In the food service business, first impressions are make or break. In my first visit, it was definitely broken. Service was beyond slow...the room was maybe 1/2 capacity and our entire ordeal took 1.5 hours. The manager did stop by and did express concern...for what it's worth. The food was average, fair for the price. But how does a diner run out of baguettes? Hello, Wawa and Subway have little bread ovens so there is no reliance on suppliers...the roast beef was dry/over cooked and not trimmed properly, the au jus (when it finally arrived) was over-salted. My wife reported that the salmon was good, although not blackened as ordered. The couple next to us had it even worse...one entree came out, the second came out at least 15 minutes later... If the 2500 calorie chicken & waffles is your thing, then maybe this is the place for you. Wanted to try out the new diner in town, kids are in school, so I went for it. The wait staff was super nice and attentive, no issues there. The food came out fast and hot. I would of preferred to wait a few extra minutes in exchange for accuracy of my order. I ordered the home fries and received hash browns, the staff was quick to resolve that issue... I should've stayed with the hash browns though because the home fries were not great... very bland. I then realized I ordered sourdough toast and received rye, no biggie, so I didn't say anything. I ordered eggs over medium, they were cooked fine but had a lot of excess oil or butter sitting on the top of them. My original order would of been the avocado toast but they were out of avocados. Overall, just a typical diner that needs some time to work out its kinks. I will try again with my family, and update my review. read more

I wish I could give negative stars. I am DISGUSTED by what I saw.I sat at the bar so I could see the kitchen and I ordered a burger. A man started cooking my burger and put my bun on the stove with gloves on, about 1 minute later a girl walked into the Kitchen and bare handed touched the buns to flip it, then walked over to the deep fryer dumped sausages into a metal bowl and started EATING OUT OF IT. After eating the sausages in the kitchen she walked back over and started touching someone else's food. I asked for a manager told him the situation and he said she knows better because this is a recurring issue. If you don't mind people eating over your food before it's served to you then try your luck, but if you like as little saliva in your food then avoid this restaurant at all cost. read more

I really enjoyed my breakfast here today. I decided to write a review bc we almost didn't come bc of the reviews that talked about slow service. It was not the case AT ALL! We had the nicest waitress Ariel who was friendly, and brought everything out very quickly and the food was hot. Its a cute and clean atmosphere. I got the BLT and my mom had a breakfast sandwich and hash browns that she said were delicious. I will come back to try some of the other options. First time in Metro Diner. Concord Pk. Waitress was friendly. Same waitress we had that greeted us in was our waitress. We sat down for our Dinner for the night. We eat early 4:30pm. Diner was good, Been to many Diners in our lifetime. Married over 40yrs Anyway, The waitress came up to us for drinks. We said water was fine. Then I asked , The coffee you have is Jamaica coffee, She said no we have other coffee, Reg and decaff also. So we proceeded to order our dinner. after dinner We usually get asked if we would like coffee & Desert, NOTHING. The waitress came over and handed us the check. She says Ty. walked away. Mind you there was sweets on the Chalk board right in front of us that had sweets on it. I was the one who asked about the coffee when we got in there. So we looked at each other and said I guess they don't have anything else because waitress never asked if we wanted coffee or desert. So on the way out I stopped the waitress and asked her, Why would you not ask any of us if we wanted desert. She said well its early in the day and that's a morning thing. We normally don't do that. I told her. I was a Waiter way back in the days, Always ALWAYS ask people for DESERT, The bigger the bill the bigger your tip is. Get it. She must have forgot about that. After all of our explaining, There was no Apologize. at all. I have always loved Metro Diner since i went to Florida. I was amazed at my service. The team works well with each other. They are very loving to each other. My server was Serene and oh my god! I love her. She anticipates everything i need and want. She always joked with us, and you can genuinely know she loves her job and working with people. I had the chicken and waffles! Ordered Cream Chip Beef on toast, wife ordered eggs Benedict. Both arrived cold, the toast was ice cold and covered with Luke warm chipped beef. They said they would put in a new order. We watched while the food was put up for service, another server took the eggs Benedict, after 8 minutes they reordered but left the cream chipped beef sitting, after 13 minutes they took it back, dumped on some more and brought it to the table. You could see the color difference after sitting under the lights and then adding more, the toast was mush. The manager came over and I explained, he denied until I told him I watched them take it back, he offered to make another, we had been there 40 minutes so we said no we just wanted to eat. They didn't charge but that isn't the point, the food sucked, the service was sloooow, the whole thing was a waste and now my stomach is bubbling from having eaten lukewarm/bad food. Portions are large but the taste and quality suffers - in the same amount of time you could run down the street to a competing restaurant, eat, come back and still be waiting for your food. The staff realizes their limitations (definitely not blaming them for being short handed) but then their passive aggressive jokes towards the customers about the wait time doesn't help their case. read more

I've come here a few times now with my family and have been satisfied every time. They always have daily specials up on the board that sound good and the menu is small but it's not lacking variety. We've been to another Metro location once and it was just okay, we prefer the Concord Pike location. They have a good kids menu. My son likes the silver dollar pancakes. Open kitchen concept which is nice and we've always been sat in a booth, which we also like. The food and service has always been super fast. They've been great about drink refills, etc. And everything on the menu is reasonably priced. I've had breakfast, lunch & dinner off their menu and was happy with all of it. So to start; this is my third time here. First time was opening week and I thought it was the amazing. Couldn't wait to come back. But unfortunately it's been absolutely down hill since. My second time here I gave benefit of the doubt when I waited for my food for well over an hour but ended up sending my sausage gravy back because it has a fishy taste (which the manager tried the batch. Three serves and a manager (albuerto; he didn't introduce himself just over heard him say it )on duty. Well after ordering and waiting a full hour for the food mine well described burger gave out with absolutely nothing on it- which was brought out by another waitress and she dropped it and left; had to flag down someone who worked here to let them know my burger was made incorrectly. She notified the manager who was currently dealing with another costumer complaint that I Over heard he waited for fish and chips for more than an hour for.. he gave her a coupon to give to us for my meal but had to wait for my food for another 20 minutes and the remade burger came out cook incorrectly AGAIN I wouldn't recommend this place unless you like waiting an hour. Hour and a half when it's empty and not being treated like a costumer - God forbid you send food back. It says "Diner" and nothing says diner like dessert. You know what I mean....fluffy pies and cakes! So one night we went in for dessert. Around 6pm we were seated and left to our menus. We couldn't find dessert on the menu. Eventually a server came and said "we rarely, if ever, have dessert". He didn't even try and interest in anything else on the menu. Very strange. So we left and went down the street to a diner that serves diner food, including dessert. Won't return. read more

I gave it a three-star and not a two-star because the staff were very nice and friendly. The place was clean. However the food was mediocre at best. I got the cheesy grits that were unseasoned with a wad of unmelted cheese just dropped in it. The pancakes, not sure how you can mess this up, they tasted very strange. 4 people tried the same pancake and agreed. One of my major complaints is the butter they served. I could tell that they don't cover it up in the fridge. It has that unpleasant taste. The server confirmed that they do not wrap it up. I was also told that they cook with margarine because butter is too expensive. Margarine should not even be legal considering its one molecule away from being plastic. I have no desire to return. After an hour and forty five minutes, we left a breakfast that one person didn't get the meal because it came out as hard boiled eggs instead of eggs Benedict and our daughter only got half of what she ordered. Still managed to cost us close to $20. Waitresses were understaffed and tried to take off the items that were screwed up, however, we were told that thre owner and manager were there and no one offered to apologize or talk to us. So .. this morning. It's insanely busy. But a counter spot opens up. Great! Only a 15 minute wait. Order corned beef hash extra crispy . My wife got San Fran Benny. Coffee is just ok. We wait 35 minutes. It comes out. My wife's Benny has broken hollandaise sauce. The avocado was over ripe the ham not really heated. Her eggs were right! Mine came out blonde. Not even light brown. It wasn't even hot. I sent it back. I was at the counter so I could watch. They put it back on the grill 6-7 minutes. Then in the window. There it sat for another 5 minutes until I ask to server yo get it for me. It still wasn't the way I wanted but what the hell. Cut in to my eggs . Hard boiled?? My English muffin was cold. I gave up and asked for a check. The server saw how unhappy I was and sent the manger over. He apologized and picked up the check. I didn't need him to do that. What I needed was breakfast. They have now ruined two mornings. I'm not that picky. I swear! They had the hash browns today and they are great. But to be honest I can't see going back. read more
