were cheesy and creamy and melted in my mouth the shrimp season to Southern perfection. I asked for my corned beef hash to be crispy and it was perfect even the eggs perfect temperature at medium. Skyway Jacks is a solid breakfast spot. If you're an early bird and like to beat the rush, this place opens super early. Service has always been friendly and done with a smile. The last two times we've been they actually have 1/2&1/2 for coffee. Before that it was that reconstituted chemical stuff and I'm not drinking that. First of all it's terrible in my coffee and it's also terrible for you. Kudos for finally get it. People want the real thing in their coffee. I've never had anything but a good breakfast here so I don't understand all the detractors and negative comments. Nor do I find the place dirty like one person said. The new owner had kept the same great food. Pancakes are my favorite. Moist, sweet batter (not to sweet) and no maple syrup that's not watered down to go with them. Today I enjoyed the shrimp and grits. I ordered my shrimps blackened. They were cooked perfectly. It also had tomatoes and mushrooms grilled and full of flavor. I'm a gravy person for grits so would have a liked a little more sauce to it but over all the meal was really good and a lot. I had not expected to see wall-to-wall Steelers decor but I was very pleasantly surprised by that when I walked in. Food was terrific! So happy to see they had Taylor's Pork Roll on the menu; it's so hard to find outside of New Jersey. Eggs were perfectly cooked and I think I ate the best home fries I've ever had. Delicious! The staff was really great. I loved that they all seemed to work so well together. Our primary server was Kimberly B and she is an absolute gem. I'd like to have left an unequivocally excellent review for this place, which is almost (though not quite) 100% totally traditionally American/Americana-esque. Howso? - The cooking was phenomenal for down-home fare, with fresh ingredients, performed by one lone magician in the back, managing multiple grills with aplomb. - The service, in my case at any rate, was attentive, swift, positive-spirited, with about as formal/professional-whilst-friendly one could hope to expect from the younger generation (a little "too" friendly, at points). - The location itself is festooned with, among other things, Pittsburgh sports paraphernalia which, though having grown up in Cleveland for a time making the experience somewhat masochistic, nonetheless lends an authentic regional American charm. - They open up bright and early, when all other locales are too grand to be bothered, and all are welcome/welcomed. So, why just the two stars? While the waitress who attended basically the entire room on her own, which filled up to the rafters before my meal was done was as described above, her colleague, who arrived Lord knows when, was from a different dimension entirely, both in her inefficiency, as well as her tactless, discourteous brashness, directed at myself and others. My wife and I have only just arrived from NYC, and yet it seems the more disappointing traits of the Bronx followed us down to Florida in the form of this person's mouth. So, that shot dead the potential positivity of the experience, and as well as shot dead Skyway Jack's being my/our morning haunt for our months'-long time down here in the Tampa Bay area. read more

They were pretty jam packed Saturday morning but if you don't mind sitting at the bar, that's first come first serve which we snagged no problem. The menu offers breakfast and lunch. We went with your traditional breakfast; waffles, bacon, eggs and biscuit with every bite tasting homemade. The biscuits were fluffy, fresh and pretty decent in size. The different homemade jams that are easily assessable brought it home for me. Delicious touch. Great atmosphere. Home cooked eats. And attentive service.
