They did a bad job in installing a floor. The stair tread came off in less than two years.

We had Metro Floors replace our home's upstairs carpet with hardwood flooring. Metro offered highly competitive pricing, quality products, good workmanship, and on-time installation. The reason I've rated them 4 stars instead of 5 is because of their initial unresponsiveness and long delay in providing a quote. When I initially contacted Hayri via Yelp, he called me right away to set up a measuring appointment. Unfortunately, he then forgot to mark our appointment on his calendar, and was over an hour late for our appointment. He was very apologetic, and then promised to provide a quote within 4 days. It took him nearly two weeks to provide the quote, after multiple emails. Hayri ultimately provided an extremely competitive quote, and despite our disappointment with his responsiveness, we rolled the dice because of his price and rave reviews on Yelp. We made a good call. Hayri's team finished our hardwood flooring installation a week ahead of schedule, and overall, it looks great. There was one issue, and he sent one of his employees out to fix it (though it took a couple weeks for him to come). That said, they corrected their error with no pushback and were very polite and professional about the whole thing, which we appreciated. Overall, Metro Floors did good work for us. If you can handle off and on radio silence, and getting a good price for high quality flooring and installation is a priority for you, Hayri is a good choice. read more

Disappointing to go from a 5 star review to and update of 2 stars. Almost nine years later, the carpet I was so in love with had unglued in several spots in various rooms. Meaning, there were rolls/bumps on parts of the rug that separated from the flooring underneath. We had to hire someone to come in to re-stretch the carpet and re-glue. Translation. Move ALL the furniture out of the rooms and pray it all gets done in one day before we bring our toddler home from day care. Oh and taking a day off from work to he home for this. Then part two. Discovered the bamboo flooring we adored was completely discolored when we move our area rugs. Our condo does not get direct sunlight. We were told the wood was cheap and poor quality. Great. The only fix was to, again, move everything out, replace the flooring, get everything cleaned up before our toddler came home. Another day off from work. Oh and then of course dusting EVERYTHING because of what flew all over the house from the wood flooring being cut to fit with a saw. We had all this done before we moved in none years ago. We shouldn't have had to go through all this in less than nine years. Retracting my previous recommendation. read more

No nightmares with Metro Floors. It was all so easy. We worked with Hayri to install flooring and received a very, very fair deal. Overall, it was the best business to work with because we got quality service, installation, and product- no confusion or shoddy installation. After all, time is money. At another flooring store, we picked out a flooring and were later told that it was discontinued- what a waste of time! This delayed the project because we had to search for another store that knew what it was doing. Hayri is a very honorable and knowledgeable businessman. Plus, he was so understanding of our crazy schedule. Metro Floors is also open on Saturdays, which is very rare in this town!! We had initially wanted to work with Linda at Pioneer, but she gets booked quickly because of high demand. After we picked out the flooring at Metro, Hayri came to confirm measurements before he dashed off to an important family dinner. We could have scheduled it for a later date, but he wanted to save us all time and clinch the deal. On the same day, he e-mailed us the invoice. Also, he was able to complete our HOA application (although you should do it by fax instead of e-mail because we couldn't open some of his files). If he did not pick up the phone himself, we'd leave a message and get a call back from him in a very timely manner. No jerking around. As for the installation, his installers came on Saturday and did a top-notch job. We were told it would take all day for the job, but they finished everything super early. They're pros! read more

Save yourself a headache and use these guys. Metro floors did beautiful work on my condo's formerly carpeted 17 stairs and 700 sq ft. upstairs all the while providing professional and smooth customer service. Hyrie has a large selection of hardwood, many moons of experience, a warm personality and a practical approach. E.g. he was the only supplier who dragged my samples to a sunny area for inspection in his showroom. Also, he under-promised and over delivered on the time budget by several days! Early construction completion....what?! I had five different contractors look at my hard wood project. Hyrie was by far the most professional and trust inspiring of the lot. He appraised the job the day I requested it and had a clearly written turn-key bid in my email box that night. He remained in contact with me throughout, usually being the one to initiate check ins and provided me with his cell phone number which he answers (again...what?). He wasn't the cheapest and he wasn't the very highest but the more I experienced unprofessional customer service from the competition, sanity outweighed price on my priority list and I knew I'd chosen the right guy even before the work began. Things I got from the other guys: unreturned phone calls/emails, failure to provide promised written bid, confusing bid, errors on bid, subcontracting installer poaching attempt, false pretense of knowing legitimate answers to stuff. I'm glad they showed me their true colors so I could run for my life....to Metro Floors! read more

We wanted to replace the builder-grade carpet and laminate wood floor in our rental condo with hardwood and the required carpet in the bedroom (per HOA rules), and had time constraints too because we're moving back to SF from across the country. We met Karen during our first trip to the showroom, and they had exactly the kind of wood and carpet we wanted, and the pricing was fair based on other stores and similar grades of materials. Whether we worked with Karen, Jaleh or Hayri, they were all aware of our order and worked with us quickly to meet the condo HOA requirements (i.e. certificate of insurance)--all over the phone while we were in a different state. The installers--Devrim and Manuel for the wood flooring, and David for the carpet--were all professional, friendly and extremely efficient and thorough with their work. The carpet was installed a week after the new wood flooring and baseboards were installed and painted, and I was very nervous about damage to the baseboards which would require spackling/repainting/more mess, but David was so careful that there was not a scratch on the new baseboards. And as a aside, these guys work REALLY hard, and it is messy, physically strenuous work--be nice to them, buy them lunch, and take good care of them, and they will take care of you. Next time we need flooring/carpeting, we will definitely go back to Metro Floors. read more

Poor installation on wall-to-wall carpet, and no interest in addressing the problems. They installed carpet in three locations. Stair installation was fine, but the other two had problems. One, where carpet meets wood flooring, carpet was not tucked, creating an unfinished edge and a tripping hazard. In another room, they did not properly estimate the height so that it was below the height of the adjoining floor and exposed old baseboard paint job around the perimeter. If you have expertise in carpet installation, which I do not, you could probably avoid these issues by asking the right questions ahead of the installation. After 1 visit to the store, and two follow up calls, it became clear they are not interested in addressing the installation problems. Prices seem good on carpet in stock, and floor sales staff is friendly, just be careful on the installation! read more

We had an excellent experience working with Guray from Metro Floors! Guray helped us pick floors for a condo we were getting ready for sale. Guray is very knowledgable and really helped us understanding the different options we could go with. We also had quite a few constraints in terms of schedule and Guray provided absolutely stellar customer service throughout. He was very flexible in working with our dates and pushing on his contractors to make things work for us. When the work was done Guray came in personally to check-out the place and worked with his team to make sure we were 100% satisfied. My husband and I had one of their new salespeople assist us in choosing wood floors for our place. We made it clear we wanted really hard wood, as it would be used in our kitchen. She informed us that the wood we chose fit the bill. Lesson to us: don't trust a newbie. Our floor is a year old and is only dinged up, despite our conscientious efforts to avoid dinging it up. Then, their installers banged up our walls in several places in our NEW place. They tried to putty it and slip it by us but we caught it before they finished the job. Their attempts to fix the dings were unsatisfactory. Somehow they got the adhesive on our carpet. When we demanded that they clean it, the so-called installer attempted to "clean" it but only made the stain worse. The stain remains. There are so many more things to complain about it but I'm getting upset thinking about it. read more

So...they installed the bedroom carpet. While doing so, they damaged the walls, the adjacant ceramic tile floor, and one door stop. The carpet is uneven in places and the install job was so poor, another carpet company is coming to determine if it can be salvaged. read more

You know you are dealing with a fine business when a problem arises and they graciously take care of it. We ordered a beautiful engineered hardwood floor from Metro Floors and, for whatever reason, two of the boxes that showed up at our doorway (these were picked up by our contractor) were the wrong ones. Metro accepted these back, though the packaging was compromised, and delivered the correct boxes. I greatly appreciate their support and due diligence. This could have been a nightmare, but they quickly took care of the problem. I highly recommend this store! read more

Bought wool carpet, installed, and am pleased with the process and results. I have a small one bedroom condo that has too much furniture. I paid extra, within reason, to have help moving the heavier furniture. When I was comparing carpets they took the rolls of carpet down so I could see it better. The installers arrived on time, worked throughout the day and put the furniture back. I am satisfied with the price and quality of the carpet and would recommend Metro to others. This appears to be a family owned and operated retailer who intends to satisfy customers. What more could one ask? read more

I then went into his store to get samples which he allowed me to borrow and look at in the condo with my interior designer. He has great selection and competitive pricing. He worked with my schedule and HOA requirements to get the job done and they even finished early! If you're worried about putting down a good chunk of change only to end up with shoddy workmanship or a logistical hassle, rest easy! Hayri, the owner at Metro Floors, knows his business inside and out. He wants people to be happy with their choices and once a decision has been made, the turnaround is quite efficient. I can't recommend his store highly enough for those in need of wall to wall carpeting. Initially, I thought I wanted something darker but Hayri, knowing his craft so well, took time and patience to educate me on the pros and cons of different carpeting (I own two cats, among other things we discussed). His patience and tactics to help me reach a decision really is priceless if you are working with a professional of his caliber. Why? Because while he's certainly interested in making a sale (duh!) he wants customers to be happy with their choices. I have a small condo in Noe Valley which needed new floors and a flight of stairs done. I shopped a lot before settling on Metro. Here's why: Hayri stepped right up when I was in the store and listened carefully to what I needed. He presented a very competitive pricing option for Maple Engineered Hardwood from an excellent maker. In addition, his installation price was very competitive. Hayri personally came to inspect my project and measure the space. Then, his installer came to inspect my project. As we were replacing the baseboards, Hayri accommodated me by delivering them early so I could paint them prior to installation. The installers handled the job in two days, including prep (filling gaps, removing obstacles). They were clean and courteous, careful, precise...can't say enough! I cannot say enough good things about this flooring company! I am a Facilities Manager for a startup here in San Francisco, and after experiencing a flood in our building which subsequently ruined our carpeting, we decided to go with a vinyl replacement for various reasons. Our company was starting its Holiday break on the 23rd and I was instructed to find a company that could finish the work by the time everyone returned to work on the 5th of January. Everyone I called gave me time estimates of two weeks before being able to start work and that was IF the materials were in by then (we needed almost 4000 sq. ft). Hayri went to work and found the required amount of flooring and was able to get it to the job site in 2 days! They started removing the existing carpet and preparing the concrete the day before it arrived, and they had it completely installed the afternoon of the 4th! It looked amazing! I called to ask for the owner to bounce a few questions off of him and the front office lady was a rude cantankerous person. I am looking to get a large job done and do not think asking a few questions is such a bad idea. I did a lot of research and checked pricing at 5 different locations. Metro Floors was right in the middle regarding price. They had a great selection, knowledgeable employees, and most importantly could meet my very tight deadline. The cheaper places did not have the availability to install it quickly nor were they able to answer all of my questions. Metro Floos made me feel the most confident this job would get done how I wanted. I had carpeting removed in the upstairs with new engineered wood installed and new carpet put on the stairs. The downstairs was already hardwood and they helped me screen and sand it to take out most of the blemishes. They were on time, did a great job and actually lowered the price a bit before invoicing me. This is a good store but the main reason I gave them 5 stars is for Hayri. We had a beautiful floor laid by Metro flooring. Having bought an apartment we wanted the old laminate taking up and new engineered wood floor throughout the living areas before we moved in. The owner steered us towards this type of flooring as one that we would be happy with when complete. He was right. They had access to the apartment to lay the floor before we moved in. When we visited the apartment, after they had left, we were blown away by the quality of the floor... and the finish.....Whoever laid the floor is a craftsman and all round genius!!! The way that it is cut to the side boards and the finishes on the trims is beyond what we had hoped for. We are so happy with the result. It really makes our new home.
