Went here for dinner Thursday night. The food was excellent and the portions were generous. Our server Jennifer was not having a good day. She was very snippy with us and other tables. We went after early Easter Mass and it was crowded even then. However, the managing of the entire movement of their clientele from giving your party to the hostess to the payment of your bill is a smooth efficient flow. And the food is very delicious and quickly delivered. The California eggs Benedict were perfection as were the home fries. Will be a repeat customer for sure. read more

I know people rave about the food at this place, so I have to question these people in terms of their experience with good food. Metro Diner is profoundly mediocre. This is the second time I have eaten here and once again, it was bland and uninspired. The pasta for the chicken parm was overdone. The chicken parm was overdone as well. The sauce was bland. I was impressed their breakfast was better than expected. I have to admit I frequent another locale for breakfast which is my ultimate favorite but I will visit Metro again. I honestly expected greasy sausage, home fries, etc. I was shocked how clean the food was. Coffee much better than some other breakfast places. We enjoyed our first visit .Everything was fresh and delicious. I loved my big eggy fluffy waffle. My husband enjoyed his unique croissant french toast was also eggy and fluffy. Fun date. Prices are good... very crowded. Chief complaint is there is almost nothing on the menu for a vegetarian except maybe eggs or avocado toast. My mom and I came here for lunch earlier this week. This place is meticulously clean and the staff are all very hospitable and service was excellent! The food was yummy too. My mom had 1/2 sandwich (chicken salad) and a cup of chili, and said both were very good. I had a chicken salad sandwich as well and some very tasty house made chips. The unsweetened raspberry iced tea was also good and refreshing. This will be a regular spot for us when visiting Venice! read more

Let me start by saying that our server last night was excellent! It was his first day, but he had a great attitude and wonderful sense of humor that made our visit enjoyable - I give him 5 stars! I wish I could say the same for the food. My husband ordered the Chicken Fried Steak special. He was disappointed by the extremely small steak that was heavily over-breaded in soggy, yet burnt breading, then drenched in a large amount of tasteless gravy. I ordered the Monte Cristo Sandwich. Not like any Monte Cristo I've had before, the thin slices of ham and turkey and American (ugh!) cheese were laced between 3 very large slices of bread, then dipped in a Tempura batter and fried. There was so much bread and batter, I hardly noticed the filling. If you have fond memories of the Monte Cristo sandwich served at Disneyland, this isn't remotely close. While it is true that they serve mammoth-sized portions, I would prefer smaller portions and better quality. read more

We ate at Metro Diner last Sunday evening in Venice, Fl. It was pretty busy but got seated quickly. My brother ordered the southern fried steak and I ordered the Bisel Breakfast. The eggs and the potatoes were great, the pancakes however not so much. Who ever was making the pancakes cooked them on the same grill I suppose they were using for seasoned meats or something because they were very dark on the bottom and tasted just like garlic. Just awful. My brother was really enjoying his meal until he found a HAIR. Needless to say he was finished at that point. I was just expecting much better after reading other reviews. IF you are going to serve pancakes in the evening please please cook them on a different griddle and if you are doing that then why did mine taste like garlic??? Disappointing. read more

Many people seem to like this Venice location. I don't. I think they like it because one of the things positive reviewers always mentioned is that you get a lot of food. I don't like to confuse quantity with quality. I think the food at Metro Diner is mediocre at best. I have eaten here a total of four times and each time I have been more disappointed than the last time. The food is under salted and seasoned. Maybe they do this on purpose for people who must control their sodium intake. If this is the case it should noted clearly on the menu so people know not to expect much flavor. The manager is always offering to "make it right" but that would require me to teach them how to cook certain dishes so that they have flavor. And I think when I go to a restaurant they should just know how to make the dishes so that they have flavor. There's no way he can make it right because the food is just not very good and that's the way it is. Some people like large quantities of bland food and that's fine. I don't read more

my wife and i went to the metro diner in venice fl. for the first time. my wife broke her leg and is wheelchair bound. (this did not happen here). the staff seen me with the wheelchair and opened the door for us right away. the staff was very kind and caring to our needs. they seated us immediately and within a very short time our order arrived. needless to say we were pleasantly surprised. the food was superb, the portions were indeed very generous, and our server was one of the best that we have ever had. so much so that i asked to speek to a manager about how great our experience was. in short i will tell you this ,"you just won't beleive what great food they serve here". i must also state that i honsetly thought that the food was so good that surley the metro diner must not be chain,but was i wrong ! the food is fresh and has that southern home made taste. it is just to good to be a chain,but it is! luckly for us that the metro diner is owned and operated by floridians and really do cater to our tastes. please try this place, you will come away with a full belly and a warm and fuzzy feeling of contentment, and will alreay be planning your next visit before you lwave the parking lot!!!! read more

had a wondeful dinner tonite after a movie. we did not wait long for a table, but seems like the waitress forgot we were there. after mentioning the extra long wait to the Manager, he came over to us to apologize. so nice! the meals were absolutely wonderful. three of us had the fish and chips, which were light, hot and delicious! my husband had a ruben - one of the best he said he ever had. the portions were plentiful and noone went home with any extra room. thank you Metro Diner for being so caring. we will most definately return! read more
