It's where the locals eat! It has the traditional diner feel that you would have found in every town across America during the 1960s, but completely modernized and clean for the standards of today. In general, I'd say that this is a simpler menu, which tells me the food is fresh. Our breakfast was enjoyable and by the time we left, the restaurant was packed. We keep coming back to Metro Diner! It isn't just the Bissell breakfast or fantastic cheesy grits that have made us regulars...we always request a favorite server we have come to adore. Megan goes above and beyond, especially for our picky 6 year old. She always knows how to put in the order so my daughter gets exactly what she likes. I like metro diners food for the most part, but they are always dirty. No attention to the stinky carpet, the booths and chairs tend to be sticky - yuck! We really wanted to like this place. Our first dinner here consisted of a French dip sandwich plus onion rings and a Philly cheesesteak, both of which were prepared perfectly. Second visit, a superbly done meat lovers omelette and a very over cooked fried shrimp platter drenched in grease. The shrimp had turned into tight little rubber balls, but since our waitress never returned there was no chance to complain about it. Third visit, an extremely salty turkey dinner platter accompanied by limp summer squash swimming in so much grease it was inedible, plus a fried chicken platter (no waffles) that was supposed to consist of "half a chicken" but had only one small thigh and, eventually, a drumstick. Since when is two pieces a half a chicken? At first it was just one thigh, but only when my husband complained did the wait staff eventually bring the second piece. End result: Wait service is hit or miss here here despite all the staff running around. The consistency of the food is the main disappointment. $15.49 for a two piece chicken dinner is awfully steep. And (clearly deli meat, not "oven roasted" as described) a thin sliced dry turkey dinner that contains too much salt to eat it is unacceptable at any price. We may return to Metro Diner for an omelette or sandwich some day, but it probably won't be anytime soon. Note: I usually do not respond to comments left by restaurants regarding my reviews, but supposing the management of Metro Diner was sincere in wanting more details, I wrote to the email address listed in their comment but received no reply. read more

Three stars because the food was decent, I had the Habenero Chicken with green beans and mash potatoes. Potatoes were nice and lumpy, maybe prepacked maybe not. Palatable though. Green beans were steamed well, and the chicken was great with the sauce. But now let's get to the other two stars, hostess was pleasant! My server was sweet too but not attentive enough for someone else to bring my food out. Whomstever brought my food out asked me if I needed anything else, I said the check. Ten minutes later and the food eaten, still no check. Don't keep me waiting on a request, you weren't THAT busy. Been to way busier and way less staffed restaurant's and they had their stuff together. Irritated and ready to go, I'm a busy person, I go inside and request the check from same said male(red haired with a beard) and he gives me an attitude and slaps my card back down when down ringing me up. Bad move, I'd of done something if I wasn't feeling so pleasant. Don't act hard when you're not, asshat. The hostess was rude seating us when we asked for an empty booth .made us go back to the front while she walked away and then finally cleaned off a few coffee cups . The waitress was also very rude it was if they were all having an argument with each other even with the cooks . Finally got our food very greasy the food was not as fresh and tasty as it usually is. The waitress never came back to ask us if we needed any refills or anything else. The only time she had a conversation with us was what it was time to give out the final bill. Listen, you absolutely MUST try this if you're craving something sweet or just looking to upgrade your usual pancake order. But, be warned: these pancakes are huge! I had to take the second pancake home, because there was no way I could finish it in one sitting (as much as I wanted to). The service is incredibly friendly and really makes you feel at home. It was awful! I had had their avocado toast before. A few years ago. So I thought I'd get it again. Big mistake. The website shows a picture of fresh, chunky avocado on the multi grain toast. Not anymore! Now they use an avocado spread, like what you would get if you bought a tub of guacamole. Ugh. It was disgusting. On top of that, the waitstaff was terrible. No one seated me for the longest time, then they were going to seat another couple before me when I had been there longer! The waitress who waited on me was very inattentive. Great location. It looks brand new here. The joint is modern and welcoming. The staff is friendly and there were no real issues while we were there. The food was on point and the prices are the same as their other locations. All in all, a good joint. Bottom Line: If you like Metro's other locations then you will love this one also. Went for breakfast on Father's Day, no reservations. Worried there would be a big wait, but no wait at about 10 am. Tables are close together, but not an issue. Server was friendly. Food was good.
